4-0 out of 5 stars Shredder
I've owned my DS-1 shredder for a couple of months and love it.It features a strong motor and shredder teeth.I like the basket attachment which makes disposal easy. I'm giving the product 4 stars because it recently stopped working; only works in reverse.Manufacturer is sending me a replacement right away so they get a 5 stars for customer service.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
Just what I needed for my home office. My first use was to clear out a decade's worth of old financial papers.Over a few days, I generated three large garbage bags of shreds for recycle, which is the heaviest duty I'll ever need from a shredder. The DS1 never missed a beat. It's strong enough for what I need to do, and looks good doing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars All Good So Far
It seems to be working fine. I went through several cheap shredders first. Most of the cheap ones are worthless, and if they work at all they don't last long. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice Features But Auto Shred Stopped Working
We bought ours at OfficeMax - 3 or 4 months later the auto-start sensor stopped working. It works fine if you switch it to on (instead of auto)but the auto-start was much more convenient. I like having a non-shred opening in the back for misc items and the credit card shredder works well. This may be the case with all shredders, but I was amazed at how much paper dust is generated by this thing. We finally resorted to using a kitchen trashcan liner since it was such a mess to unload. Tiny pieces of paper tend to stay caught up in the teeth, but this doesn't seem to impact the unit's ability to shred paper.

4-0 out of 5 stars Shredder
Works well so far. Heavy head and large basket make it hard to lift off moter head. Not easy to handle even though it has a handle to lift off. My old one was smaller and much easier to handle, but they no longer make that model. Should last a long time. Does the shredding job very well.

