5-0 out of 5 stars The "Jetson" future is here!A fantastic product.
First, the bad news:the Ojo is fantastic. That's right...and it gets better from there.I'm extremely pleased with the Ojo and would never want to be without one again. In comparison, regular landline phones and webcams come up far short. Both the picture and audio quality are excellent and with no audio delay. The video messaging was automatically downloaded (free) after I bought the units. It's a great feature. The display is at a good height for viewing (no looking up peoples' noses).I was surprised that the display appears larger than it is (7" diagonally). The handset is cordless and detachable.I seldom use the handset away from the unit, but don't want to be tethered to a phone, so didn't even consider other videophones.Material and construction appear to be first-class.
5-0 out of 5 stars Italy and America closer NOW
We got our OJO from our son who lives in US..It's a wonderful product I enjoy talking and seeing my grandson while his father is in office and he stays alone ? home with the nanny...I hope talking to me will alow him to learn Italian easily
2-0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, get MSN Messenger which is free
The Ojo fails exactly where the previous video phones have failed: it's way too expensive, even before the "generous" mail-in rebate which will take months to receive if ever. For $50 or so you can get two webcams with video and audio quality just as good as (if not better than) the Ojo and then just get MSN Messenger which is free and has the best video phone quality and features, even over slow Internet connections. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of crap- Doesn't work
I received one of these beamers for Christmas so that my parents and brother could see my new baby anytime they wanted. It didn't work. But because my parents and brother both had one, I bought another. It doesn't work either.Steer clear from this company and their lousy products!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars long distance problems
I used the beamer within the USA and had no problems.the best results come with increased lighting.however i took one to europe and have not been able to connect and get a picture yet.if anyone had a solution ...please comment
1-0 out of 5 stars Ordered 2, 1 dead on arrival
Ruined Christmas.Bought two for wife so she and her mother could talk (and see) coast-to-coast.Had both units sent to us so wife could see how it works before shipping one to my mother-in-law.Hooked one up, it powered on and I excitedly went to neighbors to hook up second and try it out.Hooked up, plugged in, NOTHING.Tried other wall plugs but still NOTHING.Unit defective, returning to Amazon, we'll see how return process goes (only did one return before, wasn't the easiest).Wife and mother-in-law were very excited, now very disappointed. They will have to wait (weeks?), that's assuming we get a replacement and that one works.Otherwise will have to settle for refund (better be full refund if they go that route) then try to find one (thought I was in good shape and ahead of Xmas rush by buying on Dec. 5). ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Vialta fails out of the box - test before sending to grandma
WARNING - test BOTH Beamers before sending one to Grandma.I ordered the dual set and BOTH Beamers are defective.Plug them in and NOTHING, no image.I get a dial tone but absolutely no "Beamer is now ready" message, just a blank screen (yes I plugged it in and tested it on several power outlets and several different phone lines).
1-0 out of 5 stars not worth the money
My daughter and son in law bought the Vialta, and then I bought one.My son in laws family lives in England and for a very short time, they all worked. The quality was poor and the connection would cut out. Now, nothing works, none of the the products communicate, and they went out at the same time.Very very serious loss of money and a way to communicate.I do not recommend this product to anyone who is interested in on line communication.
1-0 out of 5 stars GARBAGE

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
My parents, brother, and I all have the Beamer and we love it!It gives us all a chance to see each other - including my brother's twins! We've had no problems in reception or any other issue!Great product!

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money ... doesn't work.
First, the camera is very low quality. I have a lot of light over-exposure, even when the blinds are closed and a rainy day. Also (perhaps because of it) there are hardly any colors.
3-0 out of 5 stars Blurry at best.
If you don't mind a blurry picture and really blurry when any one moves then this is for you! However, if you can get the people in the picture to sit perfectly still in is fine, but then that is just like looking at a picture. There is a delay and the ability to see anyones mouth move is random at best.We have it hooked to a good phone line and my son, who has the other one, also has his hook up to a good phone line. I can't imagine what you'd see if your phone line was iffy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Video Phone
I have had this phone for 2 months now.Buying from Amazon was a $50 less expensive than buying from Packet8.Set-up and registration was no problem.Audio quality is exccellent-equivalent to my landline.Video quality is generally excellent. At times it slows due to my wife's basic DSL connection. I communicate daily with my wife in Mexico City, Mexico who has another DV326.Neither of us has had any problems. Our savings utilizing VOIP will be considerable-$75-$100 per month.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Customer Service
Beware, while the equipment works alright, the customer service is atrocious. I had packet8 service for several months and decided to go back to a standard landline for quality and bundling issues. I ported my number, and called the cancel my packet8 service. I believed everything was taken care of. Packet8 billed me for 5 subsequent months after the number was ported out, and even after escalating the issue to their supervisors, they refuse to give me credit for the service fees even though there was no number on the account on which to use the service.
