5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing TV
I finally decided to jump on the HDTV bandwagon after countless years justifying the SDTV with "how much better could it really be...it's just TV."However, after having this set for a week I am AMAZED!The picture quality is outstanding and the viewing angles are great (not like the old projection screens). The number of connections you can make to this television equates to basically 2 of everything (think Noah's Ark for geeks). In fact the only problem (if you could call it that) are the built in speakers which are acceptable for normal TV watcing in semi quiet environments but I have it hooked up to my Onkyo receiver for watching movies or sports.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!Can't go wrong with this one
Well, I could write a bunch of stuff here... but, the last reviewer pretty much nailed it.Great set, great value. Now that the TV has dropped another $50 since I bought it, it's an even better deal. The set alone with free shipping and no tax is $450 less than the local retailers around here.So you can easily afford an extended warranty, indoor antenna and probably even an "up-convert" DVD player... or even an XBOX 360.My fear after ordering this 50" and going back to the stores and seeing the 56" and 61" models was that I should have bought a bigger one.Nope, the 50" is huge... at least in my living room it is.Great set!Buy it!Amazon has the lowest price.Free shipping got it to my area in a week.It got to my local airport on Friday morning. However, due to contract drivers only going to certain areas on certain days, it was going to sit there until Wednesday. No way did I want to have it sit there all weekend a me miss all the football and baseball games! So I called and they said I could come pick it up, and I did.Shipping company was very good, helped me get it loaded up, strapped down.Very light to get it in the house too.Anyway, the TV rocks.Get one for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Result of 5 months of careful research
First, let me say that I am not in a place in life where I feel the need to justify a purchase and subsequent expenditure to the world at large via a review. If I felt I have made a mistake of sorts, I would warn other technical soujourners to heed my call and avoid the jagged rocks that ended my High-Def exploration. That being said, this Samsung will blow you away.I spent at least 5 months going between technologies..Plasma-vs.LCD-vs. LCD projection-vs.DLP.When I saw this set in the 60" at Best Buy I was impressed..but not over Plasma. But using a HD Tv for movies and Xbox primarily...I went with DLP for the 'no-fear' factor of burn-in issues, color and longevity. Looking at Plasma sets change pictures...I could see 'ghost' images left over from the second before..and LCD screen-door effects are noticable to me. I don't get it...I have always been hyper-alert to details and just KNEW I would be the type that would 'see' things that others can live with...but will drive me slowly insane over time..leaving me rocking and mumbling alone on the florr with my medications in years to come. Anyway...I liked the fact the the only thing that will decay on a DLP is the bulb...and once replaced, the set is a good as new year after year..as opposed to LCD and Plasma reality that things will dim over time...maybe a lot of time..but they will. Okay..High-def decisions made. Sweaty hands clutch the charge card and press in the numbers on line. Done. (PS..I compared prices between 30 storres across the USA. Amazon beat them all with no tax/no shipping. Many chains will SAY no shipping cost....but then just ask about getting a call to alert you your order is coming..and you have to upgrade your shipping...for another $200. Amazon offers TRUE no-cost shipping with white-glove service whichin means a courtesy call so you can meet the delivery at your home)

This TV is everything it claims to be. Plus, with Amazon's free shipping, it is the best deal you can find. It only took a week or so after shipping to get the TV. Out of the box, the picture is unbelievable. Samsung's DNIe option can be turned off, which is nice on some HD things. I have my PC hooked up can use the full 1920x1080 resolution. Although there are few direct sources for 1080p yet, it is a smart call to grab this TV now, as the PS3 will play BlueRay for a fraction of the price of the normal players (plus you get a supercomputing game system in the process!). Anyways, grab this TV now!

Ordered Samsung on 10/1 and rec'd it on 10/7. (expected delivery date given was 3rd week of October) As mentioned, the shipping service brought it in, unpacked and set it exactly where we asked them to. In short, the TV has performed superbly; HD is amazing for the price. I don't need to delve into technical talk b/c everyone has for the most part touched on how great the picture is. I was skeptical at first, but was I ever so wrong... ... Read more

