4-0 out of 5 stars Great but not the best
I purchased this mp3 player to replace my old broken coby mp3. It's very easy to use. It does NOT play wma files. It only plays mp3's but the quality of the player is great. The earphones that come with it are horrible so I suggest purchasing a new set of earphones. The functions work properly and it's worth purchasing for under $30.

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with Windows Media Player
This player doesn't work with Windows Media Player. This player works by dragging files in Windows Explorer so any protected content WMAs will only cause a format error. If you are only playing songs you took off your own CDs then this player should work fine, but if you have any music you've downloaded from a Napster type service then you are out of luck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Receiver!
I got this receiver about a month ago so I have had time use and provide an honest review.
4-0 out of 5 stars Unit Broken..Power Shuts Itself Off After Only a few Minutes
The sound is excellent. It even looks great. I almost returned it when the optical outputs had only one working. I didn't (in all fairness) read the book. After all, I've hooked up many receivers over the years. Only one was working by default. Once I got the other one working, it worked beautifully. Also, I have it hooked up with HDMI from OPPO 971 to Samsung LCD and a box set of Harman Kardon HKTS 14's w/ 12" sub and all of it running through a Monster Power 3500 Mk2. Sound is clean and I like the fact that with the onscreen menus, you can further customize setup...this was great after I learned it existed.
5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding receiver that doubles as a space heater
The first "good" receiver I bought was an HK - it lasted many years and was followed by some "other manufacturers" receivers that never lasted as long. So I took the plunge to buy this (at a fantastic price on Amazon).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bang for the Buck
I'm pretty happy with my DG500.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Receiver, With Some Minor Annoyances
I purchased the Sony STR-DG500 6.1 receiver as a replacement for a five year old Sony STR-SE501 5.1 receiver. The SE501 was purchased as part of a home theater in a box system and was in need of a repair. As is the case today with much electronic equipment that needs to go to the repair shop, paying a relatively small additional amount for the purchase of a new receiver seemed to be a more attractive alternative than paying the cost of repair for the old receiver and being without any receiver at all for several weeks while the repair was accomplished.I purchased my DG500 at Circuit City. The new receiver, which was on sale and with an additional CC mail in rebate, cost $160 plus state sales tax.
3-0 out of 5 stars Beware of video input/output limitations
I thought this was the answer to my AV woes... but it was not.

1-0 out of 5 stars It broke after 3 months
I bought this receiver in May 2006 (made in China....).
5-0 out of 5 stars Good budget receiver
The Teac AG-790A is a great budget receiver. It being used in my office, attach to 4 ceiling speakers. The sound is decent for the office use.The loud button increase the bass response in low volume. The binding post allows for banana plugs, so it's easy to connect to the speakers.I also hooked another set of Polk Audio M30 speakers. There's a speaker A and B switch. So now I can also enjoy music in my private office too.Overall, it's a good bang for the bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stereo receiver at a low price.
This is my first Teac unit ever, and it replaced a vintage Pioneer receiver that granted me twenty-eight years of faithful service.I am quite pleased with this "old-fashioned" two channel receiver. It sounds great, is solid-feeling, and is easy to operate.Although I was somewhat wary to purchase a unit without the many "turning knobs" an old codger like me is accustomed to, the push-buttons on this model are easy to use and find even in the dark.I'm pleased to have a receiver with a remote and a sleep timer function.I doubt that this Teac (or any new-fangled receiver) will offer me twenty-eight years of service but I don't plan to be around that long anyway. ... A favorite of audiophiles everywhere, the AudioSource Amp 100 two-channel power amplifier is built to deliver powerful music, pure and simple, with few extra controls to get in the way. Listeners can use the Amp 100 as an independent stereo amp (50 watts x 2 into 8 ohms) when used with a preamp, as a second zone amplifier in multi-room applications, or as a rear-channel amplifier in a 6.1- and 7.1-channel system. Combine the Amp 100 with an additional monoblock amp (the Amp 100 delivers 150 watts RMS of bridged power) and a preamp and listeners can independently drive two front left/right speakers or two rear speakers, further clarifying each channel to create dynamic, high-end sound. To connect additional components to the amp, use the included stereo inputs with automatic priority override (for connecting to a source such as a receiver, CD player, or preamplifier) or the auxiliary output for creating a multi-amp setup.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for retail space
I bought this item to use as a reciever to go with my XM satellite in a small retail space. It works exactly as I needed it to

