Impressed
I have never written a review on Amazon, but this product has enticed me to do so. I had integrated audio and the cheap little speakers that come with the computer. I installed this card (with the cheap speakers) and it was amazing how much of a difference there was even with cheap speakers that I am currently using. Just waiting for my new Logitech Z-2300 2.1 THX-Certified 200-Watt Speaker System to see what this can really do.

Good quality & Great price!
This card was very easy to install.Instead of loading the extra and unnecessary software (Media Source) I went straight to Creative's web site and downloaded the stand alone drivers.All went well and there is a significant difference in sound quality.

inferior quality product
I had this in my computer for a month, with a satellite radio on the audio-in and speakers on the line out.It started crackling and the audio was distorted after a few weeks.I took the SB out and went back to the motherboard onboard audio and it worked fine.

A quality card for a low price
If you are attempting to build or upgrade a computer on a budget, Creative Labs' Sound Blaster Live! Value card is more than worthy of your consideration.I've recently moved up to a better sound card, but the Live! Value card gave me three years of quality audio on my old computer.It is more than capable of providing true 3D sound depending on your speaker setup.The Environmental Audio options feature preconfigured settings for a number of popular PC games, and they also make for some interesting types of audio atmospheres for your CD music, featuring such options as padded room, forest, hallway, arena, etc.I did sometimes run into a problem playing music CDs in Windows Media Player or Real One Player-sometimes my Environmental Audio settings seemed to override my individual player settings and sometimes they didn't.Overall, though, music CDs will sound quite good with this sound card and will suit the needs of most users.All but the most intense gamers should also be happy with this card's performance.If you want better audio, you naturally need to pay a little more for a more technologically advanced sound card.For the average user, this card will more than meet your audio needs without inflicting significant damage on your wallet.

Fine
This is a good audio card if one needs to supplement the main on-board sound mechanisms in a PC. My own model has a motherboard with an AMD chipset, and my machine, which runs on Linux Mandriva, recognizes the card's presence and readily provided the necessary drivers for it.
WARNING: Do not buy
This card have drivers troubles in windows XP. Some fixed with SP2.

Beware of the digital SPDIF optical output
Even though the card is 7.1-capable, the SPDIF output is only 2-channel. It seems that this is the case with all these cheap surround "SPDIF" cards.

Basically works
It basically works, but in my installation it had low signal level output and a loud 60Hz hum. A ground loop isolator removed the hum, but revealed a faint high-pitched whine. It did, however, come with a very good audio cable. Users might be happier with the Turtle Beach Advantage Micro, and save a few dollars.

Great Sound Card
I use this card with a Windows XP box and it works just fine. Installation was no problem, and I didn't have any pops/clicks the other reviewers noted. The is about the cheapest "professional" soundcard you can get. The sound (recording or playback) is basically perfect - no noise whatsoever. The breakout box is great since you don't have to keep going behind your PC to make connections. It also reduces the noise you'll pick up if you're doing any recording. The outputs are 1/4" TRS jacks, and you"ll need 1/4" to 3.5mm adapters if you want to connect to any regular computer speakers. I use these with Alesis M1 Active 520 monitor speakers and the sound is wonderful.

Does not work with G5
DO NOT--- I repeat, DO NOT buy this pci card if you have a Mac G5.It is filled with pops and clicks.It IS NOT a reliable way to record/listen to audio.At first, it worked great with my pc, but when I had them alter the software for Mac G5 (for $50) it does not work hardly at all.Buy a firewire audio card if you have a G5.

Exactly what I was looking for
This card/box works perfectly for me, and does exactly what I need it to do.The software allows you to mix your channels down individually, and the quality of sound that is captured from the inputs and outputs is unbelievable.The 4 in/4 out was perfect for me as well, since I use a mixer to mix down all my tracks/instruments, I can send out two stereo outputs (a total a four LR) from my mixer in the main mix and from the alt mix.This card is exactly what you need for digital recording. ... Clean sound, perfect for laptops!
I use this sound card for my laptop since it's easy to setup. It sounds great and the installation process is hassle-free. Just put in the install CD and plug it in! An unexpected bonus is that it makes my games run a bit faster since the sound is no longer being processed through the CPU!
An Excellent Product
I've owned my Extigy for three years now and, knock on wood, it's working just like the day I bought it.I use it to interface optical and coax devices with my laptop, and it has yet to let me down.

I have had the Creative Extigy for over a year, and I must say I'm extremely pleased with it.I use Creative's 4.1 speakers with it, and they work flawlessly and the sound is great.I can't think of many drawbacks for this device.It has practically every connection an audiophile could hope for.The only problem is the software... in that I mean that it is not updated for at least 6 months after the device is released.All in all, this is a smart investment and a supberb choice, especially if you use a laptop and want better sound. sound blaster pci 512
This is the best card for your money the pci 512 is a real sound blasternot like what the guy said below there. I a beta and benchmark tester for games ive tested lots of games bottom line the 512 works real good with most and all most all games. I have tested games with diff sound gards sb live 5.1,pci 512,pci 128.between the sb live and pci 512 the is not much difference just in looks. so i highly reccomed this card but if you can put in just 10 buck get the sb live 5.1

Quality sound card., great tech support.
I have to say, the comment about tech support would ordinarily imply that something "happened" that required my calling them.Rest assured, it didn't.My archaic computer (Compaq PResario 5070) has its sound card built into the motherboard, and I was told by the store guys that since i couldn't pull it out I would need to go into the BIOS and reconfigure them and disable the original drivers and such in order for the Sound Blaster to work.Well, not knowing anything about my computers BIOS, I called tech support and they were very friendly and helpful.The card is working great, and has all these cool 1/8 inch input jacks that I never had before on my old soundcard.Line in, Mic, front speakers, rear speakers... I don't do any gaming, I mostly got it for home audio recording, and as you can see from the actual hardware, it's been really helpful.Great product.

I have had this card for too long. I bought it when I upgraded to a Pentium 3 (that processor does not like ISA cards). I had upgraded from the AWE64 which was an awesome card in its time.Read more

I bought 2 of these and only needed one.. sounds great... amazing on movies, games, and music.... awsome for recording.... so many inputs and outputs.. its great.////

Audigy 2 is better
First, be forewarned that this soundcard/external box system requires an extra power connection inside your computer.If you do not have a spare power connection, then the external box is useless--and that means no MIDI connections (no keyboard), no mike, etc. etc.

It's not a docking station :-(
This is not the most useful device I have purchased, my intention being that of having few cables to plug/unplug from my Qosmio G25 when I move it, alas with this device I will still have to plug in the USB cable, plus find my charger and plug that into wall and computer . . .
