SkyCaddie works very well
I have read several of the reviews written about this product and do not agree that this device is only good to about 5 yards. I play numerous golf courses and find that on a well marked course, this device is right on the money. It will not give you exact yardage to the pin but instead gives you center, front, and back of the green. With a pin sheet or flag colors to tell you approximate location of the pin, you can get a very accurate distance for your shot. The real value is when you need distance and are not in the fairway (without yardage marked by the golf staff). If you cannot see the pin, standard laser range finders are useless. The skycaddie uses gps and does not need line of sight. Like most rangefinders, the real value is for distances outside of 100 yards. Inside of that, most of us have to use some amount of feel anyway. Plus close up, you can see where the pin is anyway.I love this thing. Especially if you play lots of different courses around your area.

SkyCaddie vs Bushnell Laser Range Finder
Hands down the Bushnell laser products are much more accurate, quicker, and dependable.I didn't mind the price of the Sky Golf product or the subscription fee, but the accuracy is sometimes off 5-10 yards which is totally unacceptable.I plan on either selling mine or storing it until they upgrade the software to improve the accuracy.If you are an avid golfer looking for a dependable product which is fun to use, this definately is not it.Save your money and step off your own distance or use something else.Golf is frustrating enough without wasting your money on this.

Poor Quality and "Zero Customer Service"
Does the unit work??,...Well yes to a degree. It takes 6 holes to lock on to the satellites and then does a fair job of giving distances. The display is poor and though they say "up to 40 objects per hole" there is normally 2-4 objects per hole. All this depends upon the Skycaddie course recorder. The user (you) can not modify the course or add any objects that thecourse recorder didn't think was important.

Very Pleased With Quality and Accuracy
While the other review notes disatisfaction with use on a PDA device, I am writing to express my pleasure using the device on my laptop.Since it uses a USB connection and communicates using a serial COM port, I tend to believe the other user may have not had something configured right - COM ports are somewhat confusing and difficult to configure, although that is a "problem" with all GPS serial devices.

Suunto Observer
Having had my Suunto Observer for over a month now, I like the features this wrist computer offers. However they are the same functions the Vector offers with a few differences. I dislike the dark background with lighter characters/digits in an LCD display; it is harder to read compared to the Suunto Vector that has the light background and dark characters. The alarm is quieter than the Vector, but the Observer does have the lower profile. The Observer has a double clip closed loop wristband while the Vector has a standard buckle wrist strap closure.
Great Watch!
I have had this watch for 6 months now and during the height of the climbing season I can say I love it. It does everything it it claims plus looks great. I had a Avocet wrist altimeter for 10 years before this and the Suunto is much better and more accurate. Yes it does take some study and getting used to but if you make the effort it will reward you. So why do I like it?
Great Looks and Potential, But there's some buts...
This watch has a great look and much potential 'under the hood', but I am having to return mine because of a defective altimeter - it gives readings of up to 1000ft difference in altitude over the course of a few days in the same location during the same kind of weather.

Clip could be better...
The neoprene holder won't snap into the clip at any angle, like my cell phone holder will.I thought it was defective until I fiddled around with it, rotating the holder 90 degrees and found out it will snap in.There's a rivet nearby and maybe the rivet is preventing the holder from snapping in in the upright position.Otherwise, it fits my receiver well and the clear front cover makes it nice to operate the GPS without having to open up or remove the unit from a holder, like some I've seen.

SporTrak carrying case is just right...
Magellan's carrying case with belt clip for the SporTrak series GPS receivers is just right....not too bulky or extravagant or just a cheap carrying case "wannabe."

Best Pocket GPS On the Market
This is the first GPS unit I owned and couldn't be more pleased. After consulting with friends who have owned multiple GPS units and reading various reviews, this is one of the nicest, feature-packed, and most importantly, accurate unit on the market. You can get all the features and specs on the manufacturer's website. A useful feature for me is the integrated traffic receiver. Since I couldn't afford to move closer into town, I use the real-time traffic report to avoid heavy traffic jams, accidents, and road constructions. Just this morning, I opted to take a longer route to get to the highway because the street I usually take was under construction. I've driven sparingly on that alternate route for 4 years and never realized there was a small intersecting street in a business district I can cut through to get to the highway more quickly. The Nuvi 660 pointed that out, basically shaving off over a mile in distance, traffic congestion, and plenty of frustration. GPS owners tell me having one will change my life... Good at what it does
I certainly wouldn't navigate around the world with it, but this measurer doesn't deserve the bad reviews it gets.It does its job well, which is to estimate distances on a map of ANY scale.It has a calculator built-in so your head needn't spin from the "complicated mathematics."How's it work?EZ. If a map shows that it is done in 1:200000 scale, you hit the "scale" button and punch in "200000".Many maps, though, just have that mileage bar, showing how many miles are equal to a certain number of inches.For example, say you have a map where 2 inches equals 60 miles.What do you do then?You're looking for the answer to the question, "How many real world inches are represented by one inch on the map?"Since 1 inch equals 30 miles here, turn on the calculator and enter 30 (miles) * 5280 (feet per mile) * 12 (inches per foot) = 1,900,800.Hit the "scale" button and enter "1900800" and you're ready to roll.What if you can't tell if that mileage bar is really 2 inches or 3 inches?Simply set your scale to 1 inch equals 1 mile (that's 1:63360, since 1 mile = 5280 * 12 = 63,360 inches) and measure it directly.

POOR QUALITY, POOR AND CONFUSING PERFORMANCE
I can never understand why electronics manufacturers have to put a bunch of unnecessary "features" into whatever they make.I wanted a simple digital scale to measure road maps, but after wading through the confusing instructions, punching button after button to set up time zones and such, I finally got to the map measurer part.It required so many mathematical calculations to make the conversion to the proper scale that my head was spinning - and then when I used it on a local map where I knew the actual distances, it was way off.On top of that, the last digit on the LED screen would only light up partway.Poor quality, very difficult to understand and operate - I sent it back for a refund.

I bought this item from Amazon two months ago and have used it everyday.The GPS is easy to install and configure, and operates flawlessly.It even looks cool sitting on the dashboard with it's purple light.The Ostia mapping software is pretty good, even though I found that a couple of 2 year old US addresses were not mapped.

just what the doctor ordered
I have an older Magellan 315 GPS unit that serves well for bike journeys as well as for trekking.Just needed a handy holder for my handlebars.Good solution from Vann's (Amazon vendor) and for $10 less than from the Magellan website.I don't understand what the other reviewers are complaining about.It fits perfectly and is not 'clunky' like someone noted.
Wrong bike mount for Meridian
At first I was puzzled by the other review because my Magellan bike mounting bracket fits perfectly w/ my color Meridian. Looking at the picture, I see that it's different than the one I ordered. For the Meridian gps unit, try searching Amazon for "Magellan Meridian Bicycle Mounting Bracket" to get the right one.

Bolt-on rubbish that fits nothing
So when I bought my Magellan Meredian GPS, I also wanted a bike mount to go along with it.Of course Amazon is only too willing to suggest thirty-six "if you bought....try...." accesories.

I'll keep this short.
Worth the Money
I travel a lot, mostly flying into an area and renting a car, and this add-on to my Axim x50 has been a fantastic tool. It's easy to use, there are 3 different display options while you're driving, and it's small and very light, easy to pack.