5-0 out of 5 stars Genius Product
The reason I bought this amp was similar to another customer - I wanted something to use with my iPod so I could hook up speakers of my choosing. I didn't want/need a big-bucks home theater receiver with all the gizmos. The amp works a treat, it is solidly built and very low profile - fits in a small cabinet. Interestingly enough, I had the exact same problem with the amp switching - you actually hear it switch over if you have any silent phases in a song playing on the iPod.....was bugging me till I read the other customer's review....simply changed the input from Line 1 to Line 2 - works a treat now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid product!
I had the reported switching problem ("UPDATE: This device has one annoying defect ... a "clever" feature of switching inputs automatically when it senses no input on one of the two stereo inputs ... any stretch of silence will cause it to switch"). I called AudioSource and I have to give them credit. The problem is relatively easy to solve by using Input 2 instead of Input 1 if you're only using one input. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not great
I would not recommend this unit. The reception is very poor. I am using it in an 06 car, so the electronics are up to date. I would say it picks up distortion free maybe 20 percent of the time. I had a XM Commander in my previous vehicle, it was great. I think I will get another for my current car.

1-0 out of 5 stars Drops Signal/Poor Customer Service from XM
We had this radio for about 6 months, when it completely quit working.During the 6 months the reception would go in and out, until finally the radio wasn't transmitting anything. To troubleshoot, we tried the Pioneer satellite radio that my husband has, and it works great in my car. So, I know it was not my car radio receiver or antenna that was the problem.Getting XM to help us with this was like pulling teeth! We originally contacted Delphi, and they told us to call XM.We kept getting the run around from XM for over one month, until they finally told us we needed to call Delphi for warranty refund! A big circular mess...Our opinion is to spend the extra money and get the Pioneer radio.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Receiver, East to Install
I've had a SkyFi receiver in my home for over two years now, and am addicted to Satellite Radio -- it's all I listen to now. When we leased a Lexus RX 330 that did not have Satellite radio pre-installed, we purchased this receiver and car kit for it.Initially, I was concerned about trying to install the antenna on the roof of the car (the instructions that come with the kit are necessarily vague concerning how to install the antenna on the car roof, because each car is different).I did not know if I could do it myself, or if I would have to pay a professional to install it.Well, I decided to try putting the antenna inside the car, on the dashboard, rather than trying the more complicated roof-top installation, to see if it worked.I placed the antenna on the dash as far forward as possible, and stuck it in place with a little museum wax.I hid the antenna wire easily in the seam between the dash and the side of the car, and then strung the wire below the driver's side floor mat.It works great!Every now and then, the signal drops off when you make a turn or go under a bridge, but it's only momentary and no different than the drop off I got on regular radio.Indeed, it does not seem to happen any more frequently than in my other car, that had XM pre-installed with a roof antenna. The receiver plays through the tape deck in the car, and the reception is strong and crystal clear digital.(One of the other reviewers complains of poor reception when played over the FM radio -- that is only necessary if you don't have a tape deck, and I haven't tried the FM broadcast signal myself.)All in all, we're very pleased by this receiver and car kit, and wouldn't know what we'd do without it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Sirius Satellite Radio:Sportster Replay
I love it.Never thought I'd enjoy Satellite Radio so much.My girlfriend has a factory installed system in her Jeep and would rather take my car with the Sportster receiver.Service was great.Received the packages very fast and in plenty of time for our beach vacation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sirius is making radio fun again
I don't ever recall a time in which I was so excited about radio.I'm way too young to have experienced the golden age of radio, but the excitement of satellite radio brings images to mind of a time in which radio was something exciting, something to talk about. This is the new golden age of radio.
2-0 out of 5 stars Won't last - amazing this day and age
I bought my Sportster in December 2005.Here I am 8 months later to tell you that the display light doesn't stay on and flickers.I'm amazed that any electronic component today would have such a short life.It is hot here in Texas, but I rarely leave the power on when I'm out of the car.And when I do, its during short pop in visits to eat or grab groceries.I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the contrast was getting bad, making it very hard to read the display. Now with regularity, the light goes out which makes it impossible to see the display in the bright sun, or darkness at night.I'm getting a replacement, but do not expect it to last more than the first one.The Sirius service is excellent, and I highly recommend it and the type of pause and record features that are built into this radio. The next generation Sportster is out and looks great and also improves on the one thing I didn't like about this model. On the new one, you can program an artist and get the notification beep for any of their songs, not just the specific titles you save on this model. If this model goes out again, I will likely get into the new model and hope for better reliability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Slick, Compact, and easy to install - A good buy for sure
I recently upgraded my 5.1 THX Home Theater system, and chose this receiver to replace an old Kenwood KC-X1 Receiver and it's companion (seperate) amplifier (2 big, bulky mothers).
5-0 out of 5 stars Great receiver!
Wasn't quite sure about purchasing this receiver because of some of thereviews I had read. I think alot of the negative reviews on here come from people who don't know how to read or follow an instruction manual. As for the HDMI issue which many have complained about, there are work around solutions for the sound (fiber optic or coaxial cable) and the reassign function. So you have to buy an extra cable, yeah it sucks but we are talking about a $400 receiver here, not some $800 Denon or Onkyo. I can deal with that. Once you get to reading the manual you'll find that this receiver can do quite a bit. I've got it runing in 5.1 right now with polk monitor 50s,cs1, 30s and psw10 sub.,it sounds wicked! Hope to pick up another set of 30s to take advantage of the 7.1 but for now I am completely satisfied with my purchase! Expecially for the $279. price I payed with the free super saver shipping. You cant go wrong.

