Not a good product
It's noisy, it's slow and it often hangs up, trying to access the disk over and over again, sometimes for several minutes before it connects.Maybe I got a bad one, but it sucks.

DON'T THROW AWAY!
I love Iomega! This zip drive reads 100 mb and 250 mb zip disks. It is also very stylish. It adds some blue to my silver and black computer. Did I mention Iomega makes round zips that work with this?

Nightmare !!
It is appalling to see that amazon is keeping such redundant items on its site. It was a mistake on my part to order this because i thought this was a 250GB hard drive.. whereas it turned out to be a 250MB USB drive !!! Its a dinosaur in the present world..i'd like to warn consumers to read the fine print carefully before buying tech items. 100 MB USB Zip Drive
It worked once for me and then the trouble stated.It would accept drives or if it did I had a lot of trouble getting it to release the drive.I took all of my zip drives to a computer with an internal zip drive and down loaded everything to a pocket drive and transfered the material to my main computer.The drive is sitting on my junk shelf.I do have a couple of scuzzy (sic) drives that I might get to use if I can find a scuzzy to usb or firewire adapter.I can't recommend the drive.This is the second usb zip drive I have and first gave me the same problem.They aren't made with the same quality as their earlier drives.Reliable flash drives are going to put this substandard drive out of business.

My 100MB USB Zip Drive Locks Up
I've had this Drive about a year and it is starting to lock up my computer. I've had to, on many occasions unplug my computer and reboot to get out of the lockup.

old technology, but still useful
If your computer has a USB port, you should definitely get a USB Zip drive or flash drive because this parallel-port Zip drive is really slow.However, most old computers (i.e. those made before 1997) do not have a USB port or CD-RW drives, and so this Zip drive is the ideal way for transferring data to and from such computers.100MB Zip discs are pretty cheap, too.But keep in mind that this drive won't recognize 250MB discs.If you think you might need to use those discs in the future, get a 250MB Zip drive instead.

Worked fine until drive malfunction
Got this drive for an original iMac back in the winter of 1998.It worked just fine until 2002 when the eject function stopped working and it wouldn't accept any disks.It wasn't worth going through the trouble to get fixed, so a new model was purchased.

Two Years Old and Going Strong
Mine's been working flawlessly since I bought it in early 2000. I understand the newer models are bus-powered. If for some reason you can't have a power strip, that's a concern, but I do wish the AC adapter was smaller. No Zip Disk Included

Faulty Iomega Zip 750 MB External USB drive
I ordered and received an Iomega Zip 750 MB External USB drive.I have returned it, only to find out that I am not being refuned the full amount because of some bogus return policy charge.
Most people won't need this drive
I have been using Zip disks for over 6 years now.98% of the time, me and my colleagues use 100MB disks, and the rest of the time we use 250MB.I have never seen anyone use 750MB disks, and have never seen any computer with a 750MB Zip drive (except the one I own).That means most people would never use this drive for transferring stuff between computers.The only reason for getting this drive is if you want to back up your own files, but that can be done much better using CDs and DVDs.Besides its limited use, this 750MB drive can read from but not write to 100MB disks, which can be quite inconvenient at times.On the other hand, a 250MB drive can read from and write to both 250MB and 100MB disks.So, you may be better off getting a 250MB Zip drive.

What you're looking for
If you need an exterior Zip drive, you've found it.This is perfect for your every zip need.It is very small- not much wider then an actual zip disk.In addition, it comes with a rubber stand that can make it take up even less desk space by making it vertical.It is extremely light and therefore portable and easily plugs into your computer with a fast USB cable.There is no necessary installation either.Also, it is good to note that this is a good MB zip drive to get for two reasons- it can still take 100MB ones (the size smaller) and there is no real need for most to get a 700 MB drive (the size larger) because if you're dealing with that much information most people would use a CD instead and it is very hard to find a 700 MB disk.Also, take into account that this is a very good price especially considering it includes 3 disks- which can run $$$ each sometimes.

ZIP 250MB Starter -3 U250 Disks not included
This starter kit doesn't contain the U250 disks (10 year guarantee), but the regular 250 MB zip disks (5 year guarantee).I am sending 2 kits back today.Iomega quit making the U250 Zip disks.Someone at Amazon knows about the problem, but the website has not been updated.Don't waste your time !

