Used this to go camping, worked like a charm. I used the Sima STP-325 325-Watt Power Inverter several times to inflate a aerobed, play a laptop, and to recharge batteries. Buyer Beware!
Tested immediately upon arrival! Did not work. Trying to return a defective part is next to impossible. Ended up throwing it away and eating the cost. Would have cost more to go through the process of returing it to Amazon.

This is a GREAT power inverter for the car! I use it for plugging my laptop in so I can charge it and play music while driving. High recommended, and I've never had a problem with it! *****

Not truly 140 watts...
I purchased this unit from a Radio Shack in town (for way too much money, might I add) and was very upset to discover that by "140watt" they mean "70 watts per plug" (the device has two AC outlets on it.) Plugging in my Dell laptop adapter (which pulls exactly 70 watts) caused the unit to overload, and it popped the fuse inside of the cigarette lighter itself. Furthermore Radio Shack wouldn't take it back because they claimed I damaged it. Anyhow, the unit feels sort of cheaply constructed, and when it was "on", it smelt like burning electronics. I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it.Read more

Great item at a great price
Just used this inverter today on an eight hour trip from Upstate New York to Michigan in order to power my laptop with MS Streets & Trips/GPS and it worked perfectly.On top of that, you can't beat getting a quality inverter for less than $30.

A Trip to StoneMountain, GA
I read some of the reviews and wanted to let you know that for the money I purchased 2 for my son and my brother in Jersey. I took a trip to stonemountain park in GA, my son played his playstation 2 game fine. The only problem I had was with the S600 Mercedes the inverter didn't cut off when the key was out and in the on position-so when I went to use some of the keyless devices like truck open/close I found they didn't close. I found the inverter was still on and just cut it off everything worked fine after that-so remember to cut it off when car is not running. It fit the lighter better than previous adapters I've purchased with other vehicles.

Excellent Product
I've owned my Tripp Lite Power Inverter for over 5 years now and it still works like a charm.The fan is a bit noisy, but you normally won't hear it while traveling or simply by having the radio on.The low battery warning is crucial as it prevents you from draining the battery beyond the point of needing jumper cables.I've never tried any of the other power inverters, but there has been no need as this satisfies every need.

Small, well-built and extremely quiet.
Excellent design!After much research, I purchased this item and have used it extensively for the past couple months.So far, nothing negative to report.Many reviews commented on how loud the fan was but I barely heard it at all.Nor did it get too warm.It's pretty basic mechanically, so I assume it's as dependable as any other inverter.If you're not sure what size to get, always be on the safe side and GO LARGE!Tripp Lite makes them in various sizes.

I got this inverter because it is compact, has a good power rating, and has two outlets. Unfortunately, I had to stop using it, because it is just too noisy to use in my car.

So far it was good, now it started giving noise.
I bought this a year back. It worked great for 1 year. I always use this whenever I go for trips. It still works without any problem except it recently started giving some noise(probably because of the fan).You can definetely get irritated unless you have music on with good volume.
