Editorial Review

This black Sony turntable has all its controls on the top of the turntable for convenient viewing and adjusting, which also includes a pitch control option ranging from +10 to -10. The adjustable insulator feet allow the turntable to sit evenly. Accessories include an audio connecting cord, a 7-inch single adapter, a cartridge and headshield, a rubber mat, a platter (with drive belt), and a dust cover with hinges to protect the turntable. Note that speakers are not included. The platter is made of aluminum die cast and has a DC motor and belt-drive system. The tone arm is a static-balanced, S-shaped arm with detachable headshield and finger lift. Speeds: 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Quality Control
My PSLX350H turntable exhibited the same type of erratic speed that previous reviewers have noted. It ran well for about five minutes, but after that period, it was simply impossible to set a constant speed using the "strobodots" no matter how hard or often I tried. It seems pretty obvious that there must be some consistent defect in the motor or the control hardware, at least in examples coming to market in the past couple of months. At the very least, Sony's quality control is extremely disappointing for this model. I've arranged to send my unit back for a refund. The experience makes me yearn for a turntable like my father's old Thorens TD-265, which is still running flawlessly after some 28 years...

3-0 out of 5 stars Operating difficulties....
I do believe that this turntable is of exceptional quality. The problem? Many complications to recieve a consistant audioplayback of an LP. When I had the inital adjustments correct, when playing an album, it continually needed adjustments. I found that to be aggravating, so I returned it due to frustration.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Sound when works
I found exactly the same situation that the previous reviewer. For two weeks this turntable performed flawlessly, But this passed week I noticed significant variations in speed. I contacted Sony and they notified me that I am eligible for a refurbished replacement, although they currently have none available. They indicated they would contact me with other options once I ship the unit back to them. I am hoping they will refund my money and I'll look elsewhere for a more reliable turntable. I though I got a lemon until I read the previous review. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Turntable
Occasionally a piece of equipment comes along that is so well designed, well built and far ahead of the pack that it defines the state of the art and any major improvements are not only unnecessary but impossible. 30 some odd years ago Technics released the first SL1200 direct drive turntables and defined what phono turntables should be; affordable, reliable, excellent. In the 30 years since then there have only been minor revisions to the SL1200.

Editorial Review

Crosley Radio's Traveler Stack-o-Matic record changer offers a fresh spin on an old-time favorite. Reminiscent of stackable '60s-era portable turntables, the Stack-o-Matic stores up to six full-size LPs or 45s at once and automatically plays them in sequence. When one record finishes, the turntable's fully automatic changer reaches across the stack and gracefully drops the next album on the platter. The mechanism recalls the days of sock hops and sleepovers, when stackable record changers served as cool currency for all-night rock 'n' roll sessions. Even better, the turntable is not only a gas to watch, but is completely portable thanks to the integrated housing that folds up like a suitcase.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Get Your Old Vinyl Out And Enjoy
As the owner of a Zenith Cobramatic HF11 that stacks up to 16 45's and LP's, the Stack o Matic is a wonderful and new look on a old perspective of listening to music, the way records used to be listened to.They are attractive players, with good sound, and with the automatic record changer, makes listening to your old recordings a pleasure. The sound quality of the Stack o Matic is very similar to the Decca Record Players of the late 50's and early 60's, with just volume and tone. The sound on the Traveler, to me, is better than the Varsity and Collegiate models, seems to have a tad of bass at times once you're used to it.There are two speakers together on the side of the player, and do have true stereo separation (play the stereo version of "Reflections" by The Supremes and sit close, the intro has a great seperation of sound sequence) but at a short distance, the sound appears to blend and is more like mono, kinda cool cause mono sound was the only way to hear them at that time.Using the enclosed red record adapters are a chore, and there are 45 spindle adapters, capable of holding 6 to 7 45'savailable, (not through Crosley) it is too bad that Crosley didn't include it with the record player, like the other record manufacturers did in the 50's and 60's.A drawback is that when the changer shuts itself off, it does not turn off the amplifier and you have to turn it off with the volume switch manually. The changer works fine and is effortless, needle replacement is easy.Maybe one day Crosley in the future would offer seperate bass/treble adjustments to enrich the sound further, like the Zenith Cobramatic of the 60's.Crosley should have also provided carrying handles on their Varsity Models, which many suitcase record players had.All and all, the Stack O Matic is a very good record player. The Traveler is attractive, and with the carrying handle, is great to take to parties and gatherings. You will get a lot of compliments on it.When the record changer cycles it's last record, it locks the tone arm onto the holder, good for traveling. Also a good tip is to screw the changer back into storage position (screws up) when transporting to avoid vibration on the springs, you can do it by hand, and just unscrew back when ready to play.

