Editorial Review

The first USB turntable that lets you convert your old vinyl collection directly to CD or MP3, the Ion Audio iTTUSB is a must for people who don't want to deal with clumsy adapters or mismatched software when transferring formats. Requiring no special drivers, the turntable comes with Audacity, a recording application that works with both PCs and Macs, as well a trial version of Bias Soundsoap 2 to clean and restore vinyl recordings. As an alternative, the turntable also works with any other software that supports USB audio input sound cards. Once connected, the turntable transfers both 33-1/3 rpm albums and 45 rpm singles to digital formats in mere minutes. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars sounds much better than expected
I bought this unit in order to transfer some of my old LPs to iPod. I expected the result to be comparable to the old days of recording to tape: Pops and other noise permanantly recorded onto a new medium. Wrong! The Audacity software makes it easy to remove minor background crackles and pops. It's also easy to divide the final recording into individual tracks, and to normalize the volume so your various recordings have a balanced output level. The final recordings sound surprisingly good, with a full mid-range and not much of the digital tinny sound that is present on some CD's.
5-0 out of 5 stars Works great - be sure to download latest Audacity
With this product I am able to "rip" records for which I've never been able to find a CD.This is great for listening on my iPod to those obscure songs I really like.
4-0 out of 5 stars great timesaver for burning vinyl
All these reviewers complain of cheap construction and lack of frills but I'd imagine all these people, like myself, have another turntable. I would not recommend this as your only turntable but for the job of burning your vinyl to your hard drive, this is a godsend. Setup seemed pretty straight forward although I have a Vaio, not a Dell, so I can't speak for that system. If you want to burn MP3's, you will need to download LAME, a quick google search away. Remember where you put Lame on your hard drive as you will need to tell Audacity (the Ion software program) where the Lame_enc.dll driver is the first time you make an MP3. I burned my first album with in an hour of opening the box. I see many happy hours ahead of me with my Ion! ... Read more

Audio-Technica's AT-PL120 direct-drive, high-torque professional turntable is perfect for DJs and other music enthusiasts, especially in an era that many would call "postvinyl," when it's no longer the norm for audio/video receivers or even integrated amplifiers to offer a dedicated phono input. A selectable internal stereo phono preamplifier lets you plug the turntable directly into any line-level input, even your PC's (when used with a stereo RCA to minijack "Y" adapter cable, not included). Alternately, you can use the player's phono output and an outboard, higher-quality phono preamplifier for even better sound quality.Read more

Features

  • Selectable internal stereo phono preamplifier--choose from phono or line-level output
  • Direct-drive, high-torque motor; includes professional cartridge and headshell
  • Selectable 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm speeds; +/-10 percent or +/-20 percent pitch adjust; high-accuracy quartz-controlled pitch lock
  • S-shaped tone arm assembly with adjustable counterweight, antiskate adjustment, tone-arm height adjustment and lock
  • Measures 17.8 x 6 x 13.9 inches (W x H x D)

