5-0 out of 5 stars Great receiver, no problems
My wife and I have 2 of these receivers. One for each of us.I have had mine for a 1 1/2 years, and my wife has had hers for a year.Neither of us have had any problems with the units losing signal even after constantly moving them between vehicles, work, and home docking stations. The sound quality is very good and the oversized displays makes them very easy to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thing is built like a Tank!
I have had this receiver almost a year and have dropped it three times on pavement and it still works! The other day it slipped out and the top actually split open, and then I heard something rattling inside. I thought for sure it would never work again but it does with no problems. I have not even replaced the remote batteries yet!
5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great
I bought this unit almost a year ago now and haven't had any troubles with it. If it gets really hot the screen can get a little hard to read but is very sturdy to others I have seen more recently. I like that there are 3 bands with 10 stations each. Fairly user friendly. I really like it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Sirius Radio-To-Go
The XACT Power Pod is not the most sophisticated and sleek piece of technology you will ever own, but it does the job of letting you take your Sirius receiver away from your home/car. I brought mine to Florida on my last vacation. I was able to bring my radio out onto the beach and listen to Radio Margaritaville for about 3 hours on a charge (needed to connect a pair of powered speakers of course). Just enough time to get a nice sunburn. I have recently purchased the boombox for the XACT so the pod will probably be collecting dust in my closet.
4-0 out of 5 stars Works great for me :)
I live in New York City and I was a little hesitant about buying XS028 Satellite Radio Power Pod Portable Battery Pack. I was pleasantly surprised with the reception. I use in on the bus and in my office. My office is not near any windows and the reception is very good. I do wish that the battery charge would last a little longer than 3 hours. Overall I am very pleased with this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat useless, but the best game in town
I wanted a Sirius unit that would allow me to listen on my way to work.I take a short trolley ride from my apartment in Philadelphia to a train station, and then a 30-minute train ride to work in the suburbs. Therefore, I needed a portable unit.My options as of today were this unit (for the XTR1 receiver) or the XS043 for the Xact Rego. The XS043 is unacceptable because the antena is built into custom headphones, meaning I'd be forced to use their rather bulky-looking headphones instead of my own, and I've yet to own a pair of headphones that lasted longer then 3-4 months.

1-0 out of 5 stars Useless paperweight
Worst audio product I've ever purchased. Can't even use the RADIO without terrible interference & static. Any audio input run through this piece of junk comes out the other side muffled & popping.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the price!
I picked up a refurbished unit, it was supposed to have been new with a damaged box.It had the front display panel protector peeled, and the cable box number cut and taped to the manual. This indicated to me it was a return i.e. refurb instead of new damaged box.
5-0 out of 5 stars A great deal!Works and sounds Great! Built like a tank!
I love this unit. It's classic Motorola.Very well built (read: big). The only complaints I have are regarding the front panel:The labels are hard to see, and the layout is quirky. It sounds great and was easy to set up.It probably was overpriced at $899, but at under $200, it's a steal.

An incredible value, Aiwa's AV-D58 brings in Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround decoding, multiple digital-audio inputs, simulated surround processing, and an impressive 80 watts per channel for well under the $300 floor that used to be the norm for such features. 1-0 out of 5 stars Save up for something a little better
I know it's tempting and to be honest it hasn't broken or anything but . . .
1-0 out of 5 stars Died after two years
The power supply died after less than two years of mild use. Now I have to trash it? The sound was so-so, with a high pitch all the time. Good for begginers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Go Awia!!!
I bought this receiver mainly because of the Super T-Bass System because I didn't have the money for a Subwoofer at the time. Boy was I impressed!!! Not only is the T-Bass awsome but the Dolby Digital, DTS, and DSP surround sound sounds really awsome. The only complaints I have is the unit is supposed to have 5.1 analog inputs like others wrote about but it doesn't. The other complaint is if you turn the volume up past 39 it cuts the bass half way off, since I don't own a sub this is a nusance. But most the time 80watts x5 is enough power for me. I have now had this Receiver for 2 years and have not had any problems with it. For [the money] the Aiwa AV-D58 is a great buy!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I worked on this product, I voice the character of "madison".Any company that is willing wo work with new, young talent gets an A+ in my book. And, while we were reading the scripts, a lot of teh math that I was teaching, i didn't actually understand, since it was a cold read. The writing was so good that even without having heard the terms before or having the benefit of the visuals that come with the program, i learned the math.in fact, one of the concepts was introduced in my math class about a month later, and I already understood it all and eventually aced the test, just from two hours of work on that particular lesson.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely useless
I bought this item to help my middle school child improve in algebra mainly. The math portion of this software is a joke. One the cover it boasts 'Over 2000 exercises!!!!'Unless you consider it an exercise for some cartoon to talk AT you I didn't see one.

