Editorial Review Palms Zire brand is designed primarily for consumers rather than for professionals. The first Zire was a low cost, entry level machine, this one, the second in the range, is a multimedia extravaganza. The most eye catching feature of the Zire 71, after youve noticed the sleek rounded blue casing for the hardware, is the built-in digital camera. Read more

I may not be the best judge
I may not be the best judge of the quality of this PDA but i upgraded to it from my Palm Visor. It seemed easy enough to use and the camera feature was what drew my attention THE MOST! I loved this palm it remains my favorite long after its untimely demise (my dog stepped on the LCD screen! *cries*), i even tried to find on shortly after but no where could get me one as quickly as i needed it. So i was stuck with the zire 72. Its ok, the camera quality is MUCH better on the 71, and i miss it greatly but 118 bucks to replace for an identical or 120 to fix, just wasnt worth it. I loved this palm and would recommend it to any one! (Get the plug in keyboard too! Its awesome for college note taking!)
SUPER GREAT Zire 71
the zire 71 is a great palm. i love it. it has a great battery life, and a high res. screen.(360x360) The backlight is great.the camera is amazing. also the camera has 3 different resolutions.(160x140, 360x360, or 650x480) the mp3 player is great. sound quality is awsome! I hope you get one!
It's great ... but I'm still disappointed
This is the slickest pda I've ever owned. I bought it 2 years ago because of its great color screen. My eyes are a little weak and the hi res color is so nice! That it has a built in camera was just frosting at first but I find I use it all the time now. So why am I disappointed? You can't put the darn thing it its case without it turning on and running down the battery. I don't like carrying it around unprotected or banging in my pocket. And I don't want to add to the size and weight by getting a clunky box to put it in. I know this makes me a dinosaur but I actually like the original palms the with their tough plastic case and flip top. Of course the screens were so bad I couldn't read them. Oh, well...

great first palmpilot!
the palmone m130 is a great palmpilot but if youve EVER owned a pda its basicly the same old same old with color and a sd/mmc slot...
Defective power switch, battery won't hold charge
I've had 2 model 130 Palms- neither was of very good quality.
Never Worked
I started out w/ a Palm M100 "back in the day" and loved it.I then "inherited" my brother's Palm IIIc, which I liked even better.Basically b/c it was color.

Editorial Review For the technophile who refuses to see the world in black and white,Palm has created the Palm IIIc handheld--a color version of the company'simmensely popular Palm III handheld. Measuring 5.06 by 3.17 by 0.67 inches andweighing less than 7 ounces, the Palm IIIc handheld is one of the smallest andlightest full-color handhelds available. Reliable
I've had this thing for at least 3 years and it just works. It does what it's supposed to and rarely locks up (usually because of some weird software I've downloaded for it) -it's easy to use, the battery has held up...I've dropped it on hard tile floors from 3 - 4 feet up and it hasn't broke yet.I have absolutely no complaints.
3 1/2 Years of Day in and Day Out Use
The Palm IIIc is by all accounts a dinosaur by today's PDA Standards. But there was a time when this was leading-edge PDA technology.Back in 2000, this was Palm's first entry into the Color PDA market (using a Palm OS). In fairness, the market and technology have truly now headed to pace where most consumers can't even keep up. However, if you aren't interested in having the latest/greatest technology, the Palm IIIc may be a true bargain if you are looking for solid PDA technology.
Still a solid value
Great, with one caveat: *very* hard to find replacement batteries nowadays -- you will eventually need one. There is only one place I know where you can order it (cheap, only $35 for a lithium ion rechargable): Read more

Rock Solid
I bought my Palm Vx for six dollars at a thrift store a year ago and I've never had a problem with it. I own a IIIxe, an m500, and a Handspring Visor Deluxe, and the Vx and the Visor are my favorites. The 3.5.3 OS on the Vx seems to be rock solid-no crashes or freezes. The construction also is very solid. It was made in the USA, which I suspect is the reason for the high quality. Beware of PDA's made in China! The case on my m500 (made in China) became loose not long after I bought it and when I tried to tighten the screws they just stripped. I also get good battery life on the Vx, about a month per charge. With all the problems I read about concerning the latest generation of Palm PDA's, I can't help but think that Palm peaked with older models like the III series and the Vx. You really can't go wrong with the Vx, especially at today's prices. You'll have a reliable PDA with enough memory to add plenty of applications and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Tip: if you want the Notepad app on your Vx (or older Palm), download Notes! 1.1 for free at palmgear.com.
Crashed three times
I don't see why this item is getting good reviews. It's crashed three times, losing everything. Now the battery won't completely charge.I never could get it connected to the computer.Makes me wonder about Palm.
Still worth it
In 2005, there are a lot of PDA called Pocket PC, but when you look at palm Vx, you will love it. You are able to put it in your suit or handbag and its glass screen provides you a crystal clear writing. I only need a PDA that take care my telephone list, my personal finance and bible reading. I don't need to listen MP3 or watching DVD on the road, and this palm just meet my need. You will love to carry it with you everywhere you go.

