Great speakers for the price
I have had no problems with interference as some other reviewers have stated.These speakers sound great at low, medium and high volume levels.You're obviously not going to get crystal clear bass out of $20 speakers, but it gets the job done.You can't get bass and treble controls on cpu speakers in this price range.One drawaback...if you're pressed for space, look elsewhere.These speakers are fairly large as far as todays standards go.

Great speakers, but there is still interference...
No doubt that these speakers are amazing, and have great quality considering that they are pretty cheap in terms of price. They are very easy to set up, they look really cool, and the volume can go up extremely high, until you think you are going to deaf.

I'm soooo glad I unloaded these on someone else
I ditched my AM6 speakers through eBay and bought some good speakers instead. Anyone who likes Bose must only have their clock radio as a point of reference. I was able to sucker some chump into paying $400 for my Bose AM6 speakers, which I turned around into a set of Athena .5 speakers and a 10" Velodyne sub. All running from the same Pioneer VSX-D711 AV receiver as the Bose. My new speakers set me back about $350, leaving money left over for speaker wire and stands.

Not worth the money or hype!
I heard this set at my Grandfather's friend's house. I think the fella spent like $750.00 on it from a local outlet mall. What a waste of well earned retirement money! He had a higher end Marantz receiver firing these puppies, and let me tell you the receiver was being shamefully wasted on these speakers. The lower end frequencies were o.k. and the highs were sufficient. What I felt was missing was the solid mids and voice presence. Don't get me wrong, music sounded good. But, trying to watch a movie was like riding in a car with huge subs and tweeters in the front door pillars. The lack of mid-bass was a huge downfall with these speakers.

I bought these speakers for a christmas gift for my sister,s iPod and portable CD player. The speakers worked good until now. There is a buzzing noise and they won't play anything from the iPod. superb sound
I was looking for a slim tower style speaker to upgrade my 2 front speakers for my surround sound system. After looking around onlne i saw many tower style speakers but was disappointed that most speakers were just tall and empty, i thought why make a tall speaker and only put 1 speaker in the box how deceiving. I finally settled on the athenaws -60 cause it was one of the only speaker with more than one speaker in there although it wasnt as tall as the others in its class . I took a pair ofthose babys home and hooked them up, alll i can say is AMAZING, sound is crisp clear and powerfull, All voices shine through these speakersand the tweater is crisp and clear. well worth the money. perfect compromise for surround sound
Yes, these are not audiophile grade speakers.However, I can drink $2 Chuck and Insignia (Phelps) and appreciate them for what they are.These speakers installed easily and are clean and attractive on my walls.The pointable tweeter is a nice touch as I can aim them toward my ears on my couch.Most of the sound coming from them when watching movies/tv is appropriate for the quality of the speakers.I no longer have to wonder where the wires will run or the speaker stands will go for my surround speakers, its all in the wall.Buy 'em, you won't regret it. ... Bose lost my business thanks to Polk
I'm no audiophile. Or maybe I am. I have a hard time believeing there are people with such discriminating ears that they "hate the harshness of digital audio over the warmth of old vinyl"--but maybe they do.

Could Be Better
The first thing about this Sony 5.1 SACD speaker system that I find appealing is the build of the 5 identical micro satellite speakers. The pair of micro 57mm woofers are encased tightly into the compact cabinet, with barely enough space left for the bass vents and the SACD tweeter. The cabinet is solidly built with a thick metallic gloss, but I suspect the paint will wear off if it is not handled carefully. The micro satellites tend to sound a little mid-bass heavy, with the 150-300 Hz range eclipsing the mid-high (1-5kHz) range. The tweeters shine when your sound source spikes with high frequencies. The satellites sound good with general music sources, but dialogs tend to sound a little muffled with analogue television broadcasts unless your surround receiver is equipped with built in parametric equalizers. The subwoofer extends the frequency response down to around 30Hz, but tends to crack and muffles dialogs when set to high levels. Sounds best when mixed with the satellites at lower levels, as the micros are already pumping out ample mid bass information. Should be used in a room with solid walls, ceiling and floor. Not recommended for rooms with a wooden ceiling. Also, since the unit does not have a frequency cut-off dial, it is important that your AV receiver comes with one so you can better fine tune the bass output. The build of the unit is somewhat fair when compared to the higher end models, but nevertheless looks good next to all your silver paint coated AV appliances. The woofer comes with a switchable power saving mode, so it is best to turn it off when you want to listen to music at low levels. The power saving function will turn the woofer to standby in around 15 minutes if the input signal is low.
Good choice for surround sound on a PC.
I use this speaker system on my PC connected to a Yamaha RP-U200 CAVIT External Audio Receiver. The speakers are small and the sound quality is good for DVD playback, games, etc. on a PC. (These are not active speakers, you will need a receiver to power them). The system came with all of the necessary cable to hook it up, and floor stands are available seperately from Sony for the speakers. The subwoofer is fairly large and heavy, and has enough power. Athena AS-R1.2 Audition Series Bi-Pole Speaker
I have been upgrading my surround sound system over the the last few months. I had read some very positive comments about Athena's Audition Series line of speakers.Since there weren't any local B&M stores where I could review them in person, I was somewhat skeptical at first. I decided to initially order only the B1.2 (small bookshelf speaker pair) and the C1.2 (center channel speaker).These speakers replaced the front left, center, and right speakers of my Onkyo HT-S780 HTIB.
