This advanced graphing calculator is packed with more features than you might know how to use. The TI-89 Titanium lets you perform the expected functions of an advanced model--basic math, algebra, calculus, graphs, matrices, and statistical functions--and do cool stuff like creating animations, graphing 3-D rotations, and plotting contours. Graphing functions include basic function graphing, parametric graphing, polar graphing, sequence graphing, 3-D graphing, and differential-equation graphing. Additionally, the TI-89 Titanium includes symbolic manipulation, constants and measurement units, statistics and data plots, a numeric solver, a text editor, programming capabilities, tables, a split-screen function, variable management, and the ability to link to other calculators or a computer.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A lot of hype, but it quickly fizzled
Bought this product recently based on recommendations for an advanced math/ scientific calculator.Apparently, TI has almost all the schools eating out of their hands by having classrooms make these calculators mandatory in many classes.
5-0 out of 5 stars TI-89 Titanium For Statistics
Pros:
5-0 out of 5 stars For calculus and beyond, perfect!Anything below calculus, this is too much!
After using a TI-83 Plus calculator for the last 5 years, I decided to upgrade to the TI-89 Titanium. This calculator is unbelievable in its features and power. First of all, it is more suited for advanced math, such as calculus and beyond. This calculator is NOT meant for high schoolers who are taking algebra, geometry or trig classes. If you don't know what a derivative or an integral is, then save your money and buy a TI-84 instead. (Besides, I believe most high school math teachers ban the TI-89 on tests) This calculator can also run programs in its Flash memory, which can be downloaded from the TI website. A USB cable is included standard. TI has made the newly designed sliding cover much more secure than the old TI design (TI-83 plus, TI-86, TI-89 regular), whose sliding cover was not very secure and became looser over continued use. The cover is very hard to get off the first few times (I was almost afraid of breaking it off), but over time it has gotten easier. Switching over from the TI-83, the only problem I've encountered is the operation of this calculator is very different from the 83.The menus are different, the interface different, different buttons. It takes a while to get used to. ... If you bought yourself a financial calculator during the 1980s, chances are it was this bad boy. Nothing has changed since its introduction--it still uses Reverse Polish Notation (RPN), is easy and versatile in programming, and has a thin, sturdy casing. Certainly, there's been newer, fancier calculators introduced since, but there's something to be said for the quality of classics.Read more

HP 12C is an excellent product. Robust, very easy to handle, comes with a nice leather case. There is a higher version of same product but only HP 12C and TI BA II plus are allowed in CFA.

1-0 out of 5 stars Only RPN calculator allowed when I took the PE
If this hadn't been the only RPN calculator allowed, I wouldn't have purchased it.I agree with all of the other reviews regarding the horrible "key action." In addition, in my exerience the calculator has a much short battery life than my older HPs, a general flimsey feel, and I had no confidence in the results of my calculations (due largely to the key action).I did pass the PE exam, but my lack of confidence in the calculator (even though I bought it and used it at work for 6 months before the exam) added a lot of unnecessary stress to the experience.
2-0 out of 5 stars mr
you really don't need to buy this product if you don't have time to read through its text-book like manual.

