No support for XP makes this card worthless now
I bought this card by mail order and was told by the salesperson (not from this store!) that I could download drivers for 2000 and XP.Once it arrived and after a futile search of the net, I realised that there is no support for NT architecture.Who wants to use a sound card on an antiquated operating system!
better than expected
When running on Windows 98 and having dedicated hard drives for win,audio and cakewalk this card runs great cant beat it for the price.

Don't Buy this Card if You use Windows 2000 or XP!
I bought this card about two years ago and found it to be an excellent value.It offers an incredible amount of functions for the price.However, I have been extremely frustrated with the manufacturer's attitude regarding providing drivers for Windows 2000 and XP.For the longest time, they would not even comment on the possibility of providing drivers for these two operating systems.I migrated to Windows XP about three months ago and have been checking Guillemot's website for drivers practically on a daily basis.Finally, the company provided a small note to the effect that they will provide no 2000/XP drivers for this card.They blame it on the chipset.I can't figure out what difference that makes! ... This is a great card!
This little card is based on the c-media 8738 sound chip--the one you find as an onboard option for so many new motherboards. Of course- this one is a PCI card, but that's ok--I reccomend it (even though you can't see the pic) over any Creative SB card etc.... I build PC's for money--lot's of them. so I truely know what works and what does not. I have bought this one at NewEgg.com before, and they all worked great- I did not realize that Amazon carried it- It's buried so deep in the web site one might never find it- But it runs with so many game titles, and gives no problems. I would rate it a second place behind the Turtle beach Santa Cruise card that I have also rated here. If you are looking for a cheaper sound card than Sound Blaster, Or Turtle Beach-- Please by all means get this one--you will not be dissapointed. I have installed about 10 of these -- and they get great reviews --- So Amazon -- get this product up with a picture and put it out front with the rest of the fine sound cards, because even though it's cheap - It's a gem!

Not Bad once you get past the hassles
Purchased 5/28/04 It Was Baaaaddddd News!
Before i purchased this software i was seriously excited, and thought ' Wow know i can carry on doing what i do, and continue and maybe extend my music making capabilities.'The day i recieved this product i picked it up and installed it. Straight away My 500 odd ram pc was saving it to my drive, v....e....r.....y..... slowly, but i thought it was normal. Then when i turned the software on, the large picture came on, making me think this software was going to be fun, easy and very user friendly, but guess what? IT WASN'T! It has a very difficult setting and is very hard to use and even though i read the manual i still didn't know how to use that thing!!!!!!!!! I would definetly suggest purchasing "magix music maker 5 delux" it is WEEEEYYYYY better! ... Read more
