5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product. A little pricey but worth it.
I use my Microsoft GPS on my computer in my car. I could not hear the voice directions through my small notebook speakers. I wanted something that would solve this problem without taking up more space.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than expected.Good value for the moola. . . .
I bought this because I read the sterling reviews here. Now that it is kicking out Neil Young with no distortion, at peak volume, I have to say it sounds better than I expected. And for such a lightweight portable system. I'm a very happy SOB. It will surely make my days on the road much more endurable. Love the USB power option. Since my notebook has four ports, it's no problem to dedicate one for my musical vibes. Very cool value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Portable, but powerful!
This is a nice piece of speaker. It fits nicely on LCD screen of a laptop. You won't believe the sounds that it produced. Amazing! I would say you can hear the sound as far as 100ft away. It really work well if you need to do a presentation in a big classroom that requires louder sound. It also comes with a pouch that you can store the device if not in use. Connection is simple. Just plug it to any usb port or use its external battery pack. AC adapter is an optional accessory which is somewhat disappointed consider the price it is selling for. Overall, I think this is a good investmentif you need to produce louder sound when using a laptop! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good overall.
I didn't buy these speakers. I was traveling to my mother's friends house, and her daughter owned these. I wasn't sure if they were new or used, but overall they worked well. I listened to them while doing my hmework with my cheap off-brand mp3 player.
4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for laptops and not bad for music
Given the low cost and extremely small size, these speakers do a couple of things well, and some not so well:
5-0 out of 5 stars Small yet powerful
I thought it would be impossible to find little speakers that sounded good, but I'm pretty happy with the Sony SRS-T33.I don't know if the type of batteries used makes a difference, but I put in a couple of lithium ones. Also, it can be used without batteries, which is okay for at night when you are putting yourself to sleep and you don't want it too loud.By the way, I use it with my ipod. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for what they're designed for
I think these speakers are great. They may not have the richness of other portable systems, but the other portable systems are much bulkier.I can take these to the beach and listen to my ipod (nano) all day on 4 AA high capacity Sony rechargeable batteries. I can throw them in my suitcase and take them on business trips.I don't need to take my ipod out of it's case to plug them in either. The other systems won't let the ipod fit with the case on.The sound is good and perfect for a hotel/small room.On the beach the sound is directed towards me and isn't loud enough to bother other people. All in all a good buy and I recommend them for anyone looking for an extremely portable speaker system that sounds good.If I had one complaint, it would be that the bass isn't that strong, but...that's part of the deal with such a small system.

3-0 out of 5 stars speaker
is not loud enough to listen in a big space. But is small enough to carry around.

Yes it does cost a bit more than a standard splitter, but well worth it.My wife and I can listen to the same MP3s now and she can have the sound adjusted exactly as she likes it.I am probably going to buy some more of these to use at my computer to split the sound to my monitor speakers and my good speakers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Boomtube...best portable speaker for MP3, but expensive
This works well. Some talk about it being really loud, but it could be a lot louder. It will be fine for listening to in a small room or maybe on the patio, but don't expect to be able to crank this up enough for a loud dance party. It isn't THAT loud. Too much $$ for what you get also. It does fill a certain niche though. I also have a Creative portable travel speaker and it is nearly as loud, but lacks the bass and fidelity of this system. The rechargable battery is a plus for the Boomtube as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Father's Day gift!
I bought the boomtube for my husband for Father's Day and he just loves it. For its size, the sound is terrific and the portability is great. The bass is a little light, but overall he is completely satisfied. He uses it with his iPod and that connection was simple. We highly recommend it.

Editorial Review

A home theater speaker system that truly looks as good as it sounds, Mission's M-Cube 5.1 package is a must for the discriminating movie and music fan. The M-Cube system, which comes with five satellite speakers and a powerful 250-watt subwoofer, was engineered using distributed mode loudspeaker (DML) flat-panel technology, which combines wide-ranging acoustics with freedom in aesthetic design. As a result, Mission had the flexibility to team with British designers Seymour Powell to create a compelling cube-shaped housing that measure 3.5 inches in each direction. The compact speaker size is perfect for wall or ceiling mounting (three speaker brackets are included), or for placing on a bookshelf near the main listening area (Mission also included two attractive floor stands for the front speakers, which fit discreetly on either side of the TV). The headliner, though, is the elegant ivory color and the listener's choice of olive-, ruby-, or umber-colored fabric wraps. The wraps fit tightly around the sides, letting you tailor the speakers' design to your personal taste and furniture style.

