5-0 out of 5 stars Very easy to use.
This is a good recorder, and very easy to use. My son and I went through the instructions in about 10 minutes, setting the time, date, etc., and learning how to make and play back recordings. The sound quality is good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great quality but poor instructions
The digital recorder has a great quality and I suggest to anyone who wants one to get one. The only issue I had with the Olympus was when I tried to record on another folder, the machine would not record. It kept displaying the message "Full" and would not allow me to record. It promises 16 hours of recording but I could only get 4 hours. I had to erase important data to record new data. Again, great quality, poor features.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great quality for the money
This is one of the cheapest voice recorders, and it delivers!I think it would be good for any use such as school, interviews, etc.It has hours of recording time, which I don't think I need that much, but you can also index your recordings so it's easy to go back to a certain spot you want to remember. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars i love it
it arrived today and i was going through the manual testig it out. I love the features, and you can disconnect the baterry to insert the usb into the computer which helps save battery time. I played some songs from my computer and used a headphone to test the sounds as it records and it's great! I recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's Good, But Beware A Few Flaws
I bought this unit to replace a perfectly working Sony ICD-MS1, because of Sony's propietary file format. This unit records in WMA (Windows Media Audio), which makes it much, much easier to convert recordings to CD format or to MP3. However, I have a few misgivings about it, as follows:

5-0 out of 5 stars Battle of the Digital Voice Recorders
When it comes to buying a digital voice recorder, I like to try each one out and pick the best one.My primary use is for recording lectures.I initially purchased several Digital Voice Recorders.(3 from Olympus, 1 from Sony).Olympus wins hands down.(Tell Radioshack and CompUSA I'm sorry for returning...Purchasing for keeps Amazon has best price)
5-0 out of 5 stars worth every penny if you're serious about recording
i have this recorder and also have a ds-330 which i bought just 2years ago. boy, how digital voice recorder technology has improved! for the same price i paid for teh ds 330 i got this device which has better recording quality and more than 10 times the recording memory/capacity.i am a student and i use it to record my lectures at school. if you sit in the front row of class and use the Hq or stereo hq feature of this device, you will have no problem using this recording as a student. if you're serious about recording lectures, interviews or whatever else, you cant go wrong with this machine.
5-0 out of 5 stars I am very pleased. It is surprisingly good.
I read the above reviews was was a a little concerned. The unit is not low cost but a number of people thought it is not well made.

The advantages of digital voice recorders are numerous: superior sound, long recording times, and the convenience of built-in memory (much handier than hauling around several microcassettes). Enter the high-performance Olympus DS-2, which makes professional interviewing and dictation easy and efficient. With 64 MB of internal memory delivering up to 22 hours of total recording time in Long Play mode, the device is great for archiving long meetings or lectures, or for researching huge projects that require dozens of interviews. Users also have the choice of recording at several other speeds, including extreme high-quality modes that offer far less recording time (as little as one hour and five minutes) but much better audio resolution. The latter modes are more suitable for recording soft voices or when taking down complex song ideas--a process that's further assisted by the built-in stereo microphone designed to pick up all sides of a conversation with equal clarity.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More on Intel Mac compatibility
Actually, the DSS Player software that comes with this recorder does work on the new Intel Macs to transfer software from the recorder to the computer via a USB connector using the "Import File" command on the file menu.It translates to a wma file automatically, but won't do the translation to mp3 on any Mac as far as I can tell.I too have discovered EasyWMA, which works fine to do the wma to mp3 translation. There's also an application called Switch that works, too.
4-0 out of 5 stars Intel Mac Users Beware
The software that comes with the DS-2 (DSS Player) does not work on Intel Macs. They're working on a patch, but it's not expected to be out for a few months (it's late Sept 2006 now).

