4-0 out of 5 stars Great laptop Accessory
A compact and light portable speaker for skype.Easy to install and get going.I use the skype feature with a desktop and my laptop. The sound quality was good enough that I unplugged my desktop speakers, and use skype as a home office voicemail.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great sound quality
My coworkers and I have tried every microphone option out there. We've tried desktop mics paired with headphones, multiple headsets, cameras with built in mics, etc. This is by far the most convenient and best sounding of all the solutions we've tried. The Skype integration in Windows is great.I did try it on the Mac, and it seemed to function well as a USB mic and output device. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work as well as it does in Windows, and the integration with Skype isn't there.

1-0 out of 5 stars Vonage is a sinking ship
I had Vonage since April, 2006. I finally switched back to Qwest after unending problems and hours and hours on the phone (my cell phone, as my Vonage line didn't work) with tech support. Here is my experience:
1-0 out of 5 stars Vonage is a SCAM
We started using Vonage in Feb. 2006 and we could never get it to work, their tech support would always tell us to unplug the box and we neede a faster internet connection, finally after 4 months of fighting it we went back to our local provider...then every month we were still getting charged for our Vonage service.Vonage would tell us that they never received the cancellation calls and that we were still using the service(which was disconnected from our computer) They lie through their teeth and we still haven't resolved the issue.Do a search on Vonage complaints and you'll see we aren't the only ones.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE product, just plain horrible. PLEASE don't buy this!!!
It takes 6 weeks to transfer your old # to connect this same # to the vonage line. (yes, you need to wait 6 weeks to be able to use your old #. in the meantime, you get a temporary #, which doesn't make sense giving out to people coz it's gonna change again in 6 weeks - but if you don't give it to them, how are they going to be able to call you? ... but why would you give them a temporary # in the first place??? grrrr ...) Then there's customer service people that speak with a heavy accent that i couldn't understand, which makes everything about vonage incomprehensible. (This should have been a flag for me, but I believe I'm an educated consumer, and what they couldn't give me over the phone, I did my own research.) And if it's not on the net, they give you incorrect information (be sure to call at least 6 times if you want to cancel your account; otherwise they will keep charging you). Follow through with everything they say because what is on their records could be inaccurate, like what happened to me. Do not contact them through their email system. It's a miracle if you DON'T get an automated response. And even when you do, be sure to call them still, and make sure that what they emailed to you is the same as what is staring at the rep's face. Also, equipment is very UNuser friendly. don't use it if you want to keep it simple, and that you just want to press a button to check your messages. You have to go through more than 3 people to ask your questions from setup to billing. Unfair and unlawful, that's what they will do to you. If I could rate this 0, that's what it would get. It doesn't even deserve one star. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great! - if u know what u want!
I love this phone because it offers caller ID, selectable ringtones and a whole bunch of stuff - unbeatable for the price (30 bucks). But on the other hand, I got this phone expecting it to do nothing more for me. This is a great add-on to Skype and is very very handy.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fit for purpose
Some of the reviews of this prodcut are quite bizarre - as one reviewer pointed out, the phone itself isn't responsible for any delays due to buffering (though I have to say that in the last few months, Skype has improved in quality in this respect tremendously).

4-0 out of 5 stars Good device...works as advertised
Its hard to spend nearly $50 on a phone that does not have a wireless handset. However, this phone does not feel cheap and it works as it should. I've been using it with Skype for over a week. Skype was unusable with my generic microphone and surround speakers. Now it works as a normal phone except dialing +1 before every call.
1-0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT Integrate well with skype, messes your PC Audio Controls
Though cheap, this phone does not integrate well with skype, some of the buttons on the phone like the 'in', 'out', and 'del' do not have any or the wrong effect on skype software. Also the drivers messed up my laptop's audio quickset controls, which did not happen with my cyberphone W which I got from the skype website

4-0 out of 5 stars Skype Speakerphone for International Commerce
This week I've conducted two long legal consultations with clients in Eastern Europe from our Chicago office using this product. We needed a speakerphone because there were two lawyers at our end. The audio quality was at least as good as normal landline telephones and it functioned overall a bit better than our usual speakerphone that is connected to the phone lines, with less clipping from extraneous background noise in comparison with our usual speakerphone. The volume in the speaker was adequate, if not quite as loud as I would like. Our clients had no problems understanding us and we had difficulty only when they spoke softly. We used a camera installed in the laptop to which we attached this speakerphone and found the video to be helpful with these new clients whom we had never met in person. The confidentiality of our communication was assured because SKYPE employs 256-bit encryption that cannot practically be broken. Because this was all computer-to-computer, there was no cost associated with these hour-long calls beyond our normal monthly payment to the DSL provider. I am more or less amazed at the practical utility of SKYPE and with this very economical, very serviceable unit which uses it. It required no configuration and worked right out of the box with the quick installation of a small program for its use. No hassle. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Microphone is bad
I got 4 units for company use. Speaker is excellent. But one unit is deadly bad, very low mic gain. I returned it. Other three units are less satisfied. It's relatively low gain at mic. You can hear my voice, but like a fainted. I expected a loudness like an embedded microphone in Logitech Web Camera... It performs too far to it's glorious SoundStation. I'm considering to return all units...

