How Did This Ever Get Approved???
Normally I review STRICTLY books...but this product annoyed me so much, I had to review it. I took this scanner to the Martinsville race this past weekend and was VERY disappointed. I was under the impression the headset was attached to the scanner, but instead you get a cheap pair of headphones that are inserted into your ears, and the earmuffs go over them to muffle the noise.
good looks, little performance
I love the look of the Dale Jr. scanner and headset.I hate the scanner itself.I took the scanner to the Bristol Race last weekend.I could not pick up the local race frequency.I could only tune in to a few drivers.Most of all, general reception was horrible.This item should have never been sponsored by NASCAR or their drivers.You can get a great scanner, with great reception at radioshack for $99.99.NASCAR should have just sold the headsets, without the scanner.

I got this radio for Christmas, it's great.
Controls
Overall, this is a great radio. Picks up many stations on AM and FM. Plenty of volume and clear sound from the small speaker. Shortwave reception also picks up several stations. Remember, this is an inexpensive little radio for the features. The main issue I have is the volume and tuning controls. There is too much play in the tuning control snd it is difficult to turn. The volume control seems to move several degrees with no sound and then in a short distance it really comes on strong. Stereo reception with quality headsets is very good. ... Read more

Weather MonitorReview
We bought this weather-alert monitor for a 2-week road trip in case of bad weather. During our return trip home, we ran into about 4 storms all around us with tornado warnings to our south, severe storm warnings with large hail to our north, severe storms east and west of us, but not where we were driving. We kept the monitor on stand-by status. It alerted us automatically of severe warnings IN THE COUNTY WHERE WE WERE as we traveled.
A life saver - definitely a must have, especially if tornadoes are common in your area
I bought this item after the tornados hit Indiana in the middle of the night and did so much devastation.It's been a life saver.The key is to get the S.A.M.E. codes for your specific area to narrow down the number of alerts.After that, turn it on and forget it...it will let you know of tornados, storms, and any other bad weather in the area.More than once it's awaken us in the middle of the night to a tornado warning, that we wouldn't have known about because later we learned the town's warning siren wasn't working right.The only down side of this item is that the instructions could be a bit more specific.They're not exactly explicit when it comes to programming the date and year or with entering the S.A.M.E. codes, but it's not so difficult that you can't figure it out.I recommend going on line to find your codes and any neighboring counties you may be interested.Definitely a must have for every family - provides peace of mind like never before! ...