Features

  • Aesthetically pleasing 5.1 speaker system with 5 satellite speakers and 250-watt subwoofer
  • Advanced NXT driver panels reproduce smooth, crisp, balanced audio in all directions
  • Sub's twin 8-inch bass drivers deliver rich, powerful low-frequency effects
  • Elegant ivory housing with choice of 3 wrap colors; includes 2 stands, 3 wall-mount brackets, and cables
  • Satellites measure 3.5 inches square; sub measures 12.67 inches square; 1-year warranty

5-0 out of 5 stars High end performance with new technology.
These speakers are ready to go right out of the box with everything you need to hook them up: cables, stands and wall mounts included. NXT Flat Panel tech sounds different than what your use to hearing, but in a good way.The "sweet spot" really is much larger than any sub/sat system I have heard. The difference is that the crossover is set much higher, over 250hz.So the sub has to play more of the mid and low range.I would say if your into heavy bass lines this is not your system. But the M-Cube sound is crystal clear and this system plays loud! You can't believe how loud these cubes go without distortion and the sub keeps right up.I recomend you follow the manual and give them a"break in period" of a week or so, because the sound did mellow a little bit.I left the radio on when I went to work. After that I let them rip. I purchased the Ivory color system and it goes fine with my siver components and Plasma,The color bands are kind of cool to change up the look of your room. What Mission gives you in the M-Cube is the best looking sub/sat system out there with high end build and high end sound. I have owned sub/sat systems from Klipsch, KEF, andB&W and while the sound is different from all of them,I'm sure I will have these a long time. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Best portable speakers system with one flaw
depending on your room size etc... id say this is the best of the best... if your looking for more watts go with the higher model of the boomtube...
3-0 out of 5 stars Mixed pleasure...
The look and style is great - so is the portability - it's easy to carry around BUT it kills batteries easily.Virgin needs to provide an AC power adapter - which is hard to find - but then this nixes the portability. The next solution is to get rechargeables. The other negative is the little latch to open the battery door - it's very hard to open the first time -you need like an eyeglasses screwdriver to pick at it and pop it out. I nearly killed the door the first time I loaded the batteries - which took me nearly an hour to do so (didnt have the appropriate tool). It seems like the engineer spent time on the sound - which is great for the price - but then gave up when designing the battery compartment. It's cheap so hey, you get what you pay for.Btw, forget about asking help from their service department - Virgin does not reply at all!

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this JUNK!
There is nothing to review. These are for the totally undiscriminating listener. No volume. Quickly wears out batteries. Full of static. Shame on Amazon for dunping this junk on their loyal buyers ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully and aesthetically pleasing to the eye and ears, but...
First of all, I would like to say that given the preceding reviews before me, I am in no way affiliated, coerced or paid by Mission to write this review. I did this just to let you know how I enjoy (or not enjoy, read on) these speakers for the last 1.5 years that I've owned them. And yes, this is my first official review on Amazon.com.
5-0 out of 5 stars Margot is Right on the Money
I worked overseas selling high end audio speakers like Infinity Kappa series, Mordaundt Short, Kef, Mission, Wharfedale and B&W. (I wanted a pair of those so bad I could taste it!).Oh yes, we also carried the 'high end' line such as Infinity's lower lines, Polk, the lower end of Klipsch and of course, Bose.
5-0 out of 5 stars Huh?
For the gentleman who "hasn't heard these speakers"...C'mon. Just another marketing robot for Bose Corporation, spewing out a "review" that's as accurate as the speakers he touts...which is NOT AT ALL!