5-0 out of 5 stars It doesn't say it can shred CD's
I'm looking into shredders and considering this one. Just wanted to note that two reviewers mentioned they weren't able to shred a CD.Note: Unless the specs say CD's, they won't be able to handle CD's. Also note that this is a medium duty shredder. Even though it can handle 25-50 passes per day (8 sheets per pass), its not expecting you to shred 400 pages (8 x 50 = 400) all "in one sitting".If you try, you will overheat it and then have to let it cool down.Even in an 'office' one would more likely shred documents throughout the day rather than just sit there and shred documents continuously for one or two straight hours. (If you need to do that you need a shredder that costs a several hundred if not several thousands of dollars. The more total sheets per day is probably an good "relative" gauge as to how long you can run it continuously compared to other models. The Fellowes 120C handles 4000 sheets a day (compared to this one at 400 sheets). It'll cost about $390.You could also try the 20,000 sheet unit (model 420) at $1187.If have a lot to shred at home, try doing some during the commercial breaks while watching TV and do some every day rather than all at one sitting. Eventually you will catch up in shredding all those old documents. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shredder works nicely!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the Shredder I should have purchased three years ago....
...but I doubt thisproduct was available 3 years ago.In my profession, I am very concerned with security.I was trying to nurse our smaller Fellowes shredder, I believe it was a model 80C,but, it simply was not powerful. After reading all I could find on shredders, I learnedthatmany shredders do not even last more than 2 years. My last unit survived about 3 years (with frequent oiling). However,it finally jambed on some junk mail early last weekand I tossed it ( no, not thru my window, but that did cross my mind).I have compared 4 different shredders and decided on this model, the Fellowes PowerShredderSB-95C.This is one HEAVY DUTY item.I got it from Amazon and it came FEDEX on a Saturday no less, even though I did not specify more than standard shipping. And, despite the FEDEX guy throwing the box sideways at my front door,I have been using it for the past few days without any problems. This unit does do CDs and credit cardsby simply moving the main slot up 1/2 inch into it's alternate position.Very easy to operate and it is remarkably quiet when in use.The resulting shred is as advertised, about 1/8 inch by 1 1/4 inches long. I think it is worth mentioning that the Fellowes Corporationdoes stand by their warranty, but they are very specific in what they will honour or not honour. You cannot shred newspapers, cardboard boxes, or adhesive labels.I did shred newspapers and cardboard in my previous shredder as I did not see any mention of that at the time in the old warranty.I'm certain it has to do with newsprint easily coming off the pages.Cardboard (as in boxes) is often strong and laced with adhesive binders-- I can live with that. One item you must avoid are adhesive labels .The adhesive comes off on the blades and will eventually turn to a sludge-like substance, especially when you lubricate the unit withoil.I do love the narrower design of this unit and would you believe---it even rolls around my office on it's wheels-- if the unitwere a bit larger you could probably hitch a ride down the hall.Granted, I have just used this for a few days, but if there is a problem.you will most certainly see another review with my findings.I do trust this will be of some use, I know what a pain it is trying to decide which of these items to shre-, er I mean spend your hard earned cash on.So far, my money has been well spent. Oh yes,it even comes with 5 free bags and a free bottle of shredder oil (about 1.5 oz). Please don't wait on purchasing a large plastic bottle of shredder oil, it will help protect your investment and extend the life from two to three times. Thanks for reading this--- I do hope it helps. I wonder if this is how they make Shredded Wheat (sorry, I couldn't resist).God Bless.- Doc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Warranty honored without a problem; upgrading
I currently have the Model PS-80C-2 and today it died.I called the support number on the website and they are shipping out a new shredder right away. She said it will ship UPS and arrive within 7-10 days. They honored the warranty without any issue at all.So I am not sure why the other reviewer had such a problem.Because I love my shredder I am giving the replacement to my husband and upgraded to the SB-95C today.Amazon had the best price especially if you do Amazon Prime shipping.Having had a shredder now for over a year, I would always recommend getting the "best" and spending the extra money--I use it in a home office and have learned that I use it more than I thought I would. If you are getting a new shredder for a home office I would recommend this model over the 80C that I currently have.It will shred DVD's, CD's, etc.One word of advice---no sticky labels in your shredder--it will void the warranty....and make your shredder not perform right over time.( I learned the hard way ).They will go through your shredder and leave a residue that builds up on the blades.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fellow Brand Shredders
I purchased a Fellowes Shredder and felt it shredding money right out of my wallet. If you ever disasmbled a Fellow shredder, you would come to see that they use cheap plastic parts where sturdy mechanical parts made of metal are needed, this is why most of their products fail and their customer service is as good as their cheap parts.I took mine apart as it was useless and time consuming to deal with returns and their customer service.
5-0 out of 5 stars great product
this shredder is an animal!it shreds multiple papers at once, has a nice reverse function, and with the mesh basket you can "see" how much room you have left.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this shredder
If I'd read the reviews here for Fellowes shredders before buying one, I would have stayed well clear. As it was, I needed a cross-cutter saw this one (P70CM) on sale and bought it.It jammed on day 1.It has jammed numerous times since.Although the capacity states 7 pages, you're better off shredding just a couple of pages at a time, but be warned that they recommend the unit can only operate for 2min at a time due to shoddy engineering.6 months after purchase, a document caused it to jam resulting in the motor shearing the teeth off the internal nylon gears (for an extra 10-cents these could have been metal...).The other point is the wire basket which at first looks stylish, but oozes paper dust, and emptying is a struggle as the shredder jams into it - this requires some effort to dislodge which causes you exert and bend the metal basket even more etc.etc.This shredder has now joined its own output. The 1-star is for the 6 months of limited use I got out of it. ... Shredder lubricant is important to maintain the life of your shedder. ShredCare Shredder Lubricant Sheets are easy to use. The lubricant is inside the sheet, so there's no mess and no fuss, and the correct amount is applied each time. Regular use of lubricant will keep shredder blades sharp, reduce noise and dust, and prolong shredder life. The shredder should be lubricated at least twice per month or after 30 minutes of shredding. To use, simply feed one ShredCare Shredder Lubricant Sheet through your shredder. Be sure to run the shredder in reverse for 10 seconds to ensure maximum performance. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars ShredCare Shredder Lub. Sheet Review
So far they look like they are working. However, it is tough to grade a shredder lubricant sheet as to how good it is only after a couple weeks. In addition, they seam to be needed a lot if you are doing heavy shredding (1/2 hour or more at a time).I would think the lubricant would last longer on the cutting blades than the package indicates.I also think these are a little on the expensive side.I am looking for a cheaper solution. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Ok Shredder, but do not recommend
This shredder is not heavy duty and jams easily. Any large shredding jobs take forever. In addition, it cuts papers into confetti which is rectangular and larger than I would prefer. It was affordable and I like the safety features. However, my advice is spend a little more money and get a better shredder than this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars safe product
I love the safety lock feature on this shredder, as I have young children in my home. Also, the instruction manual suggests using vegetable oil to grease the cutting blades, so I am happy that I don't have to purchase a special type of oil. However, I am a little disappointed because the confetti cuts are larger than I expected. It probably isn't anything to worry about, but I was expecting square shaped confetti rather than rectangle shaped confetti.

3-0 out of 5 stars Messy but efficient
I've only had this shredder about 2 months so I can't really attestto it's longevity.
2-0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment
My shredder jamming was getting more frequent with the passage of time, and I could not understand why. I cleaned and oiled the blades regularly. Finally, the shredder just stopped working. So, I took the machine apart to find the reason.

