3-0 out of 5 stars great for a computer monitor via dvi but sucks for everything el
got this tv back in april. as others have noted the hum is the most annoying part. but thankfully I using it just as a monitor. I have it hooked up to a intel mac 1.66 mini. the picture is outstanding. using component for the computer sucks. dvi is the only way to go.
1-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE! Syntax Warranty!
Syntax clearly states that their warranty is only good for the origninal purchaser. I got my daughter one as a gift, gave it to her bran new, in the factory sealed box and Syntax refuses to honor the warranty, (and yes I calld everywere and tried everything).
1-0 out of 5 stars Screen busted within 18 months - TV is now totally useless
I bought the Olevia 30" through Amazon back in March 2005 (at a cost of $1150 plus delivery at the time) ... a few days ago - Saturday July 29 2006, the screen suddenly went black and the TV died - the sound still worked but no vision. I had a TV expert friend look at it yesterday - and he said that it has gone for good ...

4-0 out of 5 stars Does Exactly what it says...
I ordered this on the 26th of June and it wasn't supose to come til the 12 of July. It came early today.... big plus. The one i recieved isn't the same color as shown in the picture.... its silver but the handle and the place where all the knobs and stuff are is a dark grey color. Other then that this a very nice lil gadget just to have for emergencies or small outings.... something that is just nice to have. YOu don't have to handle it with baby hands... but nothing you should exspect to have for a long while either. I'm happy with it. =) just a lil tiffed about the color. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Do they still make these?
I purchased this TV as a replacement for a RCA 24" TV.The price was right and I have purchased Sylvania TVs in the past. What I did not realize was that this TV should be outdated.First I noticed that the TV is mono sound. It is not stereo sound.Do they even make TVs without stereo sound anymore?Apparently they do.But it got worse. This model only has RCA plugs in the front. It has none in the back. The only plug in the back is the basic cable plug.I guess this is what I get for making assumptions. If you are looking for a television with absolutely no thrills, buy this one.Otherwise, spend an extra $30 to get stereo and plugs in the back.

4-0 out of 5 stars TV is great .. AMAZON SUCKS
This is a great quality TV, but due to space problems we were ready to spend an extra $1000 with Amazon and exchange it for a bigger TV.It turns out TVs over 27" are non-refundable.. Such BS..If you have such an unusual policy, you must make it more visible.. It is casually stated amongs one million lines of junk information Amazon puts on its pages.Needless to say, Amazon lost me for life.. and I do not just say things like that, I mean it..The fact that they would not let me exchange for an item almost twice as expensive should also be declared the biggest idiocy in retail policy creation.. Only if Jeff Bezos knew..!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Suffers from burn in.
I bought this TV from Best Buy and at the time was assured by the salesmen that this TV was in his words, "anti burn in."
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Picture (HDTV and SDTV!!!), Great Price, I Love It!
TV was delivered first thing this morning.Lightweight, packed great, easy setup for two people.

4-0 out of 5 stars OK for TV, but great for XBOX360
I purchased this TV for my bedroom. After reading several reviews, I decided to take a chance (at $699 I couldn't resist).First the bad, color and clarity are not as good as my Panasonic 50" lcd projection tv. I spent about two days playing with the picture settings to find the picture that is acceptable to me, part of the problem is the broadcast cable source is not that great and there is a lot of variation of picture quality from channel to channel.
2-0 out of 5 stars Good news: $699.00.....Bad news: very so-so picture
I had this TV for 1 week in my basement family room and was pretty disappointed, even with a HD picture. You really get what you pay for with this TV. I couldnt stand it anymore and found a 32" Phillips HD LCD for about the same price on sale. HUGE difference !!!! Luckily, they returned the Vizio for my full purchase price. Honestly, only buy this TV if you absolutely only have 699.00 to spend. And dont compare the picture to other name brand LCD's. You'll regret your purchase.
4-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, value.
Congratulations for those who value their hard earn dollar that wanted a large wide screen HDTV LCD and got the Vizio L32HDTV 32". If you got some extra cash and is a video expert, you might as well past on this set. For values and features there are none even close. The image is great, but not the best in term of sharpness. I am going to compare this to a Panasonic HDTV 26" square tube and the SHARP LC-26SH10U 26" LCD HDTV.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELENT, AND THE PRICE IS IRRESISTIBLE....
FORGET THE RECONIZED BRANDED TVS AND ITS EXPENSIVE PRICE. THIS LCD HAVE A VERY CLEAR IMAGE, EXCELENT NOISE REDUCTION FEATURES, VIVID COLORS AND WELL BALANCED BLACK CONTRAST. THE ONLY BAD IS THE CHEAPER REMOTE CONTROL, BUT FORGET THAT, THE IMPORTANT HERE IS THE PICTURE QUALITY. I RECOMEND THIS TV FOR EVERY ONE.

