4-0 out of 5 stars Sony Kitchen CD Clock Radio
The product was easy to install and works as expected. The sound quality is good, but not great. We use it a few times a week, but mostly for talk radio as it's not really a HIFI system.Still, the sound is pretty good. The remote is a nice option.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Kitchen Clock Radio
This item is simply amazing. It is so slim and sleek and fits right under the cabinet. It was easy to install, has the CD option, which is great.. AND.. a remote. The Sony name, at this affordable price, who could ask for more? And at this very affordable price.. it makes a great gift too.

2-0 out of 5 stars Christmas Gift
I live in an urban area with generally good radio signals. The radio reception for this system is very poor. The AM antenna is internal and the power cord acts as the FM antenna. The reception is horrible. The unit does not accept an external antenna, so options are limited. All other features of the system work well but the radio is unusable. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Picture and Sound
We bought this to replace an older, CRT TV in our kitchen and have been extremely happy with it.More than I even thought we would. The picture quality is great and the fact it's a 9" vs most under cabinet TVs that are 7" makes a huge difference (that's nearly a 30% bigger screen). This is a bulkier unit than some, but that is because of the speakers and it makes a difference. The sound is amazing for a unit this size. The DVD has a great picture, plus it's a widescreen unit which is nice. The DVD keeps our little one entertained while we get her dinner ready. Both the FM and AM radio get great reception and that is due to an ingenious antennae built INTO the power cord, which is one less thing to worry about trying to find room for.Mounting wasn't nearly as hard as other reviews I've read (in fact I had it completely installed in about 10 minutes), but for standard 12" cabinets, it can stick out a little (in the front), but nothing grossly unattractive.I would suggest making your connections (cable or antennae) before actually securing to the cabinet instead of trying to screw in the coax with limited space in the rear. This unit is more expensive than some of the cheapo models, but the quality is there and in the long run you will save yourself headaches.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sound and picture
This unit is a little to large to fit under a standard depth cabinet but fit under a corner cabinet with not problem.I picked this nit after comparing the picture and sound with the other available under cabinet unis. The sony is more expensie but a cut above in sound and picture quality. The sound and DVD/CD player are great.Radio reception is a little weak and I need to check with sony if there is a way to add an external antena.
1-0 out of 5 stars Looks nice til you go to try and install....
I don't understand how anyone could use this. Sony didn't consider standard cabinet sizes when they designed this?? There are 90 degree cables that you can get, but still the unit barely fits under our cabinets without any cables. Unless you mounted it in the corner or under a shelf that was extra deep, I wouldn't bother getting this. For the price, I want something that is convenient -- with the installation hassles, this was not. I ended up getting the RCA 9" tv -- it has an undercabint mount -- AND it's a lot cheaper. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!
I, too, wish I could give a 0 star rating. This product is worthless. We get almost no radio stations to come in and the CD player only worked for about a month.A complete waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything works, satisfied so far.
Installed it yesterday, and I couldn't ask for anything better.Everything works just fine.I bought it for the radio feature more than the CD player, but other than the fact that the AM stations don't come in, which is more of a location problem of course, everything works just as it should.I guess I got lucky.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bought 2 and both cd players don't work!
Both myself and my friend bought one of these at Best Buy and on both of them the cd players do not work! Unfortunately by time we figured it out (we both thought it was our cd's not the player) we had thrown the boxes and packing away. My friend has since chucked hers in the garbage but I was holding onto mine hoping to find some recall information on the internet. I have not found it as of yet. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Designed specifically for space-challenged users, such as dorm room residents or listeners with overstuffed bedrooms, this GPX CD player and clock radio mounts beneath a cabinet or other wooden surface to deliver enjoyable audio from an out-of-the-way location. The device comes with a mounting template, screws, and spacers, and its extremely slim chassis takes up virtually no space while still offering most of the essential features that listeners expect. The front-loading device delivers CD programming for both audio CDs and CD-Rs, along with a backlit digital LCD display. The AM/FM tuner also transmits weather and TV bands, so listeners can catch up on the audio of their favorite TV programs or track the weather throughout the day. The onboard clock features a timer, sleep timer, and alarm, the last of which users can coordinate with the CD, radio, or traditional buzzer tone. In addition, the system's membrane keypad is easy to operate, with soft-touch controls that respond gently to a listener's touch. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your pennies until you can get the Sony!
We bought one a couple years back, and returned it in less than a week. The reception was poor, the CD player quit working, and even when it did, the sound quality was tinny and shallow. We were almost glad to have an excuse to bring it back--though none to pleased with our holes in the cabinet!
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product!
I ordered this cd player/radio to mount under my kitchen cabinets. The cd player would not open.We had already made holes in the cabinets. They sent me a replacement which was also broken. The cd player will not work.I have been informed that none of them work due to a defect. So I can't take it down and send it back because I have made holes in the cabinets.