Editorial Review The Palm IIIxe handheld builds on earlier Palm III models by offering more memory and more options. Its 8 MB of RAM (four times the memory of the popular Palm IIIe) and 2 MB of flash ROM keep track of all your appointments, memos, to-do items, expense items, and e-mail, plus you can add thousands of third-party applications. Although the Palm IIIe and IIIx models have ample memory for many users, the Palm IIIxe better supports users who rely upon their organizer for data-heavy operations. Read more

Might be nice if it worked
I ordered this from a reseller, cg_enterprises@tds.net. The unit arrived without a cradle to charge it. I emailed the reseller and was told it would be sent overnight. Four days later it has not arrived. When I contacted the reseller again, I received the following professional response: "Bite Me!".
long time user..
I still use my palm IIIxe.. bought it in 2001 from Amazon.Actually this is my second one, my first one bit the dust, so I bought a refurb for $39.00 and it synced up with the 4.1 OS... it is great for addresses and calendar + todos... I also type memos with a keyboard when I'm in the field. Also this is used daily from am to pm... at night I dl avantgo and read news from the otherside of the world before bed...
Quality But No Frills PDA
I just bought this PDA used from Amazon and I'm pretty pleased with it.It's not color which I don't care about, but I am having a bit of a hard time seeing the screen well.I have had a terrible time getting it to synch correctly with Outlook and I couldn't get it to synch at all with Palm Desktop 3.5.3.No clue what the problem is, but after 2 hours trying to figure it out, I just gave up.I use Outlook Express, not Outlook and it took a lot of trial and error, but I can get it to synch names and addresses, but I can NOT get email to work since i don't use Outlook as my default mail handler.So..if that fits your situation and you want to synch for email and download from AVantgo, then do not buy this. However, I just want it for names and addresses to replace an old trusty Sharp Wizard that they don't make anymore.I really loved my Sharp though. What i like about the Palm IIIxe is that it's battery-operated (2 AAAs)- i honestly don't even fathom why people complain about this feature - they're nuts. The battery operated PDAs are the way to go because they can last forever in your purse and you don't have to remember to charge it.If the battery is dead while you're on the go - just run to a convenience store and buy AAAs.That simple. The Palm IIIxe seems pretty sturdy, but we'll see in the long run.Either with Palm or Sharp, this beats carrying around a paper and pencil organizer. The person I bought from on Amazon was great and honest too.

Mine Died
My Tungsten T# just died.It is in a forzen state. It will not reboot or even turn off.It is just over a year old and I am now looking for a new PDA.
Palm T3 disaster
I was about to write my miserable experience in agonizing detail, until I found that others have traveled the same path. It is a pity that a product that has come so far was (in my case, also) mercilessly deserted by its maker in the clinches - in this case a hotsync failure that eventually destroyed not only the data stored in the handheld but also the backups of those data that were religiously placed on the "official"
Still a great PDA in (almost) 2006
If you're in the market for a PDA designed with the businessperson in mind, here are some reasons why you may still want to consider the T3 as we approach 2006:

Almost 2 years and (almost) no problems
Minor problems, but very good so far. Had a Zire71, moved up a little. This one should have a shrine built if it ever dies.
A LEMON
I bought a Palm Zire72 back in April, 2005 for $299.00 and it has proven to be money down the drain.I experienced the screen freezing up on me which required a hard reset procedure thereby resulting in a loss of all information.I sent it back for repair around August, 2005.They returned it, supposedly repaired, and I experienced the same problems with it after this first repair.Around May, 2006, it was sent back for another repair and I am again experiencing the same problem. The previous two "repairs" were done at no cost to me.The company now says that they will repair it at a cost to me because it is out of warranty. The company, notwithstanding the language of its warranty, should, in my opinion, stand behind its product. The product has proven to be unreliable and a headache.Be forewarned.I rated this product with one star because there was no lower alternative.
Terrible! Don't waste your money.
I bought the Zire 72s as an upgrade to my previous black and white Palm that I had no problems with. It has been nothing but a lemon since I got it. Often when I turn it on it has lines going across the screen and has to be turned off and then on again to get rid of them. The graffiti is terrible and rarely works. I have to reset it all the time. Customer support is terrible and did nothing to rectify the problems. I even sent it to them at one point and they sent it back in exactly the same condition I sent it to them. I don't think they even looked at it. After my experience with this Palm, I will never buy Palm again.