This is an excellent plasma TV. I have it for little more than 6 months and I am happy that I bought this baby!
5-0 out of 5 stars Great EDTV Plasma!
This is a beautiful TV.I've had it for 6 months and I am very happy with it.For one, the minimalism of it.I just wanted a monitor. I didn't need a tuner since I have a HD cable box and I didn't need speakers since I have a great surround sound system. Also, I find it distracting that consumer versions of flat screens have all that stuff attached, as one reason people like flat screens are the aesthetics. I think the EDTV picture is excellent, and I feel comfortable I made the right decision to not jump on the HDTV bandwagon right now.I am constantly comparing my EDTV to friend's HDTVs and I think their picture is totally inferior, whether it's DVD or regular television or even an HD broadcast. It's a great buy and a great upgrade from a CRT.Very happy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great TV..that needs a few extras
Great TV.Much more affordable that HDTV and it lookspretty much the same.So much so, I bought this TV twice and may buy two more.Make sure you decide if you're going to mount it on the wall or put it on a stand and buy these accessories at the same time that you are buying this tv.You may also need some adapters BNC to RCA etc.All in All...I great buy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great small HDTV
This TV is the new model of the KDL-23S2000. It now includes a QAM/ATSC digital tuner. Also, it is black, and in my opinion, looks much nicer (kind of like the more expensive XBR). I previously owned last year's 26" model, and it had a stuck red pixel in the center and motion blur so horrible it made gaming impossible. I'm happy to report that my TV has absolutely no malfunctioning pixels and has very minimal motion blur. In short, you can finally play games on an LCD without getting sick. Also, it does have an input switch button (I think last year's model did not, forcing you to navigate the menu to change inputs). The colors are a lot more natural than the Samsung since it doesn't have Samsung's mandatory DNe "cartoon colors" processor.

We received the Akai 27 inch LCD TV, refurbished and paid $679.00.It was delivered defective with a loud buzzing noise. The product is not refundable & there is no "LIVE" person to speak with from Amazon. We were informed that we had to go through Akai for repair. We have made dozens of phone calls-It has been three weeks and no one has come to repair the TV-Never buy a refurbished TV and never purchase an Akai product. They make promises, will not let us talk to a supervisor or corporate headquarters.Awful!!

5-0 out of 5 stars my new Akai
I searched all the local stores and could only find a couple of flat screens with a built in DVD player. It seems to me that more would have that feature because the whole point of a flat screen to me is to save space. I put this out in a florida type room and so there wasnt much free space for a table and coventional tv so I thought, flat screen mounted to the wall would be perfect. Then I thought well heck if I have to get a DVD player it has to go on a stand under the tv and there goes my space savings. So a built in DVD player was the answer. WOW what a perfect choice. Beautiful picture, no floor space taken up and built in DVD player. I love it and highly recommend it. ... Read more

The 32-inch Toshiba 32DF46 flat-screen CRT television features a standard 4:3 aspect ratio screen and 480i (interlaced) display resolution, which isn't compatible with the pristine imagery of true high-def resolution broadcasts. However, it does feature a 16:9 aspect ratio mode with zoom functionality for enjoyment of widescreen DVD movies and high-def TV programming. And you'll still be able to receive digital broadcasts thanks to the set's built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner--which pulls HD signals right from the airwaves--and its QAM tuner that is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. Surprisingly slim at just 23 inches deep, its attractive silver and gray cabinet will look great in any room. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Sony 36 inch Stereo Color TV
Have you been shopping lately? Standard 4:3 screen aspect ratio CRT Television sets are becoming a thing of the past. One major audio/video retailer in my area no longer carries standard CRT TV sets. In other words they carry no tube TV sets, just flat screen sets. They only carry 16:9 (screen aspect ratio) LCD and Plasma sets! I find this sudden transition incredible, unbelievable and very naive. I prefer a large 4:3 CRT screen. For me they are much brighter and more vivid. The Sony KD36FS170 36" FD Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan Digital Television is an excellent 4:3 set. It has a Digital 3-line comb filter that increases picture resolution and reduces noticeable dot-crawl, which is visible on less expensive 36-inch brands. It has Rear audio and composite video inputs as well as an S-video input for DVD, Laser Disc players and Super-VHS recorders for higher picture resolution. The picture on this TV set is excellent

5-0 out of 5 stars Liked my 13 inch Sony I purchased the 36 inch
Didn't want to cough up twice the price for pasma or LCD and really didn't have the 700$ difference for HD.Have no regrets about getting the KD-36FS170.Fits the bill perfectly!DVD,Digital Cable and even greater with the Dish this is last of the CRT's.Sitting away 12 feet the picture quality is short of stunning.Sound is OK,and you will never move this baby by yourself. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Seems that Toshiba quality has gone down lately!
I've owned several Toshiba televisions over the years, and the one striking feature they all had was solid build quality, and excellent reception and picture quality. Not so with this model.Even with an amplified VHF/UHF antenna, and living in a major metro area, reception is subpar on many channels. The picture jumps a lot (doesn't sync), and is subject to image ghosting. This is a shame because the DVD player, and DVD picture quality is excellent. So, this unit is indeed a 'mixed blessing'.Look elsewhere for a quality 13" TV/DVD combo unit. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
For the price, this TV is pretty impossible to beat.It has HDMI with HDCP, an increasingly important feature.Picture quality is so-so.It's no plasma, but it scales well enough.HD looks really good.Regular DVDs, notso much.Build quality is up to snuff, but it makes a clicking sound at regular intervals that drives me crazy.Speaker quality is truly abysmal.Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of computer speakers to go with the TV if you get it.I wish it had a digital tuner, but TVs don't come with those smaller than 26".
