5-0 out of 5 stars Roadie Printer
I travel quite a bit and needed a small printer to work with my Dell 700m laptop. I'm in the technical field service area. I was trying to choose between the Canon ip90 and the HP 460 but the Canon was out of stock so . . .
4-0 out of 5 stars mobile printing naturally
The printer is fast and printing is always properly aligned on the paper. Quality of printed text is as good as any decent desktop printer and that is why I bought it in the first place. I am yet to try printing photos. Because this is a mobile printer the manufacturer needs to ensure that the unit will stand up to the hits and accidents caused by regular transporting. It might mean providing a second skin or a padded bag with the unit

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Perfectly!!!
Driver loaded first time no problem, battery charged quickly, test print came out perfect, test printed a 8.5 x 11 photo, it took about a minute and came out great on the included standard ink. The printer weight is 5.4 lbs with the battery installed it's not light but it's not that bad either. I owned a Canon portable, it lasted 10 months and had to be replaced under warranty, I quickly sold the replacement, they are slow and noisy, they cost way more, the ink cartridges are very tiny and expensive, I had to refill my own to afford to use it, the HP cartridges hold twice as much ink and are cheaper. If you've got money to burn then get the Canon, if not this HP is a deal and you get a battery with it, what good is a mobile printer without a battery? ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars poor and bad support of mediocre product
Purchased this for a networked small office environment (three users). When we had print quality issues a few months after installation our young secretary called support and was told to clean the drum with a paper towel. That's it! She took it out and damaged it in the light. Why would tech support tell you to take the drum out to clean it and not warn you about exposure to light? More calls and more of the same poor help. At their suggestion, she spent $400 on new cartridges, to no avail. Now they want us to ship it back to CA from New England.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great printer, until it needs service!
Terrible customer service!Printer failed during non-profit's annual appeal mailing job.Samsung refused to send a technician to the office or accept return; instead attempted to diagnose problem by phone to no avail.Sent user-changeable parts that did not solve problem.Customer service manager has not responded to my calls.Printer has been malfunctioning for more than ten days--still no fix in sight.

5-0 out of 5 stars hp 5550 works like a dream
I've had the 5550 for about 3years, and have never had the least problem with it. It came as a surprise to find that it could produce very high quality photo prints using hp photographic paper. The cartridges don't last all that well, but don't be fooled into replacing them as soon as you get the warning message saying ink is low. I've found that you can keep using the cartridge (moderately) for months after you get the first warning.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty solid printer; shame about the cartidges though.
I've had this printer for the best part of 2 years now. It's only ever jammed on me once, and that's when I tried to put too much paper into the feeder. The only real gripe I have about this printer is the way it eats cartridges like there's no tomorrow. Cartridge prices have recently come down though, but they're still incredibly high for what's supposed to be a medium-scale printer. I usually use my brother's LaserJet upstairs if I need to print something quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Printer!
I am more than happy with my (2) HP5550 printers.I have been using them heavily for three years.I am sorry to read so many people are having problems. Most people have problems from lack of computer knowledge (i didn't say anybody was dumb). There are new versions of software available at HP.com for download.Don't use the software that came with the printer. If your printer is jamming paper frequently and making noise you have a problem that needs repair. Then I would ask did you buy this printer new in the original packaging or did you get second hand deal? You might have been scammed! Don't buy brown box specials. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The little engine that could....then DIDN'T!
I've owned this printer for probablly a year now and now I'm shopping for a new one!!Why can't Canon get it in their head to put the print head on the ink cartridge itself like HP does (who's printers I'm now reviewing)...then maybe you wouldn't have the problem of your print head wearing out and clogging like I did.Oh and did I mention it costs about $85 for a new print head,...yeah that's what I said!Don't get me wrong...the printer did great for the time I had it...excellent prints and everything but to only last a year (if it's even been that long)...I'm quite disappointed. So my search is on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great printer, no complaints.
This printer does an excellent job, esp with high-quality paper, on documents and an equally fine job on photos. I have used it to turn several so-so color photos into beautiful bordered B&W prints. Worked with my PC and now works with my Mac, no problems at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars Landfill
Worked fine for a couple of months of sparse use. Then, it would not be recognized by my computer no matter how many times I tried to tighten the connections and reinstall. Now, it won't even power up. Completely dead. Thank you for wasting my money and worse, creating more useless garbage. A shame. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good value for home use
After reading the earlier reviews, I was skeptical. But considering the recent price drops ($199) I decided to give this printer a try. The installation was easy. I got paper jams on the first try, but this was due to the paper tray not being positioned correctly - I had the printer sitting on a carpet surface (the paper tray does not lock shut, so is susceptible to improper positioning easily). It comes with a full size toner X25 (good for 2500 pages). Printing, Scanning seem pretty decent. OCR worked well with the Omnipage software that came with the CD (old version of Omnipage software, but accurate character recognition). Copying by placing original on flatbed caused really crooked copy the first time, but seemed better on subsequent times. It was still not perfectly square in alignment. This might have been due to a combination of paper quality and loosely fitted paper tray. Despite these I am happy with the printer for home use. It is good value for the money. I am giving it 3 stars mainly due to the poor fit and issues with the paper tray. You can get over the last problem by placing the printer on a hard surface and installing the paper tray carefully and not disturbing it often.

