It depends upon your needs and preferences
I've been using Cyber Acoustics low end speakers for a few years.I just wanted speakers for a pc I put together myself, and they were clean although a bit tinny.I like to hear vocal and piano, and they get by.I just got this 3 piece set as an upgrade, and although the two peripheral speakers are a bit better than my original pair, the boom box kicks out bass even when I turn it off on the right speaker (which is the only control over it I have as my sound card has very limited controls).To me the boom box is an over compensation...like saying "now let's add bass."I've faced it against the wall and put a towel over it.I'll probably give these to a friend, and get their two speaker product.The only reason I have to do that is the power supply runs through the boom box first, and then to the periperal speakers.
Really good for the money
I gave the system four stars, taking the price into consideration. They are not the equal of better systems like Altec Lansing, but they are really good for the price. We actually use a set as our stereo speakers in the kitchen. I don't know of a satellite-subwoofer system for the price that even comes close.

Mirage OmniSat Omnipolar Speaker
Whilst being a customer of Amazon.com since it's conception all those few years ago !! I have never been inspired to write nor honestly believe the product reviews one is proposed here now and then on certain products. Where I live (Paris) generally when one is proposed a brilliant product by the mainstream electronic sellers, it is quite simply a way of getting ride of (Believed to be Bad Products) which I have learned in time should perhaps be requalified as (Missunderstood Products) as quite often (but not always) these products turn out to be the best after patient study. Ever since I have been able to afford high quality Audio-Hifi (15 Years) I have litterally been an exclusive Bang & Olufsen devotee, but ever since the development and (perfection) of digital music (MP3/ATRAC/WMA etc.,) I have been frustrated by B&O's inability to move more quickly with the times !! I have recently decided to move on. Now to understand where I am coming from, I am awfully difficult to please,I am a designer and reduction to the purist form is my rule. After Harvey (my dog) the second most important thing in my life is beautiful music and believe me I am F****** difficult ! I honestly do not even know how I came across Mirages Omnisats but gosh am I glad ! The only true value in life is Quality and these Strange Speakers Speak Sing and Scream it !( Hey I'm a designer ! That phrase is now registered ! Lol ! No seriously, It is ! ) To help the guys at Amazon to edit this, a few last words. excellent system for the price
Bought it a few days ago for the living room. BTW, this is my first HT system, so I was surprised about the number of cables to connect, parameters to tweak etc. (the unit does not have auto-calibration). Once hooked up and with everything properly dialed in, the system rocks. Awesome sound, speakers and unit match very well. I had been coerced (by message boards etc) into thinking that only a +2000 USD system (if possible, garnished with rather exotic components) would do the job and 'make me want to watch movies'. Now, having the Yamaha system at home, I must say I am more than positively surprised how well a sub 400 USD unit can sound, for both listening to music and watching movies.

After buying a Sony system and not being happy, I researched other systems.

This is the first HTIB system that I have purchased. I have had other component systems, but they were to big for my college room. This system sounds incredible. I have tried it in small medium and (large rooms, best buy).

Terrific portable music for a crowd!

Decent Center Channel
This little center channel is great.I bought a bundled Pioneer system that came with a very small center channel.I have been shopping around for a cost-effective center channel, but most of the ones I saw were either too expensive or too big.This one is just the right size and provides a bigger/deeper sound than my small pioneer.If you're looking for a louder/deeper center channel, but don't want to fork over the money for a premium center channel, this is a good deal for that purpose.I give it 4 stars b/c while I was happy with the upgrade in sound quality, it didn't have the "wow" factor for me to give it the extra 5th star. ...
