5-0 out of 5 stars I LIKE THIS PHONE SYSTEM
I have three handsets and have programmed different ring sounds for each one,e.g., then one in my home office rings with the Three Stooges singing, "Hello, hello, hello!"
4-0 out of 5 stars Flash button? YES there is one
I'm not sure if the previous reviewer has a different model or not but there is indeed a flash button. Once you are on a callis the left menu button on the LCD screen. Those who are quite familiar with cell phones will spot it quickly.

4-0 out of 5 stars T-Mobile users: BUY THIS if you don't have good signal indoors, but good outdoors
I have bad signal with T-Mobile (and Cingular 1900) in the basement
3-0 out of 5 stars It works all right, but it is no miracle cure!
I had 1-2 bars of coverage on verizon outside my house, and 0 inside previously.I placed the extender in my attic, and now I can, indeed, make and receive calls from inside the house. The coverage is pretty weak (1 bar or less) and calls drop from time to time, but it is much better than no service at all.My advice for those of you like me (with 1-2 bars at best outside your home) is to consider this as a way to get minimal indoor coverage, but don't expect miracles. It doesn't replace a land line!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm!
I have Verizon service and was getting 1 or 2 bars in my home with very poor call clarity and lots of drops. After installing this antenna in my attic I have gone to 4 or 5 bars with no dropped calls.Highly recommended! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Espresso is not black
The add says espresso. The phone box says espresso. The phone is black. Called J&R. All phones that are marked espresso are black. I have not used the phone so I can't evaluate the quality but, for reasons on my own I needed a brown phone. J&R were fair in handling the matter. J&R said that they are changing the ad.

1-0 out of 5 stars FAILED AFTER5 MONTHS-AT&T WON'T HONOR THEIR OWN WARRANTY!!
It seemed like a great product until it forgot how to hang up the phone line, which happened after 5 months of occasional use.The (800) number for warranty service provides a message that "Warranty Service for this Model has been Discontinued" and refers you to the AT&T web site.Using "contact us" on the web site resulted in an email suggesting that I call the (800) number. So much for a one-year warranty, and so much for "GENUINE AT&T QUALITY".Next time I'm buying another brand.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very good choice if you're looking for a handset speakerphone.
I bought this phone because I wanted a good handset speakerphone, so I can talk on the phone while my hands are busy without fumbling with a headset. This phone got great reviews (see the reviewsfor the 3-0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointed
I just bought thisUniden Tru8860 - charged it up the full amount of time required. It is a bit staticky and muffled. When I talked to a friend she could not hear all of my words and thought I was talking with a blanket over the speaker.Could not hear her that well either. The ring choices are a bit annoying and tinny sounding. I have put it back in the box and it is being returned tomorrow. My last Uniden which I had for several years was wonderful! Too bad the quality is not the same.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone for the money!
I have had a V-Tech VT202431 Two-Line Digital Speakerphone, 2.4 GHZ phone system for about 3 years now and no problems with reception or the battery which is surprising. Considering, I have bought similiar phones that were more expensive and they ALL have had the batteries replaced or they have had horrible reception. This one is just simply the best phone I have ever had. I bought this VTech 20-2481 2.4 GHz phone to go with my other phone. I am sold on V-Tech products. I have my parents and my brothers sold on them as well. They do make a great gifts.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weak Signal
This system used to work fine for the last couple of years I've owned it, but for the last 6 months it seems that the interference in the 2.4 ghz band from wireless computer networks has been too much for it. It no longer offers a clear reliable signal past a few feet from the base.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good buy - especially if you get a better battery
I bought this phone as a replacement for a Panasonic model which I have for many years with no problems. This phone has a lot of features for the cost, however, we have tha base in the second floor and the phone is used in the first floor - usually it is somewehe but in its base most of the day.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good phone - hard to set up
Just recently purchased. It took me a very long time to set up this phone - the manual was very confusing. Once set up however, it is easy to use and I have virtually no problems using it.

1-0 out of 5 stars I wished I had my old system back......
My phone freezes, as if your computer screen would freeze. You can't do anything until you unplug the power cord, and remove the 9V battery.Once you replace the battery, and plug the power back in, you are fine, for around 48 hours. Why can't I find I a phone?

