5-0 out of 5 stars A nice whole house telephone system
I purchased this answering machine with the intention of expanding the quantity of phones to cover the entire house. To start, I bought only one additional phone. I'll buy the rest later. So far I am very pleased. The sound quality is excellent and there are numerous bonus features that I have found very useful. Like the talking caller ID and being able to screen messages from any of the phones. I also like being able to program a phone directory into one phone and transfering (download) a single entry or the entire list to the other phones. And each phone is also a speaker phone and a full intercom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Telephone review.
This is the best telephone I have ever owned. It works great and everyone that sees it wants one just like it.It is easy to set up and use. This is the only kind I will ever own.

1-0 out of 5 stars A WORD TO THE WISE....
Don't be fooled, as I was, into buying this phone set.I have the Vtech ip5825, which is identical to the ip5850 minus the answering system. When you initially receive these phones the features will impress you, and it will work too. Then, after a short period of time (depending on your luck), things begin to run downhill fast.In my case (see my review on the 5825) the phone would not hang up the line after only 3 months of use.I had to contact customer service and only because I'm obsessive did I see the thing through in dealing with Vtech support or lack there of.I'm sure others would have given up early on.They (Vtech) sure don't make it easy to get them to honor their guarantee. After all is said and done, my refurbished Vtech phones are going south again. Now the batteries, as many other Vtech owners have attested to, are failing.
1-0 out of 5 stars Bad battery, bad static = bad phone
Don't waste your money on this phone. From the first day the non-base unit had horrible static for anyone I talked to. The sound was fine on my end, but anyone I talked to on the non-base phone complained of horrible static, and when I called my house I heard it too and they were right it was horrible. The base unit developed the same charging and battery problems a number of others have already talked about. Avoid at all costs. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste
Be wary. Our expandable set of these phones worked fine, generally, for several months. The reception was "tinny", but not so much that we had a real problem with it.However, the echo got worse and worse, until we could no longer hear or be heard. After trying a different phone cord and trying the phone in a neighbor's house to see if we could identify the problem, we determined the phones are simply trash.More electronics in the landfills, alas.Phones should last many, many years, not many, many weeks.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
This is a great phone system.Complete with speaker phone that works very well.Completely programable. In my case I couldn't find this handest in local stores and it is an addon to the original set that I have.I like them so much that I am contemplating adding another!

2-0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
I purchased two of these phones based upon the previous customer reviews. I was looking for a phone with at least above average sound quality. Other customer reviews gave me the impression that this phone would satisfy these requirements. My previous phone sounded signifiantly better and it was about 1/2 the price. Most people would find the sound quality alright, but if you are looking for above average sound quality you will not find it in this phone.I'm quite disappointed. The rest of the phone's features are fine - no complaints except for the primary reason why I purchased this phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone for the money
Great phone. The only thing I don't like is that you have to use 3, AAA batteries in order to activate the speakerphone without picking up the receiver. Without the batteries, I have to lift the receiver, press the SP button, then put the receiver down. Bummer. It would have been great if they'd added a power feature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent basic phone
I found this to be an excellent phone with all the necessary features that I wanted. I was tired of the small, heavy, one-piece phones with marginal sound quality. This has very clear sound and when called at work I can tell the outgoing quality is just as good. I am not a speaker phone person so no comment on that. The memory feature is easy to use and convenient but common to most phones. Pay a little more for this higher quality phone and you'll like it. $20 dollar phones just won't give you this clarity. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars No different than mainstream cheap phones

4-0 out of 5 stars Uniden9485
We've had this phone for about a month & when we first got it, the handset would ring at the same time as the base. But lately I've noticed that the handset doesnt ring/make a sound until about 1 second after the base.Another reviewer said the same thing for the 9485/2 and it's annoying. When this happens the handset is no more than 30ft from the base, so I know it's not a distance thing.Another thing is that the date/time/name "stays on" on the handset - which is a waste. The melodies/tones are "cheesy" like a lot of other reviewers have stated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works beautifully
Got this phone to replace my old wireless Bell phone, and what a difference! Great range, sound quality and battery life; very simple to use and is very intuitive. The buttons light up a soft green for night-time calling, speakerphone for group chat sessions or when you're too lazy to hold the phone up to your ear, and a simple to use answering machine. What more could you want?

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality!
Please do not waste your time with this one.I purchased this phone to use by the pool and was disappointed to find I could not get any reception more than 30ft from the base. What is the point of having a "waterproof" phone if it cannot be used outside? Also, when I was able to receive/make calls, the reception quality was very poor. This phone, although a great idea, is now sitting in the closet collecting dust. I wonder if it's dust proof too?

1-0 out of 5 stars lousy phone
Surprisingly poor quality for a Uniden phone.Volume is very low -- hard to hear caller.Don't waste your money.
2-0 out of 5 stars Can you hear me????
I have placed this phone in many different spots in the house but have found that the reception of the handset is to say the least, terrible. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone System, Range, and Clarity
I bought this phone and three expansion handsets about a year ago and couldn't be happier. The phones have the clarity of a corded phone. The built in intercom system is perfect. The phones allow you to "name" the handsets as we did (Kitchen, Basement, Bedroom, etc) so you can page based on location rather than remembering numbers. They have a reliable and effective speakerphone built in, as well as jacks for headset (though the speakerphone seems to make this unnecessary.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simplest and most reliable cordless phone
This is my third Motorola cordless. As my older phones (other brands) go bad, I've been replacing them with the Motorola. I couldn't be happier with the range, clairity of sound and reliability.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE Battery life

2-0 out of 5 stars Keypad Issue
This phone system is great, except for the fact that the number 1 keys on every single one of our six handsets don't function without a lot of encouragement. Unfortunately, this makes the phone system a struggle to use almost every time we go to make a call. Our business is currently looking for a replacement phone system after only two years with Panasonic.

When I initially came across the D-Link DI-102 (and the Hawking HBB1) I must admit I was skeptical of these "Broadband Internet Accelerators". After a little research, I decided on the DI-102 (based on my previous good experience with D-Link products). Both devices use the same StreamEngine technology from Ubicom.

1-0 out of 5 stars Abolutely useless
I have typical residential cable bandwidth - 5Mbps down and 384kbps up. So, whenever I have massive uploads going on or my son is on bittorrent the VoIP quality degrades terrible (testmyvoip.com calls it "As bad as a crummy cell phone call" and they are right). Which is exactly what this device promises to fix. I assumed that it provides QoS, although I was a little irked that it never gave any technical information. It touts easy installation and promises "intelligent prioritization". It was easy to install all right - but it has intelligence of a straight pass-through wire. There was no difference in performance. Either I upload - or I talk.
