Warning range is good enough
This is my second detector. Range is good. Works very well on highways.
Nice little Cobra Radar
The only think i can say after purchasing this radar is that it is a nice little radar that really works on both interstate and city limits. Some of my friends have even borrowed this radar from me when they had to go to a different state, and i got a very good feedback from them.
Saved my butt already
This morning on Rt. 80 in Jersey, I was unknowingly going about 75 and the XRS-9930 went bonkers. State Police came up quickly from behind. I saw him approach and signaled and moved over to let him by. He pulled along side my Triumph Rocket III and just made his presents noticed and went by quickly to a speeding cager going about 90 and pulled him. It is just a real good unit to keep me aware and alert of oncoming emergency vehicles. I don't like to speed but on the Rocket, I certainly need not to ignor the speed limit but often don't stare at the speedo because I need to keep my eyes on the road ahead. Great Deal
I bought this radar/laser detector and I do not regret buying it! It is a wonderful companion on the highway!

Cool gadget !
I used to get pulled over quite frequently and spent a ton of money just to pay those pesky speeding tickets, but since a friend of mine recomended me the Whistler 1753 Laser-Radar detector I haven't been ticketed once because it has a good range and alerts on time enough to speed down. If you travel frequently on the highways I really recomended because it will save you a couple of tickets and already should pay off for the machine. And it works in Mexico too!.

Great Radar Detector for the price
I've only used this for a long trip and some city driving. Have been very impressed that I almost always was alerted before actually seeing the radar toting cop. The only time I could see him was on a very clear day going down a very long slope, probably from a mile out. Pros: great reception and easily readable graphics. Cons: N/A ... Read more

BEWARE Vehicle Battery Saver is NOT Selectable, the description is not correct
Overall this seems like a nice Radar Detector for the price, but the Vehicle Battery Saver is NOT Selectable and is always on, which means if you drive for 3 hours or more it sounds an alarm.By sounding an alarm you will automatically hit the brakes thinking its an alert, but it is not.After sounding the alarm, it then turns itself off.You then have to manually turn it back on.This is very annoying. Only buy this only if you drive less than 3 hours.The description for this product is not correct.On the WHISTLER PRO-73, the Vehicle Battery Saver is Selectable, whcih is the same product except with text.

not bad for the money
the pro-58 seems to be a great detector on the highway as it is stronger on picking up laser and pop radar than any other model in it's price range.the previous reviewer may need to check the specs on his windshield to see if it has an instaclear coating that will dramatically weaken the detection (i had an eclipse that i couldn't even use a detector in).also location of mounting is crucial with this detector.the best spot is just under the rearview mirror, however, that is an inconvenient location due to the wiring hanging all over the car.the best location i've found for this detector is about 5 inches up from the windshield wipers.this allows longer range detection and allows the cord to drape inconspicuously over the dashboard.never ever ever mount the thing on the dashboard...you might as well put it in your glove compartment.hope this helps those who have bought this device.IT DOES WORK!

Just to make it simple, the internal clip that attachs the product to the metal holder (and then to the windshield), went loose after 2 days of use.Probably it has a plastic clip inside while the windield piece is metal.

Good Detector
I've used this detector for about a year and have no complaints.
Cobra is a bust!
Problem with this product is that you can't quite figure out what all the signals are.The manual tells you about the frequency, but doesn't tell you exactly how to detect the radar guns.Of the thousands of signals I've heard, I've only driven by 2 cop cars.And I've driven by a couple cops with no signal. ... Not very useful...
My wife bought this thing for my birthday. I like the display and the compass (It needs to be recaliberated every once in a while to be accurate) and the voice alerts. Hardly impressed by the radar detection, which of course, is what it's supposed to do. Drove right through a speed trap without a beep from this thing. The promised 360 degree protection is baloney. I have figured out that the radar or the cop car has to be straight ahead for this thing to work. It does beep on almost every automatic door opener I am close to. It is suppsed to alert me of emergency vehicles as well, but it didnt when i was close enough to one. Bad buy and now I am having problems returning it. ... Read more

Excellent Deal
This was a great deal. No hazzle and the product was shipped in no time.