Security, privacy, and recycling are just a few reasons for buying a shredder. Personal shredders, like the Fellowes Powershred 60, are ideal for the home or small office. You can shred confidential business and personal information, such as financial documents, old credit card and bank statements, and expired tax forms. By strip-shredding 12 sheets at a time through a top-loading feeder into its own durable plastic bin, the PS60 destroys old R&D files, designs, business plans, and board minutes, rendering them unreadable. 1-0 out of 5 stars Paper Wads Up Beyond Shearing Wheels and Blocks Shredder
I have a Fellowes PS-60 powershredder at work, and it works great.I bought this PS60-2 Shredder and have had it at home for six months or so.I don't know why my experience has been so utterly different than the five others who have reported in, the only thing I can think of is that there is a manufacturing defect in mine...in any case, when shredding typical bills and other office paper items, the paper frequently wads up in a wide space just beyond the shears that then narrows to form the outlet into the bin below.Once the wadding process starts, you keep merrily shredding, the wads get tighter and tighter in that space, until the shredder jams. You turn it off, turn over the shredder module, and then take about 15-20 mins to fish out all the wads so it will work again. With trial and error, you can reduce the wadding by placing only perfectly straight paper into the machine, and also by frequently tamping down the shredded paper. The problem is Fellowes dumb design of this one...I am going to call them to try to get it replaced, but thought I would warn others first.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great quality
This little shredder is the best!I've owned it for nearly 3 years now and it has NEVER jammed.I use it mainly for shredding junk mail and it works fine for my yearly file cabinet purge.Like the other reviewer said, it's not for heavy office use because it can't shred too many pieces of paper at a time and has just a 4.5" slot (just fold your papers in half lenthwise). But for home use, this is the best shredder I have ever used. When (and if) the one I have quits, I'm going to buy another one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy Home Gadget
My sister received this as a gift and has been pleased with it.It is obviously for tabletop home use, so don't expect it to be heavy-duty enough for an office.

This CD/DVD shredder made quick work of the 150+ data CD's and DVD's I burned for both personal and business use.My 6 year old son had great fun feeding them in as fast as he could and the machine was able to keep right up with him, it's fast.Out of curiosity upon recieveing the product I feed a CD through I had burned some time ago. After one pass through it was clearly unreadable, I was convinced!
1-0 out of 5 stars Not a Shredder!
I should have read the reviews before buying. This device is not a shredder in any sense. It does not shred! It makes some pits on the data side to make it harder to read, but leaves the actual data layer fully intact! How can you call this device a shredder?!? A complete rip off, and offers virtually no security. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It shreds but get the cross-cut
Given the price of this shredder, I'm disappointed that I didn't get the cross cut version.I shred a lot, including CDs, DVDs, and credit card junk that comes in the mail, but the cross cut version is $10 more and adds more security to the shredded output.

3-0 out of 5 stars Old technology but dependable up to a point
I bought the ps-70 since it was on sale. The new cross-cut shredders are now the in-thing and rightly so.This strip shredder will leave some "strips" still attached so that a determined thief might get enough to steal your SS number. Overall, its OK protection and the cross-cuts have more dependability issues since a more complex cutter system. If I were a banker or spy, I would go with the newer cross cuts; for home use this is OK.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment
I read the reviewers comments and I usually decide on what they

Editorial Review

The P-700 paper shredder from Fellowes helps guard important personal or business information from theft. This useful paper shredded comes with its own waste container and has a small opening in front so you can see when the basket is full, helping to prevent paper jams. A 9-inch entry width easily handles letter and legal sized paper, up to 9 sheets of which can be shredded in a single pass. With Fellowes' Powershred cutting system, the P-700 easily handles paper clips and staples without damaging the shredder, and should a problem occur, the reverse feature will simply spit the offending object back out.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FellowesP-700 Strip-Cut Paper Shredder Review
I am very pleased with my purchase of this product. It is smaller in size than I had expected, but now that I am using it on a regular basis I love it-Fits right under my desk, out of the way yet easy to feed paper into it. It is very quiet even when shredding. The previous shredder was a Cross cut and bulky to handle for me, and what a mess to empty the basket This model is so easy for me to empty. I am an older citizen and use this for my own personal use.The next one I buy will be the same-I have reccomended this model to friends.

3-0 out of 5 stars No replacement parts
We've had this shredder ~1.5 yrs - light use (credit card offers, cc receipts, cards). It worked fine, but the largest nylon gear inside stripped.Replacement would be rediculously easy, but replacement parts are not available.
5-0 out of 5 stars Did the cheaper shredder break? Try this one.
In my neighborhood, your garbage is examined by dumpster divers like CSI on a fresh crime scene. I don't think they all necessarily want your credit card statement, BUT it is unnerving to watch all those credit card offers with your name on it go in the same sack as a bank statement. All you need to do is watch the same garbage can for a while and you get enough info - credit card numbers, old bank statement, mother's maiden name - to open a new account.