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible deal-don't miss out on this!
First of all, let me say that I am a very discerning music listener, and have always talked of the superiority of vinyl to all other music playback mediums. This turntable is by far the best you can get on a budget, surpassing many far more expensive than it in both sound quality and options. If you are considering buying a less expensive table, please do yourself a favour and stop. You will only be subjecting yourself to poor quality sound, and even worse craftsmanship as most tables under $200 will only last you a few years at most (I know from experience, unfortunately).
5-0 out of 5 stars Super craftmanship
I've been impressed with every facet of this machine...quiet, easy to operate, and great reproductive sound. I am in the process of transforming all my LPs to CDs so I use this baby nearly every day. Don't see how anyone could be disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Terrifice value - excellent sound quality
I purchased this turntable with the express purpose of converting my large collection of LP's to digital format. This seemed to be the best quality offered from its description for the price.I can tell you that I am not dissapointed at all.The manufacture is excellent, the platter is solid, and the sound reproduction right out of the box surpassed my expectations.Setup was fairly easy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is that this is a completely manual turntable so you have to lift the arm manually at the end of the record. ... Finally, there's a way to burn vinyl to CD that doesn't require a computer or an engineering degree. You can record the entire album or simply pull select favorites from your entire collection to make your own unique compilations. Monitor your recording through the systems amplifier (3.5 watts per channel x 2) and twin 3-inch speakers, or avail yourself of the convenient front-panel .125-inch headphone jack.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Does the job, if you don't care about quality
As others have said, the quality of the turntable is really poor. I can't believe that a reputable company like Teac would turn out such a cheap quality product. The tone-arm is far too heavy on the record, and there is no way to adjust it. If all you really want to do is get your vinyl on to a CD, well, this will do the job without being too complicated; but at the cost of having good quality sound.
1-0 out of 5 stars I wish I could give zero stars!!!Save your time and $$$!
Like many others, I have a huge collection of L.P.'s and have been looking for an easy way to turn them digital.I thought this was the way to go.
1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
I set this up and recorded one of my LP's on a CD. (Caution: It requires special audio CD's not the usual computer CD's.) The CD played on the TEAC machine, but not on any of the 3 other CD players I have in the house. And I couldn't load any of the tracks onto my Ipod. Sending it back for something else. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Be careful please
I implore you to be very careful about your turntable purchase decision. This Sony table will not make the most out of your listening experience. It has very low quality playback (the stylus picks up more scratches than it does music), the included preamp is mediocre at best, and the belt drive is slightly off pitch. This was my first turtable purchase, and a much regretted one. After only a few years, the motor broke and played only at 45 rpm, necesitating another purchase. I understand what it is to be on a budget, and $60 is very tempting, but if you have to spend that every few years, it adds up fast. You will really be doing yourself a favour in the long run if you spend the extra money on a nicer one and eat raman noodles for a while. The Audio-Technica AT-PL120 direct drive turntable featured on this page is a far superior system, and will give you many more years of faithful service in addition to a much better listening experience. However, if $200 is far out of your reach, then this won't be a horrible table to whet your appetite for a while, and the average listener won't mind the difference in playback quality.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disposable turntable.
I bought this turntable and got a couple years use out of it, and while it worked, it worked. If you're buying something to use once in a blue moon, this one might do.But if you actually play your records, sooner or later, you'll need to replace the stylus.Or the cartridge.Either way, if you buy this one, you're out of luck. The diamond fell of the stylus on mine, and there doesn't seem to be anything that's replaceable. There's no removable cartridge like you'd find on any decent quality turntable manufactured in the 1980s. Now there doesn't seem to be anything to do with mine other than throw it in the trash. It wasn't terribly expensive--the whole turntable can be had for not a whole lot more than a good quality cartridge--so it's disposability isn't that big a deal from a strictly economic standpoint. But darn it, it just rubs me the wrong way.I'd rather pay a bit more to have something that I can still use ten years down the line than to save a few bucks on something that's going to end up in a landfill in a couple years.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great but not stackable :(
After listening to 7 or 8 vinyls I fell back in love with my old albums - but then after laying down and having to get up every 4 tracks to flip the discs - I recalled a time when I could stack 4,5,6,7,8,9...albums and they would drop and keep on playing - then you flipped them all over to hear the B-sides.I hate getting up.I don't have knobs on my TV (remember that UHF knob ugh!) to switch channels every 30 minutes, why would I want to get up right in the middle of a great series of albums?

