Incredible value
I bought this boombox for a construction project where I didn't want to risk damage to a "good" stereo system.But this little Sony box sounded so great, when the construction was over I replaced my "good" system with this one and have had it for over a year with zero problems.I just can't believe what great sound comes from these simple speaker elements.It's amazing.Long live Sony engineers!

Very disappointed
I was looking for a small, no-frills radio/CD player and settled on the Sony CFD-S350 for its size, cost, and my opinion that it was one of the least ugly players at the stores I shopped.I've had it for six months and have been quite disappointed.The first thing I noticed was that the FM sensitivity was poor.My 21 year old Sanyo dual cassette player has a much better radio.Programming the presets was easy.

Only had it for 6 months and already it won't play my cd's, so now it's basically a very overpriced fm radio, with relatively poor reception on many stations.Very annoying.I expect more from Sony.This is the only Sony boombox I have tried.I have a Philips at home, which I've had about 8 years and still works like a charm. ... Defective Remote
I purchased the RCA RCD152 for my 94 year old Father for Christmas and the remote was dead out of the box. After returning the unit the remote worked for three months and died. So now what do I do for a remote? I would not recommend this unit unless you don't care if the remote fails.
Returned twice
Ordered two of these at different times and on both of them the remote died within a week. Really wasn't that impressed with the sound quality either and had to use the antenna to get good reception. Decided to try a different brand and went with the Panasonic RX-D27. The sound is incredible and the remote so far works great. Also, I do not even have too raise the antenna at all. This boombox is only about $15.00 more than the RCA and well worth the price.

Incredible
This is definitely the best CD player, which I have ever used. It is a great advantage as well that it plays MP3. The design is very stylish and attention-grabbing, the quality oif the sound is excellent and the price is fine. I am proud to be an owner of this player.

Best one yet!
This portable cd player is my 3rd Panasonic cd player in 5 years. All are of awesome quality with excellent sound but this one is the best one yet! The 3-D second stage sound effect is quit impressive along with the extra-bass+ affects. ( I only wish thay could have included "Train" another Panasonic innovation which vibrated the headphones with boosted bass, impressive man!) Controls are extremely easy to master and the overall size of this unit appears to be a little smaller than the Sony units and it has 3-time the features! I love the adjustable hand hand grip. If portable CD players don`t have this feature thay are pretty worthless. Would I buy another Panasonic portable Panasonic CD? Count on it!

Worth The Price!!
I knows the in-thing now are I-pods but for my convenience and simply because I enjoying listening to 60 and 70's folk and bluegrass, the Shockwave was worth the price. The delivery was fast, which didn't surprise me. The clarity is first rate. I've dropped it a few times (not on purpose) and found it to be a tough item. Some of the otheer comments concerning the earphones made me wonder if I would have to invest in some expensive extras, but I found that it won't be needed. Coby delivers more bang for the buck
This Coby product is the third of their product line I have purchased, and each time I have been impressed with what you get for the price.I needed a tape and CD player that was portable, and although it's no BOSE, it has plenty of good features and delivers what's promised.Excellent tape handling mechanism, and the CD on top has a secure button latch that actually works, unlike many I've seen.This is not for the serious audiophile, but for the rest of us -- buy it!

The cord is in the battery compartment.
The other reviews indicate that the cord is not with the boombox. I called the company and they tell me it is in the battery compartment.

Does not last...
CD player stopped working after two months of ownership, it was playing a cd and puff, that was her last one.Also, very troubling for me: I left the powercord at my sister's house and could not find a replacement at any of the usual shops; it takes a special fitted powercord. Dozens of portable players have either passed or failed in my house over the years. Especially when my two oldest children were teens and still living at home. The best I used was a PANASONIC SL-CT590 cd player. It came with Nicad rechargeable batteries and a charger that you plugged into the player from any convenient outlet. It had the best sound quality of all I tried. Battery life lasted for DAYS! It lived for about three years. Sadly, Panasonic discontinued this model. I was forced to shop for a replacement.

i finally got this model yesterday from circuitcity for 49.99. and i am like amazed. the sound quality of this player is awsome lol. even with the supplied headphones i am happy with the sound. there are 3 clearbass options- none, 1, 2,3. on all 3 of the bass options there was no distortion whatsoevere. also there is a equalizer that changes the sound of the bass and treble of the music. there are 3 options to chose from.- soft, active, heavy. i guess with this you can customize the way you want to listen to your music.. now the 15w thing is also cool because it seems to be the loudest thing i have ever heard from a portable music anything, even when the volume is on max there is no distortion whatsoever ( and this with the stock headphones). it was so funny that circuitcity was selling the psyc d-ne320 for 59.99 when that was last years model and this is the newwer model. this player is for more superior in sound quality, functionability and style as well. the orange and black of this model is interesting and pulls everything this player has to offer together. ... Good value for limited functionality
I purchased this player specifically to listen to music at my desk at work. For that purpose, it has exceeded my expectations for the price. The sound is surprisingly good with the included headphones. After several months of use, the player has yet to show any signs of "button fatigue" that I have experienced with other portable units. No AC adapter was included, but there is a DC input jack which works with the adapter from my previous player, a huge plus in my book.
Skip, Skip, Skip
I bought this CD player to listen to books on tape while travelling, so sound quality wasn't that important to me.I was pleasantly surprised to find that the sound quality was actually very good.However, this player skips with the tiniest of bumps. It's a great low-cost player IF you can keep it perfectly still.