1-0 out of 5 stars Polycom dropped the ball
I had been following this device for several months before it's release; Polycom has always developed superior conferencing products in the past so I expected this device to outperform other USB Speakerphones.I was wrong. We received the Communicator and started testing it with multiple applications such as Skype and MSN Messenger. The Speaker sounded excellent but the microphone on the device was near useless. The person on the other side of the conversation could barely hear anything.I adjusted every control I could find and it made no difference.I will be returning this device as it is an overpriced paperweight.

5-0 out of 5 stars The "Jetson" future is here!A fantastic product.
First, the bad news:the Ojo is fantastic. That's right...and it gets better from there.I'm extremely pleased with the Ojo and would never want to be without one again. In comparison, regular landline phones and webcams come up far short. Both the picture and audio quality are excellent and with no audio delay. The video messaging was automatically downloaded (free) after I bought the units. It's a great feature. The display is at a good height for viewing (no looking up peoples' noses).I was surprised that the display appears larger than it is (7" diagonally). The handset is cordless and detachable.I seldom use the handset away from the unit, but don't want to be tethered to a phone, so didn't even consider other videophones.Material and construction appear to be first-class.
5-0 out of 5 stars Italy and America closer NOW
We got our OJO from our son who lives in US..It's a wonderful product I enjoy talking and seeing my grandson while his father is in office and he stays alone ? home with the nanny...I hope talking to me will alow him to learn Italian easily
2-0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, get MSN Messenger which is free
The Ojo fails exactly where the previous video phones have failed: it's way too expensive, even before the "generous" mail-in rebate which will take months to receive if ever. For $50 or so you can get two webcams with video and audio quality just as good as (if not better than) the Ojo and then just get MSN Messenger which is free and has the best video phone quality and features, even over slow Internet connections. ... TRENDNET TVP-SP1BK ClearSky Bluetooth VoIP Phone Kit (for Skype)
4-0 out of 5 stars Nice piece of equipment, despite its quirks.
Overall, this phone works very well. The voice quality is clear, the range is fantastic for a bluetooth device, it syncs pretty well with Skype, and it's relatively easy to use.The only complaints that I have for the phone are as follows:
5-0 out of 5 stars Good phone for Skype
I agree with the other review that setup is a little confusing. But the phone works great with Skype once it's setup properly. The range is incredible!I have a three story house and my computer is all the way upstairs jammed in the far corner of the house. The signal is excellent all the way down to the bottom level of my home, and to the other end.I may save some a little confusion by letting you know that the phone takes over as your pc speaker while the phone is in use.So if you end a call, and then sign onto AOL or start playing a song, the audio plays in the phone, and not on the PC speakers.I finally figured out that the phone goes into "sleep" mode 3 minutes after you stop using it, and the audio is restored to the PC speakers. For those who want to fidget with the audio settings, there are settings in both Windows XP as well as the Skype settings.I just left my settings "as is".Seems to get the job done!I also might mention that I have Linksys Wireless SRX Router downstairs in my office. When I'm very close to the router, it does cause a little static/hiss with the phone reception. But otherwise, the phone reception is CRYSTAL CLEAR!I give it two thumbs up !! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Poor framerate, tricky setup
I really wanted to like this gadget, but I've ultimately been disappointed. The idea is COOL, being able to see your family and carry on a FREE Internet phone conversation with them, and the price is much less than other videophone solutions out there.Alas, there are a few problems still to be worked out with this device.
4-0 out of 5 stars It works.
I've seen some compaints about this unit delivering only 352x288 resolution. But this resolution works with most DSL/Cable connection. You can only utilize 640x320 resolution to its full benefit if you have sending bandwidth of >512kbps, which some broadband providers do not offer. My DSL sending bandwidth is only 128kbps (Verizon), so this bottleneck prevents me from fully utilizing 352x288. I do get 352x288 at about 10-15fps.

I was searching for a headset that was over the head and at a reasonable price. I couldn't find that so I settled for this one. I must say I am not disappointed with my purchase. The sound quality is good and it fits comfortably over my ear.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Really Awful Design
I continue my search for a good hands-free telephone headset...This isn't it! I bought it along with two others (neither of which was good either) and immediately noted the problem with it. The ear piece is WAY WAY WAY too large for anyone with even a medum sized ear. It is the largest in-ear earpiece I've ever seen on a headset. It is either made for men (and it probably wont' fit some of them either) or people with really large ears. The sound quality is acceptable, but it's hard to tell how well it works because I can barely stuff it into my ear. It's hard to tell how people at the other end hear me either.Save your money on this one. ... Read more