4-0 out of 5 stars A lo-fi wonder!
I bought a Stack-O-Matic so I could listen to a stack of old LPs in my study while I worked or read. It's fine for that sort of casual listening, and it's great to listen to LPs without having to get up every fifteen or twenty minutes to turn them over.
3-0 out of 5 stars COULDA BEEN A CONTENDER!
Wow, how many people have been waiting for new technology to play our old vinyl? This player is nice in concept, however, too many corners have been cut expense-wise to make this an outstanding piece of equipment (for which you are paying quite an UNBELIEVABLE price!) The sound is not what you would expect. No doubt they built scratch filtering in the amplifier so you have virtually no treble.Turning the tone control towards bass just makes the treble even less, it does not add a booming basS.The turntable is sturdy enough and hasdone quite well in the 3 months that I have owned it, however the 45 inserts look nice but are annoying to use, I found a nice spindle called the OMNIDAPTOR and it has been my great find, allowing me to stack about 6-7 45's.The vinyl covering is sticky adhesive so you will have the edges peeling in no time. The construction is sturdy though, and the handles and clasps are screwed into place giving a nice custom touch. They really could have done so much more with this thing, like external speaker jacks, a way to stop the scratch filter, 2 separate speakers (you just have to take their word that this is stereo with 2 speakers inside).I have kept mine just because there is no competition, so no alternative on the market. It's not that bad once you get used to it, and its great playing the old vinyl again. Its a popular player, I've discovered, because the local store at the mall that sold them were out of stock within 2 months.Luckily it was a birthday present otherwise I would have felt cheated by the amount of $$$ I could have spent on this thing!!!! ... Editorial Review

Nostalgic music fans that look back fondly on the radio and TV consoles of the '30s, '40s, and '50s will delight in the Teac GF-290 stereo system, which combines modern components with a retro design. The system is housed in a classic wooden cabinet with a pair of old-fashioned (in appearance, anyway) speakers built into the front housing. Inside the old-school box, however, sit all the modern music complements, along with a couple that hark back a few decades. The device is centered around a front-loading CD player for enjoying modern digital formats (including self-recorded CD-R and CD-RW discs), along with a three-speed, belt-drive turntable that lets you listen to your original Stones recordings on vinyl. Users can also revisit the era when pop singles and R&B cuts ruled the airwaves by speeding the turntable to 45 or 78 rpm. Read more

The world's first direct-drive digital turntable, the Technics SL-DZ1200 gives you the feeling of spinning vinyl on a classic Technics turntable while working with digital formats like CD, MP3, and AAC. Just like the Technics direct-drive turntables you've used and loved before, the 10-inch platter simulates the feeling and sound of scratching and spinning albums, but gives you the freedom and versatility of working with digital files on both CD or SD memory cards. A Vinyl Sim feature can take digital audio and give it the distinctly analog sound that comes from a turntable so what you're playing even sounds like an album. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What can I say.
When I first bought the Technics SL-DZ1200, I bought it more for the looks then anything. Actually I would rarely get on it for the first few months, maybe once every 2-3 weeks. When I actually started to learn its features, and mix it with my crossfader mixer's FX, then I think I fell in love. Mind you, if you want really mind blowing FX, you'll probably have to connect it to some other unit, but apart from that, The scratching is pretty good, some times, when I practice, the scratch actually sounds like a Vinyl (Not Always), but the more I practice with it, the more closer it sounds to it. Like the first review said, it does take some time for the CD to load, but hey, isnt everything in life like that? Buy some other CD Turntable, and it will probably beat Technics in some areas, but then Technics will do the same in the other areas. You win and lose, regardless.
2-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE - 30 second cd load time.
If you plan on using your unit for real gigs, BEWARE. It takes at least 30 seconds from the moment the deck accepts your cd to the moment you can actually start cueing it up. NOT GOOD.
4-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Technics SL-DZ1200 Direct-Drive Digital Turntable
Finally, Technics has out done themselves. For those who have been acustomed to turntables and have been hesitant to journey into the world of CD turntables, your time has arrived. This unit is loaded with features that are user friendly. My only knock is the price, but if you can afford it GET IT! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent setup
For $330, this setup isn't all that great of a deal.I will say that this is an excellent set up for beginners and "dj's" that just spin records at parties, but a serious performance or production dj will be frustrated with needle skipping while scratching, blending, mixing, etc.Its not awful, but shell out $200 more bucks and have a better setup. Also for $180 you can get Ions complete dj kit, sure they are belt drive turntables, but you save over $100 and get a mic.All in all the set up is not bad, the mixer is actually of high quality, but when numark doesn't offer replacement parts off of their website(yes, you will need to replace these groove tool needles) and if your pressed for cash, you can get near the same quality for far cheaper. But if you are just starting out and want a good set up for under $500, this is a sure bet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good price, good beginner package
The best package for beginners. You don't have to spend a lot of money to start scratching and djing around. This battlepack has a good pair of decks TT1625 (Direct Drive not Belt Drive.. wow), one DM950 mixer, HF125 Headphones (Not the best..but good enough for beginners), a pair of slipmats and the best...needles to start playing immediately. Good, so good for the price. Good for beginners.