2-0 out of 5 stars Least intuitive piece of hardware EVER!
I know it's difficult to imagine and probably a slight exageration but quite frankly I have never really seen a piece of office equipment with such a non-intuitive usability design.
1-0 out of 5 stars No mac support!
No mac support! Not just "no mac drivers on the included CD", but "no mac drivers exist that will cause this thing to print".

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst purchase ever made
I bought this printer to print color documents made in Word, Excel, and Publisher, or PDFs. When I couldn't print any color documents, I called Samsung's tech support. Following tech support's directions, I could print only a Word file in black and white. After unsuccessful attempts to print color documents, tech support said the color printer lacks "postscript drivers" that is needed to print color documents made in Word, Excel, Publisher, or PDFs. Something is missing here? I don't know how others are able to print color documents, but I returned it since the color printer wasn't able to print color.

4-0 out of 5 stars Top value color laser - recommended
I bought this printer for a couple of specific reasons - to do double-sided colour printing on plain paper and to print presentation certificates.I already had a B&W laser printer.I read the reviews, many negative, but bought anyway, reasoning that complainers always complain but satisfied customers stay silent.
5-0 out of 5 stars better than these reviews let you to believe
I do not usually waste my writing reviews but the ones for this printer are outright wrong so I am going to make an exception.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PHOTO PRINTER!
This printer replaced my old Epson 1270 and it is a much better printer for several reasons.
5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic photos
Incredible prints, easy to set up and get printing, (if you have a fork lift ;) it is a bit heavy and its big), but the pictures you get from this printer can't be beat. The only thing that I dont like, other than its heft and size, is that the cost per print is just a bit to high. But after I printed and saw my first 8x10 I had to give it 5 stars. If you want prints that last, look great and have a big desk, you will love this printer.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Awesome printer!!!
I've owned a few top of the line ink jets but this Kodak sub-dye printer is just plain awesome. If you need professional photos, this is the printer to get. It's fast, quiet and produces a print that is smooth with a lot of color and contrast. Shadow detail is breath taking and it is also easy to use. ... Read more

I already have a workgroup laser printer for my heavy printing needs. But manually feeding in Avery label sheets just to print a few address labels is a real multi-step hassle. So I got the Dymo Labelwriter and the only thing I've been asking myself is: why didn't I get this thing sooner?

Editorial Review

This printer might just become your favorite home electronics component. The feature-rich PIXMA iP5200R Photo Printer can produce a beautiful photo lab quality 4" x 6" borderless print in about 36 seconds. And it delivers an amazing resolution of up to 9,600 x 2,400 color dpi, for detail and clarity unmatched by comparable printers. To achieve this, Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a next-generation 3,584-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as one picoliter. Also, the ContrastPLUS five-color ink system--four dye-based inks and a pigment-based black ink--produces true-life photos with a wide color palette, along with laser-quality text. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Exercise in frustration for low light pics--and very little control
This printer has been an exercise infrustration.I was very happy with our Epson 200R, but we used it to death and wanted to try an upgrade. I should have bought 2 more of the Epsons.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good printer so far
Despite what others have reported, I had no problems setting up the printer for both wired and wireless.I do recommend setting it up wired first. My 2nd computer prints via the DLink wireless router with no problems. The power button on the printer is pretty well hidden (black button on a black case) but I discovered the auto power on/off setting which works great, even with wireless.
5-0 out of 5 stars Quality and Speed
This printer is wonderful. The print quality is as good as you get through snapfish or similar digital processing companies - assuming you step up and buy good photo paper. The output speed is excellent in both color and black. The flexibilty of having two paper trays works well for me as I have the printer hidden away in a draw and connected wirelessly to my hub/router. The printer is larger than I expected but, really what's the big deal, if you want a smaller printer that's portable get a HP Deskjet 460bwt. Set up was a breeze - I'm running Mac OS 10.4.7 on a MacBook Pro. Great quality, great price and excellent flexibility with the wireless feature. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 STARS FOR LEXMARK
This printer is perfect for my needs; i.e., printing labels, greeting cards, business cards and postcards as well as regular documents.I had purchased a new HP and it jammed and skewed the labels.I also had to change all the top margins on these label documents in order for them to print correctly. The Lexmark handles all media beautifully and quickly.Photos are great.Very easy install.Comes with start-up ink cartridges and USB cable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Z816
I bought this printer over the moans and groans of family and friends. It's too slow, uses a lot of ink, etc. etc. However I looked specifically for a printer that would reliably feed labels, business cards, and other cobbled up stuff.Lexmark was the only company I could find that would claim to handle this stuff, and the printer does.It is downright scary as it violently grabs the media for printing. But, it prints accurately and does not jam, or skew, the media. It also prints quite rapidly in black and white.Faster than my old Canons. It IS slow on color printing, but I did not buy it for that. And It seems to be not as bad on ink as I had anticipated.I isn't any more of an ink hog than my HP.So far, it is just exactly what I need. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Consumer only printer

