5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I am probably one of the most musically/sound impared people on the planet.I rarely notice the difference between my onboard sound systems and my sound cards.I only notice substantial jumps in sound technology.I am very reserved about getting soundcards, as I dont think I ever notice a difference between 16 channels and 40000 channels of sound.I have gone from a adlib, to a SB, to SB16, to Audigy LS and now to this card. That being said, this is probably the last card I will even pick up or need. The sound is a subsantial leap ahead of my other cards, and is amazing clear.I love the front panel for adding my headphones if I need them.I couldnt be happier with the price I paid or the product itself.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great sound card
Everything I have tried to do with the sound card has been easy to do.Great sound, great hardware and good software.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm a recording engineer
I have had the X-Fi Platinum for about one month.I upgraded from Soundblaster 5.1, a big upgrade.I have an Asus Motherboard, AMD processor and NVidia video and have not had any problems at all.I got the card to record vinyl to CD.I have about 500 albums. The advantage of the connections straight from the amp to the card were the selling point.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't be Hasty
most new laptops come with Good Enough sound quality. Most speaker systems will Fake high quality.Don't be hasty and buy a card before you've tested your laptop with your speakers. If it isn't good enough, then look at something like this. But it's so much cheaper to get the right soundcard integrated in the first place... what kind of laptop are you buying anyway if you're willing to spend 99bucks on audio for it, but not willing to fork it out in the first place?
5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Card
This is a nice card, I own an Alienware MJ-12m and I needed better sound. No problems at all with this card, just pluged it in, installed software, reboot and all done, working like a charm. Sound is very clear, rich bass even with headphones/earphones; games sound awesome... :D

5-0 out of 5 stars Hello Creative: are you releasing a ExpressCard version of this product??
This card is incredible! I tested it on my old laptop and the sound was unbelievable. Problem: I changed my laptop and it now comes with a ExpressCard slot as opposed to a PCI slot; can't fit the card anymore! I'm screwed ... Please Creative, when are you releasing the ExpressCard version of this product?? ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage
Before you buy anything from Creative, google the words incompatible + legacy drivers + sounblaster + windows xp
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent budget card
I was looking for a decent, but cheap 5.1 sound card, and this was the perfect solution. It combines the powerful Audigy sound processor, as well with EAX and CMSS 3-D.The software package is also amazing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Sound Card, and Cheap too!
I just bought this sound card at Bestbuy to replace my Realtek HD onboard audio that was having problems. Playing BF2 with EAX sounds amazing, vibrant sound and amazing clarity. I was going to buy a Soundblaster X-Fi, but why pay $122 when you can get amazing sound for only $22! Overall no problems, except the volume is drastically louder than my last sound card (have to turn the volume down to 1/8 what it used to be). Editorial Review

Manufacturers have made it increasingly easy to connect a host of FireWire and USB devices to your computer, but often at the expense of the microphone port and other jacks. Enter the Griffin iMic audio adapter, an affordable USB device that lets users connect microphones, speakers, cassette decks, and virtually any other audio source to their Macs and PCs for recording or playback. Among its many uses are recording voices or instruments for home movies, turning your laptop into a DJ studio, or converting your LPs and cassettes into MP3s or CDs. The iMic includes two 1/8-inch mini-jack ports (one mic/line-level input and one speaker output), along with an RCA-to-miniplug adapter for connecting audio components such as phonographs. Thanks to a small toggle switch on the unit, the microphone input can handle both mic-level recording and line-level signals. In addition, the iMic works with most recording software, and even comes with a CD-ROM loaded with Final Vinyl for Macintosh (for recording LPs), along with trial versions of several other applications. 5-0 out of 5 stars Works as expected
This is great piece of hardware. It's just what I've been looking at. I can connect my flat-panel iMac and start recording with no fuss at all. The manual is short but comprehensive. After all, do I really need a large discussion on how to hook up a line input device and start my recording software? I think not. The bundled software is simple to use and works just right. Of course, I can use the device with my other sound software without problems.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Pretty Nice External Soundcard
The sound on my PC laptop is actually pretty good, but for recording and play on external speakers, it was less than perfect. 30 seconds after plugging in the iMic, that all changed. I don't know if it's studio quality, but for transferring cassettes to MP3 (cleaning up noise with Audacity) and getting fuller sound out of the music collection on my hard drive, it's perfect. The iMic is great buy for the price if you want better sound options for your laptop.

