Toshiba 15" - Best value - Shopped around
Yes there were some less expensive 15" LCD's with DVD out there, but after checking numerous web sites and reviews, Toshiba came out on top.I would have to agree with the reviews.My wife and I purchased this for our 19 yr. old daughter.We are all quite impressed with the quality of the picture and sound.Easy to operate.I simply hooked up the cable wire and turned it on.DVD works quite well.No adjustments needed.Light weight.The remote is easy to use. May get another, larger Toshiba LCD/DVD for our bedroom.

Good but nothing outstanding
This is a good, general use 15" LCD/DVD combo.The resolution is very good and hooked up to my cable provider (Comcast), the programs come in with good color, saturation, contrast, and brightness.Out of the box, setup was a snap.The factory default settings especially for "picture" were on the low side and required some boost to get a very acceptable picture.The audio is substantial and not overwhelming.It is quite enough to fill a room.

Nice tv
Overall a very nice tv.It did have a small dent on top of tv like most of the other reviews stated.Definitely a manufacturers packaging problem.One thing I was really disappointed about was there was no memory card slot like the description said.This is one of the reason I decided to purchase.It does have a USB port though in front of the tv which is why I decided to keep.Amazon had best price for this tv online, plus no tax and free shipping.

Product came with a bad picture tube.It had purple clouds on it.The TV may have been damaged in shipment.We decided to return it because Toshiba would not provide at home service and the unit weighed 86 pounds.The service center was also 15 miles away. Amazon paid for a UPS pick up and the TV was tracked as returned but we have yet to get a refund.Amazon was than out of stock of this item or stopped carrying it and could not provide a replacement.Other partners in their system had it a higher price with very high shipping prices so we bought a different brand from Wal-Mart. ... Great for the RV
We were looking for a small light weight TV-DVD combination for our RV.The Axion performs well playing even MPEG 3 and DVD, CDR, and has video input for our digital camcorder.The sound is good, but could use exterior speaker connections.The 12V-120V connector is great for RV users since AC is not always available.With quick mounts, the TV can be used in many locations.The picture quality is very good.

Very rarely am I so impressed where I feel compelled to write up an optional review of something I purchase. But in this case im happy to take the time to do so. My reason for buying this product was to keep informed of news and weather condition's during power outages, I have a 1500 Volt Ampre UPS battery back-ups system hooked up to this TV and between it's very modest voltage requirements, DVD feature, and of course TV capability, It's worked out astronomically well..........The performance and quality of service/reception it provide's is second to NOTHING ive used in the past. Im a 2-Way radio comm's tekky type person, and always beleived in being prepared for the un-expected, but I must stress the point as to how well this little TV work's & what a fine fit and finish the company put into it's production of this DVD/TV/Video Display unit. Thank's Amazon.Com for offering it to us, and for the fine website choices I had available to me. Respectfully Yours....Frank.

Perfect for my needs
In spite of some of the poor reviews for this product, it met all of my expectations 100%. Thanks to the reviews, I understood that the unit doesn't have a builtin antenna or batteries, which was helpful to know in advance. But of course the specifications never claimed those features in the first place.

Quick Delivery

Great picture; poor sound
I have had this for over a year now. I haven't used the battery, and I don't "travel" with it. I use it in the house & for the backyard. The picture is great. There are times the lid does not catch properly. The biggest problem is the volume does not go high enough. Often I read the subtitles since I cannot get the volume any higher. I use it almost every day and it is pretty reliable. I have been pleased with the product except for the sound.

I bought this product to take with us on a family trip. Pro's: It is compact, and easily portable. The rotating screen can rotate all the way around and then fold flat against the DVD player, allowing it to be hung from/between car seats for easy viewing. Picture quality is great! Drawbacks: The battery did not last as long as the three hours it boasted, so my son was not able to watch his entire DVD on the plane ride. Also, it needs a protective case to avoid being dropped, scratched, or damaged in transit. Sound volume is not loud enough unless headphones are used. ... Read more

Convenient but repairing one component is a pain
I have had this model for 2 years now and the DVD player suddenly stopped working.I have to send the whole thing to get it repaired.It is just not worth it!!When it worked, it wasn't bad.Since the DVD and VCR are all inbuilt, I needed only one cable to hook this set up in our bedroom (no clutter!).However, keep in mind that even if one of the component breaks, you have to send the whole thing back!! ... Seems that Toshiba quality has gone down lately!
I've owned several Toshiba televisions over the years, and the one striking feature they all had was solid build quality, and excellent reception and picture quality.Not so with this model.Even with an amplified VHF/UHF antenna, and living in a major metro area, reception is subpar on many channels.The picture jumps a lot (doesn't sync), and is subject to image ghosting.This is a shame because the DVD player, and DVD picture quality is excellent.So, this unit is indeed a 'mixed blessing'.Look elsewhere for a quality 13" TV/DVD combo unit. ... Avoid Audiovox
I actually do not own this model, I have an earlier model VE-500A 5" LCD under cabinet TV.The picture was great and the sound is good.However, it was working well just long enough to go beyond the 90-day warranty.Now, here is how it works:1/3 of the screenis lighter than the rest; after 15-20 minutes the picture goes totally white (but I still get sound at least).To get the picture back, I have to turn it off and let it "cool down" for 20-30 mins.Then I'll get the picture for another 15-20 minutes before it goes white again.
Don't waste your money on this item!
We recently did an extensive remodel of our kitchen and thought this would be a great addition.Unfortunately, as soon as we drilled the holes in our new cabinets to install it, we were sorry.The sound quality is so poor we had to turn it up full volume to understand it, and then it rattles.Note: the advertised size of the screen is not the picture you actually get - it's 2" smaller and poor quality.The 90-day warranty just ran out and the picture wouldn't come on unless you tapped the box.Now it won't come on at all.I would say this is an expensive disposable tv.