Design Flaw
I received this as a gift over one year ago.I did not put it to use at that time because the screen is hard to read... and my Palm XIIIE was working perfectly.Recently, I bought a new computer which did not have a LPT ports so I decided to use the Zire which synchronizes via USB.The big problem is that it is uncompatible with my cell phone. If my cell phone rings all data in the handheld is lost.According to Palm Support they should not be close to each other, not easy being a female who carries both products in the same bag.I never had a problem like that with my previous Palm.
Very good value for its price
Best feature is the Note Pad application, you can scribble on it just like writing on a post-it note and can save it.

don't trust it to not crash before your next hotsync
I have been using this for years and have found that I can never trust it to keep any new info.Taking it on the road and relying on it to not crash is prohibitivly risky.I stripped out all 3rd party software including avant go and only use the bare basic calendar, phonelist and notes and still find it crashes WAY too frequently, needing a reset that wipes out everything in its memory untill my next hot sync.Much as I like the functionality that it was designed for, I'm sick of this piece of crap and am searching hard for a reliable PDA.
Completely Worthless!
After owning my palm m515 for 6 months, it stopped charging.Of course this happened when I was traveling, so I lost all the new information on had entered during my trip.Luckily I was able to reload the old information which I had on my computer.Since it was still under warrenty, I was able to send it back to get a fixed one in exchange.A year or so later, it just stopped syncronizing for no reason.I refuse to pay to speak to a Palm representative, and their website is indecipherable and holds nothing helpful.Palm is only interested in having you buy, but they are definitely not interested in keeping you as a customer. The company is completely worthless!
Great Handheld for Students
I bought myself a Palm M515 after I destroyed the screen on my M100.I have been using the M515 for three years and have had no problems whatsoever.Any student interested in a Palm handheld should give the M515 serious consideration. This device has proven very useful in tracking homework, projects, and tests.Only complaint is no wireless capabilities without the use of Palm's bulky add-on modem (Nearly every school has their own wireless network).

Editorial Review Palm handhelds have succeeded because they're small and lightweight but hold a surprisingly large amount of personal data. The Palm m105 handheld expands on those essential features by offering an organizer that's smaller and lighter (4.4 ounces) than most others while remaining packed with 8 MB of memory, so it can do much more than just store your calendar or addresses. It's Okay
This was my first experience with a PDA. It was really cool at first because I just started college and I didn't have to deal with the messy paper organizers. I grew to dislike it because I had to change the batteries left and right. I didn't much care for that. The thing kept crashing on me, I grew tired of having to plug everything back in. It's okay for the price you get. I would recomend this if you haven't had one before. It can get the job done if you fon't want bells and whistles.
Works great as long as you don't have to change the batteries
I received my Palm m105 as a christmas gift a few years ago.It worked well for my needs at the time.In recent months I have been using it alot more which therefore resulted in more changes of the batteries.Every time I change the batteries I have to sync up again. All of the additional programs I have loaded on have to be reloaded again after every battery change.I also lose some programs and have to completely reload them.... For that reason I am buying a new PDA, one with a rechargeable battery!
Quailty
It's cool... Expect it only has 8 mb, no card slot B /w screen non-rechargable batteries but that's convient Because no charging required. Just install and go. Trick: install 1 battery to avoid data eraseure. Most of the specs reek pretty much.

Ok for a beginner, but lacks in advanced functions
Pros-
most reliable and battery efficient palm I've ever used
I have had a zire (bought it open-box off of [...]) for about 2 years and it has performed admirably. While this palm has some very well-known limitations, it has (and is still doing) everything I need it to.
Unreliable
I need a palm to have my calander and address book on hand at all times. This model proved to be extremely inefficient. The lack of backlighting meant that often I could not see what was on the screen and it's memory would empty from one moment to the next. I would be stuck with no calander or address book. I contacted the company by email and the only advice they had was to keep the Palm seperate from my cell phone. This I did, to no avail, the Palm continues to discharge it's memory.

Palm did a good job with the T2
The tungsten T2 is not perfect but it is good enough that I rely upon it.The software set up can be somewhat confusing.I recommend getting the latest software and downloading it.You get a better desktop.Keep disks because if you want to add some of the optional features such as reading photographs, you need the disks.I upgraded from my zire 31 (which I purchased new and it does have a faster processor) because I wanted the voice recorder. The voice recorder works most of the time but I frequently do need to do a soft reset to get it to work.Have not figured out any rhyme or reason.I have used the voice recorder to connect to my Dragon NaturallySpeaking-I dictate into the palm pilot and it transcribes into my Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The quality of the transfer is pretty low-I probably have 80 to 90% accuracy which may sound good on paper but one mistake in 10 is a lot of mistakes in a document. The tungsten T2 is not completely reliable but with backups onto my desktop it is a very valuable tool. The processor is sufficiently slow that if you are searching for things in the desktop using the find mode, you must disable searching through the documents or it will take all day. These units are sufficiently old that you can find decent used ones for less than $100.I recently connected a foldable keyboard which works nicely (no batteries or infrared-connects through the hot synchronization).I was tempted to get a T5 until I read about all the negative reviews.I will stay with what I have.
I love it -- and so will you!
This palm pilot is great for people on the go.You can put so much information and easy access!