This is a very elegant appearing player. The large center section is pearl-white, and the outer ring is silver-grey. There are many ways to play (all, group/folder, 1 track, shuffle (all), group/folder shuffle, bookmark, playlist, program (up to 64 tracks), intro (first 10 seconds of each track), repeat on/off).

Great Value for your money
I bought two of this cd-mp3 player, and they works perfect. Great sound and it reads cds w mp3 very nice. No skip at all. I recommend this product. I bought them at 20.95 and i made my sister happy with it;)

Wonderful Value
This is a great little portable. I use it in my car and love it to death. The sound quality is great, and the 120-sec skip protection works perfectly, In fact, in the two days I have been driving around with it (and I drive a LOT), it hasn't skipped once.

I do not normally buy electronic products that are not from older established brand names. but I was desparate to replace my five month old Panasonic SL-SX450 player which stopped workinga week earlier (I use it for jogging).This model seemed quite affordable and was well recommended. Using a different headphone the Coby MP-CD521 has good sound quality but the battery life is terrible (4-5 hours on Duracell).In my car the anti-skip protection is a joke.This product may be useful in the homes of stationary people.It is definately NOT for active people. ... Great device so far
I just got this and I really like it so far.The programming conrols are so intuitive that I didn't need to refer to the manual.Presets are individual buttons, which I really like.All controls are easy, obvious.Simple, basic, solid CD/radio at a great price -- exactly what I was looking for.I can't speak to durability, since I just got it.So far, I love it.I am replacing a Sony unit that was much more expensive and much harder to use and only lasted a year.(I used it indoors, on a desk only.)So far, I like this one much better (and I am a frequent Sony buyer).

I'm not the hippest kid on the block.I'd had the same CD player that I'd bought when my tape player broke.But like everyone else, I still download or record mp3's of all my favourite songs.I couldn't bring myself to plop down hundreds of dollars to get an mp3 player (iPod, etc), but carting around a handful of CD's and not being able to listen to mp3's was trying. OK unit, but picky with mp3 discs
I have usually ben happy with the Coby products I've owned in the past, but this one is a disappointment. I wanted to get an inexpensive boom box for my girlfriend to put in the kitchen that would not only play standard CDs but also mp3 CDs and had a radio and cassette recorder as well. The radio and cassette sections seem to do about as well as you'd expect for a boom box selling for $39.95. And yes, it seems to play standard CDs well, although it seems to not play the last track of some of them well. However, mp3 CD playback is very iffy. I have made over a hundred mp3 CDs, and some it will play and others, for whatever reason, it will start reading, then sit there and act like it's having trouble reading, then quit. It also seems it won't read certain brands of CDs I've burned. I don't understand why this thing is so picky. Despite this, I'm keeping the unit since I bought an extended warranty with it and it mostly does fine with its other functions. But I can only play some of my MP3 CDs on it. If you want something that seems much less picky, although not absolutely perfect, and you want something cheap and simple, try the Jwin JXCD472. I got one of those and that one seems to work much much better.
worth the money
This unit does everything it is suposed to do.Also plays wma and mp3.It plays cd-r that my other boombox Sony cfd-250cp does not.I gave it 4 stars because of analog radio and 2 wats /cannel and no remote.I owned for over a year and still plays all my cd-rs with no exception mp3 and wma.

The folks who made this system failed to advertise that there is a limit to how many songs the MP3 will play.I had a disc with over 200 songs on it, and the system will only repeat the first 100 songs at best.I wish I would have known this before I purchased it. Works well, but not very durable
All the electronic functions on this are fine, just what you'd expect from Sony.Where it fails is the hardware.Sooner or later the handle starts coming apart.Planned obsolesence or poor design, who can tell?If you never put it in luggage or your pocket, and and just hold it in your hand, it will last much longer.
The best I have ever had
I have not encountered any of the problems other reviewers have had. To prevent the screen becoming scratched, put a piece of clear Scotch tape over it. True, the strap is bulky, but you don't have to hold it; I loop it through my pants belt with the controls facing upwards, then I can control everything with one finger without even looking at the unit. I wear it all day long and love it. I have noticed that it is very complicated to enter programs into the memory, but I just keep it at the stations on MA, FM & TVthat I like the most. The station memories remain intact while you change batteries, and mine have always worked perfectly, irrespective of which disc I am playing. Perhaps I just get the good ones, but I am on my 5th one, having used and given away as gifts the others, which never failed to work perfectly, after being constantly bumped, dropped and splashed on. I cannot find anything else made by anyone else that comes near this quality. Keep your receipt; If you get a defective one, return it and try another. This is America! Way to go, Sony!

Great portable CD-MP3 player but....if it breaks after 90 days throw it away. Sony will exchange for a refurbished unit for $31. A new one is $40. Exchange warranty from Amazon may be worth it.

Have had this CD player exactly one year & it stops working.
Worked fine for a while
I got this about 7 months ago.It worked fine until now.Ticking sound all the time and now it is very picky about what it will play.Skips and stops! How in the world can it stop? I have a CD which plays fine on other players, but not this one. Amazingly, when I copied the CD on my computer, it will play the copy without a problem.Not acceptable.Needless to say, I'm going to replace it with another brand, probably the Onkyo DX-C390.