Great buy for the money!!
I stopped keeping track after this radar detector paid for itself four times over by alerting me of traffic cops hidden late at night.I would absolutely have stopped for speeding every single time.I've gotten one ticket since then by a cop who SAID he tagged me with a laser, but I think he was lying since the detector didn't go off, and it alerted me of a laser radar in the past. It does go off a lot when there isn't a police radar around, but not for very long. To me that is a minor inconvenience.I just don't turn it up so lound that it drives me crazy. I can't say how it stacks up against more expensive products, but since it's saved me more than $600 in tickets, I'd say it is a very worthwhile investment.

I received a Cobra XRS 9300 rader detector for Christmas and was disapointed to learn that something in my car generates a constant Ka band signal of varying strength.

Lousy detector bugged by wireless communication issues
I have bought this detector one week ago. Upon installlation I was unable to get the antenna and the unit to see each other with the motor running. Still there are certain moments when i can get them to see each other, that is when the engine is off. But you can't get much speed with the engine off unfortunately so I went asking the local Whistler dealer to see if i got a faulty antenna unit. They advised me to return the unit as they had numerous problems with this type of unit and get a 3450.

Great concept, but doesn't work well
I have used Whistler radar detectors for many years and have them on all of my vehicles. This model, which is wireless, was very attractive because of the ease of installation. Unfortunately, the unit mounted under the hood and the display on the interior of the car do not talk to each other well and you are plaqued with messages and beeps saying they are not communication. After having spoken to Manfacturer technical people and doing what they suggested, I have returned the unit for a new one hoping I just got a bad one.

It sure keeps on working
I had mine about 5 years (approximately) and I keep it at the dashboard--exposed to very hot weather in summer, and quite cold in the winter. It's still working just fine! It may not be as sensitive as the more expensive brands, but it saved me on several occasions--you know where the speed limit is 25 mph and you go by accident 35 miles per hour, and that's VERY easy to do! Those areas where the speed limit is very low--That's when you are most likely going to get a ticket--let's face it, it's easy pickings for the cops. So it did pay for itself.
Great Buy!!!!
I have had this radar detector for some time now. And believe me it has paid for itself more times i would like to remember. Now you have to remember you are buying a 40 dollar radar detector. you are still going to have it go off at a store or maybe with another detector. I have never been disapointed with this detector. The VG-2 cloking feature is nice. it allows you to run the radar where you are not legally allowed. it will shut off the power to the detector for 30 sec. and then turn back on. But again this is a 40 dollar radar detector you will get false alarms and sometime not pick up on the radar but you have to be smart when using the detector and your right foot. To sum up the product, its a great buy with great features and last a very long time, works way better than any other sub-75 dollar detector.

Great little radio for family ski trip
I purchased two pairs of Cobra PR 3000 GMRS 2 watt radios for our ski trip this year. It's one of the best purchases I ever made. I looked at Motorola and Midland before purchasing these. They have more power than Motorola and better built than Midland. I like that most of the buttons are on the face and you don't have to do a lot of menu browsing. We skied at Alta and Snowbird Utah. The ability to talk over the slopes really amazed me. We tried them out in our neighborhood and they worked pretty well. We could converse for a half mile with no trouble at all through trees and houses. However if you go behind a hill the ability to converse is greatly reduced. At Alta Snowbird you are in a canyon with granite walls, so I think the signal is bouncing off the canyon walls, becuase we could talk for miles, even with ridges between us. At the frequencies and power levels of these radios you should get great reception if you are in line of sight without too many obstructions. But don't expect to go much over a half mile if you have a lot of obstructions. If you are true line of sight with no obstructions, you can go further than the 5 miles advertised. In a granite canyon like little cottonwood canyon they were great! We were in a group of 8 skiers and it was snowing hard and difficult to stay together. My 12 year old daughter got separated from us and called in to let us know where she was. It saved hours of anxiety for us and kept us from ruining our ski day. Same thing happened the next day with my 11 year old daughter. As far as I'm concerned it was well worth the price.