2-0 out of 5 stars It works but poor tuner
Well, there is no way to improve the very poor tuner.. unable to get even the strongest stations without some other station stepping on it. CD player works if you move the secret switch on the side- Very poor monoral sound.. no real stereo.. kind of sound like a kids toy. Mounting, however, was a real treat- no prob at all and very straightforward. Still, all you have is a second rate unit. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Radio reception stinks.Period.
As others have written in their reviews, the radio reception on this is simply horrible. The manual and their website suggest extending the power cord to improve reception. However, nothing we did made it tolerable to listen any station on the dial; the static and noise were simply not acceptable. We have three or four other radios in the house that all pull in the stations just fine, so it must be this unit.
3-0 out of 5 stars Hey, It's Only a Kitchen Radio!
Fits under the counter nicely -- no problems with the template or drilling the holes (took about 15 minutes to hook the thing up and get it playing)
4-0 out of 5 stars This is a niche product, and Sony's is the best out there at this price
Others have stated the pros and cons well.Concerning reception--ours is better than mediocre. My wife uses it more, and she's very satisfied. When I hear it, I'm comparing it with my car's--I like my car's better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great under counter TV
I have read the other reviews and it seems people with problems with the picture are not reading the manual. The zoom modes distort the picture. This is not a flaw, but rather how it is supposed to work. You can always just leave it 4:3 and have the black bars if you dont want the distortion.
5-0 out of 5 stars Audio/Visual
Great product.Excellent sound. Screen is a little small, but that was expected. Great picture though. All in all we are real pleased with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product ....
Great product! 4-0 out of 5 stars 3 yrs and going strong!!
I wanted one of these so bad and my husband got me one for xmas 3 yrs ago.....I LOVE IT!!! my hibby installed it no problems and I Literally have it on almost all day long, while I cook, clean, etc. My cd player works just fine and so does the radio (unless of course I have the microwave running, which is right next to it then it gets a little staticy but I think thats normal)...basically I love this and would recommend this esp for the great price!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars One nice radio/cd player.
I bought this player about a month ago after installing one for a friend. I liked the way it looked and sounded in her kitchen and decided thatI wanted one for me. Its a nice unit that is easy to use and has 15 pre-sets for the radio. The slot for the cd holds one cd.The sound is good, not great. I especially liked the instructions and template for installation. It made it very easy tolook like a professional install. Especially for a guy who is all thumbs.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dissatisfied
If I were buying this item strictly for the radio, I'd be very satisfied. However, I bought it with the idea of playing CDs in my kitchen while I cook.An excellent idea - if the CD player actually worked! We also tried all of the suggestions in the manual to no avail. It rarely works; I'm very disappointed. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Broke after playing it 2 times
Maybe I got a bad unit, but mine broke down and the CD wouldn't play after using it only 2 times. The radio continued to work for about another day, and then it too went dead. Now, all I'm left with is a $69.00 clock w/timer!I bought this a few months early as a Christmas gift, so by the time Christmas morning rolled around, it was too late to return the darn thing. If you're going to buy this model, I suggest trying it out a few dozen times as soon as you get home to make sure it's not a lemon like mine was.