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I have used this system for cleaning my vinyl for more than 20 years. They've been around for a long time, and stayed around even throughout the years when vinyl wasn't "cool."I'm sure there are more expensive ways to clean a record, but this is by far the most effective for the least cash.It even works on old vinyl that hasn't been taken care of, as in being sticky or just generally yucky, which those expensive so-called vacuum systems may not remove.Always clean your records in the direction of the grooves (this is included in the instructions) and you will enjoy your recordings for many, many years to come.I have records over 40 years old that still sound brand new because I use the Discwasher.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still the best LP cleaning system in 30 years
One can obtain more fancy and expensive LP cleaning devices that sell in the $500 to $900 range. However, for the modest price, Discwasher remains one of the best and most effective on the market. As one can see from the photo, Discwasher consists of a rounded striated cushion affixed to a wooden handle, the whole thing the size of a small blackboard eraser. Three drops of special fluid (one can use filtered water) are smeared along one edge of the cushion which is then gently pressed against the spinning disc, picking up ambient dust by some sort of capillary or static-elec action. Then the dry side is applied as the finishing touch. I still use mine religiously. The very popular Discwasher is not only cheap, but unlike similar models that have come and gone, the damn thing really works! I'm surprised and frankly, reassured, that this handy and, for this die-hard vinyl user, indispensable item is still on the market. ... Read more

The Numark PT01 portable turntable is an ideal unit for DJs on the go. Measuring a mere 12 by 12 inches, the turntable comes with a full array of features yet stores conveniently inside the average record crate for simple and efficient transport. The size, however, is just window dressing compared to the unit's DJ functions. DJs will also appreciate the +/- 10 percent pitch control, along with the tone and volume controls. 1-0 out of 5 stars Product is Garbage, Numark is No Help
I have a massive record collection, and had continued buying records even after the Aiwa turntable I had stopped working.I saw this on Amazon and saw it was small, reasonably priced, and had a pitch control.Initially I played my 7" records on it, and it was just fine.Once I started playing my 12" records the trouble began.About halfway through any record I play the pitch begins to waver (subtly speeds up and slows down).I contacted Numark and told them about the problem.I got a response telling me I needed to buy a different needle to play 78 RPM records on the turntable. This was a confusing response as I hadn't even mentioned 78 RPM records in my e-mail (nor do I own any).So I write again and explain that my question wasn't answered. So then I'm told I should try to balance the arm properly.I write back again and say that I mentioned in BOTH my e-mails that the unit I was inquiring about was a PT-01, and this model has a pre-balanced (non-adjustable) arm.Numark wrote back "oh you're right, just return to dealer".Unfortunately it's too late for that, and Numark was NO help.Their customer service 'team' couldn't even be bothered to read e-mails and answer accordingly.Do not buy this unit, I wasted $100 and now I have to buy a new turntable.I assure you, it won't be a Numark!

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap turntable skips alot.
I bought this to copy my stack of vinyl to CD's. Unfortunatly, the record players cheap price reflects its performance. I was not able to copy a single LP to CD without it skipping tracks. There are no adjustments on the turntable. I finally dug out my old Dual 1218 and revived it enough to use it. There is no match between my 30+ year old Dual and the PL50. So far the Dual has played all records without a single skip. After spending many hours trying to be happy with my purchase, I finally threw the PL50 in the trash. I would not want to sell it in a garage sale or on eBay to someone who would expect a turntable that they could use. Save your money, don't buy this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value
As a non audiophile I am impressed by the ease of setup. Finding the right XP settings is the biggest headache. I am recording my 2nd LP while writing this. After one glitch of the belt slipping off the turntable everything is working as advertised. Splitting into tracks seems difficult but at least my 40 year old jazz records can live a little longer. ... Read more

