5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Sound
I bought these speakers based on price because I just wanted to get some budget speakers to start off with on my home theater. It turns out that these speakers have amazing sound quality easily rivaling speakers that cost 10x the price.
4-0 out of 5 stars nice system
nice little system but only 4 ohms so doesnt handle a lot of power. Good sound for an apartment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the best
The Polk Audio RM6900 5.1 cnannel home theater Speaker System has proved to live up to its reputation. I tried out several speaker systems in that class including the Bose Acoustimass 6 and 10 and found a clear difference. The Polk of course being superior in all aspects. It was very easy to assemble but required speaker wires that was not supplied with it (unlike Bose). The set up was quite simple and step by step assembly is provided.
5-0 out of 5 stars Clear, warm sounding speakers
The Polk Audio RM6900's have a crystal-clear sound without sacrificing warmth. Movie dialogue is much easier to hear now than with my old two-speaker system, and music (classical, jazz, heavy metal) sounds great too. Some people have criticized the subwoofer for not being powerful enough, but I find it plenty powerful, and it adds a lot of depth to the overall sound. In addition, these speakers are great looking and fairly compact.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reasonably Priced Surround Sound package
I purchased this speaker system to replace a Bose Lifestyle system that I moved to another room. I have to say that the sound quality is surprisingly better than Bose's much more expensive cube speakers and Acoustimass module. The included setup directions were easy to follow, but I did double check information on the Polk Audio website and found a great deal more detail on the best configuration for home theater speakers. The included wall mounting brackets were quite easy to use. I didn't need the front speaker stands and I am not sure who would actually use them (they have a large footprint but are less than a foot tall). Overall, I think for $800 this is a pretty good speaker solution for a 5.1 home theater speaker package. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice for the price
I found these speakers while looking for some speakers to compliment my Saitek 2 Illuminated keyboard. The speakers they replaced were some old Vaio speakers from my old computer. The speakers themselves look cool, and the sound they produce is decent when compared to my older computer speakers.the sub is on the boomy/bloomy side.I had an Altec xa3001 before, and I think that that sub sounded a bit better. For the fun stuff. In a dark room, these speakers do exactly what you want them to do...Glow, the multicolor effect is cool, the "beat" detect olny kicks in at high volume.Specs are:

5-0 out of 5 stars Why does Bose induce so manycontradictoryopinions?
I am not an audiophyle, just a music lover. My main system consists of Proac 140 speakers, MF x 150 amp and XRay cd coupled with PSU and MF DAC. I have a Michell Giro turntable. Whats this to do with Bose? may you ask. Well just intended to say that I am used to a middle range audio equipment with pedigree. It hapens that I spend many hours in a private office home, crowded with shelves, books and papers, so that I have no space to position box speakers. Recently I decided to purchase a Bose kit. My amp is a old Pioneer A 400, and a Marantz CD 76 MkII is my source.
5-0 out of 5 stars Look at each negative reply--Marketing blah blah
Don't be fooled by the naysayers on the Bose speaker systems, especially the Acoustimass satellite systems. These speakers will blow you away for their size. I bought a Lifestyle system when they first came out back in 1994. I was amazed, and everyone who has never heard a LS system from Bose, is completely blown away by the sound from such a small package. The LS systems are overpriced UNLESS you need and want all their features (and then probably still given you could build your own theather system cheaper with "different" sound, but not necessarily better sound). You're paying for the SMALLNESS, not necessarily the BEST equipment.
1-0 out of 5 stars this system blows (not in a good way)
do not buy this system.for the money there are much better systems out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best BANG for the Buck
Well I researched HT systems for 3 days and finally decided on the hkts14. I bought a Harman Kardon avr 240 reciever 2 weeks before the speakers so that helped my decision. After I recieved the system I installed it in about 3 hours including the sattelite speaker stand which by the way look awsome. The sound quality that these speakers put out is awsome. Crisp and clear, and the subwoofer all I can say in WOW it is bulky but I can deal with that. This thing rocks the block and I have it turned 1/2 down on the reciever and on the sub. I would insist that anyone who is looking to buy them then do it. This is a great system.

5-0 out of 5 stars You're going to be happy with these
Another review I read somewhere cited the subwoofer as reason enough to buy these speakers at this price.Spot on.The 10 in. you get (where most HTIB speakers come with subwoofers that are 8 in.) is good sized, so you might do well to prepare those others who will be sharing space with it that it will not tuck neatly away under even a large doily. But, for good reason: it pushes bass like few I heard in investigating the system I ended up buying.Even when you overpower the sound by turning the subwoofer all the way up it doesn't distort or muddy the way the others do.In fact, it's just more fun that way.The satellites are excellent and by all means spring for the speaker stands. My wife claims these as her sole and most valuable input to our HT system: they are sleek, very stylish and just class up the joint, nevermind delivering the sound at the same optimal height of your ear on the couch. The pictures here on Amazon don't do the overall effect justice at all.But the speakers themselves provide undistorted clarity and crispness at 20 decibels and that was enough to start peeling some paint and rattling doors in their jambs.I don't think most will have a room sized so that this speaker system would not fill it with a rich, clean, and full range sound expression. And don't let the differentiation some reviewers make between sound reproduction in movies and music detract you: get the right receiver and there will be no issue.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing system for $350
Sound quality is superb. The sound is very crisp and clear. The surround is very true life. The base is so powerful. We were amazed at how big the subwoofer was for the price. We only use 30% of the base and it sounds like 90%. Center channel also brings the dialog to out. Overall, we are very pleased with this system. We couldn't believe we could own a great system with the money we paid. Originally we wanted the Bose Acoustimass 6 (also 5.1 channel surround sound). However, the price was too high for us. The Harman Kardon HKTS 14 is $200 cheaper. Cnet gave it an 8.0 Excellent rating and it was top four on their editor's choices list. And Bose wasn't on the list. With all the good reviews I read, We decided to give it a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great
I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm using them with a Pioneer receiver and after figuring out where all the cords go, the speakers are fantastic. For their size and price they are outstanding. I ran into a little trouble when I began assembling the stands (also Athena) and found that a few screws and a clamp were not the right size or such. I emailed Athena and they mailed the proper parts out right away (for free).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great speakers small price
After spending about one month researching various audiophile review sites I took the plunge on a very low priced system which includes a Panasonic XR55 Receiver and the Athena Micra speaker package.[...]
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent HT system for small/medium rooms
I needed a 5.1 system for my 10' by 20' living room.Since the room isn't large, I wanted small satellite speakers to blend with the rest of the room.I wasn't willing to compromise on quality sound, so I did a lot of research before purchasing the Athena Micra 6 speakers.