4-0 out of 5 stars good unit
Not bad sounds good works good is nice a bit cheesy but still nice.sounds very good for the little speakers it has but its because of the two step bass boost.the only reason i gave this 4 stars is cause it needs to come in nice colors and the bass boost

3-0 out of 5 stars No Batteries!
The biggest drawback to the Sony radio is the loss of all the presets every time the power goes out. The lack of a battery back up or the ability to store presets in hard memory is a serious drawback if you actively use presets.

1-0 out of 5 stars Looks great, even with broken CD player.
Very upset, was a gift for mothers day 2 yrs ago; (to my mom) CD player ceased working a month after the warranty ended.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy Reception!
I admit I live in an area with fairly congested radio towers (there are several within a 1/2 mile radius), but there's not excuse for the lousy reception this unit has and its lack of a jack to plug in an antenna. Considering that both my home stereo and my hand-crank emergency radio work just fine, this appears to be nothing more than poor engineering by Sony. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Bad....
How do you mess up a push-button radio?I have been an electronics/computer geek for about forty years, since I was in junior high school. I'm comfortable with electronic equipment, and I found this piece of junk too irritating to have in the house. The button functions were doubled up in a way that made no sense. The whole interface was way too geeky without the geek charm of eventually making sense if you stick with it.
1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality - CHEAP
Received this and it was in a ripped box.The volume control didn't work and the tuner didn't work. This was returned immediately.VERY poor quality.Disappointed, but refund was given.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatly exceeded my expectations!
I appreciate the several undercounter appliances I have in my kitchen: an undercounter can opener, coffee maker and GE Spacemaker clock radio. I wanted another clock radio for the bathroom, but I can't seem to find the GE Spacemaker available anywhere. So I found this Jensen radio here on Amazon.

Editorial Review

A must-have for crowded kitchens and offices with little counter or desk space, the GPX KC2805 radio delivers high-quality stereo sound to the full spectrum of AM/FM stations without displacing a single appliance. That's because the radio attaches neatly and conveniently to the bottom surface of a nearby cabinet or desk shelf, which is often the only unused space in a room. The location is so discreet, in fact, that guests may have trouble discerning just where the sound is coming from. In the meantime, listeners can enjoy their favorite music or talk radio programs while cooking up a storm or working on a business proposal. To install, merely attach the included mounting bracket with wood screws, then slide the radio into the bracket. Once up and running, you'll have access to not only all commercial and public stations, but also an alarm (to remind you when your favorite show is about to start) and a timer (for cooking or other uses). In addition, the clock's 0.6-inch red LED display is easy to read, even through steam from boiling water or smoke from frying meat. You can set the alarm to play either music or beeping, and should the under-cabinet location prove inconvenient, you can also store the radio on a counter or a tabletop (a stand is included). And as with the best alarm clocks, the KC2805 also comes with a slot for a 9-volt battery (not included) to protect against power failure. This battery backup feature remembers your time and alarm programming should the AC power go out.Read more

Does your dorm room offer space for a bed and little more? Do you covet a kitchen radio but can't find space for it between the food processor and the coffeemaker? Consider the GPX KCD-P2004 clock radio with AM/FM tuner, which installs conveniently under a cabinet or desk shelf to save space while still offering a full array of features. The slim clock functions as a timer (for kitchen applications) an alarm (for bedrooms), or just a plane old-fashioned radio (for any room), with alarm settings for both buzzer and radio wakeup. Should users need a bit of extra sleep, the clock also offers a sleep timer with snooze button. And regardless of whether your eyes are clouded by sleep crusties or pre-sifted baking flour, the clock's digital display is crisp and easy to read. Additional features include a pair of built-in speakers, a membrane keypad that cleans easily, and a battery backup compartment that protects against power failure. The clock comes with mounting hardware and instructions, and its mounting bracket removes easily should users want to install the clock on a tabletop instead. In addition, the KCD-P2004 carries a three-month warranty on parts and labor. Read more

