A must buy
Since I bought this coolpad, my Dell and Toshiba have had no more overheating problems and are never hot to the touch anymore. Further neither sounds like a wheezing horse since the fan barely needs to run now! Games and programs that take up a lot of system resources don't hang up or run slowly anymore. You already spent $1000 or more on a laptop; there's no reason NOT to buy the Coolpad to protect your investment.

Yeah I'm Gonna Travel with A Muffin Pan, NOT!
I was reading the "advice" to use a muffin pan for your laptop. Well, I think people have used stuff like that, I've used an empty box for when I put my laptop on a cloth covered surface (like my bed), but I mean c'mon, that gets old after awhile. I'm not going to travel around with muffin pans, not gonna do it, not that CHEAP! LOL.

Doesn't work for me
This stand looks good, but it does not work for me. The minimum height added is 5.5 inches, which is too high for my monitor. I only need about 2-3 inches in height to get my monitor at a more ergonomic level. I went with the much cheaper Fellows standard monitor stand, which is adjustable and has a maximum height of around 4.5 inches.
Surprised what a difference this makes.Much more pleasant working on laptop.
I bought this laptop stand when I found out that my laptop could drive dual screens so I could have different items on the two screens and drag stuff between them.So now I have the center of the screens at the same height, side-by-side.It is really nice to have twice the screen real-estate.
Just What I Needed!
I use my notebook computer the way most people use a desktop computer - constantly and in one location.I already deal with neck and back isues, and the additional strain and pain I was experiencing, especially in my neck, led me to try this product.It is perfect and does exactly what it says it does:it raises my notebook to eye level, and the middle shelf is a great little storage area for pens, etc.The bottom shelf holds my keyboard, although, since it is a deeper curved keyboard, the fit is not as good as it could be; however, it still does the job adequately.This a great value! ... Decent LCD stand...
Decent stand...Definitely LCD only...Molded plastic but sturdy enough to hold an LCD...Same deal with the speaker stands...The shelf for the monitor is ok sized but not huge...I have a 19" Dell Ultrasharp LCD and the LCD base hangs over the front by about half an inch...

Great product!!
Got this to use with my G4 PowerBook. The iLap looks great, is made great, and--most imporantly--WORKS GREAT! Using my laptop on my lap or in bed is no longer uncomfortable. And I don't have second degree burns on my thighs anymore! I've noticed that my computer's fan doesn't come on as much, too. Internal temperatures? They're lower, too. I think the iLap will give me years of usefulness and extend the life of my PowerBook. This is a great design! Get one...you won't be sorry!!

I had Targus's Podium Coolpad for few years, because it can swirl around, plus it has adjustable height for ergonomics. However lately, my wrists get tiresome since there's no wrist pad, and my legs gets pretty uncomfy cuz there isn't a padding underneath. Coolpad obviously only works on table (and I never use my 12 in. powerbook on my table).

14" iLap - great concept, needs refining
I've had this for quite a few months now.In a nutshell, it is an excellent concept, with some design details that could be improved.
I'm very happy with my purchase of the iLap 14 for my Macbook.
I was looking for a product that would allow me to use my 13" Macbook on my lap (the Macbook gets uncomfortably hot after using it alone on my lap for a while).Searching the internet for notebook cooling pads, I found essentially two types of cooling pads- those that require power and cool via small fans... and the iLap.I didn't want to deal with the hassle of plugging my cooling pad into a power source.I liked the iLap for its simple design (less to go wrong) and its elegant looks.After using it for the last couple of monthes, I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who uses a Macbook on their lap.

A Must for iBook and MacBook Users

Does not support 19" or larger CRTs
Do not be fooled when the description says this stand holds up to 21" monitors - that is only true for *flat-panel* monitors, not traditional CRT monitors.Note that the weight rating says 50 pounds!Most standard 19" monitors weigh 60 pounds or more.I purchased this item at a Staples near me, and brought it home to use with my 19" CRT.After placing the monitor on the stand, the stand bobbed up and down and seemed as if it would completely bend at any moment.

ok product
It does not quite do all the functions it advertises. That folded position in the picture it will only do on a table. Odd being that it is for your lap. The gripy parts are nice and do keep the computer from sliding but the overall construction does feel a little weak. An ok buy but i would look around for somthing else.

Fits my 12" powerbook well
This is a great laptop holder.It keeps the lap cool and has enough room for a external mouse (if you have a 12" laptop).You can also fold it in half and adjust it for better viewing angle on a desk or if use it folded when sitting in a narrow airplane seat.It works well with larger laptops too.The rubber grips on the surface hold the laptop well and help to keep it from slipping off.I would have given this a 5, but the rubber feet keep coming off.So far I have not lost them, but will try to glue them in more securely.

I considered more expensive laptop stands, but am very pleased that I chose this one. It sturdily supports even my large 17-inch Powerbook, and the rubbery pads really grip it. Works for me
I bought both the Targus PA235U stand and this one and decided to keep this Fellows stand. The Targus stand looks nice, but it is more expensive, and the minimum height is too high for my setup. From my experience with computers, I would say the three adjustable heights offered by this stand are more appropriate for most people than the two heights offered by the Targus stand.

Good for your aching neck
All reading, including books, newspaper and computer screens, should ideally be done with the head and neck straight, with eyes looking ahead.
