5-0 out of 5 stars It's as easy as plug and play
We currently have the Linksys BEFSR41 4-port router/switch for our home network. It's been working great for about 4 years now, but we've now run out of ports.I did some research on the 8 port router/switch product from Linksys, but the reviews were mixed. The reviews were mixed for similar competing products also.So I took the route of getting the EZXS55W to expand our existing home network.I just plugged it into the network and it just worked out of the box.No configuration needed. It's also very tiny.I highly recommend the product.

5-0 out of 5 stars WORKS WELL WITH MAC'S APPLE-TALK (for me)
Linksys tech support assured me that their were no limitations to this gizmos ability to route ethernet signals. Sure enough, I plugged it in and it's functioning exactly as I hoped. Our internet comes from a cable modem. From that I ran the cat-5 ethernet cable to the Airport Extreem which acts as a wireless router and it also has 1 out port for ethernet, which I connected the EZXS55W switch to. Off the switch I am running a printer (Laserwriter Pro 630) and a desk top G-4. I also have 3 wireless computers on the network and all are running OS-X. All can access the internet, I can print from any computer and fileshare between the whole lot. I couldn't ask for more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for 2+ years under heavy use.
I have nothing to report, that is, the device has performed flawlessly in the 2+ years I have owned it.I subjected this thing to almost every scenario except Mac.Read on...

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely love it
After reading several reviews and receiving a recommendation for this hub, I decided to purchase it. The price is great and arrived SOONER than EXPECTED. I was actually surprised by the size and weight. It is unbelievably small and light, can fit just about anywhere. I've been using it for some time now and workes wonderfully. People claim that theirs winds up braking/malfunctioning after a while, mine hasn't yet but I will say that if it were to brake/malfunction, I will most likely buy another one, which I higly doubt will even brake for who knows when.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great USB hub
I've gone through a few USB hubs, including a couple from Belkin and several cheap ones picked up on eBay.This is definitely one of the best, working flawlessly with my external hard disk, card reader, cordless keyboard and mouse, ipod, and portable USB drive.
5-0 out of 5 stars simple and no problems
I've plugged this hub in and it just works.I mainly use it to connect an iPod, so I use the faster speed through it.I haven't had any problems with it at all. It's connected to my Mac and has been working fine for more than a month. ... Read more

The Linksys EtherFast cable/DSL router connects multiple PCs to a high-speed broadband Internet connection or to an Ethernet backbone. Configurable as a DHCP server, the EtherFast router acts as the only externally recognized Internet device on your local area network (LAN). The router can also be configured to block internal users' access to the Internet. A typical router relies on a hub or a switch to share its Internet connection, but the Linksys EtherFast router channels this connection through the full-duplex speed of its built-in EtherFast 10/100 four-port switch. This combination of router and switch technology eliminates the need to buy an additional hub or switch and serves your network as a completely dedicated, full-duplex backbone. Now your entire network can enjoy broadband Internet connections supported by its switched backbone. This unit requires an external cable or DSL modem with an Ethernet RJ-45 interface. This product comes with a one-year warranty.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the hassle

1-0 out of 5 stars Be leary of the befsr41
I have had several of these routers over the years.. I currently have the v2 but the problem I am having is not version specific.I get disconnected from IRC and any messenger I am using about ever 5 -10 minutes at best.I have changed the firmware numerous times... I have reset the router I have actually changed the router out to no avail. This equipment is faulty and Linksys refuses to acknowledge the problem. If you type in Befsr41+disconnects you will see this is a problem with the entire product line... and most of us can not resolve this without removing this piece of equipment from the equation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up Router
LinkSys has put out a wired router that can be set up in minutes and without a glitch. The easiest way to configure it is to go directly to their website and they will automatically configure it.I had this up and running in a few minutes; they also provide support without waiting on the phone for an extended time.I have had other routers that had numerous glitches/problems and poor support...not LinkSys: they put out quality and user-friendly products! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Plugged the cables in and it worked like a charm.I did speed tests just to be certain that it did not affect my DSL connection speeds, and it did not.It was nice not having to deal with a crossover cable or flipping a manual switch to configure an uplink port.Contrary to another review, my unit does not run warm, but mine is not fully loaded transmitting data continuously, but I doubt even that would make a difference.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY
If at all possible do not buy this gadget!!! It is a nightmare keeping the cable plugged into the little door it has as a connector. It breaks very very easily. Worst engineering I have ever seen especially from Linksys!!! They are a trusted company but I threw mine in the garbage today and GOOD RIDDENS!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Blue screen of death
Yuck, only 24$ and I feel very ripped off.I have not seen the blue screen of death since Windows 95 but here I am with a brand new XP computer from Dell and I can't get this thing to work ! I downloaded the latest driver from the LinkSys web site and it was not compatible with my new purchase.
2-0 out of 5 stars Works with Macs, but I'd choose another
I bought this Linksys adapter for an Apple eMac whose ethernet port had been zapped by a lightning strike. The salesperson where I purchased it told me that Linksys offered Macintosh drivers on their web site; this was incorrect. However, because the technology used in all USB-to-Ethernet adapters is based on an industry standard, there are free third-party drivers available for download on the web that will allow your OSX Mac to use just about ANY of the USB-to-ethernet adapters on the market. I downloaded and installed a driver for OSX 10.3.9 from www.sustworks.com/site/news_usb_ethernet.html, and the Linksys USB200M works flawlessly on my eMac.

