1-0 out of 5 stars Phonex Jack Caught On Fire
This Phonex PX-441 wireless jack system caught on fire.Thank goodness the fuse box detected the heat and cut the electricity. It functioned fine during the prior year and a half (I was using it for TIVO dial up). This summer, we had a heat wave in Chicago where everyone was being warned to minimize electrical use.I had a window-unit air conditioner and the jack on the same circuit, but plugged into different outlets. This jack was plugged into the primary outlet. The air conditioner was turned on and my electrician friends (who did the forensic work) believe the sudden power need for this circuit resulted in the jack overloading and catching fire. The jack was definately on fire and essentially melted into the outlet plate with smoke residue 5 inches above outlet.I am trying a different wireless phone jack brand (once bitten, twice shy).I am also going to plug this into a power strip as an extra precaution.

5-0 out of 5 stars Phonex PX-441 Wireless Jack System used for DirecTv
This is the brand recommended by DirecTv if you don't have a telephone jack nearby to hook the DVR to (so you can order pay-per-view movies).Easy, quick installation.Does the job. Also about $30 less than equivalent item at Best Buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well I'm impressed
I can understand people being frustrated if this item was purchased for a modem. There is nothing on the box that states the baud restriction. However, for a fax or phone system it works great.Open the box.Plug the one with two RJ-11 jacks in by your phone plug and plug in the RJ-11 cord.Plug the other one where you want your jack and plug in the RJ-ii cordAt this point you will have dial tone. The almost new house we purchased was built by peple who were running out of money.Solid construction, no landscaping and no cable/voice jacks.I plan on buying another one of these. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars before I purchase...
Is the system working well for DSL as most reviews tell it's not ideal for modem and internet?

2-0 out of 5 stars Customer service
I thought I ordered both receiver and transmitter, had to re-order by phone. They told me they would send me a R.A. by email and I never got it now I'm stuck with two orders.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad alternative to wiring a new phone
This gizmo certainly solved my problem with not having a phone jack in a room that I needed one in.The only drawback I found was that it's NOT compatible with caller id.Otherwise the unit works great and has a good range from base to extension unit. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars should have read the reviews more closely...
the people who rated this highly only used it for Tivo...
5-0 out of 5 stars using it for caller i.d. on direct t.v.......
purchased the unit 9/05 because there wasn't a tele jack near the t.v.... thus far has worked w/o a hitch connected to my direct t.v. black box to show caller i.d. on the screen....

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for DirecTV
I have used this wireless phone jack system to connect a DirecTV receiver for over 18 months (and for three months, a Tivo) without a problem. The stations are about 20 feet apart with a wall and furniture in between, but I have not had connectivity issues.I have two wireless networks (b and g)in the same area and have not had the interference problems others have mentioned. That said, my parents tried using the same system in their home and got lots of static and dropped modem connections over a 15 ft. line-of-sight installation with no other wireless networks, so the system seems to be somewhat picky. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Poor delivery and horrible customer care strategy
Used this unit for a while but complaints about line static by my phone counterparts were consistent and energetic.Did not use the unit for six months.Tried to use the unit today after it was sitting safely in a seldom used drawer.System failed to activate at all.Tried resetting.Called the customer service number on back of the unit to see what could be done if anything. After the phone self-help proved useless (very user unfriendly), I struggled to get out of the "loop".Finally, reached a voice who put me on hold, came back, and they transferred me to another technician where my call was dropped. The customer service number on the website sent me into a new self-help h#ll.I just needed it to work with my dish network.I am using the recommendation on this site to use the SBC unit.Save yourself a lot of annoyance and move on.

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesnt work w/wireless phone
Used a Panasonic 2.4Ghz phones as the extension and it would not get a dial tone.Plugged in a simple corded phone and it worked just fine.
5-0 out of 5 stars Five stars -- but only for satellite receiver
Seems to work well with my satellite receiver.I have not used it for any other purpose so have no idea how it would work in any other capacity. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not work with DirecTV Tivo
I purchased this item hoping I could use it to get my DirecTivo talking with the mother-ship again after I moved to a new house that had no phone jacks near the TV area.I followed the simple instructions to set it up and was able to get a dial tone (with little to no static), but the DirecTV Tivo failed to connect every time it dialed in.A quick call to the DirecTV support people revealed that this unit is not compatible with their service. In fact, only 3 wireless phone jack replicators are.One of them is the Belkin F8V1027, also available from Amazon (ASIN: B0000CG4GF -- Amazon used to have a way to recommend items instead of this one, but I can't find it now, so plug the ASIN into Amazon's search and you should get the item).
5-0 out of 5 stars Simple Install, Zero Problems
Bought this unit specifically for use with a TIVO unit I had recently installed.Followed the instructions that accompanied the unit and it worked immediately.I've never had a problem with it and have been using it now for several months.

5-0 out of 5 stars No Problems

1-0 out of 5 stars VOIP Extension Jack
I'm using the Netgear ethernet with our VOIP Packet 8 Virtual Office Phone as a wireless cable extension. What we needed was to have this phone ring into line 2 on our Uniden 2-Line, (since the Virtual Office doesn't come cordless).I was a little skeptical, but since the newly "VOIP" sticker was slapped on, I tried it.Doesn't work. But I saw another review (I think for an RCA phone jack) that mentioned PX-441, compatible with Data and Voice...so off I go to try that! ...