5-0 out of 5 stars The De Facto Turntable
I am a DJ/Beatmaker from Brooklyn N.Y. and have grown up with hip-hop. The 1200's are the de facto standard for DJ's and studio work. There is a reason why they are found in every club and studio on the planet! They have solid build, very stable and realiable....will last a lifetime! I had an older pair that went "missing" during a move and so I had to replace them with these. I brought two and highly recommend them to all turntablist and beatmakers...........keeping it hot in East New York......Supreme.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great record player with that "stack-o-matic" feature although just a little weak on the sound output....
This record player is really a very good buy considering what you get. Sure, the sound from the single speaker is only about a "B+," but if you really want that retro feel and look in every way, including the stackable records feature so reminiscent of the '60s, then this is one of your best choices.

Relive the era of sock hops and soda jerks with this classic Teac '50-style stereo system. The SL-A100T combines a mid-20th-century aesthetic (witness the jukebox-like front panel and three-speed turntable) with modern sound quality, letting you enjoy your favorite LPs time and again. The system also includes an analog AM/FM tuner with a rotary dial and a pair of integrated stereo speakers with chrome highlights. It's the belt-driven turntable that really impresses, however, as it not only looks cool, but plays back 33-1/3 rpm albums, 45 rpm singles, and classic jazz-age 78s--a speed for every taste. Other than the Gold Ltd. Edition Technics turntable, this is the one to make any dj the envy of the block. Expanded pitch adjustable features, braking adjustment settings, and long lasting led illuminator lights and increased anti-skating make this absolutely a spectacular analog machine/ dj instrument. Quality build is superb and built to outlast anything out there in the competitive market... The ONLY minor mistake not used in really completing the whole package is a lack of a key adjust control. Basically, with a key adjust you can speed up or slow down the beats or the music without vocalists sounding like chipmunks, or Barry White speaking in slow motion ! Key adjust just changes the speed of the music and vocals, not the pitch or tune...This is just a small bonus feature that would have been nice to have; Denon and another company name have already done this for their brand of DJ turntables... ... Not all modern electronics sport a high-tech housing. Witness Crosley's CR79CD four-in-one Entertainer, which teams a solid-state AM/FM radio, programmable CD player, three-speed turntable, and logic cassette deck in a nostalgic '40-style cabinet. The Entertainer's distinctive look includes a hand-rubbed, paprika-finished wood veneer chassis and wraparound grill corners made of woven cloth, along with a gold-plated front control panel. The attention to detail lends an air of authenticity to the device, making it a great fit for listeners with traditionally furnished homes. By contrast, the interior electronics are fully modern. The CD player features a 20-track programmable memory and a repeat play (one and all tracks) function, letting you create custom soundtracks for parties or casual listening. The belt-drive turntable, meanwhile, supports 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm speeds, giving you access to full-length LPs and classic singles collections.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A very unsatisfactory sound system.
I bought the CR79 because I wanted something that would look nice in my paneled livingroom. I chose this model specifically because of the external speaker outputs. I thought that if I did not like the sound quality of the built in speakers, I could hook up my own.

The Technics SL-1200MK5 turntable's sturdy build, high-quality parts, and great features--including many new to the MK5 model--make it more perfect for DJs than ever before. In 1970, Panasonic introduced the world's first direct-drive turntable, the SL-1200, which was superseded by the now-legendary SL-1200MK2--the "wheel of steel" as it's affectionately called. The MK5, boasting an upgraded motor and cool features like increased anti-skate ability and a long-life que lamp, still offers one of the only motors capable of withstanding the high-torque starts and record-gripping stops you need for your "scratch."Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Technics Lives On and On....
Basically a carryover of theSL 1200 M3D table (1999-2002) with a few friendly DJ minor adjustments (brighter, long life L.E.D. stylus pop up light, more antiskating for non-skipping during scratching and adjustable braking speed)...Is this Technics 'table worth it's weight in gold (I think between 30 to 35 pounds)? Without a doubt !It's built like a Sherman Tank to withstand vibrations from speakers or the dance floor which would otherwise cause the needle to skip around or transfer unwanted noise to the tonearm and out the speakers; an enclosed loop of unwanted noise. Heavy, heavy, construction of the anti-resonant plinth/chasis,platter speaks in volumes about the craftsmanship Technics puts into the "Wheel of Steel". Other than the build quality, what's the sound quality like?It can yield either professional (DJ use), near-audiophile (for that sound purist who wants to just listen to records or transfer to cd-r format) or club-quality scratching top grade sound (the direct drive motor and torque is built Chevy or Ford tough for the use and abuse).Read more