I bought this TV with high expectation and I am still amazed by its quality.
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!
If you are in the market to buy a new HDTV....buy this Samsung! I don't even know where to start. But I have had my Samsung 61" for 2 days now and it is by far the BEST tv I have ever seen. The 61" is even bigger in my living room than it looks in the store showroom. Amazon's service was nothing short of Professional when handling my pre-order and getting my Samsung DLP delivered safely and quicker then estimated.
5-0 out of 5 stars Oh my heavens
Let me first start by saying this tv is an upgrade from my 13inch aiwa, I just bought a new condo and decided to get a good tv. And man is it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the price!
With so many tv's out there I think you have to start at your budget.Mine was $1200-$1400. How much can you spend? I guess the more you spend the better the tv, right?I read up on DLP, LCD and Plasma. All had strengths and weaknesses. So decide on what you want. DLP - the bulb may burn out after 2-3 years and cost $250 but you can replace it yourself. LCD - be careful with the screen and watch out for dead pixels.Plasma - burn spots if you play PS2 games. Now that you have the budget and type of tv sorted, which brand?Samsung, from my research, came out top. All the reviews showed they produce the most reliable and have the better picture quality. Now the size. The biggest you can for the budget you have and the type (DLP/LCD/Plasma). I picked the Samsung 46 inch DLP.I play PS2 games, so did not want to suffer burn spots. This was the largest for my budget of $1200. I ordered from Amazon and delivery was in 8 days (free shipping!). I had found cheaper places but they added shipping taking it over Amazons price.

Well let me start by saying I am not sure who these reviewers are that have reviewed this Samsung HL-S4666W, maybe they are paid by Samsung who knows.Well here is my nightmare of a story

4-0 out of 5 stars Samsung LCD LNS4692D
Cool looking TV when turned off. The HD channels are great but the regular channels are kind of grainy. Is this true with all big screen TV's, if someone could answer me that would be great. I don't know if a plasma will make the regular channels look less grainy. Any comments or suggestions please let me know!
4-0 out of 5 stars Very noticeable ghost images appearing
My parents just bought this TV in August. It was great during bright scenes, and sports looked great on ESPN HD and Over-the-AIR channels. However I noticed some ghosting during dark scenes. It is currently hooked up via HDMI (Monster Cable) to the DISH NETWORK ViP622 DVR receiver and Sony DVD Player (DVP-NS75H) via HDMI (Monster Cable). Ghosting showed up while watching the movie RV (during dark/night scenes) and watching movies on TNT HD, HDNET movies and other channels. The Technician came by today and quickly acknowledged the ghosting problem. He ordered a Video Processor? (not sure of exact part) and will install in about 10 days. I will post an update once the part is installed with the details of exactly what part was installed and if it fixed the problem. The picture still looks great, but the ghosting does become very annoying once you begin to notice it. I could find no other postings of anyone having this same problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine product
Beautiful set for the living room. It is very easy to clean with a cloth provided.Picture is great on HD and ok on SD channels over component.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding HDTV!!
It was time to update my 6 year old 52" Samsung Projection and break into HDTV...I knew I was going with Samsung again because of the pure satisfaction of my previous big screen, and DLP was the way to go fo me after much research.I've had this TV for 3 weeks now and could not be happier, it is everything I knew it was going to be and then some, and it is a very good looking TV as well.Amazon's price could not be beat and the delivery company Eagle was top notch(for free to boot)!!Great TV and the HD is awesome, I paired this TV with the Samsung Home Theater HT-Q80, and it is a match made in heaven, I'm able to run the DVDs through the second HDMI input and they look amazing!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Look no further, this is IT.
I've been watching and waiting for over 6 months before buying.I was certain I was going to get the Samsung DLP HDTV but which model I was unsure. After reading review after review I knew I wanted the option to turn off the DNIe feature. The HLS-5086w allows the option to turn it off if wanted and so I just recently purchased this TV.
5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC for FOOTBALL!
I cannot tell you how elated we are to have this television. We had just moved into our new home so my wife and I decided we would like to have a larger television for our new den. I did ALOT of research on the subject while we were trying to attempt a decision.

I, like some, was a bit cautious about ordering this big ticket item online. I must say, I would do it again without question. The delivery was quick and professional, and without issues.

First, I'd like to thank Amazon and Eagle for the super fast shipping. I know alot of people on here have given Eagle a bad wrap, but I must say that my experience has been nothing but positive. I ordered my tv on saturday, it shipped on monday, and I received it on friday. I must admit, though, I was initially worried because Amazon said that the shipment was going to take almost 4 weeks...thankfully, it didn't even take a week.
5-0 out of 5 stars awesome!
I did a lot of research on purchasing a bigscreen TV.I have wanted to get one for sometime, but was waiting for the price to come down some.I was comparing the Sony Wega and the Samsung models, both the 50 and 56 models.