Technics' SLBD20D is an entry-level semiautomatic turntable. It's capable of playing at either 33-1/3 or 45 rpm (using the included adapter) with no need to adjust tracking force or anti-skating. The low-mass tonearm and supplied P-mount moving magnet cartridge will coax sweet sounds out of your record collection. The P-mount cartridge (supplied) requires very little setup (it simply plugs in to the end of the tonearm) and is easily user replaceable. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What they don't tell you
We ordered this turntable and it arrived in a timely fashion. It was easy to hook up.HOWEVER we were unable to get any volume.I e-mailed Panasonic which their answer was so delayed that I had solved the problem.Their suggestions were of no value anyway.I called Panasonic and spoke to three different departments. No one knew what the problem was. Finally we were told we needed a phono preamp because the turn table did not have one built in.Panasonic did not make one and did notknow where I could find one.We found one at Amazon, it arrived quickly. It took five minutes to hook up and we were good to go.I think Panasonic does a great disservice by not mentioning this in its ad.The phono preamp was a Recoton by Beach Audio and cost $25.16 plus shipping.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fine turntable to play that old Decca Phase 4 vinylon
I had doubts about a simple turntable doing the job as well as this one. It works just fine. Tracks well, and the included cartridge is not at all bad in squeezing decent sound out of those old albums. This is semi automatic, meaning you set a switch to "cuing,' place the tone arm above the lead in track. Then close the plastic hatch if you like, and then move the switch to the down position. After the last track, the arm returns to its plastic holder. It is easier than it sounds. For initial setup the skinny silicone rubber belt needs to be slipped onto a shaft that connects to the platter underneath the unit (a two minute job with a pencil) and then you are good to go. This one will sit on a shelf with about 10" of hatch clearance. I attached the ground wire, but I suspect that it is not needed. I would place it on a stable shelf just for avoiding thumps at low frequency if you touch the shelf during play.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent turntable for the money
This turntable performs flawlessly, the factory adjustments are right on spec... Sound quality is very good... If you want to listen to music and not constantly mess with adjustments then this is the one to get... The supplied stylus tracks very well, never skips or jumps, and produces very good quality sound... I also have one of those so called DJ turntables with direct drive and all the beeps and whistles for adjustments and a very expensive shure stylus with it, and the sound quality is just as good with this semi-automatic SLBD20D.Plus with a direct drive you can hear the rumble of the direct drive system if you listen closely... with the belt drive there is no wow or flutter associated with the mechanical operation of the platter... In my opinion a belt drive table is the only way to go for superior sound quality... Don't worry about replacing the belt due to wear, if you can't spring for $5.00 to $10 every 5 to 10 years then suffer with rumble of a direct drive... by the way the direct drive rubber wheel can also wear and get hard and crack and it cost alot more to replace than a simple rubber band...I suppose that there are other brands that are a little less expensive that would get the job done as well but I happen to trust Technics, they have been making turntables a long time and also their turntables are the benchmarks by which all others are compared too.

Enjoy remarkably accurate tracking, separation, and performance when listening to vinyl with this dual-moving magnet phono cartridge. The 1/2-inch mount cartridge features a MicroLine shaped diamond stylus that tracks portions of the groove that other styli simply cannot reach, ensuring that high-frequency passages sound clear and crisp. The multi-level shape also wears remarkably evenly, extending the lives of both the record and the stylus itself (up to 1,000 hours). In addition, the AT440ML boasts a small curving rate that improves playback over the entire 5 Hz to 32 kHz frequency range, even for the inner part of the record groove. Other features include a gold-plated beryllium cantilever for added durability and a tracking force of 0.8 to 1.6 grams. The stylus is covered by a one-year warranty. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Made a cheap turntable sound great on a high-end system.
I decided to dust off my old Technics direct drive turntable and play some records in the family room for the kids.I connected it to my system, a rather high-end Naim Audio preamp and amp with KEF speakers, and it sounded just like you'd expect a typical turntable would sound when mated with a high end audiophile type stereo system.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not quite the Holy Grail, but close enough.
Since the early 1980s, I've been bugged by end-of-side distortion and so far, only Denon's excellent (but discontinued) DL-304 MC has minimised inner-groove break-up to a notable extent. I read many glowing reviews of the AT440ML and itstracking abilities, so I gave it a go. It has coped remarkably well so far; and it's even outshone the Denon for inner-groove handling on a couple of key, annoying test records. It's a touch on the bright side and somewhat bass-light - and lacks the subtlety I've grown accustomed to from years of moving coil use. Connected to my Musical Fidelity X-LP2 phono stage, it's mind-bogglingly loud to the point of distortion, on many 12" singles. This is a problem, as the X-LP2 only facilitates attenuation of its moving coil input, not the moving magnet.