5-0 out of 5 stars HP 33s the 15c lives on
I have had this calculator for almost a week now. I am currently a junior level mechanical engineering major as well as a math/science tutor. I have four other hp calculators, the 30s, 48g, 49g+, and my favorite, a 15c. I have to tell you that i am a huge fan of the 11c and 15c calculators. I think that they are the perfect blend of size and functionality. I also like my 49g+ a great deal. Due to the increasing popularity and value of the 15c, I was looking for something similar that I could throw in my back pack and take to school with out the fear of it being stolen or distroyed in some insane scooter accident. This calculator interfaces exactly like the 11c and 15c. It has the exact same program interface as well. Programming this thing is fun and easy. It makes you feel like a hero to be wizzing through some of these lengthy formulas while others are frantically pushing buttons. It even one-ups the old dogs by offering a way to imbed messages and equations in your programs. It also can prompt you for variable inputs instead of storing the variables before you run the program. In short, I love this thing. I am shelfing my 15c for the collector value. Also, I understand that there are 20 some odd years of improvements between the 15c and the 33s, but it is funny to program in the same equasions and watch how the 33s instantaniously displays the result, while the 15c flashes "running" for 10 seconds. Buy this calculator, its amazing. Learn to use RPN. It will make you smarter, lol, maybe not, but it will make you examine long math problems much more efficently. This is a great machine with a great lineage. Maybe it helps that I live in Corvallis Oregon where the 10c series was birthed and have talked to some of the engineers who built these things, but i love them. If you are looking to put away a vintage calculator that is increasing in value without learning a whole new operating system, or are in the market for a super fast super versitile programmable scientific calculator, this is your best bet. Don't wait till the FE exam to get it. You can master programming this thing in a few hours if you know RPN, and a couple of days if you don't. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just got it brand new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just bought this graphing calculator. It looks and feels very stylish and comfortable. I believe this is a better choice than the ti-84 plus silver edition as that version has a little more memory and a few more applications and cost about $20 more. I don't care about those extras because i only need it for my math class!!If you need a graphing calculator this is the one to get as it it almost identical to the ti-83 plus and only cost about $10 more. Buy this and you get a better screen, more memory, and faster speed!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars TI-84 Plus
Much better than the TI-83 ... Great device, comes with lots of programs the TI-83 doesn't ... but now that I'm using it I would have rather forked out a few more dollars to get more computing power the TI-89 offers. For example ... The TI-84 can't compute factorials above 90 or so... Hope this helps...

3-0 out of 5 stars not very friendly for entering matrix

5-0 out of 5 stars The most amazing calculator for its value
For more than 20 years, Casio has maintained and upgraded this classic design (my first calculator, was a FX602FP more than 20 years ago).I find it terrific, easy to use for the casio habituee, and for those eager to learn it, there is no match to the intuitive way the functions are arranged and called for in this device.Amazing price, with dual power, cover and manual.Congratulations to the design team, for packing so much for so little.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helps avoid errors
I agree with the views of "Anonymous" about this calculator. Rather than repeat what he said, I would like to point out that an important feature of this calculator is fractional input. This is important when there are complicated numerators and denominator (something like (45+ 6 sin(pi/2))/(sq root(1.006)*15.0987). Using this mode, the display type is smaller and the entire complicated fraction can be viewed in natural format. Not having a single line of type scrolling off the screen helps avoid errors. Usually, an entire complicated expression fits on a screen.
4-0 out of 5 stars Best scientific calculator yet, but with some annoyances
This calculator does some great things: solve 2nd and 3rd degree polynomials (quadratic and cubic equations), solve 2-eq-2-unknowns and 3-eq-3-unknowns (must be in the correct form), solve equations of any form that contain 1 variable type, convert degrees/radians, convert rectangular/polar, solve integrals/derivatives/summations that have numeric answers, it keeps answers in "exact" notations (a result can show up to be "5/2 pi", and press a button to toggle the decimal value), it can do simple matrix operations on up-to 3x3 matrices, it can accept an "f(x)=..." and produce a table of values when you input the start value, stop value, and step (you must limit it to 30 results), and you can input a bunch of data values and instantly calculate the mean and standard deviaion. The screen is huge, allowing for menus that haven't been possible on previous scientific calculators, and it's easy to enter fractions with lots of stuff in the numerator/denominator.