4-0 out of 5 stars College student must have, esp. with a Mac
I am a college student, and this unit is perfect for me. It was not terribly expensive, and definately saves me when I am going over notes from lecture trying to figure out what I meant by what I scribbled down. The quality is fine for me, Iectures are clearly heard, although I sit in the front of the class to pay attention. Backround noise is picked up, but I suppose that is inevitible.
2-0 out of 5 stars WMA *ONLY*
The unit works pretty well, but only supporting WMA (rather than MP3 or Ogg or some other non-Windows media format) would be nice.No point in buying it when there are other units that don't lock you in.

3-0 out of 5 stars Recording and listening
I bought the recorder and started using it.Relatively easy to use.Records fine but can't listen to what is recorded.Sound quality from built in speaker is bad.

I've owned my DS-1 shredder for a couple of months and love it.It features a strong motor and shredder teeth.I like the basket attachment which makes disposal easy. I'm giving the product 4 stars because it recently stopped working; only works in reverse.Manufacturer is sending me a replacement right away so they get a 5 stars for customer service.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
Just what I needed for my home office. My first use was to clear out a decade's worth of old financial papers.Over a few days, I generated three large garbage bags of shreds for recycle, which is the heaviest duty I'll ever need from a shredder. The DS1 never missed a beat. It's strong enough for what I need to do, and looks good doing it.

2-0 out of 5 stars background noice is too high to handle
background noice is too high to handle. I am not a newbie for using voice recorder. I got my first JNC one on 1999. That one was broken days ago. Frankly, my JNC is a lot better than this one on sound quality issue but a little bit cheaper. (I use ST mode, the best mode of sony, the background is still loud, also the file size per se is so dreadful to a 128M memory.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent pen-sized recorder
I got the Sony ICDSX46 -128 MD digital voice recorder to help me stay organized at work. I am constantly shifting between different clients/projects during the day and needed an easy way to accurately record the time I was spending on each. The Sony is small enough that I can keep it in my shirt or pants pocket without really noticing it. This means I actually bring it with me everywhere (one of the problems I had with other time-tacking methods).
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product!!This is the one to get!!
I had been searching the internet high and low for a digital voice recorder that would fulfill my needs -- a quality voice recorder AND a suitable device that would record instruments -- staying up late nights, spending hours on live chats comparing products, waiting weeks for e-mails back from companies about their recorders, and then I found this and took a gamble. And I won! This thing is amazing. The body is a little large to be an mp3 player, but, as another poster said, it's all about the recording. The piano recordings sound almost professional, and the internal microphone produces a better quality sound than my $150 external microphone that I plugged into it!!!My only qualm is that you must open a program in order to extract your recording and save it to your computer instead of the recorder simply opening like a drive, but after the first try this becomes a piece of cake.Regardless, this recorder packs many helpful features and is extremely flexible in different environments. There are many, many different voice recorders out there today, but this is one to get. ... Remember those handheld plastic label makers we all had as kids? You'd spin the wheel around and then clamp down when you got to the right letter (and you had to clamp hard to make a mark on that heavy-duty plastic strip). After you got your name out or made a message like "This is mine keep your hands off," you'd discover you spelled "keep" as "kep" and had to start over. Plus, the tape would invariably buckle and fall off wherever you stuck it.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Text fades
I was happy with this product when I first purchased it but now I want my money back. I used the labels to put my name and contact info on photo equipment (compact flash cards, lenses, cameras) but the text faded making the labels pointless. (And on a few items the labels started coming off) It's probably fine for other uses but the labels don't last on things that are in the elements and being handled on a regular basis. I've used a more expensive labelmaker in the past and haven't had a problem with the labels fading or coming off (and they looked nicer too). This is a classic "you get what you pay for" situation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nifty Little Gadget
This is a great label maker for its $19 price tag.I've seen this exact model selling for as much as $49, so this really is an excellent deal.Certainly not worth $49, but definitely worth $19.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Labelmaker!
The Dymo LetraTag is everything a labelmaker should be.It's easy to use, versatile, and prints labels that are easy to read and stay stuck.Since I got it a few months ago, I've been labeling everything that isn't nailed down. :-)I've used it to make labels for file folders, decorative storage boxes, and shelves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Does more than you think!
I really recommend this Sony ICD-P320. I gave it a workout and it worked great. I am really pleased with this unit. No complaints at all. I like the fact that the mic is on top of the unit and not on the side. That means you can put it in your shirt pocket with the mic pointed up, which means it won't be muffled. The Olympus did not do that. The record button is user friendly. It has 3 recording levels, and you need High Quality level for lectures in big halls.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sony recorder is a great deal for a reasonable price
I am a liberal arts student, and I purchased this recorder for two reasons+
5-0 out of 5 stars Digital Voice Recorder
I use this recorder with Dragon Naturally Speaking. It works seamlesslly with the with the software provided. I use a clip on microphone. The recording is good but I'm going have to train Naturally Speaking to understand the difference between what it hears when I dictate with the headset and that from the recorder. The accuracy from the recorder is about 75% compared to about 90%. Not fault of the recorder or their software.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value, works perfectly
This is a great little device, bought for my wife's business. It records conversations between two people perfectly at its mid-quality and we are still on our first batteries even after considerable usage. Others have mentioned difficulty loading down to XP but it worked for us exactly as per the instructions (we have XP Home). The lowest quality was not good enough to hear clearly on play back but the capacity on its mid quality is plenty for this not to matter. HQ is very clear. I would thoroughly recommend it, especially at this price

