Hard to Impress, but I'm Impressed!
I needed to consolidate. Donate my Printer, Scanner, and Fax machines to charity and purchase an All in One to save space and reduce clutter and wires.
Coulda been 5 stars
Just picked this up after being scared away by the reviews of the (more expensive) 7x10 series. So far, I have been extremely impressed.Very smooth setup, wireless is WONDERFUL (using on 3 PCs with 3 different OS), very nice print quality (with decent paper) very good (but not as good as my Kodak printer) photo printing. We'll see about ink usage, since that seems to be the profit center these days.
Excellent inexpensive
I needed to replace a number of my single-use devices with AiO and unclutter my desk real estate. I decided on HP because a single quality of HP cartridges: the printer may be off line for quite long time, and when one needs it, just turn it on and voila. It prints without hesitation. My first color printer from Epson, every time upon turning on, used to start long process of heads cleaning, using up half of the cartridges capacity just for cleaning. Still quality of prints was far below expectation. HP cartridges are ready to print this very moment when you need them.

Wonderful budget photo printer for the Amateur Photographer
I've had this printer for the past 3 weeks or so, and I am thoroughly impressed. I am an amateur photographer who insists on quality color and black and white photo prints. While, I could have spent a couple of hundred dollars more and have one with a more impressive printer, I am still a student and must live on a budget.I've been printing some of my recent photos with this and I couldn't be happier. They come out crisp and the colors are great! I have printed photos taken from scanned 35mm color slides as well as photos from my digital camera, and they have turned out great (both 4x6 and 8x10 prints). As a student, I also needed a printer that would work for document printing, and, again, I have no complaints. If you need a good all around printing and only do light to medium volumes of printing, this is a great option.
Difficult to load CDs and DVDs without error.
I bought the R340 to print CDs and DVDs only.If the disc loads correctly, the printer does a magnificent job, but as several other useres have noted, getting it to load is an arduous undertaking. The trick for proper loading is this: after you send the CD/DVD print file to the printer, the feed mechanism will push the tray back out about a quarter of an inch. You must quickly push it back in by hand, before the feeder grabs the tray again, or it will misfeed every time and generate an error condition. With a little practice, you get so that it will feed correctly maybe half the time.
Great Printer
I have owned this printer for over 6 months, run over 200 cd's through it and they all printed without any problems. I'm sorry to hear some other users had problems. Has been working great for me. I recomended it to a co-worker and he has had no problems with his either...

Editorial Review With the versatile PIXMA MP500 Photo All-In-One on your desktop, you'll ask yourself how you ever got along without it. This amazing machine delivers an impressive resolution of up to 9,600 x 2,400 color dpi, for remarkable detail and clarity. How does it do it? Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a next-generation 1,856-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as one picoliter. Further, our Contrast PLUS five-color ink system--four dye-based inks and a pigment-based black ink--produces true-life photos with a wide color palette, along with laser-quality text. You won't have to wait long to see your results; a beautiful photo lab quality 4"x 6" borderless photo takes approximately 51 seconds. Read more

just okay
Overall, seems to work well for the price. I've had a few problems though. 1) Often the printer says it doesn't "recognize" an ink cartridge (one that came with the printer originally) and I have to turn it off and on again to get it to work. 2) I haven't figured out how to print on legal size paper... I think maybe it's not possible.3) Color quality is just so-so even on photo paper. I had a better experience with my old Epson that lasted me almost 10 years.
TERRIBLE RELIABILITY
Even though I have used my printer (a Pixma 5000) very lightly, it jams regularly on Canon photo paper and then spills ink everywhere. Today it went into "service error 5700" and it doesn't work any more, even after rebooting it five times.
NICE PRINTER BUT ONE BOTHERSOME FLAW ...
I recently bought this printer from Amazon, generally like it, but it has one problem: when I have not used printer for a time (1 - 7 days, this problem more likely & severe the longer it has been) colors are often very bad, eg no red at all, sometimes no red and no yellow, on first page or 2 that I print. After 1-2 pages everything works fine until printer is unused for another few-day period. This problem always leaves me the choice of reprinting 1 or 2 pages (spending precious time and draining expensive ink) or accepting a lousy looking printout.Note there may be a fix out there, I am too lazy/busy to hunt it down. And if you are running this printer long and hard, on a daily basis, you will probably not experience this problem. But if you use printer only for small and occasional jobs (say a 4 page job 3 times a week) I think this printer is a bad choice, you can probably get more dependable quality from a less expensive printer.

Starry Eyed Over This One, But Lets Me Down
Upon the joyful news that we were having a girl, my husband decided to invest in a new digital camera and a photo printer. The digital camera still works great--the printer is another matter. While this one prints beautiful pictures, the cost of ink far outweighs the beauty of them sometimes.
Great photos BUT ...
Yes, it has excellent quality photos - worth the slow printing to get - not really all that slow.BUT . . . I have had to re-install the software several times in the year or so that I have owned it - fickle.AND now, without warning, the printer now needs repair - no abuse to it, no special printing - just one day decided to malfunction.HP on-line technician says it is internal hardware problem and I will have to pay to get it fixed.HA! costs more to repair than replace, but reliability on this hasn't been all that great in my HP experiences with several printers.Troubleshooting guides not that great, doesn't go into a lot of the problems.Got a paper jam? Yeah, that's covered in the troubleshooting. But receive a special error code on the LCD display? Nah, can't let the customer know what that code means...So, if you can buy this CHEAP, then it's worth it for the quality of the photo printing, but plan for it to have a short life.
Pretty Good, But...
yep, this thing uses photo ink like a horse drinks water. not sure how it compares to other makes or models though.