I've recorded my albums on reel-to-reel tape for over 40 years in order to preserve them.I listen to the tape, and store the vinyl.Cartridges recruited for this duty have been higher end Empires, Stantons, Pickerings, Grados, Shures, a moving coil Ortophon, and others I've forgotten.I decided to archive the albums to DVD.I was only interested in the tracking capability of this cartridge as audio correction would be employed, when needed, using multiple programs for click/pop elimination, noise reduction, and frequency response correction. My decision to buy this cartridge was based on much research, and I almost spent hundreds more on a couple of others.

Editorial Review

Relive the era of sock hops and soda jerks with this classic Teac '50-style stereo system. The SL-A200B combines a mid-20th-century aesthetic (witness the jukebox-like front panel and three-speed semiautomatic turntable) with a modern touch (a front-loading CD player), letting listeners tap into both their classic LP collections and contemporary CD catalogues. The system also includes an analog AM/FM tuner with a rotary dial and a pair of integrated stereo speakers with chrome highlights. It's the belt-driven turntable that really impresses, however, as it not only looks cool, but plays back 33-1/3 rpm albums, 45 rpm singles, and classic jazz-age 78s--a speed for every taste. It also includes a cover that protects the vinyl during playback.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars my new stereo
I ordered this turntable stereo because I have over 300 vinyl albums that I would like to be able to play and recently got rid of my gigantic 1970's era stereo with speakers.I love the compact size of this turntable and the sound quality is just fine. There's nothing like putting on ABBA's greatest hits and hearing "Mamma Mia" coming out of the speakers. It will put a smile on anyone's face!

5-0 out of 5 stars Phonograph, Radio, and CD Player by Teac
I have just received this as a birthday present, and am very pleased with it. While the design of the object remains true to older models, with its sturdy and shiny black plastic outside and jukebox appearance, there are new features that make it possible to play all of your music on one machine- a radio, and a high-tech cd drive. A casette player is not included- not that it really matters, but that might be helpful to someone. A durable cover is included, and there are two display colors, orange and blue, for the backlights that you see when the machine is set on am, fm, phono, and cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars *The* model to buy for those on a budget.
Excellent performance and functionality! Set-up is quick and easy and the pre-amp sounds great. Even handles record scuffage better than other turntables at this price. I went through two exchanges at a retailer on a low-end Sony turntable before I ordered this Pioneer unit through Amazon, and I highly recommend this turntable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grrrrreat!!
I do not pretend to know much about record players, but this was AWESOME! It is virtually perfect! The wavey-old records play flawlessly because of the weighted arm, and it just plain rocks!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great player at a great price.......
When you're comparing turntables on the lower end of the spectrum, such as the Pioneer PL-990, it's very difficult to really find audible fault with these players. One is more apt to find personal faults in the players rather than in the performance, and such is the case here.

Editorial Review

Nostalgic music fans that look back fondly on the radio and TV consoles of the '40s and '50s will delight in the Teac GF-680 stereo system, which combines modern components with a retro design. The system is housed in a classic wooden, four-legged cabinet with old-time speaker panels on the lower front. Above the panels, however, sit all the modern music complements, along with a couple that hark back a few decades. The device is centered around a three-disc drawer-type CD changer for enjoying modern digital formats, along with a three-speed turntable that lets you listen to your original Bowie recordings on vinyl. Users can also revisit the era when pop singles and jazz cuts ruled the airwaves by speeding the turntable to 45 or 78 rpm.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I HAVE AN IDEA....
Hey, I stumbled on these nostalgic stereos, and they doo look very good. Some of them are smaller like those portable turntables we see on movies like "Sabrina"... and others like this one resemble the bigger ones complete with radio and the (more contemporary) CD players...
3-0 out of 5 stars Teac GF-680 Console Stereo
Looks very nice, most of the features work great. Main problem is that the speakers are small, and there only two of them, and they are mounted below knee level. There are 2 RCA style plugs for external speaker, but they did not work. Had to open the back and hook up to the existing speakers. Once i attached 2 additional speakers at head level then the unit sounded great.
4-0 out of 5 stars how tall are you?
I really am enjoying this new stereo. It was very easy to program with radio stations and the quality of the sound is very good.My one spot of difficulty is in reading the buttons for the cassette player. They are labeled in such a way that one must squat down and be at eye level with them.I bought the model that has legs and stands on the floor.I wish I had purchased the model that sits on a tabletop. ... Editorial Review