We received the Akai 27 inch LCD TV, refurbished and paid $679.00.It was delivered defective with a loud buzzing noise.The product is not refundable & there is no "LIVE" person to speak with from Amazon.We were informed that we had to go through Akai for repair.We have made dozens of phone calls-It has been three weeks and no one has come to repair the TV-Never buy a refurbished TV and never purchase an Akai product.They make promises,will not let us talk to a supervisor or corporate headquarters.Awful!!

my new Akai
I searched all the local stores and could only find a couple of flat screens with a built in DVD player. It seems to me that more would have that feature because the whole point of a flat screen to me is to save space. I put this out in a florida type room and so there wasnt much free space for a table and coventional tv so I thought, flat screen mounted to the wall would be perfect. Then I thought well heck if I have to get a DVD player it has to go on a stand under the tv and there goes my space savings. So a built in DVD player was the answer. WOW what a perfect choice. Huge disappointment
I have had nothing but issues with this product.The screen displays is washed out and the adjustment controls are too limited to fix this.The DVD player constantly skips.The radio antenna is a waste of time. It doesn't pick up anything but the strongest signals and even then with some static.I was leary of an Audiovox product, but wanted the larger screen.My opinion is to forget the extra inch and get the Sony.

Do not buy from Audiovox
This TV broke in the first two weeks I owned it. Both the picture and audio would not work. I brought it to a local repair shop that could not fix it - I called the company and was just outside of their 90 day warranty and they did nothing for me.
Unit failed at 4 months
I like the picture and size of the unit.The sound is a little tinny.Biggest problem is short warranty period.My unit failed after 4 months of occassional use and Audiovox said "too bad it is out of warranty."Maybe they know there is a problem and do not or cannot fix.90 days for a $400 TV is way too short. ... Good, but could have been excellent!
This unit could have been a solid "winner" with a little bit more consideration to product detail. It functions very well but requires the user to adjust the picture on every start-up. Upon turning the unit off, contrast, brightness, tint, color return to factory set values that provide a "washed-out" display. Adjustment allows a broad range of control and a satisfying image can be obtained....BUT upon turning the unit off it resets to factory settings.

Horrible Product, Horrible Service
Like the others who have purchased this awful piece of equipment I experienced the DVD player stopped working at about the 30 day mark.I returned the TV and Philips replaced it with a new one.It's been 5 months and the DVD player still works but now the TV operation is not functioning properly.When I contacted the Philips customer service line I was told that since it is beyond 3 months I'm out of luck.I guess I can use it as a fancy paper weight..................

Everyone seems to be having DVD problems!!!
Everyone else seems to love this TV, but I've had my problems.I've had the TV about 3 months and the DVD player decided to stop working.It makes a whirring and clicking sound, but won't load the DVD.I called Magnavox just in time becuase my warranty was about to expire in 3 days.They are making me ship them the TV at my expense, and then they will send me a new one.Even when this TV was working I felt the picture was too dark, and I had to turn the brightness up really high to get a good picture.Also, the speakers are good quality, but just not loud enough.My friend has a Kodak LCD TV and it seems to be much better quality than the Magnavox.I think this unit is just overpriced...not a good value!

Good Value, but DVD player broke after about 60 days
Update: After about 60 days, the DVD player stopped working. I'm currently waiting for service to be completed. I had purchased the Circuit City service plan so I am not forced to mail the TV to Philips at my own expense. I'm reducing the rating I originally gave based on the fact that 4 out of 5 reviews on this site have had the DVD player fail. 2 Stars - it's a good TV, but the DVD player is junk.

very disappointed
To be fair, I did not purchase from Amazon. I received the toshiba 37HLV66 a couple of days ago. Plugged everything in, then turned it on, and nothing, no pic no sound, no nothing. called toshiba expecting toreceive replacement. They refused and gave me a phone # to call and have it repaired. Repairing a brand new tv?????? Well that is toshiba for you, they do not stand behind their product. This is the last time I have purchase a toshiba product.

Toshiba Has A Winner
Have had the set for less than a week but am amazed at the out of the box performance of the REGZA 37LCD. In shopping we compared Sharp and Mitsubishi 37 LCDs. Toshiba and Mitsubishi both have excellent picture quality but the Toshiba is less expensive. Running with DirecTV's new HD DVR, the HD picture is absolutely great, I think equaling Sony's high end XBR LCDs. The picture quality with non-HD signals is the best I have seen with any LCD set. The menu system is great, simple and intuitive, with a huge range of controlable settings. The only down side is the set doesn't have a swiveling base so getting to the built in DVD player is difficult if the set is in an entertainment center cabinet. The up side on the DVD is very good performance with all DVDs. A great LCD set and reasonably priced.

Extra Features need some work
I agree with previous comments re. picture quality. I disagree w/ comments on the remote. It is overly complicated which is even more complicated in low light since it is not back lit. TV Guide feature needs to be easier to use - it is a helpful feature though if you use a Cable Card. It is very nice to be free of the cable box! The reason I gave 3 stars is that a product at this premium price should be perfect.

A very nice HDTV/DVD combo
Toshiba has done it again!The HDTV picture is sharp and lifelike, and the unit includes easy-to-use picture reformatting options to watch TV-formatted movies and sports on the wide screen.The included DVD player also plays music discs and MP3 CDs, with some of the best sound I have ever heard from a stereo TV.This unit is priced higher than similarly-sized HDTVs (without DVD) but it is a premium product worth a little extra.