4-0 out of 5 stars Good printer, a little complicated to set up print jobs
Most of the complaints here seem related to not understanding the plethora of settings available for this printer. Maybe there are too many options for some users, but on the other hand, you can do a lot of fine tuning before printing--in terms of color values, size, and so forth. For example, I was transferring files composed to the default printer on another computer and was losing type on page edges when printed on the 9800. When I discovered the option to "emulate Laserjet margins," the problem was solved. It is not perfect, but so far I have printed on a variety of media (in all sizes and weights), and my only major complaint is the amount of ink it consumes. But that's a problem with all inkjets. I own five printers, and three of them are HP, one is a Canon photo printer, and one is the Epson Stylus I bought to print CDs. The HPs produce the best results, especially if one reads the manuals.

2-0 out of 5 stars Unpredictable...
I'm a software programmer. Bought this one for a customer to print a3-sized, duplex customs documents. It works, but can be unpredictable. In the same document, the minimum margins where completely different, forcing me to resize the report (irretating). If you want to manually print duplex, you have to make very sure the paper is reloaded properly, because it will eat of the default tray, ruining your duplex print (irretating again). The last years I have been being Canon-printers. Very good - but the Canon i9900 was sold out on our little island where we live, so I moved to HP. Don't if you can avoid it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed
I needed a parallel port printer that could still perform decently at a moderate demand level, and I got exactly that.I had none of the dreaded HP installation software problems nor did I have the page cut-off problem mentioned by another reviewer.I am very pleased by the speed and quality of the output and the ink usage seems quite reasonable. Also, the printer machinery seems very solid.

5-0 out of 5 stars A year of carefree printing
I bought the HP Business Inkjet 1200d out of frustration with dealing with my girlfriend's Lexmark. She doesn't do much printing, so the Lexmark cartridges died quickly with a full inkload. But at $70 per set of Lexmarks, the HP seemed more promising with it's separate printheads at $33 apiece, and ink tanks at similar costs.I wanted separate printheads, as I had been BADLY burned by a $400 Brother multifunction machine that used ONE four-color printhead that cost $200 to replace(at 60 days use).
5-0 out of 5 stars My 6th HP printer
I've had the 1200D for about 6 months, about 4,000 pages.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Workhorse Printer
When it came time to replace my low-end Epsom color printer, the one received free with my computer, I decided to upgrade to midlevel monochrome printer. So far, a month into my purchase, I am pleased. It is a 3.5 star printer.
2-0 out of 5 stars Worse quality than your old HP LJ1000
I have a small business, and already have other 3 HP Laserjet printers. I was so far happy, and recently bought a LJ1160. I'm very worried about it. It's very fast (20ppm), and really prints very well vectorial graphics and text, but it has a very bad quality for rasterized images (BMP,GIF,JPEG,etc). It doesn't have a setting specifically for image printing, and the driver has some bugs. You can't even read some parts of scanned documents (for example, old datasheets of electronic devices).
2-0 out of 5 stars Tray
The manual feed is a pain, it's one paper feed at a time and it difficult to feed the paper since it's not a try but a slot - I am also having difficultyprinter to tray two, for some reason it keep referring to manual feed even if everything is set to print from (auto feed or even tray 2).I have three in the office and I will no purchase another one just for this reason. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars do not buy
doesn't work properly over a network - paper get jammed often - needs to be restarted - printer drivers are an issue - instable bonjour connection - cannot handle mixed networking on MacOS or Windows - had to get it exchanged twice - going thru nightmare of tech support from india spent hours arguing over the phone - they have no clue and do not keep any record of the case. do yourself a favor never buy it and if you already did though if it breaks trash it buy a canon and pray and enjoy your day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Printer For The Money
This printer was purchased for use in an office environment. It's used often everyday, so it has to be dependable. This one has performed nicely so far. I would purchase another one without hesitation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comment/Update on DISenchanted's review
I have not yet purchased this printer, which I am strongly considering as a replacement for my ancient HP Laserjet IIIp.
