5-0 out of 5 stars Pleased with everything about it.
I bought this for my wife for her birthday, and was a little worried about how she would like it as she is not very technically inclined. She loves it and has completely mastered the various features quite easily. The size is pefect for sticking in her purse or pocket, and the provided necklace is a much more convenient way to wear it than some of the lanyards that you have to buy in order to wear other MP3 players.512MB holds way more music than I expected and I am glad that I didn't buy the 1G as I am sure she never would have used all that memory. The rechargable battery is a big plus too It recharges off your computer through the USB, she simply plugs it into our PC everynight before bed and it is all ready to go the next day, way better than my old unit that requires new 'AAA's every month. She is so happy with it that I am buying another for myself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better Than Expected
Pros:
5-0 out of 5 stars One Tough Player!
I'm a runner and pretty tough on music players. When I recently killed my iPod mini (drowned in sweat!) I was looking for a less costly player that I wouldn't be as distraught when I enventually killed it.So I picked up one of these because the incredibly small size and built in clip.

4-0 out of 5 stars A handy emergency radio
I purchased this radio for my parents in Kansas who live in 'Tornado Alley' and often have to deal with rural power outages. This radio surprisingly picks up the local stations from deep inside the basement and has served well on the several trips into the tornado shelter. The batteries should definately be stored out of the radio, but overall it fulfills its niche to be used in an Emergency. The shortwave functions are very simplistic, but when you are sitting in the dark waiting for the power to come on or the storm and tornado to pass overhead, it is entertaining enough to spend time searching for the elusive shortwave stations.A good, compact radio useful in an emergency or for occasional use around the house.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey,I Forgot To Complain...
...because I gave this to my husband at Christmas 2005.I gave it to (us) as a gift in our coastal power outages in eastern North Carolina.I'm going to have to buy us a spare since he uses this as his barn radio every weekend. It cranks easily, has stood up to clumsy use and exposure, and brings in NPR from 75 miles away very clearly. In reading other reviews, it may work better in areas with less tower-power competition.Where we are, it is a wonderful rural hurricane radio in case you run out of batteries.
4-0 out of 5 stars For emergency use only.
Bought this 4 years ago and have used it twice during extended power outages.I knew that the battery life would decrease with use so I only use it when I have to.I think the problem with some of the people that are using the radio is that they are using it not as intended but as a cheap alternative to battery operated radios.Recommended for people intending to use this for emergencies only but not recommended if you intend to use it often as a substitute to purchasing batteries. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Almost exactly what I wanted
I've been buying tiny mp3 players to find one that does what I want. The problems people reported with the fast forward being slow can be changed in the menu system. This would have been a deal breaker for me because I record Howard and need to fast forward through commercials.I had come to the conclusion that I was keeping the unit until I realized that the device only APPEARS to be accessable directy from Windows. When you try to play a song from the device it copies it locally to your hard drive to play it.When it's a 2 hour show that's a major problem. What I really need is a thumb drive that plays mp3s and has a voice recorder.Looks like the machspeed trio is the only one that will do everything I want.
4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome MP3 player, extra features a little weak
This player is very simple and has a lot of great features. It probably deserves a 5 considering the price, but it's lacking in the recording area which is what I was most interested in.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value
This is my first MP3 player, although my daughter has the iPod shuffle, so I am familiar with that player.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great Tools
We used these radios on a Corvette road tour to the national convention in San Antonio.Had no problems, great response.Batteries appear to last more than a few days.

4-0 out of 5 stars Motorola radios, good performers
We use quite a few of the 5500 and 5400 series Motorola FRS radios. They all work together as long as everyone is on the same frequency (along with the sub-frequency). The AA and rechargeable battery versions are all compatible as well... you can buy the AA version and insert a rechargeable battery and it works fine. (Don't know if it works in reverse but it should). Sometimes the earbud jack gets broken inside (cheap weld) and the earbud won't work anymore. If looking for inexpensive accessories, look for generic aftermarket parts. Why pay $20 for a PTT Motorola earbud when you can get it for $5?

4-0 out of 5 stars Motorola T5500AA
In general, these two way radios work very well. We use them when we ski and for the most part we can communicate beter than using our older more simple radios. The privacy channels are great for when tons of others on the slope have radios too.