5-0 out of 5 stars USB External Sound Card Lived up to expectations.
I purchased the iMic because I needed a stereo-input microphone, and my notebook computer only had a monaural microphone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome equipment!
Bought this thing out of desperation. Was getting a low level background hiss running the mixer through the sound card and at my wits end bought this interface. WOW! Absolutely NO background artifact and amazing recording clarity. Easy to set up easy to use. Bought it thinking I would be returning it... no way! I'm keeping this baby!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very high quality product for price
The M-Audio firewire solo is a really great product for music creation and even for sound output to a stereo. installing the drivers can be tricky though unless you download http://www.m-audio.com/images/global/manuals/FWSolo_UG_EN01.pdf
4-0 out of 5 stars DOES THE JOB.
This is great for plug and play. It didn't take me long to figure the ins and outs. I found the latency is reduced with the firewire connection compared to USB devices. I haven't used the mic input yet but the 1/4" input for guitar and bass I have and the latency is close to nill. I have also used the S/PDIF in with my 2-channel mixer with turntables and it sounds great. Worth the invesment. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Creative Sound Card So Far - $400 Should Guarantee That
This sound card is better than any of the previous versions I have owned: Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and Live! 5.1. It uses a different architecture than the others and I think the benefits (especially as they pertain to "prosumer" functions, like recording music) are clearly better developed. The sound improvement over the other versions is significant but not earth-shattering. I have not played any games with it installed so I cannot yet comment on this area. I will say that if it is as good as the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro was for games, it will be excellent.
5-0 out of 5 stars BLOWN AWAY
This sound card is amazing, i have actually compared the quality and processing of this unit to the other units in the x-fi series and this one is the best. it is the best sound card i have ever seen.
5-0 out of 5 stars A New definition to Sound Quality
I have this card for a week, and what I can tell you is that this card has a quality that I've never heard from any sound card - the sound is so clean, balanced and accurrate.

1-0 out of 5 stars Better off with something else that actually works
This is the entry-level for getting a digital audio stream from your Mac to an external DAC.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great audio quality but a few usability issues
The audio quality from this USB sound card is great. However, the input and output jacks are labeled very confusingly, and I have to use trial and error each time I hook it up.
1-0 out of 5 stars Mac Mini users beware
I've tried everything to get this waste of space running. It's being sent back today. It seems that the driver for 10.4.2 is not usable. You can try using the native Mac drivers by following these instructions, but they didn't work for me:

1-0 out of 5 stars An exercise in futility and frustration
I got this card to process sound so that I could bypass the Dolby Digital onboard sound chip on my computer's motherboard. The plan was for the Montego DDL card to improve game performance by routing sound through the card instead of the motherboard.Since the Montego DDL also delivers Dolby Digital, I would continue to get good sound when playing movies.
3-0 out of 5 stars Lost faith to turtle beach
Upgrading from Santa Cruz, I expected Turtle Beach can deliver the same good qualify with value price. At first, everything seems to be okay. Using DDL through the optical output, the sound is unbeatable. Absolutely good experience with it. Music sounds very good. In games, do not experience something good enough to surprise you but nothing bad either.