There are many inexpensive scientific calculators on the market, but few boast the two-line display and other advanced features users get with the TI-30x IIS. The display shows the equation you are creating on the top line, and the numbers or symbols you are currently entering on the second line. Once the equation is solved, the results are displayed on the second line, and you can use the four arrow keys on the front of the calculator to edit the original equation in any way you like for a recalculation. Better still, pressing the up arrow repeatedly lets you browse through a cache of dozens of previous calculations, meaning you can look back to see the answer to a problem you solved two minutes ago, two days ago, or whenever. 5-0 out of 5 stars BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trust me on my word. This is the best calculator ever. And if you dont believe me just because i am a kid, well it's your loss. I bought this calculator and i gave it to my older cousin and he is in high school. Then he gave it to me and i am using. If your wondering what a 12 year old is doing with a scientific calculator well i go to HUNTER COLLEGE and it is from the 7th grade to the 12th. This claculator is best for freshman high schoolers and going to college. The only con is the buttons wiggles, but everything else is fine. Buy this calculator for a fine price or you will be sorry. it works from pre algebra to pre-cal and knows trigonometry.

This is probably the best calculator for middle to high school kids.I got mine in seventh grade and it was all I needed until calculus. In fact, we weren't even allowed to use graphing calculators until pre-calc.I held off getting one until calculus, though, because my TI-30XIIS did everything i needed it to and was so easy to use.

4-0 out of 5 stars TI Voyage 200
This calculator offers a comprehensive set of mathemeatical and statisitcal features suitable for advanced students or professionals. If you have work which demands this kind of flexibility and computing power it is a must. The package is comprehenise and supplies all of the compents needed to get started. One review I read suggested that the usb cable was not included; it is.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Calculator - Terrible Software
I have owned my Voyage 200 for several years now and use it for all sorts of things, from managing my investment portfolio to analyzing engineering data. This is a great calculator until the daycomes that you have to update the operating system. I have been forced to update each time I have added a new application to the calculator, as new applications won't run without the latest version of the operating system. The update involves wiping out everything you happen to have saved in memory: programs, data, applications - everything. TI supplies an archaic software program to load the operating system and applications. It brings back memories ofthe 1980's when using a computer really did require a computer scientist. With enough time, effort and preplanning, it is possible to save your data and actually get it back onto the calculator close to the way it was to start with, but make sure you have plenty of time and patience pills.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for middle school level math
I have the original TI34 calculator and bought it back in the 6th grade for Pre-Algebra.I'm now a college sophomore and still use it occasionally. This calculator was perfect for Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry and I couldn't have imagined using any other calculator. There was no need for anything more advanced (such as a graphing calculator) in those classes. It is very simple to use and doesn't have too many buttons. In fact, I've never even used half of the buttons that are on it.It is very durable as it has lasted me 9 years of dropping it and spilling drinks on it.It is a must have for any middle school math student.

3-0 out of 5 stars Funky functions & sticky buttons
I was looking for a calculator that featured fairly complex function capabilites, but wasn't too bulky or pricey. Having had a good experience with Texas Instruments' TI-34 model several years back, I decided to give the sequel a shot. Aside from having the complex function calculating capabilities I was looking for, the TI-34-II's main attraction is the ability to backtrack through previous calculations (up to seventy-some-odd calculations back). This is a most welcome feature for someone who's never really figured out the memory storage/recall thingy. It's also a great way to check and see if I entered a previous calculation correctly if I come up with a weird or undesirable result. But not only can I scroll up and down through previous entries, I can also scroll right and left to check out off-screen portions of calculations.

5-0 out of 5 stars great calculator
For the price, it is hard to beat this calculator.I've had this model for years and it is still going strong, with no problems or even a change of battery.Numbers are easy to read and the buttons are fairly large, with second functions labeled clearly.Lots of functions, and it is easy to use for stats.I also like the fact that it has an OFF button, which many models don't have.If you need a graphing calculator, of course this will not do, but for everyday use this model is a durable workhorse that I highly recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars A dissenting opinion on a terrible calculator
I bought two of these calculators and neither performs well - the buttons are terribly sensitive to the point that we often accidently enter the wrong numbers, so we have to pay extra attention.Further, my calculator is currently displaying entirely different numbers than I am putting in - perhaps the battery is dying, but I have no idea how long it may have been doing this.I will definitely be looking for a different calculator next time around.