For those who like to slumber in style, the Tivoli Model Three is the ultimate wake up call. With an understated cherry wood exterior, and large, easy-to-operate controls, the unit serves as a lesson in simplicity for other manufacturers who insist on making confusing, user-unfriendly clock radios. Although we had a few quibbles with some of the features, as well as the performance, of the Model Three, overall we recommend it is a wonderful bedside companion.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The bright clock light can be dimmed if you're willing to open up the Tivoli
The radio is great. The 120-second alarm wake-up problem seems to be fixed. But the clock light is way too bright. Turning it toward the wall makes the wall too bright. It's more like a dim night-light.
5-0 out of 5 stars overall... wonderful
Both the sound and the overall design and tactile experience justify the overall price. I have had other clock radios, but none that I have felt such a connection with. From the lights, to the buttons, to the wood, let alone sound, the radio gives the impression of quality in every aspect. After seeing the radio, and hearing it, and using it, I can not imagine owning any other bedside radio. This, I believe, is the mark of a great product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful looks, rich sound, excellent tuning.
As a carpenter I can tell you that the wood cabinet that this thing comes in is worth a hundred bucks alone--the Tivoli is, without a doubt, the best looking clock radio on the market and it will continue looking that way with the occasional dash of Pledge or whatever Tivoli tells you to use on the cabinet.

Editorial Review

New electronics that resemble old electronics are all the rage these days. With a case that looks like it belongs in a mad scientist's laboratory, the Tivoli iPal is on the vanguard of retro style. In fact, the "Pal" stands for Portable Audio Laboratory--a cheeky reference to the unit's obvious Geiger counter-inspired design. Fortunately, the iPal does more than just look cool. When paired with an MP3 player such as the iPod or with a laptop, the iPal is a versatile companion that musters much better sound than we expected from a single-speaker unit. Tivoli is known for engineering small components with surprisingly good sound, such as the Henry Kloss Model One radio. The iPal proved to be no exception.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars if only...
First of all, the PAL does sound great for its size. I could end the review there and give it 5 stars. However, to me, everything is relevant and all factors must be considered when giving a review.
5-0 out of 5 stars iPal is my pal
This is a fantastic radio! The sound is great. It can be used wirelessly.I take it all over the house with me. It is a great size. The reception is perfect, I have never extended the antenna. It works well with my ipod.It was a great purchase. It was hard to find in a store, we finally purchased it from Tweeter, but we had to go to a few of them.I don't know why this little guy isn't sold everywhere. If you are looking for a great radio with perfect sound this is the one for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Splendid device
I have a couple of table radios from Tivoli that I like quite well.I also very much like the comparable model (which I also have) from Boston Acoustics. As for the PAL, this is something I bought specifically to have a portable, self-contained device to play audio from my laptop from in presentations.(It also works very well to plug in any MP3 player the same way, but stereo-mini to stereo-mini plug cable.)The sound for music is not quite as good as the Inmotion IM3 which I also have and use similarly, but it's as good or better for audio in general, ruggedness, and loudness for presenting in a room. The radio is also superb, and the volume controls apparently in use on the PALs appear to me to be better in quality than on the table radios that Tivoli makes (where the volume control has a very sharp ramp up in loudness and is harder to regulate well for lower volume listening).Yes, I'm a geek.

I was mislead myself. hope this helps

1-0 out of 5 stars Item not as pictured!!!
The item ICDB300 I received was not as pictured. I received something entirely different than the ICDB300 that was pictured. Not sure if it was an earlier model or what. The item pictured showed it had a stereo mode and the model I received was a cheaper model that I could have bought at Walmart for $4.00 more. I was disappointed but I needed it for work so i kept it. I felt i got screwed and that amazon put up a picture of a different higher priced model. When i placed the order it showed it was in stock, after i paid for it i recieved and email saying it would be shipped approximately 2 months after the order was placed. It did arrive in 2 weeks though. Not sure what to think of amazon. The item and shipping was way off of wack. Not sure i can trust ordering from amazon again.........not sure what i will get or when it will arrive.