5-0 out of 5 stars GigE switch that is both FAST and QUIET
Like so many other small home office users, I have recently upgraded my network to 1000mpbs to help increase productivity.Unfortunately, I originally purchased a GigE 8 port switch from another mfg. that used a fan on their switch, a VERY noisy fan. After a month of listening to what sounded like an airplane engine, I tossed that unit and purchased this 8port Netgear GigE unit.It is SILENT.Basically a plug and play item due to its unmanaged nature, I have had good data thru put and no problem. It comes with a small clip on stand for vertical storage if desired. The unit is finished in an attractive gray and chrome exterior. It is also small enough to live on a desktop with sucking up valuable real estate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product!!
This Product really works! I ordered it after going through the reviews and I am very much satisfied with the switch. The switching is smooth and fast.I've a Dell latitude D620 laptop and a Dell optiplex GX620 and I had no problems usign the switch. I had a little confusion regarding setup and I called up the IOGEAR and let me tell that the tech support was excellent. Overall, It does what it says!

3-0 out of 5 stars good compact usb solution, problems with docking station
i was using this at my previous job with a dell inspiron laptop & dell precision workstation. the display part worked but the keyboard & mouse part did not work from the laptop side. apparently this is because it was connected to the laptop through the dell docking station, & the power supply from the docking station usb port was not sufficient. some of my colleagues had newer laptops with side-usb & they were able to use it when plugged in directly to the laptop (mine had only rear-usb, so i can't plug in anything when its in the dock).

4-0 out of 5 stars Works, but with a glitch occassionally
I have used this for about a month. It worked right after everything is plugged in.One problem arose after one week of usage. The monitor would remain dark for 2-5 min after switching.

4-0 out of 5 stars How long will it last?
I have been using this D-Link hub for about six months. The power light started flickering after about three months and now doesn't light at all.The hub works great, but I wonder how long it will last.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great - for a while
This hub worked really well for me - while it worked! But after about 18 months it started to behave strangely - losing connections - so I needed to keep unplugging and replugging it into the computer. After about a month of this it stopped altogether. And the warranty is only for 12 months. So instead I bought another hub which has a lifetime warranty. I've had problems with other D-Link devices, so I will not be buying any again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work with Magellan GPS
This adapter cord did not work with my Magellan SporTrak GPS. Magellan's own cord did not work either. This one did work with a glucose meter reader. It was twice as expensive as the two cords found that did work with the GPS unit. This one had its own configuration software and allowed for faster speeds, neither of which I need. I did return this cord for a full refund, including shipping, from Amazon.

I've been using WGT624 for many months and I am not satisfied with it. It hangs frequently. When it hangs you can't even access the router with a wire (LAN ports). It works only if you turn it off and on. I've always had the latest firmware updates, but none of those helped.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can't get it to connect, it thinks I'm stupid.
Here are a few thoughts I had after wrestling with this junk for 90min:
5-0 out of 5 stars Almost plug and play
(Mac X User) For some reason Safari is not compatible when configuring the router, I used Firefox and setup was super easy. Just to clarify once the router is configured Safari runs perfectly.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
If you've got a broadband cable modem and 4 or fewer computers to hook up to the main feed, this is the router you want. I had a Linksys router, and for 4 years thought, this is as fast as it gets?