5-0 out of 5 stars There is nothing better
I have had several sound cards, and have heard many others. This one is better than any I have ever heard before. In fact, it is better than my surround sound, and I am using stereo speakers with it.Also, no need to worry about the lower version of EAX.It has a built in mode called Sensura that is just as good as the Creative cards. Also the 192 Kbps output is exponentially better than the normal 48 Kbps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine soundcard for Linux
Installation and configuration of the M-AUDIO 5.1 card was relatively painless under Slackware 10.2.Prior to installing the card I un-installed OSS for the motherboard audio and then disabled the motherboard audio in the BIOS.After seating the M-AUDIO card into the PCI slot, I downloaded and installed the latest commercial OSS drivers which are now free for private/home use.[...]
5-0 out of 5 stars Rock'N
I purchased the M-Audio about three months ago and the experience listening to Music, Movies, and Games on my G4 has changed completely. 3-0 out of 5 stars Is not an appliance, IS a gadget
We have been using the SB wireless music for about a month.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
This thing is doing EXACTLY what I wanted it to do. My house has speakers wired throughout, but the builder terminated all speaker wire in our mechanicals room next to our furnace...a ridiculous place for a stereo system. To solve this, I installed the sound blaster in the mechanicals room and have it pumping music into a stereo receiver sitting next to it. My laptop is transmitting my music to it over our wireless network and the remote allows me to view, play, queue up songs, trigger pre-made playlists with the touch of a buttom, and adjust volume. The music sounds great, everything was very intuitive, and this is a great product.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great So Far!
I received this item about an hour ago.I am currently listening to it through my stereo.Overall easy setup and install.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best for the money...for a musician.
The M-Audio Audiophile 2496 is probably the best all-around soundcard available today. I am a musician, so for me, recording in a high quality was very important, and the gsif support was the main reason I purchased this. For the non-musician though, this soundcard might be passed up for the simple reason of convenience.
5-0 out of 5 stars Without peer for the price.
Exceptionally quiet and accurate. The best imaging of any sound card in my experience.I'm talking about a clearly audible difference here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Audiphile 2496 For True Audiophiles
Like the name suggests, the m-audio audiophile 2496 is for true audiophiles.I have had this card for years and there still is few options that are on par with this card for the same money. The audiophile has a full dynamic range of crisp audio with little distortion.I connect my sound card via digital coaxial cable to my Harman Kardon avr 240 and the sound is amazingly clear.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Audio Card
I use my computer to sing KaraOK. I upgraded the audio card from a integrated one to this Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum. The sound quality has been greatly improved as I listen to the playback: I no longer hear noise and the voice became more dynamic.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great sound quality
I don't watch movies or play games on computers. So this review is only based on my experience on listening to music through this sound card. To be more specific, optical output is the only thing I use on this sound card.
1-0 out of 5 stars Run Screamingin the Opposite Direction
I thought this would be a nice upgrade from the SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 , which had good performance. Upon initial install None of the audio applications are finding the card. This includes the MediaSource that comes with the Card.Hmmm.. It seems that to really uninstall the SB Live! first you must follow a page long proceedure outlined in a service ID file at Creative Tech suppport but not mentioned in the install instructions...another hour and two more reboots, and now my Live Card and all its applications are really really gone from Windows. Unfortunaltely this did NOT fix the problem. SO my next bit of advice from Creative goes like this:

5-0 out of 5 stars Great card
I've held on to my Live! card for years, and it was time for an upgrade. I bought the Logitech 5300e speakers to go with this card, and what an improvement! I'm not an audiophile, just a PC Gamer. And this card made a night and day difference in all of my games. The sound quality and the improved 5.1 and EAX is just awesome. Very cheap in price, very good in it's performance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Audio/Sound Card for bucks!
Sound Blaster (SB) Audigy 4 SE is one of the great sound cards I've ever had. If you want to learn MIDI and Audio-mixing with sequencing programs (e.g., Cubase, Sonar, Acid Pro, and/or Reason), this card is a GREAT start - "ASIO2" support. You don't need to buy expensive audio cards.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value
When I got a new computer I figured that the onboard 8 channel sound chip would be good enough.I thought wrong.I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I noticed right away that the integrated sound on my Asus A8N32-SLI board was lacking in the upper frequency range.DVD audio playback was also problematic. With the volume turned up a lot of electrical noise (hissing and what not) could be heard during quiet parts.I should point out that I am using Logitch Z-5300 speakers. These may not the best speakers around, but they are still very good.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy If You Own A Mac
The M-Audio Revolution 7.1 is listed as being Mac compatible but with all the issues it has currently, I am not sure how that is true.
5-0 out of 5 stars Can't say enough good things
This card, using VIA's superb Envy24 HT chipset, is a huge improvement over my Realtek and VIA Envy24HT-S based cards.Everything sounds better.
5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Sound Quality--It's like getting new ears
After months and years of frustration with balky, expensive, poorly sounding sound cards from that 'creative' company, I finally gave up and did my homework.M-Audio has been in the business for a long time, but most of there gear is specialty items. At just the right time came just the right product. This is an excellent sound card--the specs you can read, but hearing is believing.