5-0 out of 5 stars VOIP Basics
I have had Packet8 for over a year now and have had the same problems that you would expect from any established telco. Meaning that I have been without service for a half hour, once the entire year. A call to their tech support was answered immediately and I was informed that they were updating some routes. Problem was fixed 30 mins later. This is our primary telephone service, and I have our box wired into the whole house so all of the lines are live. Packet8 uses the least amount of bandwidth of any VOIP carrier and the quality is better than traditional POTS. Here is what it all comes down to folks with all of the VOIP carriers. If you have a bad broadband connection, then you will have a bad VOIP experience. If you have a bad experience with Packet8, which again uses the LEAST amount of bandwidth, then you will have more problems with any of the other VOIP providers. The people who complain about the VOIP all complain about voice quality issues which has nothing to do with the VOIP carrier and everything to do with the 50 splitters you installed on the cable line that your dog regularly chews. So make sure you have a excellent broadband connection before you think of trying any VOIP service. Then get Packet8. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed again in Vialta
This is the second time I have tried a Vialta Beamer.First the tabletop version and then the TV version. My children and parents were so excited to see each other while talking on the phone. We thought that this technology was truly made for families like ours.Unfortunately, it is just not there yet.The picture is not clear and it can't really capture any motion from the kids.We were truly disappointed again in Vialta. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Veo Rules!!
This is my second Veo Webcam. My first was free from DELL because they screwed up my upgrade order for my home computer.I love this Veo Webcam because of the spider clip that attaches itself to my flat panel screen, has a built-in microphone, has GREAT picture quality compared to the cheaper Veo models.I especially like the Veo's software included with it...Digital Studio....etc.You can communicate with friends and relatives and send them quick picture shots of yourself and your kids/grandkids, etc., even add music, etc.Wowie...fun, fun, fun!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Veo Does Not Support Their Own Product, I wont either!!!!!
I purchased a VEO CONNECT... 333V ****DON'T DO IT!!!They have a web site that is all dead links, they have updated software downloads that aren't really there... They will not return email. And the phone # doesn't go through! I am not talking about "I tried once or twice" Im talking both I and the seller have gone back to the site almost every day for over a month now. Still no help, no email, and NO SUPPORT! The CD rom bundled software they included with the cam, does not up load... And they will NOT HELP!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera
It is worth buying for simple uses like for seeing family and friends. I received as a gift. It is very portable and will sit just about anywhere and has a nice focus right on the front.I would recommend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars The only good thing about this cam...
The only good thing about this cam is that it allows you to uninstall the software that comes with it from your PC. So you can return it and move on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Videophone product
I have had agreat time with this videophone and friends across the US and in Japan. The picture quality is pretty good and I have had no problems with setting this up or getting it to connect. The other review slams this product pretty good and I do not understnad why.Videophones CAN NOT have a 56K modem because the H.324 standard calls for 36K only.56 K modems transmit in one direction only at a time therefore it is far to much bandwidth for a standard telephone line and you would only be able to communicate in one direction which does not make sense. This product works well and there is no delay with the audio and only a slight delay with the video (this is all adjustable based on your preference).I think this is a greaty product at a good price. You wont get any better video unless you get a T1 or ISDN line which is expensive, has a high comlexity for setting up and just costs way too much. This overall is great idea and delivers on that idea.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother...
I got a chance to test this device rather than buy it and was sadly dissappointed. As slow as video over phone lines can be, this device only comes with a 33.6 modem instead of a standard 56k modem built in. Theconfiguration interface is primitive, using the phone keypad to maneuverthrough the menu, reminiscent of old DOS programs. The screen can betoggled between pc or camera view. There is no way to open a window on thedesktop to show the camera view. And as far as this being advertised as asurveillance camera or baby monitor, the only thing you're going to monitorwill have to be in the same room as you because of the length of themonitor cable. I can't imagine paying so much for so little. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ace Aiptek!
Upon receiving an Aiptek 2000T video phone from my grandmother for her birthday, my mother decided that it was an impossible item to use, but I took it under my wing and rigged it up in my bedroom. It is a source of much enjoyment, even though I only know a couple of people with video phones it is a great experience watching people talk to you! I have to wholly recommend the 2000T video phone to anyone, not just people who want to be at the cutting edge of technology!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why doesn't everyone have one of these?!?
Wow. I'm a computer geek for a living, and I'm really impressed with this product. I bought two, one for the house and one to use on the road while I'm out travelling for business. The image quality is about the same as any other low-res camera, but what is great is that there is no delay. The audio is right with the video. This is one of the great features of H.324. Compared to NetMeeting or the like, this product is great.5-0 out of 5 stars Aiptek 2000T - Outstanding Product Value
I purchased this product so that distant grandparents in NY can see their new granddaughter. After researching and testing all of the vendors (Starview, Motion Media, Metaeye, Infoview and Aiptek) I purchased this product. It is extremely easy to use and my computer illiterate parents had no trouble getting this hooked up. Here is the scoop on picture quality: All of the competing products are going to display the video at about the same speed. Since a standard telephone line is used for 2-way communication with video, a 33.6Kbps modem is all that is needed. Don't get fooled by the marketing gimmicks of 56K modems since they can only transmit at this speed in one direction and this is too much bandwidth for a standard telephone line. Picture quality of a TV broadcast is around 30 frames per second (fps). All of the products I tested broadcast at 15fps maximum and this quality looks good and is very clear (I was surprised!!). I could easily see my parents and the delay was only very slight. The key with this is, if you use the smallest picture size the video will transfer very fast and you wont notice any delay. I use the middle size and it works fine. Although the screen is 4" in diameter, you really can see a lot. Of all of the products I tried, the AIPTEK was the easiest to use and again picture quality was great for all of these products. Cost for AIPTEK was lower than some of the other units.Read more