Earlier I possesed a Texas Instruments TI30XA Scientific Calculator but had to buy a new calculator since I lost my previous one. So I decided to try some other make and bought Casio FX-260. This calculator is much more user-friendly than Texas Instruments and is much cheaper too! I use this calculator for solving Calculus 2, Mechanics and General Chemistry related problems. They work great and sometimes I feel it was good that I lost my previous calculator.

4-0 out of 5 stars This really helps in Algrebra 1 - 2
I love this little piece of machinery! It's cheap, durable, holds large buttons, and can even calculate fractions! How common is that?! Unfortunately I'm the only one in my 9th Grade Algebra 1 class that has one. The only 2 things that bother me about it are: Dust/dirt gets stuck on the rubbery like buttons very easy and makes them look hairy and feel putrid. And the look of it, It looks so retro it could of been made in the late 70's. Well anyways this is good for the SAT's and is even Solar powered, what a plus! Casio all the way! Texas Instruments can kiss Casio's butt! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Has anyone ever wondered...
why TI doesn't slap a high-res color LCD and large flash memory on these things? Maybe make them half the thickness and weight. What, would it cost an extra [...] for them? We have come quite a long way in the last 10 years... This technology is overpriced and stuck in the early 1990s.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Practical Graphing Calculator
This calculator has all the functions you need for math up to Calculus and it doesn't have all sorts of unnecessary features. The major difference between this calculator and the regular TI-83 is this has more memory and it has the Applications button that can store programs useful for math classes.
5-0 out of 5 stars It made a horrible class easier
The TI-83 made my statistics class easier to endure.I am not a math major, but had to take this statistics class to graduate. This calculator saved me many hours of homework time.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT calculator especially for those in elementary, middle, high school
Ok I'm a high school student and got this calculator last year for honors chem, my other scientific calculator (TI-30X) just wasn't sufficient. But this one is great! If you're in chemistry, it has easy-to-use conversions (from pounds-kilos, gallons-liters etc.), and for chem and other sciences like bio, and physics it has constants such as Avogadro's number and Planck's constant, which make solving problems easier.Plus, for math, it's the easiest scientific caluclator I have encountered, and has many features. The only drawbacks I can see are that it does not have a two-line display and you cannot go back and see previous operations and the snap-on cover is a bit awkward at first. However, the screen is easy to get used to, and once you do, the calculator is perfect. For students, this has all the features which you need up through Alg 2 and trig (and probably further) and is simple to use.Plus, you can use it on the PSAT, SAT, SAT II's, ACT, AP exams!Though other users may be right that you can find cheaper calculators with more features from brands other than TI, I would say that for those in elementary, middle, or high school, its easiest to stick with TI, that's what everyone else, including the teacher uses, and that's what the teachers in my classes have always taught us how to use new features using TI.By far I would say its the best scientific calculator with the most useful features that I have encountered, and your best bet if you are still a student.

3-0 out of 5 stars Expensive. Too expensive, really.
The TI-36X isn't fancy, but it works. It's very similar to the simple calculators I used in high school during the 1980s (Sharp EL-506S). Alas, it has some significant design flaws; I can't honestly recommend it as you can find much better calculators for less money.
4-0 out of 5 stars Best budget scientific calculator
I recently bought this to replace my 12-year old TI-35X scientific calculator. This model has the same 40-button layout and performs every function that I need. The buttons are clearly labeled and do not stick unlike some other inexpensive calculators. The `2nd' and `3rd' functions are easily distinguishable from the other keys.Unfortunately, the flimsy case awkwardly snaps onto the unit unlike the bulkier TI-35X sliding hard case. Amazon shows a hard case above, so perhaps I have a slightly different version of the TI-36X.Most people don't need an elaborate graphing calculator so consider this budget unit instead of spending significantly more for a fancier model. ...