3-0 out of 5 stars just OK
I wear these to football and hockey games to listen to the game details on the local radio station. For that it is fine.
1-0 out of 5 stars not worth the $40
I recently bought my second of these. The first had a digital tuner. You had to get used to the feel. After about a year of use, one earphone went out. The one I just bought has an analogue tuner, and it is extremely hard to get any station other than the very high-powered pop (and around here, country) stations. The tuner requires extremely small movements to move way up the dial. I can't believe Sony is charging $40.00 for this cheap piece of junk.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lacking common sense
As said before, the idea of having clear reception on wireless headphones is a brilliant idea. However, it seems that Sony lacks some precious common sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great device so far
I just got this and I really like it so far.The programming conrols are so intuitive that I didn't need to refer to the manual.Presets are individual buttons, which I really like. All controls are easy, obvious.Simple, basic, solid CD/radio at a great price -- exactly what I was looking for.I can't speak to durability, since I just got it.So far, I love it.I am replacing a Sony unit that was much more expensive and much harder to use and only lasted a year.(I used it indoors, on a desk only.)So far, I like this one much better (and I am a frequent Sony buyer).

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully simple radio with a big sound
Finally, I've found an alarm clock that sounds great, and isn't a pain to set.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simplicity defined
The beauty in this radio is not only how it sounds, but how nicely it is engineered. They went out of thir way to keep it simple. Only buttons that are essential to it's operation are inlcuded. Once your presets are in, you don't even have to hit AM/FM. Just twist the left knob, and your all your stations pop up instantly. The alarm buttons are minimal and do exacty what they should (even if you're half asleep.) There is even a gently blinking light to let you know that the snooze is "cooking". That feature alone is woth the asking price.
3-0 out of 5 stars They added an aux in jack ... but
I think pretty much everything has been said already about the sound quality and other functions.

Any kid could figure out how to use this, which dosen't say much for us adults. I did manage after some playing around to see how easy it really is. It will do folders so you can drop whole albums straight from your PC or single songs if you like. It will show up as an external drive even without the software which I have not even loaded. While the WMA files I am using save space even at the highest quality they still sound slightly compressed, this tells me the unit will give you all the detail in the music you need. It seems durable as I have droped it and it still works fine. The battery life is slightly less if you play it at high volume, If you run it into a sound board you will need the extra drive, also if your headphones are less efficent. Overall the best feature is it plugs straight into your USB with no cables. This is a good unit I fit seven complete albums on the 512 I think I need a 1g now. Have fun!
1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this.
This came dead out of the box. Firmware upgrades and reformats do not fix it, all you have to do is google Muvo TX and see how many other people are having problems with this piece of garbage. Creative will also refuse to refund your money and instead try to get you with a 40 dollar credit. This product is defective end of story, search for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb value!
I own 4 different generations of the Muvo devices.I started with the Muvo FM 256 for use[...]Loved it in everyway. So much that I bought a Muvo 128 on sale somewhere for my son to use. Then, I bought the Muvo FM 1 Gb to get more room and then bought the 512 when I saw it on sale as a backup.Only 1 drawback I can see, the sound isn't as loud as I would wish it to be, but hey! It's only got 1 itty bitty AAA battery... whadda ya' expect?15 hrs of playing time is worth the tradeoff and the thing hardly weighs more than a pack of gum.

3-0 out of 5 stars CD player went bad immediately...No Disk error
I loved this unit... the size, the sound, the footprint. And the name SONY. But just after a few times, the CD player went bad. Now, when I put in a disk, I simply get a "No Disk" error. It has become a Radio-Tape boombox, no CD.Very disappointed. Then I went on the web and found others have been having this kind of problem with other SONY units and bemoaning the loss of the once revered SONY quality.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very good design, quality; sounds a bit bassy on cassettes
The Sony CFD E100 rates say 4 stars for my purposes*; for others', it might rate 5.

