i was skeptical when i ordered these because of all the conflicting opinions.i have to say that they are GREAT.10 minutes out of the box i had my itunes playing all over my apartment.i live on a busy street in manhattan so i was worried about interference but the sound is very clear.i love them!!

#1 Very little power. Hooked up to my ipod through the headphone jack with the volume maxed on both you can't make out much from across the room.

I have read all the other reviews for this product and find them to be good.The only thing I did not see is the fact that you can split the connection to the system with a simple head phone splitter from radio shack.Don't worry if both audio inputs are on at the same time the thing won't blow up.
Great sound for the price!
I bought these speakers specifically to go with my IPod and to be used in my office.They work great.I also have a Bose SoundDock at home and I honestly have to tell you I think that the Creature II's sound 95% as good as the Bose at a fraction of the cost.I like them so much that I bought a second pair for our vacation home.The only draw back is that some people might not like the design.The Bose unit is cleaner and easier to just set on a shelf.I don't think that you will be disappointed if you buy Creature II's. ... I'll be moving my stereo to the basement
In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to confess that I'm not an audiophile. I'm a music fan, and I'm definitely not the type to be more into his stereo than the music he plays on it.
Happily surprised
I recently purchased the Apple Hi-Fi Stereo inorder to have high quality sound for vacations, outdoor picnics and special events.We ended up using this system as the sole house music system for our children during a move. The quality of sound, the volume available and the ease of use were amazing and well beyond what I expected in this "portable" system.I would highly recommend it. On my wish list, I would like to see a black version and a padded travel case for protection and ease of traveling.

This one is a real gem
I recently upgraded my5.1 THX home theater system by adding a replacement AV Receiver and this gem of a subwoofer.
Amazing deal & very powerful
I recently got this sub to add on to two satellite speakers, and the results are unbelievable. With the gain turned up to barely to 25%, everything already starts to rattle (and I have a bit of experience with bass: 200W 12" sub in my car). This 100W sub is very efficient with its well designed front port, and the amplifier is very clean. At high outputs (haven't actually put it to the max because #1 wearing it in + #2 afraid of ppl complaining...), the sound is not distorted at all. Very, very good deal being 100W RMS (not 100W max like many of the other advertised systems...Yamaha). From a very dependable company too, Sony. Couldn't be happier!!! ... Read more

Great speakers for the money.I used them for rear speakers in my home theater and they blend perfectly with the rest of the system.

The speakers were easy to install and work well.For the size and price, they are a great deal.The bass response is not great, but that's not what you are looking for in speakers like this.I'm not sure they would be worth the original price at $250, but at <$100 they are well worth it.

Outstanding Speakers Outstanding Price
I bought these speakers because the price was so low for such a well known name.I've always wanted to try out some Polks and they didn't disappoint.I have Avid bookshelf speakers and Bose bookshelf speakers as well.I did a side by side comparison and the Polks blew the others away hands down.For $40.00 dollars you won't find a better deal.They have a well balanced, rich, full sound.Plenty of bass and beautiful highs and midrange sounds.Wonderful imaging.I originally bought one pair to use as my fronts on my home theater.They sounded so good I got two more pair.One pair to use as my surrounds and one pair to use as my main stereo speakers.

These are great speakers. They work great when i watch tv or movies. They're pretty cheap and work really well. I highly recommend them!

Good inexpensive speakers, but not for golden-eared listeners
The R15s from Polk can be had for as little as $50/pair if you spot a good sale, and are a reasonable buy for under $125/pair. They are small, not too heavy and nice looking. Like a lot of smaller speakers, they tend to open up more when played loudly than they do at lower listening levels.

A great steal for the money
For the $100 that Amazon is selling this for, you cannot go wrong.This is a very high quality subwoofer.It mated very well with my Energy Take 5 system.(same maker incidentally)I find it more powerful and musical than the Energy ES8 sub.
Little subwoofer with BIG clean sound.
It gets a five star for what it is. I listen with class A electronics through my Klipschorns which weigh about 200 pounds each. I listen in a 1000 square foot room with 12 foot tall ceilings. One of these little subwoofers can really made a dent in the room. I recommend that anyone interested in good bass buy two of these and place them in the two front corners of the room. You won't get Klipschors but you will get very good bass for movies. And it's not half bad for music. It really performed well on Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. When I played D'Drum it lifted the fringe on my rug.

