So far, this radio seems fine
I bought this radio for my hurricane kit.We've had the power go out for a week or more, so the crank power was appealing.I also like the TV tuner (the TV stations have bigger news teams) and the weather radio.
Non-durable
Yes I like the AM reception-- But after using the Eton Fr-300 for thre months. The hand crank generator failed. With an inspection internally I found it was due to a Plastic reduction gear. Untill that point and time I was happy with it.
Not a Bad Upgrade to the Grundig FR200
For both emergency and regular use, which I covet both reasons based on where I live, this Eton FR300 is a minor, but otherwise not bad, upgrade to the dependable FR200. It looks and feels durable right out of the box comparable to the FR200. With NOAA Weather bands instead of Short Wave channels I will never use, I'm kept up to date with any weather emergencies. The T.V. channel feature is also solid; I get my channels for news and information up here. With the crank handle I will never really need an adapter or batteries in the case of an emergency.

Great radio
This is a great radio for getting weather reports.The display is lacking if you want to use this radio for a bedside radio.It took me a little time to get it set up (reducing the number of watchs/warnings I wanted the radio to alert to).Entering the SAME code was not a problem.I highly recommend if you are looking for a radio to let you know when the next storm is coming.A few "cosmetic" changes (better display, ability to turn beeping off) would get this radio to 5 stars.

First Weather Radio
This is the first weather radio we have owned.I found it easy to program and set up.It has every available feature/watch/warning that a homeowner could need or want.My children 8 and 5 feel a great comfort during tornado season knowing that we can access the most accurate weather information in an instant.

Great SW radio that could be better
This is the best SW radio you can buy for under $150 but it does lack a few features that would have made it the best radio ever. Since this radio picks up shortwave it would be nice to know what meter band you are on. This radio does not display the band, only the frequency. Tuning the radio is another problem since it doesn't have a knob, only buttons. The Kaito 1103 is a superior radio because of these features and matches the performance of the Sony except maybe for bringing in distant AM stations. It also costs less. I have both radios but I use the Kaito much more.

A portable receiver packed with the most features available.
I owned this general coverage receiver for 9 months. It is high quality. It is full of features crammed in the smallest possible package for portability. The sound is good. The AM/SW reception is much better compared to my older 9 band analog Sony shortwave receiver ICF-4920. I must add that the sound coming from the smaller speaker in the older ICF-4920 is more impressive. Anyway, the 7600GR's FM reception is outstanding. In thick walled buildings, I recommend using the spool antenna, that is included with the radio, for improved FM reception. The first thing I did after I acquired the 7600GR was to get a good 120V wall adapter for continuous use. Knowing the available adapter was inadequate for clear reception, I snatched a discontinued Sony AC-E60L adapter, which supplies 6V DC at 650mA, and works well with the 7600GR. Alkaline batteries do not last very long in the 7600GR.
Does not catch other countries as promissed
Some people state it does, but obviously they do not understand that most of the forecasts they listen to are coming from the US;But in general, the radio is good. ... Read more

Nice Little Radio
This radio has a great sound and is nice and compact. A back-lit lcd and platic belt clip would have been nice. The tuning is a little touchy and jumps; however, the reception stays pretty much the same.

Good radio. Picks up signals pretty good but the dial is very sensitive and their is no button to lock it so it stays off. But it picks up signals quite good. Please note they will send you a refurbished unit but you wouldn't know from the looks of it. Its just like new and at J&R this radio costs 40 bucks so overall, its a great deal.

Works fine for me
I picked up my version of this radio (Lifelong brand) at Walgreens for about $20. The advantage of buying it in the store is you can actually crank on it and make sure that the radio you are buying works (AM/FM/weather ... and charge). It comes in a plastic package where you can access the knobs, switches, and crank - a big selling point for me.

In retrospect, I wish I had ordered the WR-300, as the WR-100 does not have an AM/FM tuner.When you're hiding out in your bathroom during severe weather (and my WR-100 is located in my master bathroom for convenience), it would be nice to be able to listen to your local radio stations for bulletins.Still, this radio performed flawlessly just a few hours after I opened it up.It woke me up at 1am to tell me there was a tornado watch in my area, and I turned on The Weather Channel and confirmed this.

Great radio, Fantastic price!
This review is for the silver model @ $35.00. I could not belive the price & had to get one & see what was up. I think mine is a floor demo as the tape sealing the box had been broken.
Mixed Feelings After Four Years
There is still a lot to love about the S350, big full sound, incredible FM reception, generally strong AM reception, good rugged looks. But the drift is a minor annoyance. Worse, two AM stations here in Los Angeles, 1150 and 980 (Dodgers baseball) get overcrowding, meaning two stations are playing at once, and no matter how narrow the filter I get this overcrowding. My 40-dollar GE Superradio III doesn't have this problem. But the GE doesn't have digital readout and I hate finding the sweet spot. So is there a big digital radio that doesn't have these flaws? I hear there is. Soon there will be a radio available called the Redsun 3000, which is supposed to blow away all the competition. Already the Redsun 2100 is said to be superior to the 350 but has ergonomic problems. As of 9-22-06, the Redsun 3000 is supposed to be only a few months away.

for my personal application this product could only been improved if it would have had a weather channel as an added feature. I will have to purchase a weather radio seperately since it does not.