Editorial Review

Designed specifically to power the ButtKicker LFE and Concert--the "silent subwoofers" that simulate the feeling of heavy bass through your furniture without the excessive volume--the BKA1000-4 amplifier offers an easy and affordable way to install the shakers. Simply connect one end of an RCA cable to your processor's subwoofer out and the other into the amp, and then run 12-gauge speaker wire from the amp to the ButtKicker. That's all there is to it, with no preamp required. The amp is powerful enough at 2,100 watts into 2 ohms to run as many as four ButtKicker LFEs used in individual home theater seats, or two units wired in parallel (1,050 watts x 2). The multi-unit setup also makes the BKA 1000-4 more cost effective than other solutions, as listeners don't need to power each ButtKicker separately. And because it's 120 to 240 volts (switchable), the amp works in countries around the world.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Value, convenience, performance
This was purchased to replace a much more costly Harman Kardon 5.1 receiver, which I found had a weak FM tuner and difficult to configure surround settings. The Sony has been a pleasant surprise; good FM, more than adequate power and the 7.1 surround is quite and improvement over the 5.1.The remote is even user friendly (though I use a Sony touch screen universal).I think it may have a slightly edgy sound (compared to the H-K); but I'm always looking for flaws because of the low price!
2-0 out of 5 stars Sony Slips
The price looked right, but as others have mentioned this receiver has:
4-0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done nicely
If you need to drive your 7.1 surround speakers, this SONY does a nice job. It is not the best out there, but it may very well be the best one for the money. All video sources are "upconverted" to S-VIDEO to send them all to your TV with one cable. It took a little while to figure out which surround modes sounded best and how to seperatly adjust the volume on the surrounds, but it does great when properly tweeked. The ProLogic-II modes do great on movies and games. This is a great value, but the universal remote dose not work all my gear. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Designed to give consumers full control over their home entertainment experience, the Pioneer VSX-D514-S 5.1-channel digital A/V receiver is a great fit for the discriminating movie and music fan. The receiver, which powers five channels at 100 watts each, is equipped with Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic II surround processing, giving DVDs a rich, full-bodied sound through a multichannel speaker system. Dolby Digital and DTS decoding technologies split the audio signals among four left and right surround speakers, a center speaker, and a subwoofer, while Pro Logic II converts two-channel stereo sources into five-channel surround sound. On surround encoded material such as movie soundtracks, the resulting audio is powerful and explosive, while with two-channel encoded material such as music CDs, the effect is a wider and more encompassing sound field with more localized vocals.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Sounds fine, easy to use, limited expansion
I've used this receiver for a year, during which time I've had nothing to complain about. It's a respectable buy in its price range, sounds quite good, and is not overly complex. I've just replaced it as my primary receiver, though, because it doesn't have enough digital inputs to handle a variety of sources. To manage the optical inputs from my TV, DVD recorder, Macintosh computer, cable box, and CD recorder, I was required to buy a switching device from Radio Shack. Now my new receiver has enough inputs to manage the load, as well as vastly more power and features. The 514 has only one optical and two coax inputs.