5-0 out of 5 stars rich,clean sound
I wanted to get a new surround system that did just as good or better on music as it did on movie surround tracks since I'm an avid music lover of all types. Small speaker surround systems tend to do movie surround ok, but sound a little anemic when it comes to playing good old fashion music. I was impressed when I heard the ONKYO's at Circuit City due to their rich and clean sound. They also look great on the wall next to the ever popular flat screen TVs.Their brushed aluminum finish and accurate natural sound real makes a statement in style and performance. One online reviewer said that they have the gravity of a larger more expensive speaker system.
5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Sound
When I first started putting my Home Theatre together I relied heavily on user reviews found at a number of different sites. These speakers received high grades at all sites where my alternative, Bose, were just average.Unbelievable value for the amount they cost, I would gladly pay two to three times their cost given the result.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome speakers
These speakers look and sound fantastic! The speakers are all very easy to mount right on the wall with regular screws. You do not need any fancy speaker mounts. You can also mount the speakers vertically or horizontally in case you are limited by the shape of your room, as I was.Their low profile makes it look like you spent a fortune on your system. The sub-woofer is huge and puts out amazing bass sound. They are far better than other HTIB sets. The sound is rich and is perfect for a small/mid size room.If you want a step higher than these I would recommend the Paradigm CT series, but for the money these speakers are a bargain. ...

I am actually surprised at the number of negatives, thought that there would be some loyal blinded bose fans writing review.
4-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied
I have always run all of my media through my pc and my former speaker set (a Midiland 5.1 system) was thoroughly aged and falling apart I decided it was time to upgrade.I wanted something that had incredible sound with both music and dvd's.I shopped around and came to the conclusion I would aim for the form factor speakers. When considering this bose system, this MUST be taken into account. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Speaker System with 110+Watts/channel Receivers!
This is a great system -- easy to set-up from the box -- but make sure you've enough power to feed to the speakers. If you've newer receivers with automatic accoustic calibration (i've this feature on my receiver), set-up is so easy to re-create theater sound in your living-room!

Editorial Review

Ideal for small to mid-sized rooms, the Athena Micra-6 home theater speaker system is engineered to provide serious sound quality without taking up excess space. The six-piece system, which includes four satellite speakers, a center channel speaker, and a powered subwoofer, is recognized by its slim profile and high-tech silver finish, which nicely complement most flat-panel plasma and LCD screens. The satellites are also outfitted with versatile mounting brackets that provide a simple, strong solution for any type of installation dilemma. The brackets even rotate to different angles, letting you point the speakers specifically towards the listening area. Users can also purchase customized stands (the MS-STB) designed to suspend the speakers at the ideal listening height. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent system for the price
Bought it a few days ago for the living room. BTW, this is my first HT system, so I was surprised about the number of cables to connect, parameters to tweak etc. (the unit does not have auto-calibration). Once hooked up and with everything properly dialed in, the system rocks. Awesome sound, speakers and unit match very well. I had been coerced (by message boards etc) into thinking that only a +2000 USD system (if possible, garnished with rather exotic components) would do the job and 'make me want to watch movies'. Now, having the Yamaha system at home, I must say I am more than positively surprised how well a sub 400 USD unit can sound, for both listening to music and watching movies.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing product
After buying a Sony system and not being happy, I researched other systems.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great System
This is the first HTIB system that I have purchased. I have had other component systems, but they were to big for my college room. This system sounds incredible. I have tried it in small medium and (large rooms, best buy).

1-0 out of 5 stars I'm soooo glad I unloaded these on someone else
I ditched my AM6 speakers through eBay and bought some good speakers instead. Anyone who likes Bose must only have their clock radio as a point of reference. I was able to sucker some chump into paying $400 for my Bose AM6 speakers, which I turned around into a set of Athena .5 speakers and a 10" Velodyne sub. All running from the same Pioneer VSX-D711 AV receiver as the Bose. My new speakers set me back about $350, leaving money left over for speaker wire and stands.
5-0 out of 5 stars sounds like a theatre
thanx for a great system...my living room now sounds like a full theatre...it's hard to believe so much sound comes out of speakers so smallI got a great b-day present..thanx

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money or hype!
I heard this set at my Grandfather's friend's house. I think the fella spent like $750.00 on it from a local outlet mall. What a waste of well earned retirement money! He had a higher end Marantz receiver firing these puppies, and let me tell you the receiver was being shamefully wasted on these speakers. The lower end frequencies were o.k. and the highs were sufficient. What I felt was missing was the solid mids and voice presence. Don't get me wrong, music sounded good. But, trying to watch a movie was like riding in a car with huge subs and tweeters in the front door pillars. The lack of mid-bass was a huge downfall with these speakers.