I bought my 4266w from Amazon. The shipping took less then a week and that was without paying extra to get it fast. The product was carried into my house unboxed and placed from the shipping company. From 20 seconds after I turned it on the picutre was nothing short of awesome. This is true for SD and HD which is a feat in itself. Many HDTV's I have or see do a great job on HD but not so nice on SD.
4-0 out of 5 stars A very good deal for the money
I have been looking around for a large screen HDTV for a long time, this seemed to be the best deal I could get for its cost.
5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
AWESOME TV! Can't say how pleased I am with purchase! Awesome price from Amazon too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, but don't expect miracles with NTSC or even 480i digital feeds
Before you buy, think about the source of the material that you watch. If it is mostly NTSC video (analog TV), I wouldn't bother. If it is mostly digital cable (480i), I still wouldn't bother. If you mostly watch standard-def DVD's, will soon be watching HD DVD's/Blu-ray, or HDTV feeds, then I would say GO FOR IT.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY
Samsung is the WORST.We bought this TV in August and it was delivered in September to our new house. We opened it on a Sunday, plugged it in and watched it for a while, then on Monday it would not come on.They thought it was a lamp, but that didn't fix it so they came and got it to service it.We bought it for football season and football season is half over and we still have no TV.They decided to replace it since they couldn't fix it.That was three weeks ago.Now they are giving us the runaround blaming shipping/warehouse/etc for the delay in sending the new one.During a phone conversation with Samsung they basically said they were so far behind on shipping because they had so many to ship out (ie lots of them have problems and are being replaced is the way I took it.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Great tv,Great price
This tv has great picture quality especially in HD I see no pixel squares at all as someone has stated in another review, maybe its there cables. We did however have this tv for 2 weeks when the ballist went on it (no pic)which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 but Samsung sent out a tech right away and 3 days later we got our tv back working great.I truley believe for the price you can't go wrong with this one.As far as delivery worries the delivery men wait while you inspect it fully so you don't have to worry about Amazons no return policy.

2-0 out of 5 stars This television is too large.
I went from a Sony 42 inch 1080i to this Samsung 61 inch 720p.The 42 inch picture quality is much better. The 61 inch television is nice but I can clearly detect the square pixels even in high definition broadcasts.I believe the size and not the brand causes this.I wish I had not bought this television and I cannot return it since I bought it from Amazon.I will probably get used to it but my first impression is negative.

2-0 out of 5 stars Extra careful - Don't waste money.
I received the TV a week ago and I realized in about couple of hours my mistake.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great TV but BE CAREFUL
I have had this TV only for a week, so I think I am not ready for the full technical review of the TV itself. So far it is working great. However, I thought I should share my experience buying it so that someone else is aware of possible problem.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great TV
I've had this TV about 3 weeks and am really impressed. I'm having one issue with it, however. Watching a DVD - no problem, great sound and picture. Watching cable TV, though, I get a hum in the audio and a red and green horizontal line running from bottom to top in the picture. Sometimes, this is worse than at other times. After having the cable co. come out and talking to a Samsung rep, it seems that it is a grounding issue. I live in an old house that doesn't have grounded plugs. So, I will have to live with that until I can have my house rewired! Not the TV's fault, but something to consider if you live in an older house. The black cabinet is really beautiful and the on/off button at the bottom of the cabinet glows a neon blue when the set if off. So, it's cool looking off as well as on. Love the swivel cabinet, and the connections are easy to access. Football games are so great in HD and I can't wait until hockey season starts! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, but probably more TV than you need
I own this spendid TV and I have had it for a little over two weeks. I love it to pieces. I put it in a two story high very spacious family room with two stories of windows letting in bright light. As long as I am sitting down at an appropriate viewing angle it is always clearly visible with negligable screen glare even in the most bright sunlight. Anything less than full summer sunlight and the viewing angle becomes almost anywhere you can actually get line of sight on the TV.
    4-0 out of 5 stars Great television,BUT..........
So I spent countless hours researching every TV on the market. I finally decided on this TV when I was in Circuit City. While I was there I happened to bump into a technician that installs the TV's for C.C. and Best Buy. He told me that this TV was great, but after a couple of years you would notice a deterioration of the monitor quality(i.e. green streaks). He said to go to Best Buy and look at the display TVs that have been on the floor for more than 2000 hours. He recommended the Samsung HL-S5687W 56" 1080p DLP HDTV or a Pioneer Plasma(if I could afford it). Just ordered my Samsung yesterday from Amazon with the stand for $2183. Not a bad deal, although I will have to buy a new bulb every 5000 hours.
5-0 out of 5 stars All I can say is "WOW!"
This tv is fantastic. I returned a Sony 50" XBR1 because of "green blob" problems and bought a 60" A2000. The SD picture is very clear and the HD picture is amazing. The tv's tuner does a beautiful job. The only time I use my cable box is for scrambled channels. The remote controls every piece of AV equipment that I own so I can put all the others in a drawer. Right out of the box the picture looked great. I only made a few minor adjustments to obtain my personal preference. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great picture, poor design details
I love this TV's picture quality when it has a nice hi-def source.Simply awesome picture when viewing my local PBS station using my cable's non-HD signal.Amazing difference when viewing a stations SD source vs its HD source.Picture with an external antennae isn't bad.Sound is good.Price is really cheap compared to the competition.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Picture
I investigated TV's (Plasma vs LCD vs DLP),extensively before upgrading to HDTV. It paid off, because I couldn't be more happy. I'm still using a POS cable company, with the usual poor signal and no HD, but am getting an HD satillite next week. But even with the poor signal, the color is intense and the picture fantanstic. The "free shipping" though falls under the catagory of "You get what you pay for". It took a week to get it delivered, (two day lay over in Sacramento and a three day layover in Portland), and I had to hand truck the TV and the stand the 400 feet from the neighboring intersection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cable Card
This TV has a great picture, sound looks, you name it.However there is one problem with the cable card.I have had the cable company replace the cable card twice because it will not hold high difinition stations after several hours of use.Afterwards, I contacted the company where I bought the TV and they decided to replace it.Will see how the cable card works in the new one. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the price, but it has some glitches
First of all, you won't find a much better TV for the price that has the features this TV has.Out of the box it looked great.I had previously owned a 62" Toshiba DLP and a 60" Sony LCD TV, both of which I returned because I was not satisfied.Despite what others may say, this TV does better than the two TV's I just listed in relation to how regular TV looks. At 65" it does a great job of taking standard television and making it look good. The Toshiba did an okay job, which I attribute to the DLP chip and the Sony LCD was just plain horrible.Compared to the other two, this TV also is superior when it comes to the PIP and video functions. The Sony didn't even come with PIP and the Toshiba would frame the pictures with black bars which made the pictures smaller. This TV uses all of the available space for both pictures and you have options to reformat each picture so that one is larger than the other.Switching between pictures is a breeze.
5-0 out of 5 stars beautiful HDTV
paid 3k and feel its worth the price.have only had for 2 weeks, but the 720p and 1080i signal I receive at times via outdoor antenna looks absolutely awesome.no flaws to mention.it has a built in formating function that allows you to fit the picture you receive to the screen size.very adjustable with the settings(kelvin, 6 colors, etc...)