An ideal recipe for great-sounding entertainment in the kitchen, GE's Spacemaker AM/FM/TV band clock radio installs discretely underneath a counter, cabinet, or desktop, where it delivers space-efficient performance time and again. The device, which sports an attractive white finish, is designed to complement most kitchen appliances and many countertops, adding to its appeal. Audio-wise, the Spacemaker includes a digital AM/FM tuner that lets you listen to everything from music channels to NPR programs while you prep foods, along with accompanying TV band tuner that picks up the audio frequencies of channels 2 through 13. The tuner even picks up weather band channels, so you'll always know when the weather is taking a turn for the better or a nasty storm is rolling into town. Adding to the convenience are the 20 station presets (five for each band), which let you quickly switch to your favorite channel or surf among several.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the modest price
Like another reviewer, we bought this as a replacement for an (much)earlier model. That one lasted quite a few years; this is one is even better. It's more compact, reception is excellent in FM, AM and TV, and very straightforward to operate, and the counter light is extremely useful. (Reception obviously depends on where you put it and how many radio stations you normally get well. The info booklet says to stretch out the cord for better reception, as the cord acts as an FM antenna; I didn't find it necessary to do that, however).
2-0 out of 5 stars poor reception
most fm stations that i canreceive with clarity on otherreceiverscome in with static. fortunately the station i usually listen tocomes in with clarity.

3-0 out of 5 stars GE 74235 Spacemaker AM/FM Undercabinet Radio
The GE Spacemaker undercabinet radio is, in general, a well designed compact unit. We purchased this radio to replace an older GE Spacemaker version. The new radio used the same mounting holes. The five presets for each radio band makes it very easy to select favorite radio stations. One of the disapointing features is the blue light background makes reading the clock rather difficult. Also, the description in the Amazon writeup indicated that the radio comes with a battery backup and bass speaker adjustment, but our unit did not have these features. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mine works Great, and I love it.
I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about, I have had great luck with this and all of the Memorex products that I have purchased. This item hangs down and is designed to do so, it is a under cabinet mount radio, they all hang down, some more than others....

1-0 out of 5 stars bulk-o-rama
Compared to other models (especially by Sony) this one is quite the clunker! It's very big and hangs down low. It seems very low tech.Once you get a quick look at it, you can tell that design is not a factor at all.Spenda little more and get something cool and sleek that you'll use for years to come.

1-0 out of 5 stars Memorex products are cool, but.....
The MC-3800 that I got had a weak front end (Receiver)and poor sound quality at lower volume levels. The equipment is designed well and functionality is great but fails to produce the sound quality of receivers that are a fraction of the cost. The CD player works great but there again, the lower volume sound levels sound distorted or deminished. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Never will buy another GPX product
Without a doubt, this is the biggest piece of crap ever sold to consumers. The CD player will not open after a month of light use.The knobs are too small to adjust and the sound is of extremely poor quality. Will only pick up stations very close by.Absolute waste of money. My first and last GPX product.Have ordered another brand and this one will be trashed.Too bad I have to give it 1 star, as that is too much!

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste of money.
Too bad there's not a zero star option. I bought this primarily for a kitchen radio. The tuner and volume knobs are so smooth and so tiny you can barely turn them--certainly not with wet or sticky fingertips. The tuner is analog, not digital, so you're lucky to tune in a station at all; it's impossible to avoid interference. Nor is it an option to set it to mono to cut the background hiss. I suppose the CD player works and sounds fine, so I've put it in the laundry in case I ever get around to ironing. If not, taking it to the consignment shop will likely cost less than shipping it back for another $20.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality
I received this radio and had to ship it back the same day.The CD player worked once and never worked again. The knobs are extremely small and hard to turn. The overall craftsmanship of this item is poor.I would suggest you try another unit. ... Read more