Editorial Review

Relive the era of sock hops and soda jerks with this classic Teac '50-style stereo system. The SL-A200B combines a mid-20th-century aesthetic (witness the jukebox-like front panel and three-speed semiautomatic turntable) with a modern touch (a front-loading CD player), letting listeners tap into both their classic LP collections and contemporary CD catalogues. It also includes a cover that protects the vinyl during playback.Read more

Editorial Review

Crosley Radio's Collegiate Stack-o-Matic record changer offers a fresh spin on an old-time favorite. Reminiscent of stackable '60s-era turntables, the Collegiate Stack-o-Matic stores up to six full-size LPs or 45s at once and automatically plays them in sequence. When one record finishes, the turntable's fully automatic changer reaches across the stack and gracefully drops the next album on the platter. The mechanism recalls the days of sock hops and sleepovers, when stackable record changers served as cool currency for all-night rock 'n' roll sessions. The classic design is faithfully re-created all the way down to the supple oak grain finish, black accents, and mesh chrome grillwork.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Had over a year now, no problems

1-0 out of 5 stars where is the sound?
I got this turntable when I bought a new JVC stereo minisystem. The only sound I have been able to get out of it is so miniscule that I can only assume it is defective. Various calls to their help line where unilluminating. Unfortunately I had thrown out the box before actually trying to see if it works...
1-0 out of 5 stars Spend the extra money for a more reliable turntable
I purchased this turntable brand new. It worked great for a few days. I only played 3 or 4 records a day. I thought it was very convenient the way the turntable could be hooked up to my mini stereo system. Several days later, for no apparent reason, it started to play records at multiple speeds from fast to slow and back while in the 33RPM setting. I checked all the components and referred back to the manual settings. Couldn't find the problem. Within 2 weeks, the start and stop functions became faulty and the turntable would simply stop spinning, mid-song without warning. My advice is to spend the extra money for a better product. This one was a waste of time. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Not all modern electronics sport a high-tech housing. Witness Crosley's CR79CD four-in-one Entertainer, which teams a solid-state AM/FM radio, programmable CD player, three-speed turntable, and logic cassette deck in a nostalgic '40-style cabinet. The Entertainer's distinctive look includes a hand-rubbed, oak-finished wood veneer chassis and wraparound grill corners made of woven cloth, along with a gold-plated front control panel.

5-0 out of 5 stars The industry standard.
When a turntable remains the industry standard for more than 20 years, you should know there is good reason for it. A solid, reliable platform for any DJ's creativity. You don't need any of the fancy gizmos on the digital decks, all you need are these, some good tunes and a bit of imagination.
5-0 out of 5 stars I LIKE IT!
After years of contemplation I bought 2 Technics SL-1200MK2's. What a great descision! The first thing I noticed is how much better vinyl sounds than CD's. It takes long term exposure to digital audio to realize it, but the truth is that 44.1 16-bit or MP3's are both inferior to analog sound. This is especially true with my old records that were recorded, mixed, and mastered without digital compression technology.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointment
I got this product as a gift and had to return it 2 times before I got one that worked. It does not have anti-skate or counter weights and the button operated "start/stop" playback is annoying and usually doesn't work. The stylus is alright.
3-0 out of 5 stars Denon Turntable Missing Up And Down Arm Release Button
I was so excited to get this turntable, because it was Denon. The turntable sounds great, but I liked the Aiwa turntable and Sony turntable better. This Denon turntable does not have the "Up and Down Arm Release Button". Without the "Up And Down Arm Release Button", it makes it more difficult for you to be able to cue up a certain track, that is on the record album. So you pretty much have to cue the record up with touching the arm with your hands, which gives you a chance to scratch and ruin your record collection. Now if you are going to play the first track, on the record, then you can just press Start, and the turntable will cue up the record, and start playing the whole thing, until you press "Stop" on it, or by lifting the arm up with your hands. But since there is no "Up and Down Arm Release Button", on this Denon turntable, it is really not a full- automatic turntable. Pressing the "Start" and "Stop" buttons, can wear out the turntable. The Aiwa turntable and Sony turntable, had the "Up and Down Arm Release Button", so that you could cue up the record at any track, or to stop the music at any track on the record, without having to wear out the turntable, by pressing the "Stop" button, or "Start" button. The "Up and Down Arm Release Button", keeps you from scratching up the vinyl and ruining it, so that the needle can lay on the record more gently. This De