Unreliable power supply
This product worked fine for me for about a year until the power supply failed. This was very inconvenient, and caused my client to have a gap in their data backup. Iomega were good enough to send me a replacement.
Great Product
I have always used and liked the Iomega products starting with their Zip drives.The ease of use, flexibility and storage capacity have always made these products well worth the price.
Frustrating speed makes REV obsolete
I've purchased 3 REV drives for my company, and used them all extensively. But as of 2006, REV technology appears obsolete. Why? The speed. Write speeds are frustratingly slow, and read speeds aren't impressive, either.

Does a really fine job!
I've now owned my 250 parallel port zip drive for over three years and could not manage without it.Yes it might not be as fast as some of the newer models but its the over all storage that I am please with.I use both the 100 and 250 zip disks and store a fair amount of data and photos.This machine has never let me down and I am very pleased with it!I now use it on my Windows XP without a problem although it was in the market place before XP was around.Good overall quality!!

The Iomega drive engineers need a dope-slap
My Zip 100 suffered from the "Click of Death" and I lost about five disks and the whole drive before I learned on the Internet about this well-known problem. Sloow

I've never found Zip drives to be very speedy, despite the name, but this particular drive is quite slow and quite loud. yep, works fine

Use a USB port...
This is slow to install, dificult to take anywhere, and slow to transfer info. Buy a USB connected ZIP or better yet, for this kind of money you should be able to get a CD-RW.

I haven't had any problems like were mentioned in the other review.I like my 100 MB Zip drive.I bought it to back up some of my files and that's what it did.I've never used my Zip drive while I was printing.It is a bit slow but so is that 3.5" floppy sometimes.It's a good thing to buy when backing up files when you're short on money.My major complaint is the cost of Zip disks. ... Fastest type of zip drive there is!
Well, the SCSI zip drive is just as fast as the internal one, but I don't have any SCSI ports, and why spend the extra money for a card, so I can use a more expensive zip drive that sits on my desk. Portability is not necessary to me because most all my friends and co-workers have zip drives too. I did have a USB Zip 250 before, but I never took it anywhere so I sold it to my friend for cheap and got the internal 250. The speed is gerat - more than twice as fast! Yes but what about the reliability.
The other reviewers are right. The zip format is very convenient. I have been using them for years. I used to mail the 100mb disks overseas in just an envelope without a problem. Very reliable.
Fast storage
The advantage of the Zip drive over a CDROM is the shorter time it takes to make a backup.CD burn programs require several minutes to make a backup.A Zip drive a few seconds - drag and drop.Yes, for an archive of files you a CDROM might be better.But if you simply want to a temporary backup (and I always backup the novel I am writing after even the smallest modification), you can't beat the speed of a Zip.Also the Zip 750's response time is much faster than the Zip 250.Hit the button and it pops out in a half second.

GreatestBackup Device Ever!!
I disagree with one of the former reviewers who said he feels that Iomega Drives are flakey. I have run 250MB Zip drives both ext and int for several years w/o problems. This new peerless is easy to install and use, it's speed is fairly fast with USB 1.1 and will no doubt be even faster with USB 2.0 when it becomes widely available. A 7GB back-up of my entire Hard Drive took only 110 min with my USB 1.1 connection. As I understand it; changing to a firewire interface will require only the replacement of the base unit. The receptacle and Disks can be used with any base. I disconnected my tape back-up drives and put them in storage!!!

Iomega Doesn't make Reliable Drives
I just got a Peerless drive... worked for 2 hours.Just long enough to suck up a bunch of data... and now it doesn't work.Iomega tech support is pretty clueless since this is a NEW product. (You'd think after going through phone-mail hell to get to the right place, the guys there would have had training or something.)Apparently, after reinstalling, downloading and restarting numerous times and such, the guy at Iomega said the drive was faulty.So how long will the new one the send me work?Who knows.This is the FIFTH Iomega drive I've been through in 6 months.Buy a DVD or CD burner instead.IOMEGA doesn't make reliable technology. ... The Orb is AMAZING
I bought my Orb drive for home use on the same day that I picked up a Zip drive for use at work.I cannot begin to describe how different these two products are. Great Product despite reported problems
Purchased this drive about two months ago and have found it to be the best (and cheapest) option for massive amounts of storage.Despite some reported problems in various reviews, I have not had even one problem with this drive and routinely use it to back up my hd and to store multimedialike MP3's.At $ for each 2.2gig cartridge, the ORB can't be beat!
