Beautiful prints if you can get them out
This printer produces the most beautiful prints I've ever seen. They look better than come out of a camera store. However to get each out I go through about 10-15 paper jams and printer errors FOR EVERY PICTURE, every time.Terrible.
Great but cranky
This printer is teriffic for labeling CD/DVD and has made my LightScribe obsolete because of its ability to print in color.I am able to print as many pictures as I like or am able to put on the disc and then title it in any color I desire. It is sometimes cranky about pulling the tray in to complete the printing cycle but with a slight assist it will usually draw the tray into the machine.I have had to replace my tray once because it just got old and tired on the end that lays on the rollers that pull it into the machine but replacement trays are cheap.I think I paid about five dollars for the one I purchased at the authorized dealer/repair place.I love what this machine can do and would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to print a lot of labels.
Nice Personal Photo Printer
I've had this printer for 3 years and it prints pictures beatifully.I use it at home for my personal picture printing only. The color is just as it appears on the computer screen and images are vivid.I have used replacement cartridges and have only had trouble with the black ink.The ink does run out quickly as the cartridges are small but the compatible ones have worked well except for the black.I have not had trouble with paper feeding and use several sheets at a time. One will need to experiment with the settings for different computers but the end results are georgeous.I like my home printed pictures better than ones done by print shops.I've been told that some of my printed pictures look like postcards and I agree.

Good priner possible failure prone
During my first year of use this pritner was good to very good I used it for light office printing, maybe 5- 10 pages a day. At about 13 months just out of warranty it failed. Brother was unable to fix it. This was while it was still on its first toner cartridge (original one that came with it.I think it would be a fine pinter If you buy a 2or 3 year warranty. Also the manual paper feed rarely worked but usually jammed or failed to take the paper and print to it. Maybe i should have given it 2 stars but it was a good printer for 1 year and with the way things are made today and for the price paid this is what we should expect I guess. Im going to get a Brother 5140 but im going to buy that waranty just in case. I also have had a HP 2600N color laser which after a few months of use is great but kind of slow at only 8 pages a minute or less.
Excellent for the money
I've owned four of these for a business we run.The print quality issues are easily solved by visiting Brother's Web site. It's usually something as simple as replacing the toner (when it's out), cleaning the drum with a Q-tip, etc.
Worst printer I have ever owned
My old HP Laserjet 4L worked for about 15 years. In fact it is still working today (I have never needed to replace the drum on it, btw).My Brother 1440 lasted 8 months.

Still more expensive than the current printers 4 years later
I watched this printer for years and I was waiting for the price to drop.I finally caved in a bought a refurb 1 year ago.
Excellent!
I needed a printer to go with my Notebook and this one filled the bill.It isn't cheap but you seem to get what you pay for. When at home, adding the Auto Sheet Feeder makes it as convenient as a stationary printer but with a smaller footprint.Highly recommend this one for the Notebook users.

a definite hit
love the quality and the cost, pretty easy to set up.took about an hour.lots of features for the price.i am using on a home office network, so connection was a little more tricky, good help on the product support page (www.samsung.com).
Fantastic duplex color laser at great price.
This printer is fantastic.I was in the market for a duplexing laser printer and had no idea I'd be able to get a color one for this price. It came very well packaged and I was happy that they had not preinstalled all the toners and drums since it kept the weight down.It took about 15 minutes to install.I love the print quality. You have to be a bit patient for the first page to come out but it's worth the wait.Very nice software included. The software installs well and does not appear to be buggy like the HP software.I could not be happier with this laser printer.Nice true color matches too!

Same as other problems...
I just recieved the printer from my boss at work, was sitting outside his office for about a month.... just today took it home and tried to fix it to no avail. It IS a piece of [...], the cartridge was stuck on the right, the back was broken off, and the lights are blinking nonstop.
What a workhorse!
I have had a 3820 for a couple of years and it is a tireless, reliable workhorse and produces exceptional black and color output.I will work this thing to death and bury it with a 21 gun salute!
HP is now refusing to replace this printer
This printer died on me last week in exactly the same way as has been widely reported here and other forums (such as fixyourownprinter.com).I contacted HP telephone support, mentioning that there were numerous reports on the Internet of them replacing this printer even though it was out of warranty. The telephone representative evaded acknowledging this, and tried very hard to sell me a new printer. I contacted online support. The online support representative at least did acknowledge that the reports of free replacements were true. But he said that this policy had been discontinued as of December 2005. When I asked why he said "Sorry, I don't have the details, as this is a decision of the higher ups."He tried to sell me a new printer too.

Cost-effective, good SW, drivers
This is so much more effective for the needs of our small business than inkjet tecnyology.Seems very fast. Also replaces $1400 dot matrix used for PR checks.600 sheet tray is indication that machine can be used for heavier jobs.
Nice Printer
PROs: The HL-6050D has outstanding text quality at 600 DPI and well over 20 ppm output speed. We haven't tried the 1200 DPI setting since 600 DPI produces very sharp text. The duplex mode is wonderful--it will automatically collate and print books/booklets of any length. This is a heavy duty printer with many extra features and is well worth the cost.We don't know about long-term reliabilty yet, since we've only had it for about a week, but it does seem to be well designed and assembled.Easy software startup on WindowsXP.(Be sure not to connect printer cable until Brother printer install program asks for it.)It's simple to install more memory DIMMs and a network card.

Other Reviewers are Correct:TRASH
Initially I was skeptical of other reviews, thinking "Only the lemons write reviews."I was wrong.
this product is very good
I like it, It's very good i used it for homework and it works good, I giveit a 4 stars.
Run away, buy a something else
IF I could give this machine negative stars I would. The fax machine can't tell when there is a fax coming in, so someone has to know that a fax is coming to turn the machine on, or everyone who calls gets a shrieking fax tone in their ear.The printer quit working after a couple of weeks.Tip- if your printer starts to fade to gray, clean the strip and the bottom of the cartridge off with alcohol. My printer problem is that the printer hangs. At that point, I have to unplug the USB, power down the printer, and uninstall and reinstall the drivers. This happens about every 3rd print. The Indian support desk is well trained about answers, but if the answer they learned doesnt' work, they don't troubleshoot. There is no on in email, online or phone support who is interested in solving your problem; they just want to say they provided an answer and get you out of their queue.I've spent *hours* trying to keep this thing up and running (I've owned it since Memorial Day weekend 2006).Lexmark support refuses to acknowledge that this piece of equipment has a material defect. The warranty isn't worth the paper it is printed on.My advice to you is get something else. The $20 you save on this, you'll spend in your time.

HP Says They Still Have Support for the CP1700...
I am currently dealing with a printer that is printing weird little hash marks across straight lines at random. We first were getting messages to change the print heads and would do so, only to have it keep telling us we needed to change the print heads. Then we could "trick it" by opening and shutting the cover a few times and we could get a few more prints out of it, before the message would come back, which by the way makes it so you can't keep printing. 6 months ago, we tried to print off color brochures and the colors were horrible--so that wasn't going to work.We also are experiencing blue ghost like things around text and objects when trying to print out autocad files.:P
Does this thing come with a hamster inside?
We use this printer at my work, and those of us who have a desk in the same room as the printer hate it! This printer has been squeaking so loudly that we joke and tell customers that we have a hamster running on a wheel inside of it. The customers can hear the printer squeaking in the background when they call in. The squeaking is so loud that it is hard to hear on the phone when it is running. The print quality is not very impressive, either. I have one at home by HP that cost a 10th of what this piece of junk did, and the quality on my printer is much better.