Reminiscent of the all-in-one units that people owned in the late '80s--before LPs started nearing extinction and well before MP3s first hit the scene--the GPX HMTU3234 keeps nostalgic music fans entertained for days on end. The 30-watt system, which includes a pair of full-range speakers with metal grilles, plays everything from modern CDs and CD-Rs in its three-disc front-loading CD player to old-school LPs on its classic two-speed belt-drive turntable. Listeners can also play their favorite cassettes from yesteryear, provided they haven't burned the tapes in an '80s-purging moment, or use the dual cassette deck to record songs from other sources. The CD player's most notable features include 20-track programming, CD intro, repeat and random play, and song skip/search, all of which make it easy to find specific tracks and play them in non-sequential order. In the meantime, all music fans will dig the solid sound quality, which fills up a room with crisp, rich audio. Additional features include a headphone jack for private listening and a full-function remote control. For reference, each speaker measures 7.1 by 13 by 8.7 inches (W x H x D).Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not bother
For the price I thought that it would not be perfect. That it would have some flaws. When I received it the first time it would not turn on. The tape deck worked but nothing else. When I returned and received the replacement, it did not work either. Same problmes as the first. The price is tempting but even if I or you got a good one, how long would last before it began to breakdown?

5-0 out of 5 stars All in 1 Place!
It's great having all the different sound sources in one place. The sound of the CD, radio, and tape are very good -- the turn-table sound leaves something to be desired since there is no controlling of the tone quality.Otherwise, I am very pleased with this unit.

3-0 out of 5 stars may be too cheap
I bought mine to digitize my LP collection, so I did not need something that would last a long time. It does the job but a few disappointments:
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Comes with a good cartridge and needle, comes with a plastic top, with weight changing and anti skating.Other people seem to have problems with the shipping, but i had no problems. The plastic was not warped. It is 62% off, this is probably as good as the expensive ones.Make sure you get a preamp for this, it does not have one buit in.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good enough for the price
I bought this turntable a few months ago and I'm satisfied by its performance. It has good sound and it's a good deal for its price.

Crosley Radio founder Powel Crosley was the first U.S. manufacturer to build a production model sports car several decades back, and now the company pays tribute to its founder's grand ambitions with the CR711 Autorama turntable. Housed in a streamlined black chassis that looks like the front grill of a classic '50s roadster, the turntable is designed for vintage car fans, retro freaks, and anyone else who wants an alternative to the soulless, high-tech look. The Autorama is no slouch from a playback perspective, either, with a belt-drive motor that plays 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm records, giving you access to both full-length LPs and classic singles collections. The device even comes with an analog AM/FM radio that picks up your favorite music and news stations, complemented by a striking illuminated center dial. And thanks to the external FM antenna, you'll receive consistently good reception everywhere in the house.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Turntable
Occasionally a piece of equipment comes along that is so well designed, well built and far ahead of the pack that it defines the state of the art and any major improvements are not only unnecessary but impossible. 30 some odd years ago Technics released the first SL1200 direct drive turntables and defined what phono turntables should be; affordable, reliable, excellent. In the 30 years since then there have only been minor revisions to the SL1200.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent setup
For $330, this setup isn't all that great of a deal.I will say that this is an excellent set up for beginners and "dj's" that just spin records at parties, but a serious performance or production dj will be frustrated with needle skipping while scratching, blending, mixing, etc.Its not awful, but shell out $200 more bucks and have a better setup. Also for $180 you can get Ions complete dj kit, sure they are belt drive turntables, but you save over $100 and get a mic.All in all the set up is not bad, the mixer is actually of high quality, but when numark doesn't offer replacement parts off of their website(yes, you will need to replace these groove tool needles) and if your pressed for cash, you can get near the same quality for far cheaper. But if you are just starting out and want a good set up for under $500, this is a sure bet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good price, good beginner package
The best package for beginners. You don't have to spend a lot of money to start scratching and djing around. This battlepack has a good pair of decks TT1625 (Direct Drive not Belt Drive.. wow), one DM950 mixer, HF125 Headphones (Not the best..but good enough for beginners), a pair of slipmats and the best...needles to start playing immediately. Good, so good for the price. Good for beginners.