1-0 out of 5 stars NON WORKING Uniden DCX640 2.4 GHz Accessory Handset for DCT Phone Systems
I ordered this product for my mother's birthday because I have the base unit as my bedroom phone and she kept using it because the house cordless was slowly going. It really made me aggravated that it was never in my room and that she was always using it. I knew they made extentions, so I finally bought one. When she got it and set it all up, it didn't work! You could hear the person that was calling you or that you were calling but THEY COULDN'T HEAR YOU! I figured that it was the ear piece volume that was either low or broken. It must have been the broken, because I couldn't find the volume for the handset ear piece volume! And believe me, I DID read the intruction manual! WORST MONEY EVER SPENT! I'm not saying the product is bad...it very well could've been the place that was selling it through Amazon that sucks. ... Read more

The phone performs great.Solid construction, easy to use, cool looking. Can not beat the price.I was reluctant to buy it,reading one bad review, but took a risk and it paid off. This phone is the best value for your money out there. It has all the features you need, great reception and clearity.
1-0 out of 5 stars Bad voice quality, and ringer stopped working
Only buy this phone if you want both your voice and the person you're talking to sound like robots (not the cool robot voices, the annoying grating ones). You can't turn up the volume too loud to make the voices clearer because the sound gets high pitched and hurts your ears.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT phone!
For anyone having trouble with any Uniden Cordless phones with Bellsouth DSL service, we had the same issue initially. We went to Home Depot and they have a little gadget for $25 that you put on your phone line where it comes in your home, that separates the line into one going to DSL and the other going to the phone line and filters them separately. We went around and around with this issue until we bought this gadget and put it on our phone line.We have not had ONE problem since, and we were getting 20+ disconnects from DSL a day beforehand. The phones are GREAT.The problem is the Bellsouth DSL filters they supply and the way they are used, is not very effective.Save any frustrations, keep the phone, and just go buy the $25 gadget for the phone line!

5-0 out of 5 stars One great phone!
This phone far surpasses any digital phone I've ever owned. The audio quality is exceptional, quiet and clear. The "do not disturb" feature is useful for disabling the ringer, and the answering machine is simple to use. It has lots of features, and is a great value for the money!

4-0 out of 5 stars I want another one
It's almost impossible to bring a cordless phone home and it's almost perfect. This is that phone... cute, easy to hold, good sound, loud enough, speaker phone good, not too bulky, not too small, you can add additional phones to it.So when I'm too lazy to go upstairs to ask my mom a question, I just hit the button and call her to the other handset. You can also use it in "monitor" mode.Easy to read display, easy to program and program different rings for different people in your address book.

3-0 out of 5 stars A great idea, if not well-made
We purchased this phone for my great aunt a year and a half ago.It includes a one-year factory warranty.Unfortunately, now that it is 1.5 years old, it is no longer functional. While I am not impressed with a telephone with such a short lifespan, my great aunt is insistent that we buy her a new one because she dearly loved it.During that year and a half, it worked splendidly for her.She has troubles with her sight and hearing along with motor controls, and the phone aided her in all of those areas.I wish that the product were more durable and long-lasting, but it does do exactly what it asserts to do for the period of time in which it is warranted to do it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked for about a week, then broke
I ordered this for my parents. It looked like the perfect answer for them, big buttons, adjustable volume.I received it and tried it out at my house where it worked perfectly.I preprogrammed the keys, made a fancy photo template and inserted it, then packaged it up and mailed it off to my folks.I had a trip planned to visit them two weeks later, so they left it sitting there waiting for me to arrive and install it.Two weeks later, when I arrived, I hooked it up and it worked for a little while, then it stopped working.I fiddled with the wires and it hissed and crackled, worked a bit, then quit, worked and quit. After some more fiddling I figured out that the switch-hook on the phone was not working correctly.I would lift the handset, then touch the switch-hook and it would stop working, then touch the switch-hook again and it would start working.Something was definitely wrong with the switch-hook inside the phone.I disassembled the unit all the way down to the circuit board.Hey, I'm an engineer, if it needs a little soldering I am up to the job.But I found that the switch-hook component itself was defective. It would sometimes work, but then quit when I barely touched it, or tapped it on the side, then another tap and it would hiss and crackle and sometime start working again.

Editorial Review

A two-handset cordless phone system from Uniden, the DXI5586-2 delivers both signal quality and a useful set of features. Utilizing 5.8 GHz extended range technology, the DXI5586-2 is able to offer clearer reception and greater range than many 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz phones. Plus, the second handset includes its own charging cradle and can be placed anywhere you have a power outlet--no additional phone jack is required.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Utter garbage
I liked the price of this, but I guess you get what you pay for.My friends complained that I sounded as though I were underwater.I returned this product - a real piece of Cr*p.

1-0 out of 5 stars This phone sucks!
I've owned Uniden products in the past and have been generally happy with them, but quality control really dropped the ball on this one. I bought this phone because it was reasonably priced and had the 5.8 GHz technology. I was gravely disappointed. I can't sit 2 feet away from the base without getting mind numbing static! My old rotary dial phone can do better than that! DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!

1-0 out of 5 stars This phone should be illegal to sell
There is NO WAY this phone should get 2 stars... The static makes conversations impossible at any range. You simply cannot move around at all.Complete waste of money, we have had to revert to our $5 corded phone for anyone to understand a word we say.Absolutely USELESS phones. ... Read more