Share your music while on the road with the Harman JBL on Tour portable speaker system, which features an integrated protective cover that slides open to reveal a pair of full-range speakers. The slightly curved chassis measures 7 by 1.4 by 3.5 inches (W x H x D) when closed. When open, the cover shifts focus to serve as a stand, pointing the speakers upward to produce optimal sound on a flat surface. The system is compatible with most portable audio players thanks to its stereo mini-jack connection, which hooks up to such devices as the iPod, iPod mini, and a variety of other MP3 players, CD players, desktop computers, and laptops. The JBL on Tour is also easy to control, with a touch volume pad that both manages the volume and mutes the sound when desired. The speakers also remember the previous volume setting once the system shuts down. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars confused
From reading the reviews the product weighs 14 oz and is tiny. from reading amazon's specs:
2-0 out of 5 stars Too Small
Do not be deceived by the photo this thing is tiny. If that is what you are looking very small low volume very portable I suppose it is ok but over price for what you get. I think $30.00 would have been about right. There is no bass response and for there size how could there be. I am keeping them but only because they are so small they might come in handy for hotel use only! The packaging is very cool but the fidelity is non existent.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice crisp clear sound
I got these for my laptop and mp3 player..have only used for the laptop so far..they sound really nice...theres only a few complaints...the sound doesnt go really high ...only to a medium range...also there is no bass or treble settings...and after a certain volume seem to really lose the bass effect...but for basic listening and light use ..nothing to fancy...they produce very good sound...and their JBL's. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellente product for the money!!!!!
This is one of the best speakers i have bought! , i first tried some portable ampilified speakers made by "ILO" i am assuming a walmart brand which worked for the first few days only(piece of crap) after buying and returning two of those , i finally splurged the extra 20 bucks at walmart for these, well i got more than what i payed for . These speakers are excellent , the sound quality is great also it has a great bass and i am a real stickler for bass, don't get me wrong your not going to get subwoofer type bass but it is beyond sufficent.the surround sound feature also works nicely!
4-0 out of 5 stars impressed
When these speakers arrived I was impressed by the quality, didnt feel really cheaply made, and came with batteries.I would've given a 5 star but it didn't come with an a/c adapter...but really if you need it for travel, batteries are more practical. When I plugged in my mp3 player and turned it on, the sound quality was way better than I expected.Last weekend I took it to the beach and it was just what I needed, compact with great sound. It is also great to listen to while I take a shower, it doesnt even need to be turned all the way up to hear it over the water. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars LIGHTweight and AMPle
After looking many hours for the right speaker set for my needs I settled on the Creative TravelSound 200. It is the lightest weight unit capable of delivering this quality sound. It won't blow you out of your seat, but is well suited for camping, hotel room or just out by the hot tub. Adaptibily to any player device with standard output plug, long battery life with universally available AA batteries and adjustible volume control all add to the versatility of these speakers. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good little speakers--but they are not great
Don't get over-excited by the great reviews here.
5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent buy
I'll add my five cents to the generally very favourable reviews here. I've had the XT1 speaker system for three months now, and carried it all around the Americas with me. It packs up nicely in the carrying case, plugs in with no fuss, and the sound is amazing for such a small unit -- clean and clear, and easily filling an ordinary-sized room. I also use them as my standard laptop speakers at home -- while they don't rattle the walls like some of Altec Lansing's larger bass-heavy units, they also connect directly to the USB port, so they don't have the terribly annoying static buzz and interference of many cheaper Altec systems that plug into the wall. One of the nicest computer accessories I've ever bought.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good things really do come in small packages
I've been really pleased with these speakers. Small but perfectly formed, they are beautifully designed and thoughtfully packaged with little velcro straps to hold each set of wires tidily in place and everything you need in one neat carrying case. Not having to carry a mains lead is particularly helpful as I travel to and from England and the US and am working towards being able to carry all my technology in one rucksack!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for travel
I have used my iMmini for 2 years now and it's perfect for travel and the sound quality is more than fine for my ears.Very compact and the fact that it also charges my ipod, means I don't have to pack the charger.Only problem I have is it doesn't like being dropped on a hard floor, go figure! Now, if the sound is turned up beyond half way, it cracks. So, I just ordered a new one at 1/3 the price I originally paid 2 years ago. Will give the broken one to my wife to use in her bedroom as she doesn't like the volume loud anyway.Besides, she's the one who broke it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Design / Limited Sound Quality

4-0 out of 5 stars Love my inMotion
It is great, but if you want to blast your iPod, it is too distorted.Otherwise it is great. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for Office Use
Like many other reviewers, I bought this unit with the intent of being able to play my ipod softly while working. However, there is not "soft" volume on this at all. If you're in a quiet office, it is much too loud to even turn on.
2-0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR OFFICE USE
Like many other reviewers, I bought this unit with the intent of being able to play my ipod softly while working. However, there is not "soft" volume on this at all. If your in a quiet office, it is much too loud to even turn on. Everything else about the iBoom is good and I'm keeping it because overall I am happy with it and will be able to use it on my deck, at the beach, or in the kitchen. But if your looking only for something for the office, do not buy this, look for alternatives.

3-0 out of 5 stars Volume issues
I bought this unit primarily to blast at tailgate parties for football games. It's fine for that sort of thing.Sound quality wasn't a big issue with me, I just wanted something to play my music loudly outdoors. However, when I took it to my office for background music, I discovered a problem:the volume won't go LOW enough. It goes from moderate to mute.Even at the lowest volume setting, it's still too loud for an office environment. If you're looking for something to sit on your desk and entertain you in your workplace, this isn't the product. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of MONEY!

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Garbage
Seldom do I find a product that is so bad that I only use it once.Unfortunately I bought it for an international trip and the return period was over when I got back.I offered to give it to the store to demo so that no one else would buy them.Don't waste your money.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent set of portable speakers
I purchased these sort-of as an impulse buy and I somewhat regret my purchase, though they do fit a certain niche.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, just a little overpriced.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great speakers, if you can get it at the right price...
The sound is amazingly good for speakers of this size, and the construction is solid. It can replace a cheap pair of computer desktop speakers (without subwoofer) anytime. It even comes with an AC adapter. The manufacturer's suggested price however was way too high.I got this discontinued model at 60% off, so I suggest you wait for the big discount when the current model is discontinued. If you can't wait, and your budget is limited, you might want to consider other models like the Creative TravelSound 200, which being a smaller unit, might has somewhat weaker bass.

4-0 out of 5 stars good speakers for the price
Sound quality is very good for the size.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very good speakers for your mp3 player!
Altec Lansing is known for providing good quality PC speakers for an affordable price. Now they have a hit on their hands in this portable speaker system for iPod or other mp3 player. The speakers are small, easy to carry, nice looking and most importantly sound very good. ... Read more