Editorial Review

The world's first direct-drive digital turntable, the Technics SL-DZ1200 gives you the feeling of spinning vinyl on a classic Technics turntable while working with digital formats like CD, MP3, and AAC. Just like the Technics direct-drive turntables you've used and loved before, the 10-inch platter simulates the feeling and sound of scratching and spinning albums, but gives you the freedom and versatility of working with digital files on both CD or SD memory cards. A Vinyl Sim feature can take digital audio and give it the distinctly analog sound that comes from a turntable so what you're playing even sounds like an album. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What can I say.
When I first bought the Technics SL-DZ1200, I bought it more for the looks then anything. Actually I would rarely get on it for the first few months, maybe once every 2-3 weeks. When I actually started to learn its features, and mix it with my crossfader mixer's FX, then I think I fell in love. Mind you, if you want really mind blowing FX, you'll probably have to connect it to some other unit, but apart from that, The scratching is pretty good, some times, when I practice, the scratch actually sounds like a Vinyl (Not Always), but the more I practice with it, the more closer it sounds to it. Like the first review said, it does take some time for the CD to load, but hey, isnt everything in life like that? Buy some other CD Turntable, and it will probably beat Technics in some areas, but then Technics will do the same in the other areas. You win and lose, regardless.
2-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE - 30 second cd load time.
If you plan on using your unit for real gigs, BEWARE. It takes at least 30 seconds from the moment the deck accepts your cd to the moment you can actually start cueing it up. NOT GOOD.
4-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Technics SL-DZ1200 Direct-Drive Digital Turntable
Finally, Technics has out done themselves. For those who have been acustomed to turntables and have been hesitant to journey into the world of CD turntables, your time has arrived. This unit is loaded with features that are user friendly. My only knock is the price, but if you can afford it GET IT! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Quality Control
My PSLX350H turntable exhibited the same type of erratic speed that previous reviewers have noted. It ran well for about five minutes, but after that period, it was simply impossible to set a constant speed using the "strobodots" no matter how hard or often I tried. It seems pretty obvious that there must be some consistent defect in the motor or the control hardware, at least in examples coming to market in the past couple of months. At the very least, Sony's quality control is extremely disappointing for this model. I've arranged to send my unit back for a refund. The experience makes me yearn for a turntable like my father's old Thorens TD-265, which is still running flawlessly after some 28 years...

3-0 out of 5 stars Operating difficulties....
I do believe that this turntable is of exceptional quality. The problem? Many complications to recieve a consistant audioplayback of an LP. When I had the inital adjustments correct, when playing an album, it continually needed adjustments. I found that to be aggravating, so I returned it due to frustration.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Sound when works
I found exactly the same situation that the previous reviewer. For two weeks this turntable performed flawlessly, But this passed week I noticed significant variations in speed. I contacted Sony and they notified me that I am eligible for a refurbished replacement, although they currently have none available. They indicated they would contact me with other options once I ship the unit back to them. I am hoping they will refund my money and I'll look elsewhere for a more reliable turntable. I though I got a lemon until I read the previous review. ... Read more