Pretty great, affordable little radio
Sounds nice, looks nice, and sturdily built. Another reviewer "bet" that it was not made in Germany... he's right, it's made in China. Not sure why that matters except for snobbery. Winding the dynamo for 60 seconds or so results in a charge for a few minutes. Not bad, but only useful in emergency situations. Put some AA batteries in and you're set. The light is pretty bright, the siren super annoying, so you're set to drive each other crazy when the world ends.

Absolutely indespensable!
I have a previous model of this wonderful radio & just received THIS model for father's day. It is by far the coolest, neatest, most useful item around. Radio (fm, am, shortwave) flashlight, cell phone charger (with lots of adapters), siren and red blinking lights. Best of all - the hand crank works great. Needs about 1-2 minutes of cranking for 45 minutes or more of use (roughly). I keep it in the car for camputs and for storm situations and the like. Has a slot for headphone and an optional power adapter and takes regular AA batteries but I never bother. Just crank it up amintue or so and its works great.

Problems with durability and manufacturer's customer service
We sail our boat on the Great Lakes in the summer and have been overwhelmed by the watches, warnings and alerts coming over the WX channels on our typical VHF marine radio.These messages don't necessarily reflect the weather in our area.Therefore we decided to get a portable S.A.M.E. radio for the cockpit.The WR102 was an easy choice several years ago as it was the only unit I found claiming to be weather resistant.

sangean support stinks. the ats-909 is a tremendous radio and too bad sangean doesn't back it up with good support. i was afraid to pull too hard on the folddown stand for fear that i would snap the stand off. i sent an e-mail to the sangean tech support to find out if there was any special way to pull down the stand (nothing is mentioned in the instructions referring to this stand.) i never received an answer and after some time worked it out myself.moral: great radio with no backup.

First a disclaimer: I own the C.Crane "Super 909" and not the standard unit.
20+ Years of SWL. This is the best radio I've owned.
I was a little nervous about spending $200+ on a portable receiver. After having and using the ATS-909 for a full week I am 100% happy with it. My other (quality) receiver is a Grundig Satellit 800, that I had bought refurbished two years ago. The ATS-909 has much better sensitivity than my Grundig with a 50 foot long wire antenna at 15.000 Mhz where I just compared them.

Great Radio
I've been using this radio for a few days now and really like it. It's above average. Forget the guy that says it has cheap knobs, plastic case, etc. It really does feel sturdy, has good selectivity and pulls in the distant stations as well. The only drawback that I wish this radio would have is some sort of memory for selected stations. But I can easily find my favorites manually. It's a lot of fun and the quality is evident. I would definitely recommend it based on price/quality. Another plus that is lacking in most radios of this type is the big speaker. Most Short Wave radios have a tiny speaker which is really bad. I don't know why they do this??? I would gladly pay more money for a bigger speaker with some sound to it.
Recently got mine. Very nice and compliments my collection well...
I purchased my Eton here on Amazon for $99 and received mine several weeks ago with great anticipation. The wait was worth it, since the digital tuning and very good reception make the radio well worth the price paid. I own a large collection of shortwave radios and feel that this radio competes well with some of my classic 70s/80s era receivers which are extremely selective and cost more than the Eton/Grundig hardware.

great quality
I have used SW radios for many years and by many manufacturers:Sony, Grundig, Sangean, Radio Shack (made by Sangean).This model by Eton stands up to them all, is elegantly designed, logical and easy to use, and has great sound.
Solid well made radio- Improvement over old Grundig line
Hi , I'm Vince the radioman I've have a large collection of radios and I love to do compares and share my thoughts. The Eton E 10 ( along with the E1 and E100) is a vast improvement over to old Grundig line of radios. You can immediatly see and feel the difference in the quality of how the radio is made. It has a robust memory (500 presets) and complete functionality including wide/narrow band selection and an interference filter which seems to work well. The tuner sensativity and dynamic range are very good considering the price . It has an antenna trim feature which is a pleasure and not usually available on a radio of this price range.I enjoy AM DXing and have had good results, not quite as good as the SONY 7600 or the Sangean ATS909. The Sangean is priced way above the E 10 but the SONY 7600 is just a bit more but has SSB which the E 10 does not . The E 10s cosmetic design /sleekness is wonderful and as I've said earlier ...a well made radio!! The control buttons are a bit small and cause issues for those of us with large hands, but not a show stopper. My actual rating here is 4 and a half stars , I do really like this radio but its not a SONY , it does have some hiss and selectivity issues, but none the less a very good buy for the money .

Sony vs. Eton
I have both the Sony SW7600GR and the Eton E10. The Sony has less noise through the headphone out compared to the Eton. You can verify this by turning the volume knob all the way down. There is considerably less background hiss with the Sony.