4-0 out of 5 stars Students beware
Even though there are some GREAT features on this device, one of the main drawbacks is the microphone. It is located on the right and left sides of the recorder but there are holes for the microphone on the FRONT AND BACK. The recorder is far too thin to stand on end unless it's a perfectly level surface that doesn't move at all. Unless you want to sit there holding the recorder in your hand straight up (which is what I've been doing and don't mind), do NOT get this recorder. Laying it down on your desk or notebook puts the microphone holes in direct contact with your notebook or desk surface. Any sound you make on the desk will be picked up. Also, since it is laying down, half of the microphone is essentially covered, you will have a harder time recording the lecture. Another thing very much worth mentioning is the record time. The product description states that it can record up to 68 hours on LP. On this speed, you will not pick up anything unless you are speaking into the recorder with it mere inches from your face. I leave the recorder on its highest quality setting (HQ Stereo) at all times but I only get just under 9 hours of recording time.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good device, but eats batteries
I have two of these devices, one for each teenager. They record well, although holding it while recording introduces extra noise. They function like any other USB thumbdrive and MP3 player as well, no problems there.
1-0 out of 5 stars Hisssssssss
I bought this and returned it the same day. Static hiss is the problem. When recording in a silent room, the created file has a large amount of quite loud static/hiss. The voices were recorded quite well, but I found the amount of background hiss simply unacceptable. Very dissapointing as the recorder worked well otherwise. Note that I also used an Olympus ME51S microphone, the hiss was present whether it was used or not. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Versatile, compact, and easy to use, the Uniden BC72XLT handheld scanner offers a simple way to monitor the "action" bands, including police and fire channels (including rescue and paramedics), NOAA weather transmissions, business and industrial radio broadcasts, utilities, marine and amateur (ham radio) bands, air bands, and more. In short, the scanner keeps interested parties in the information loop. Of course, scanning the 32,000 available frequencies can be time-consuming and frustrating, which is why Uniden added such functions as Close Call capture technology, which instantly tunes to signals from nearby transmitters to help you detect and identify local signals, and a comprehensive memory that holds up to 100 programmed channels (10 per bank).Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Will not keep a charge/goes through batteries
This is a great scanner, easy to program and operate. The only draw back I see is, it will only run for an hour or so on batteries. It is a great scanner if you are going to have it plugged in all the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy, Addicting, Exciting, Surprising!
I bought this scanner to use at the Bristol Night race in August 2006.I fully expected this unit to do well as a race scanner, but was pleasantly surprised to find out it is a tiny powerhouse of excitement!I turned it on and easily scanned right into the local police bands and immediately got into some action! Then I scanned the "air" frequencies, and got some air chatter from a small "shuttle" plane coming into Tri Cities Regional Airport.
4-0 out of 5 stars A good scanner
This is the first scanner i have ever owned, and I must say its a good scanner. I bought it to listen to railroad communications mainly. I do listen to local police dept's (3 of them) and they all come in clear. I would say its a great scanner and the programming is not THAT hard, but it does take a little getting used to. Also, the antenna that comes with it can prove a little useless everyonce in a while, but i think thats with most of the scanners. So, if you buy a good antenna for this thing, it will work GREAT. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Maddening
At first I loved this thing, but if something goes wrong, good luck.Last night I hit the wrong thing and fast forwarded to the end of a program.I could never get back to that program and ended up totally lost and with my information upside down.
4-0 out of 5 stars Warranty Sucks
I liked the price. Good buy for the money. I called to get replacement because it kept turning off for no reason. Was told that I had to send $24.95 in order to get it repaired or replaced even though it was still covered under warranty. Maybe it's just me but, doesn't sound like much of a warranty. Check the replacement/repair warranty before you buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy This MP3 PLayer. Now!!!
I had to pay Creative back in some way for making such a great mp3 player--so I decided to write this review. I bought the player for running and I'm very happy I did. I liked the fact that it came with an armband and cost a lot less than the Ipod that all those suckers at the gym are sporting. The thing is--you don't even need the armband. The player fits into a clip case that you can attach to your waistband--run the cord under you shirt and you don't even feel the thing even when you're running hard. I save my mp3s at a higher quality (I think 192 compared to 128) so I fit about 5 albums on--but you could probably do twice that in WMA. I like to change the content often and it's a sinch.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sony Kitchen CD Clock Radio
The product was easy to install and works as expected. The sound quality is good, but not great. We use it a few times a week, but mostly for talk radio as it's not really a HIFI system.Still, the sound is pretty good. The remote is a nice option.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Kitchen Clock Radio
This item is simply amazing. It is so slim and sleek and fits right under the cabinet. It was easy to install, has the CD option, which is great.. AND.. a remote. The Sony name, at this affordable price, who could ask for more? And at this very affordable price.. it makes a great gift too.

2-0 out of 5 stars Christmas Gift
I live in an urban area with generally good radio signals. The radio reception for this system is very poor. The AM antenna is internal and the power cord acts as the FM antenna. The reception is horrible. The unit does not accept an external antenna, so options are limited. All other features of the system work well but the radio is unusable. ... Read more