Excellent printer
I would recommend this printer to anyone who wants laser quality and needs output that doesn't take forever!Easy to assemble and operate, excellent quality, and a great buy at the price. I'm REALLY glad I got it!
Great Product - Expensive Cartridges
The printer itself is great.very high quality and reasonably quick.
Perfect for small office
Bought this printer based on reviews I had read. Although some reviews were slightly negative , on the whole the bulk were glowing, and after having had mine for 3 months now I have to concur.

Okay, but touchy
This is an acceptable printer, but one must be very, very careful about loading the paper. If you push too hard, you get paper jams. And don't try to load more paper, should you run out, during a printing.More paper jams.I've had quite a bit of trouble.
A dandy little printer
I was in the market for a new inkjet and finally settled on this printer. The photo output is awesome and it's very fast!
Performs beautifully
Just received this as a bundle with the HP407 digital camera for about $120.00.The printer is great!Prints good quality, fairly quickly and doesn't burn through the ink.Haven't connected to my computer, as I'm using the printer as a stand-alone portable.I have an HP multifuntion & don't want to risk a software error by connecting a second HP product.

GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY
I have had this product for about a year and have had no problems. It makes great color prints and is easy to use. This is my third EPSON printer and I have found their quality to be excellant.
Mixed review
I have nothing to add regarding the features of this product, except the quality of prints far exceeded my expectations out of the box.I was pleased with this printer until it began to malfunction. After just a couple of months the paper intake roller began to pull harder on one side than the other causing the paper to wrinkle and jam.The good news is, Epson customer service is top notch! After attempting (and failing) to troubleshoot the problem, the very polite tech support guy is sending me a replacement by Fedex.
Amazing All In One
This printer has been a pleasant surprise-I was skeptical at first to purchase since the reviews are all over the place.

Great printer/interesting printer driver...
I replaced an ancient HP printer and this puppy certainly pumps the pages out!The printer driver has some interesting multi-page options (shrinking pages to fit on a single page and also expanding pages to fit on multiple pages). That said, I'm not too sure of the usefulness of such options.Very happy with this printer!
Solid Performer
Ergonomic design and small footprint make this relatively quick monochromatic Laser printer a good buy especially if you get the rebate which can bring the price down to around $169. I'm a satisfied customer and recommend this for personal and small office use without reservation
An excellent low cost high-speed laser printer
After a couple of weeks of use, this printer exceeds my expectations. It is a truly an excellent low cost high-speed laser printer. The quality of printing is superb. My only negative is the high wattage of electricity that it draws when it awakes from the sleep mode. Each time it awakes,it causes my battery backup to beep.

Great once you get it working...
I spent a long time figuring out why it wasn't working right. If you have problems with it not working at all, use the customer support at Dymo and search for USB or however you connected. It will then give instructions on how to reload the drivers which worked great. Also, make sure your label roll is TIGHT on the spool.Mine was a little loose and that really fouled it up. Now that I have it set up right it is great. You can add graphics and such to your labels. The labels also come in other colors.
I love it so far
So far so good. Very fast printing with excellent text quality. The software is very easy to use. I just hope it lasts longer than my Dymo LabelWriter 300 which died after 3 years of normal use. This printer uses an external power supply which is an improvement over the model 300 which used an internal supply that failed.
Beware reliability of power supply (based on earlier model 330)
I have been a big fan of these printers.I own one vintage unit from when they were CoStar LabelWriters, and 2 LabelWriter 330 units. I still love the functionality, BUT ... now both of my 330s (one at home, one in the office) have suffered power supply failures.Dymo's solution is to send them back for a $75 repair (each). That's a large fraction of the purchase price. The power supplies lived through the warranty period, but not much longer ... so the calculation you must make is whether a unit that lives just about that long is worth the purchase price.

Excellent prints, easy to use
Bought this after seeing a Kodak printer in use at a family reunion and was impressed with that printer as well. The HP's ability to print 5x7 is what sold me on it, though. The prints are great and the 5x7, although only an inch larger each way, is a much larger picture. Tried croping on it and then printing, very easy to do and you do not need a PC. Would definately recommend this to anyone that wants to print their own photos and would even be handy on vacation to unload photos off a memory card since it has a 1.5gig HD in it for storage.
SLOPPY INTERFACE & Poor Ergonomics
Rushed to market with a poor user interface!
ILove this printer
I have this printer for a month, and just love it, the photos are very good, the colorand sharpness of the prints. are beautiful. I am glad that I purchased it and would recomend it for any one who wantsa printer that youcan use with out a computer.

Installation Nightmare!!!
I dont know about the installation on this thing. Tryed to install this with the Bluetooth card supplied and my new HP Pavilion with Bluetooth built in you would think it would be easy. No way!!. After two hours on my own, then two hours to a guy in India who did not know anything, I gave up. Boxed it up and sent it back. Its also bigger then you would expect, its not something you can put in a brief case with a laptop. Its way too big. Your better off bring a cheap LexMark printer with a USB cable.

Must be a better machine
Replaced an old Sharp fax machine with what I thought was newer and better machine. WRONG!! if you don't baby it , it will not feed multiple pages. likes to pull two or three sheets at a time. What a pain! Other functions are not as intuitive as one would expect.
Absolute Junk
I purchased this model around 6 months ago, and the problems continue every day. This machine won't fax multiple pages...instead it likes to pull the whole 5 or 6 page set through at once, thus jamming and causing headache.Secondly, the machine likes to jam up while receiving.I am not the only one I know with these problems.