1-0 out of 5 stars over complicated piece of junk!!
HDMI??????? 7.1???????I have just spent the better part of 3 hours working on this POS and I'm no better off now then when it was in the box. This is not true HDMI when you need additional cabling just to get volume. I thought I'd give Sony the benefit of another try. Not again! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars xm ready means you have to buy a rcvr and dock
I just got this. bought it when it was still being sold direct by amazon. it's a nice unit for the money.
4-0 out of 5 stars Looks cool
I have not yet gotten this unit, but am seriously considering it seeing as how Amazon gives you $40 off the retail price. My only gripes from looking at it are that the silver does not look nearly as cool as the black model that most other places sell, and the fact that there are NO s-video inputs on the back. This is going to frustrate me, seeing as how lots of my stuff uses S-video. Anyone actually use this with video hooked up? how does it look?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Receiver!
I replaced a fried Sony Home theater-in-a-box (that I had won two years ago) with this Receiver. Before that I had owned a Pioneer Receiver for about 8 years, and a Fisher unit before then. This Yamaha is by far my favorite! It's got lots of power and lots of great features, and great flexibility for hooking up your speakers and components. I would buy this item again, and recommend it for anyone looking to get some great sound at a great price for your Home Theater! ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Home theater may be the rage, but there's no getting around the need for affordable, high-quality music playback, and Sony's STR-DE197 stereo receiver can be a huge help in that department. The integrated amplifier pumps out 100 watts per channel across both its 2 channels and uses discrete output transistors--that is, transistors in place of cheaper and lower-quality integrated-circuit chips--to ensure high-quality music presentations.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor FM stereo
The first unit couldn't even find FM stereo stations. It had similar FM specs as the Sony ST_JX410 AM/FM Tuner it was replacing. It was returned as a faulty unit. The replacement STRDE 197 was able to find stereo FM stations which played fine in monoral but were noisy in stereo. My 25 year old JX410 tuner did an excellent job on FM stereo stations. The second unit was returned for a refund. Sony's quality isn't what it use to be. I bought an Onkyo TX-SR304. The FM works fine with more features & expandability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Only one thing missing.....
Sound is good, controls are good, easy to hook up.I have been an avid Pioneer Audio user, but I'm getting over it now, since Pioneer products seem to be getting more and more shabby. The only thing I would add to the Sony STRDE197 is the ability to scan stations with the remote control. You can't tune with the remote unless you have stations preset. Not a big deal, but it would be handy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Use your head
Some of the complaints concerning this item are valid, but it is clear to me that others did not do their research!

5-0 out of 5 stars reality check
To the reviewer who insisted H/K is better quality.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
Sony is not one of the best electronic products, it is the best!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Receiver, but useless manual
I purchased this receiver 3 days ago, and finally have it set up tonight. For the price, it is an excellent value, and seems to be fairly user friendly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Performance - Excellent Price - Free Shipping
To start off with, as an Alaska resident the free shipping was a deal maker for me. That said, I've had no problems with the receiver itself, save for a small scratch on the faceplate. Super-Saver has its detriments I suppose.
5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome reciever.
Don't listen to that guy in the other thread, this reciever is definetely worth the extra money.Just having MCACC alone is worth it, saving hours of set up time by calibrating the speaker size, distance, delay, eq settings among other things.Think of it as having a bose system but for 1/5 the price.Plus you've got an on screen display which is immensly helpful because it is a lot easier to see on your tv and you can guage where you are in the myarid of features
