The Panasonic CQ-CB9900U MOS-FET high-power, in-car amplifier/CD player/HD radio receiver (50W x 4 channels) delivers pure signal output by minimizing crossover distortion during current-to-voltage conversion of the signal from the preamp stage. What does this mean? Benefits are apparent in an excellent high-range signal-to-noise ratio, reflecting minimal treble noise. The result is highly faithful sound reproduction with expressive musical detail. 1-0 out of 5 stars Obsolete first generation HD Radio
The Panasonic CQ-CB9900U is a sensitive, selective and good sounding unit. The disk player supports Mp3 as well as WMA playback, which is a real plus! HOWEVER, this is a first-generation HD radio which does not provide reception of the new secondary HD channels that have been added in many areas (see the Ibiquity site to obtain a listing of HD broadcasts and HD secondary channels in your area). The fun thing about the secondary (HD-2) channels is that most are being broadcast commercial free (for a while, at least). For cheap, this unit might be a good entry into HD radio... but 500 bucks is not cheap. I would watch for a price drop here! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars sony is a good product
this receiver is very good i owned it since 2004 no problems at all you can propebly buy a better receiver from yamaha but you gotta pay the diffrence in price for $300 this is good enough but here is the catch sony has great products but you are on your own their customer service sucks so if your product breaks -which they dont seem to-just go buy another one dont rely on warranty .

1-0 out of 5 stars Sony Service Sucks
Sony replaced an older es model of mine with this after my old one broke. It took Sony "9 months" to replace the receiver. After numerous calls to rude operators with no answers I finally threatened to sue. Only then did I get my replacement. My new receiver has been broken since i got it and am afraid to return it.
1-0 out of 5 stars After 7 years SONY has lost my business
(Although the product is not exactly the same as my purchase, they are very similar; so take this review at that) I purchased the STR-DE995 7.1 "Home theater" receiver. After less than one year, it deteriorated into an overpriced stereo receiver. For your amusement, I attached the letter I sent to SONY of America's CEO.

JVC's RX-7020VBK combines great features, high performance, and ease of use. 4-0 out of 5 stars JVC RX7020VBK DOLBY DIGITAL DTS RECEIVER
The receiver works great with DVD players. We set ours up to a JVC TVand a JVC DVD player and with the push of the button the whole system comes on. The only problem that I had with it was that it didn't have a A/B switch on it for the speakers. Other than that the price we found was a good price for what it had. ... Read more

The Panasonic CQ-C9700U high-power, in-car digital amplifier/CD player (70W x 4 channels) controls power amplification by rapidly switching the current on and off to drive the speakers. This promotes cooler operation so higher power can be handled without increasing heatsink size. It also offers SRS CS Automotive 3D sound reproduction technology, which delivers the virtual ambience and soundstage depth of a 5.1-channel surround system. It lets you experience a natural sound filed anywhere in the car, unlike artificial sound-field manipulation by methods such as time delay. TruBass and Focus functions are also provided to bring back the rich bass and sparkling treble tones that tend to be lost in compressed music formats like MP3 and WMA. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Technics Can't Make A Good Surround Sound Receiver
Technics had a great reputation for producing a high quality, long lasting product in a reasonable price range. I purchased a SA-DX930 about three years ago after my first Technics surround sound receiver took a dump after about five years of use. It worked well right up until it crashed and burned. Before I had these last two Technics receivers I had a Technics non-surround stereo receiver for ten years. I sold it to a friend, it was working just fine and they kept it for several years after that. I don't think Technics can make a decent, good quality, long lasting surround sound receiver. I know one thing I've learned my lesson, Technics use to be a quality product but not any more. This time I'm going to do my research and buy the best I can in my budget but I can guarantee you this it won't be a Technics! And it's to bad because they use to be a great product for the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost 3 years and not one problem
I purchased this receiver from my local Circuit City almost right after it came out.I have used it constantly for the past 3 years and never had one problem.I have not altered the system in any way, such as those described in earlier reviews. It has been hooked up to my big-screen TV, my playstation and playstation 2, my DVD player, tape deck, and CD player.Never once have I noticed a problem.Maybe I have just gotten lucky, but for my money I couldn't have purchased a better receiver. It has everything I could need.

4-0 out of 5 stars My Thoughts
For all the rest of the unsatisfied people writing reviews with complaints. My experience with all receivers Ive had (many) is to give them proper ventilation and dont put anything on top of them. What I mean by proper ventilation is explained in the owners manual. This receiver does not cost enough to warrant such protest like the ones Ive read. You get what you pay for. For anybody considering the Technics sa-dx930 go ahead I will back it, mainly because of the cooling fan that comes on when you turn up the volume. The sound quality is great for this price point too! My favorite and main receiver is the Sa-ax7 (Technics) with the VGCA amplifier. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fine Dolby Digital Receiver
The STR-DE1075 is an excellent receiver. It packs a considerable punch for the money. One glance at the connection panel at the rear will confirm that you can pretty much hook up anything with it.3-0 out of 5 stars Sony STR-DE 1075 is Good But ..
The Sony STR 1075 has 6.1 and a host of other features. But, many movies and DVDs are not even in 5.1.The receiver has excellent connectivity options, and automated detection of type of signal. The electronics are sound. For a sophisticated electronic device, I find the user manual very weak.It barely covers the basics, and is not well written. Also, Sony has the idea that crowding the remote with buttons is good. It's not. Many of the buttons are set-up related and should be under a flip-top, not comingled with all the "every day" buttons. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars disregard review below
I actually don't own this but I have read many reviews of many receivers.jvc receivers are decent receivers although they don't have as much power as some more expensive receivers(harman kardon, marantz)so if you need to play loud in a largeish room you might consider getting a HK,marantz, nad etc.Ignore the review below-if your tv doesn't have an s-vid input you would just use the rca vid input(duh!)or antenna input using a switcher that you could buy at crutchfield, ebay,or avtoolbox-most tv's have an rca vid input and most receivers have rca vid in and outs.As of this moment most receivers don't have upconverting so this is not a reason to give the jvc 2 stars. The jvc does have cc conversion which should make 2ch listening to cd's better--the jvc receivers probably work better in a smaller room,or if you are not going to play to loud-also jvc receivers may work better with smaller speakers or speakers rated 8-16 ohms since the power drops to about 30w(according to reviews)when using all five channels.Once agin if you need more power try hk,marantz, nad etc.

2-0 out of 5 stars Uh-oh no video conversion (composite to s-video/component)
i got this receiver a few weeks ago and hooked it up with no problems.unfortunately, i did not have long enough composite cables to hook up my vcr's.when i got the cables i found out that the receiver will not allow the vcr's video signal to be displayed through the s-video connection to the tv.in fact, all the video in signals have to use the same type of connection for the receiver to send the signal to the tv.this means that if i had a component video capable tv and an s-video only dvd player, i would not be able to view the video from the dvd player.i called JVC and was told that none of their receivers have video conversion.considering that i own a $20 switch that is able to perform this function (plays composite video through s-video connection), it is unacceptable that all of JVC's receivers are unable.