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful picture except for motion blur
Didn't buy this from Amazon, but wanted to post a review here just to inform those that are interested in this television. This was actually a replacement TV for a 3 1/2 yr. old Samsung that had a couple problems with the image processor, and the retailer decided to replace rather than repair under the extended warranty.
    5-0 out of 5 stars I never thought I'd buy a Sony...
...but after seeing this model in stores, I had to have it.
4-0 out of 5 stars A good performer at a good price with a few flaws
The Sony KDF-xxe2000 line of 3LCD rear projection HD televisions are the direct successors of last years A10 line. There have been small improvements to the TVs (specifically, a lower noticable red-color push out of the box), and the price is lower. In short, if you were impressed with the old Sony Wega 3LCD sets, you should like these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spectacular Value
I purchased this television at a bricks-and-mortar store, on sale, for less money than the 32" LCD screen that I was considering. I was planning to place the TV on a stand, not the wall, and I do not need the incredible viewing angle of plasma, so there was no reason to spend the extra money for the truly-flat TV.

My new TV finally arrived and I am very pleased with it.I picked this one based primarily on all of the reviews I could find online, the vast majority of which were very positive (cNet has lots of reviews as well). Also, I have two friends who are cable guys and they see all kinds of TVs, all day every day, and both of them bought this exact set for themselves.

I got mine locally for $1100 dollars. The going rate was 1399-1599.I saw it at a competitor for $1198.So I went to another competitor and they gave it to me for the same price and took another $100 off the price for HDTV installation. What a picture.I started to get turned off by sony because I had 2 32 inch CRT's with tilted yoke making widescreen movies bend at the corners. But I remained loyal and I'm glad I did.I was iniitally wanting a DLP by Samsung but thise one next to in the store blew it away.I didn't go for the $500 dollar service contract because that's half of the price of the television.I'll take my chances on this one.Hopefully bulbs will come down too. You'll love the picture with or without HDTV.I love all the features and they're pretty intuitive. There probably won't be too many left.I think they're phasing the model out.Not sure about amazon but the sony purchase is worth it.Sorry about the other bad reviews here. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars TV is great .. AMAZON SUCKS
This is a great quality TV, but due to space problems we were ready to spend an extra $1000 with Amazon and exchange it for a bigger TV.It turns out TVs over 27" are non-refundable.. Such BS..If you have such an unusual policy, you must make it more visible.. It is casually stated amongs one million lines of junk information Amazon puts on its pages.Needless to say, Amazon lost me for life.. and I do not just say things like that, I mean it..The fact that they would not let me exchange for an item almost twice as expensive should also be declared the biggest idiocy in retail policy creation.. Only if Jeff Bezos knew..!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Suffers from burn in.
I bought this TV from Best Buy and at the time was assured by the salesmen that this TV was in his words, "anti burn in."
