Very bad start!!

The picture is good--everything else is mediocre...
Most importantly, the picture is good... sharp... good color... etc. Operation is fairly simple.
DON'T BUY THIS THING, ESPECIALLY FOR THIS PRICE
If you're going to spend this kind of money, then get something else.This TV's sound is terrible.It works acceptably for routine network programs, but for stereo broadcasts and VCR/DVD playback, it reeks of dead skunk.You have to keep increasing the volume, which then serves to blur what you're trying to hear, and people who are watching continually ask each other, "What did he say?"For this price, far better products are available.I definitely wish I had not bought this one.

Perfect little television
When I bought this TV I was looking for something small for my bedroom.It's perfect.Not only did I not need to buy a VCR which I didn't have the money for but I fit in the only spot I had for it, a bookcase thats only about a foot wide.I've never had a problem with the TV or the VCR portion.I abosoultely love this little guy and I plan to take it to college with me.

Pretty good
I haven't had any major problems with this TV.. it seems fine. I don't really understand the negative reviews--it's got great features at a good price, and seems to work well. Picture quality is good, as is the VCR and internal radio feature (which I actually didn't know it had, but am very happy to know about now!)... my only problem is in the menu system, a characteristic Panasonic failure. Best you'll find in the dwindling VCR market
It's getting harder and harder these days to find VCRs with any features. Although I use more DVDs and record on DVD, I still needed a good stand alone VCR. Over the years I've owned many, mostly Panasonics and Sonys. The Sonys, with more features, all have gone bad. The Panasonics seem to live forever but have the least to offer. I specifically needed VCR with a tape counter (hours:minutes:seconds) on the front panel, and this is the only one around. I've been very pleased to find that this VCR plays tapes 10 years plus in age with no problem. My Sonys would not only not play them, but were pulling the tapes and ruining them. This VCR is able to play the semi-ruined ones (tapes with edges made all ragged by the Sonys) with a nice clear picture. The set up is easy, they just label the remote with different labels for familiar things. I'm copying my old tapes onto DVD -- and I feel the picture and sound this Sharp is getting is as good as its going to get. I was so pleased, I got another one to replace another old Sony. The audio options are little more extensive than on most, for outputs you can choose mono, stereo or L mode / R mode -- meaning the left channel comes out of both speakers, or the right channel comes out of both speakers. It gives you the option of leaving the black and white static screen, or the blue one that covers it. These odd little features come in handy for different uses. I don't mind at all that the screen is extremely dim when not in use -- I can't stand all the bright buttons and lights on my other equipment, especially in the bedroom. I gave it 4 stars only because I really don't like the double FF and RW feature. I want it on the fast speed only and find the constant double pressing very annoying. I find myself constantly switching them. All in all, if you need a decent VCR, I would get this while you can.

Sharp VC-H965U As Advertised
Recording and playback quality are fine (has Sharp Super Picture).It has a very fast rewind speed. It has a feature similar to memory rewind which stops at zero (Auto Zero Back).Index Search (called DPSS) is always useful.
Disappointed!
I selected this VCR because of all the great reviews it had.I was so very disappointed!This is the most complicated VCR I have ever tried to install and program.I have never had any trouble hooking up any other VCR before and this one was an absolute nightmare.I still can't get it to work right so I will be sending it back.It is far too complicated for someone who just wants to tape a daily show.

Don't Waste Your Money!
This unit is worse that the old VCR it replaced.The CD player works all right but the VCR is terrible.The sound is wobbly for the first ten minutes of each program. The horizontal sync jumps and caries on for the first five minutes.Any time the tape is stopped it starts jumping all over again.Any frame adjustment has to be redone whenever the power is turned off.Not worth the aggravation.

I bought this device twofrustrating months ago.It is ok when it works but that is usually not the case.The instructions are awful.The ability to record is awful.I don;t know anyone I hate enough to give them this machine.

Piece of Junk
We are now on our second unit in 2 weeks and this one is going back too.First one starting grabbing up tapes within the first few days.After 2 ruined tapes I sent for a replacment.We have had it 6 days and the tapes are making a clicking sound when playing and the sound is distorted. It is doing it on both old and newer tapes.It will play for a few minutes then turn itself off completely.Only good thing to say is that the DVD side has not given us problems yet. ... Read more

Interesting....mine did the same!
Ok, so I purchased this item about a year and a half ago and I absolutely loved it! It was a good space saver having two units in one, and fit nicely under my tv in my dorm room.However, a few weeks ago i was watching an almost brand-new dvd and suddenly, the dvd part started this loud clicking, the screen froze, and the unit completely shut itself off....and following that was a long, frustrating period of time where I was trying to get the dvd door open to retrieve my dvd...I ended up just prying it open with a screw driver.I did wait however, for the thing to suddenly turn back on....I waited a whole week but it remained frozen.Then the machine suffered the wrath of the screwdriver.
I Should Have Listened
Instead of being mindful of warnings about combos not to mention failing to read a single on-line review of said player I purchased Toshiba's SD-V290 DVD-VCR combo.
Half of it still works
If I had paid money for this thing, I'd be upset, but it was a gift, and it's worked reliably well for a year.

It's what I expected
An uncomplicated product that works. The sound is great, and it only took a few minutes to hook it up once I realized I had the cords mixed up. I enjoy listening to cds on the DVD player. The only thing about it is that it rewinds a bit too much, and you have to press twice to stop it. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

liked it, but stopped working
I really liked this DVD player. We've had it for 2 years without any problems until today, when it just stopped working. We can't even get it to turn on. Its just dead. Dont know what happened. I wish it had lasted longer but it was a good price.

Great value for S-VHS
This VCR is a great addition to my DSS receiver/27inch TV.I'm confused by Dr. Hoffman's review, since the Panasonic S9670 offers two S-Video connections, which allows you to hook up a satellite receiver or DVD playerto the VCR and also to connect the VCR with a TV which has a s-video input. The one thing that could be improved would be the remote, which I findneither ergonomic nor easy to use.I agree with the other reviewers thatthe commercial advance feature is great.The VCR+ Plus/GOLD feature hasbeen disappointing, however, since my DirectTV sattelite channels stillhaven't been recognized by the VCR (a process that is supposed to be doneautomatically, but it's been unsuccesful so far), so plugging in theVCR+Plus code is useless. I can't comment on reliability since I've onlyhad it two months.The front RCA/Video outputs are easily accessible, butaesthetically they're too prominently displayed.One other quirk--when theVCR is programmed to look for something (memorizing channels, finding thecorrect time automatically, etc.) the front display reads ALL SET when infact it isn't.Finally, the VCR has an annoying habit of skipping two tothree seconds ahead from play-stop-play, so you have to rewind a bit afterstopping to catch all the dialog. Still, a very good VCR overall.

Great value for the price
Very good picture quality and the Commercial Advance is just too cool. If it only had S-Vidio connections it would be perfect but, for the price, you can't beat it.

A nice, inexpensive intro to SVHS