PERFECT!
The m125 is deffientally worth it's wieght in gold. At my middle school, there has been a Palm Pilot craze, and at the same time, I found myself wishing for something to help me keep organized. I tried a paper panner, but it was too bulky and heavy to carry around all day. I was just looking for a simple Palm Pilot and found the m125. It was PERFECT!
A Great Palm Pilot
I was given an m125 as a gift to help me keep track of my appointments. I found it to be very useful, and the one I had worked optimally. It takes notes, has a calendar, lets me make lists, draw little pictures, play some simple games... it's great. And if I use it normally without playing games much (just to save info, which is the main use for it after all) the batteries last a few weeks, and it's no big deal to back up the data at the end of every day, just like I would charge my cell phone at the end of a long day. Palm, a Disappointment
I have been a user of PDA's for quite awhile.I have only owned Palm Pilots. The first one I owned worked fantastic, it was my life.I used it for appointments, directions, and a rolodex. It was my life blood.Somewhere, someplace, I lost that Palm Pilot.I figured I would upgrade and I purchased the new version M series.I got the M125.After awhile I could not set my time or date, I just could not press the lower left hand done button.I ran out of battery power and by the time I got back to my computer, or a drug store, for new batteries, the memory was wiped out.No problem if only I could set the date to coordinate my calendar with the true date.I looked on the web and found that it was a prevalent problem with the M Series. To replace the touch screen would have been $40.00.I purchased a fairly new M125 on eBay and sure enough, it had some issues. But I was able to set the date.I guess when I have the money to invest in a color screen like the Compaq unit, which I see is a flawless product, I will purchase it.

After throwing away my Tungsten E (total junk).A friend gave me his old Palm m500 which he never used.

i had a palm zire but it is to slow and frustrating.so i decided to get the m500 instead of the m505 which was a lot better choice because if you read the reviews for the m505 it has a lot more bad comments.Plus do you really need a color screen when you can just use a backlight.
Would you trust your most important data to this?
I owned a terrific Palm V which I dropped and destroyed by accident. Then I bought an m500. What a mistake. It has been nothing but problems.

Editorial Review When the Palm VII was first released, it garnered a lot of geek chic, thanks to it being the first handheld to include an integrated wireless modem. With more and more wireless handheld devices and peripherals entering the market (such as the RIM Blackberry and the OmniSky Minstrel modem for the Palm V), is Palm's wireless entry still a viable alternative? Definitely (but with a caveat or two). Read more

Too bad they gave up on it!
This was such an excellent handheld and the wireless was so easy to use. It's a shame they gave up on it, and thought that the wireless web abilities in my cell phone was a replacement. This is anything but the truth. The Palm VII could get email, news, weather, taxi cabs, book hotels, lookup information in an online dictionary or encyclopedia, and do so much more. The advantage was that these things could be done within seconds while driving down the highway, in the forest or wherever you were at.I used this thing very heavily when I was on a vacation in Florida and did so much that would take forever to accomplish with a GPS, cell phone or device with a web browser. The Palm VII lacked a browser because they are slow and take forever to get information over a device like this.
Good, but a bit dated...
I had one of these before replacing it with a Handspring Treo.If all you need is a PDA, and don't care too much about it being a mobile phone or not, this is a good unit. The screen is relatively easy to read, with a simple back-light option.Although its not color, the battery life is pretty good.Keep in mind that these units don't come with rechargeable batteries, so you will be using a lot of regular batteries here.I have seen some people hack the cradles for these to include a recharging facility, but its not stock standard.
Awesome technology!
I just ordered the Palm VIIx after going to Saturday brunch with a girl that brought her's along in order to check current movies listings and show times. She checked her email and weather reports (being that it was another rainy day in Seattle) and other stuff... I was utterly amazed at all that she could do from the breakfast table. As she was leaving to go to the bathroom (which lasted about 7 minutes) she said "go ahead and browse while I'm gone"... Seven minutes was all I needed to realize that I can no longer live without one of these babies... I went and purchased a Palm IIIxe from a local store and later realized that I did not have the same machine as her Palm VIIx. I really like the Palm IIIxe but since it does not have wireless internet, I decided to order one on Amazon.com at a much better price than local stores. I gave the Palm IIIxe to her daughter today and she was very grateful since she's never had her own PDA and her mother is always using her own. WORDS OF WISDOM - You can't be too critical of PDA's. I don't expect for it to do what a 1GHz Dell laptop or my dual Pentium III Xeon server will do... I only need the PDA while I'm out of the house or office and want to be able to check my email and surf the net until I can get home to my high performance machines.