Best of the best
The Polk Audio RM6900 5.1 cnannel home theater Speaker System has proved to live up to its reputation. I tried out several speaker systems in that class including the Bose Acoustimass 6 and 10 and found a clear difference. The Polk of course being superior in all aspects. It was very easy to assemble but required speaker wires that was not supplied with it (unlike Bose). The set up was quite simple and step by step assembly is provided.
Clear, warm sounding speakers
The Polk Audio RM6900's have a crystal-clear sound without sacrificing warmth. Movie dialogue is much easier to hear now than with my old two-speaker system, and music (classical, jazz, heavy metal) sounds great too. Some people have criticized the subwoofer for not being powerful enough, but I find it plenty powerful, and it adds a lot of depth to the overall sound. In addition, these speakers are great looking and fairly compact.

Reasonably Priced Surround Sound package
I purchased this speaker system to replace a Bose Lifestyle system that I moved to another room. I have to say that the sound quality is surprisingly better than Bose's much more expensive cube speakers and Acoustimass module. The included setup directions were easy to follow, but I did double check information on the Polk Audio website and found a great deal more detail on the best configuration for home theater speakers. The included wall mounting brackets were quite easy to use. I didn't need the front speaker stands and I am not sure who would actually use them (they have a large footprint but are less than a foot tall). Overall, I think for $800 this is a pretty good speaker solution for a 5.1 home theater speaker package. ... Read more

Very good speakers
I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else. These are very nice speakers for the price! Very controlled lows, and a pleasing sheen these speakers give to any music. Not sure how to described this 'sheen' or coloring if you will. It's subtle, but it's like there's some complicated general purpose EQ scheme going inside the speaker that seems to accentuate all the positives within the music. I really like this sheen. These speakers sound great with any music but excel most when playing at low, medium, or slightly loud levels. At very loud levels they are ok, but I would recommend something bigger and better...like the JBL E100's. I'm using these as my secondary set up speakers in another room. I am very pleased with this purchase. VERY, VERY good speakers just so long as you don't plan on jamming out really, really loudly with them.

Wow!
Hey I gotta say I'm impressed. I bought these as a gift for a brother in law to boost him into the home theater market. I was suprised that Consumer Report listed these at the top of the list considering the price I got them for but was a little sceptical and couldn't wait to plug these into my high powered audio system to test them of course before giving them to him. Wow! I unplugged my Klipsch 500watt tower speakers hooked up the sony's and gently eased up the volume testing the range and punch of these very affordable speakers. Man I'm still scratching my head in disbelief they really are impressive and I'm so glad I got them. I purchased the matching center/surround speaker set to complete the set but havn't tested them out yet. to be continued...

I have been looking at buying a center channel speaker for my set up and I have found it. It is very clear but not to bright. It reproduces voices really good. I compaired it to the Kilipse that are also in this range and polk cs 2. Thi sone sounded the best to me. I was able to get mine for $120 so shop around. But do go to a store and bring a cd that you like and listen to it with your other speaks if they have them and you will see what i mean. ... Read more

Good, deep bass

A must have for any good stereo system
I've never written a review for any of the many items that I have purchased from [...], but I just had to write a review for this one.All I can say is "wow!"I'm not sure why I waited so long to get a good subwoofer for my stereo system.The low-end music reproduction for music AND movies is OUTSTANDING!I am using Monster XP stranded speaker wire, so I can't comment on the sound quality with the speaker wire that came with the unit.Be sure to experiment with different amplification levels and cut-off frequencies (adjustable on the unit).

This Sony unit is absolutely a delight. I would stack it up against my Velodyne any day of the week. Having been an audiophile for 30+ Years and a Home Theater nut since before they invented the term, I've gone thru a lot of equipment over the years.

almost completely useless...
Polk makes great speakers (LSi series), good speakers (RTi series), ok speakers (Monitor series), and mediocre speakers (R series).But like most speaker manufacturers, their subs are horrible for the money.Why?Because they are betting that if you are already buying their speakers, you'll likely want to buy one of their subs too, especially if some slimey and/or ignorant salesperson tells you that you MUST "match" the sub and speakers.
Polk PSW-10: Great, with some reservations
I purchased this subwoofer about 2 months ago and since then have given it an extensive listening test.Following is a list of things I would do to improve sound quality as well as some reservations I have toward it.