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great with HP V40xi all-in-one.
I had no trouble installing the print server, it was very easy. I was happy to see that it worked with my all-in-one whereas many print servers will not.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mac Owners, Look Elsewhere
I purchased this print server only to end up returning it because it was too much of a hassle to make it work on my all-Macintosh network. Although technically it *is* Mac compatible, it requires the use of a Windows computer for the initial setup, which in my book might as well be Mac incompatible. I replaced this with the similar USB 2.0 print server from Buffalo Technologies and I was up and running (using OS X Tiger, Rendezvous and AppleTalk) within 15 minutes of receiving the Amazon package at my front door. PS: Netgear elects NOT to include an Ethernet cable in the box whereas Buffalo not only includes one, but it's a super-slick, long and ultra flat Ethernet cable, all for about the same price as the Netgear.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yahoooo!!!!! MFC 210C USB Printer Wireless
This is a great product. I am able to make my Brother MFC-210C USB printer wireless. The setup is really simple. Upgrade the Firmware from netgear website before installation. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unlike other USB Hubs
This is very well designed. It give you 4 USB Port but two on opposite sides. This is very clever becase you have plug in devices from both sides. You webcam or cell on your left and your mouse and number pad on your right. The cord that plug in from the Hub to the Computer is very sterdy yet flexible so you can not only adjust the Hub in all kind of angles, it would stay at that angle and not twist all around you wires. It also works great if you jsut want to charge you USB devices on the go. It come with a plug in AC adapter so you don't need to bring your computer along with you to charge youd devices.

5-0 out of 5 stars Product desciption could be more specific
I,ve seen complaints about the ac adapter you "must" plug in. Hey guys, try it without an outside energy source, I just hope I,m not gonna fry something but it seems to work fine just plugged into a powered USB port. I have a VERY high end system though with wattage to sprare, but no more PCI slots, Damn 7900 512 gtx graphics cards, why do 2 of em have to take up so much room. Oh well, trade offs are a bi---, but a reality and 7 extra USB slots are awfully nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's called the Ultra Mini for a reason!
This review pertains specifically to the Targus PAUH217U 4 Port Ultra Mini USB 2.0 Hub.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent, but Has Typical Linksys Shortcomings
This is a typical Linksys product where the hardware design is excellent, software design is mediocre and documentation is lacking.
5-0 out of 5 stars Works with Avaya IP Office telephone system.
I work for an Avaya Telephone System Dealer. For quite some time we have been looking for an inexpensive Router/VPN that would pass H.323 protocol in both directions so that a telecommuter could use an Avaya IP phone and be part of the corporate office.Meaning that someone at corporate could dial the extension for John Smith and John could answer at his home, with the same funcionality of the telephone as if John were at corporate. The Linksys RV042 fits the bill.Programming is a snap utilizing the gateway to gateway VPN feature. And the price is right!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for our home.
We have a pretty high tech home and this router runs the internet through our walls. It runs perfectly, no slow speeds and the VPN is great. The VPN only works with the Linksys Quick VPN utility and CAUTION: IF YOU HAVE PORTS FORWARDED, YOU CANNOT CONNECT COMPUTERS TO YOUR VPN.I had to figure this out on my own no thanks to linksys. The VPN is great for lan games over the internet, and just accessing files while on the go.Theres so many good settings to choose from, and for me, a 15 year old that is pretty tech. savy, it's really easy to configure.I also have a Windows Server running w/ this router and have the server as the DHCP server.Just turn off the DHCP on the router and it will work fine with Windows Server 2003.This product probably wouldnt be good just as a small home network system, more for the bigger networks.I cannot say enough good things about this, it works perfectly! ... It works just like it says.I was looking for a wifi card to replace one I broke and got a great deal on this one.So far it seems to be a good product.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Version 2 Card is Good
The provided software is largely immaterial to the Linux user, only implementing the drivers (in conjunction with ndiswrapper & wpa_supplicant) found in the /Driver/NT/ subdirectory of the supplied CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable
This is the second BEFSR81 I've owned. My previous one was taken out by an electrical storm. (Although the router was plugged into a Belkin Surgemaster Surge Protector, it still got zapped. We're thinking it came in through the cable although Comcast denies it's even possible - right!
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Replacement for Linksys 4-port model
I bought this for a small office LAN which was using a 4-port Linksys router.I considered wireless for them, but since it is a dentist office, I feared that X-ray and other related machines would interfere. The setup was very easy, especially since the PCs were already talking to a router.I also took the liberty of setting up STATIC addresses, and turning off DHCP on the router; seems to make things faster, especially when booting workstations.
3-0 out of 5 stars Works great ... finally ... MAYBE!
A few years ago, I personally went to the trouble of wiring my house for a computer network figuring a wired network would be more reliable than a wireless one. I started with a Linksys BEFSR41 router with 4 ports, and after some initial tweaking, this router worked well for about three years needing only an occasional "reset" to correct any problems. Recently, severe slowdown set in, and no amount of resetting would help so I purchased this BEFSR81. This 8-port router was my choice because I wanted to expand the network to 5 locations. Besides, in today's market, there aren't that many WIRED routers to choose from - WIRELESS seems to rule the marketplace.