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 stars for the device; 1 star for the software+driver
This is an excellent recorder. Very impressed with it. It's very sensitive and picks up anything at a distance. Sound quality is quite decent. We use it to record our baby's sounds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome for college!!
No more buying, finding, or losing tapes for college classes. This awesome digital recorder w/ music player is very good.It comes with the software and usb cord to upload and save your college lectures on your computer. You can claim this for tax deduction as an educational expense.I used this digital recorder for my history class and it blocks out noise.Supreme sound from this small but powerful tool for college students. Sometimes professors talk too fast, you just wanna get what he said in his lectures. You forget the whole lecture. You can slow the lecture down on your computer by downloading it.I love it because it doubles as a music player too.No more buying cds or carrying a cd player and tape recorder.I download music from limewire for free and put it into my music player.

I spent a great deal of time reviewing similar products. This product exceeded my expectations. It is used for security and the sound is excellent. The battery life and storage capacity are a more than enough. The docking station is perfect. It does not even require software.Put the batteries in, set the date & time, and I was rolling.I highly recommend this product.

    5-0 out of 5 stars The Student's Side-kick
If you're a student and you don't use a DM-20, your missing out. This recorder can record, non-stop, right through those 4 hour summer classes in HQ.You can archive lectures to your pc, burn them to cd or upload to an ipod. How about using the software to edit out the dead spaces on the recording?Try that with a tape recording.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Slow Hands
I'm a journalist and this device has been an absolute lifesaver. In interviews, meetings, or simple voice dictation, the DM-10 is just slightly heavier (a definite plus) that Olympus's other "sleeker" models, but is certainly small enough to carry around in your front pocket. I've had mine for over two years, and it's used everyday, has been dropped on several occasions, and has never failed me. TheDSS Player software works on Mac, and is slightly awkward, but has never hindered the overall performance. I keep all important interviews and recordings on a backup hard drive, which is far more convenient and less space consuming than mini tapes.
    4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for preventing a student's writer's cramp
I bought this little recorder because I was getting writer's cramp taking notes for four classes. It easily holds a day's worth of lectures without a problem and picks up every word that's said, though some of the comments from the audience get lost. The microphone is quite sensitive; I accidently turned it on when I shoved it in my pocket, and it still picked up every single word. Amazing! It's quite durable and very easy to use; I download lectures to my computer every night, and there they are when I need to review.
4-0 out of 5 stars Olympus DM-10 Digital Voice Recorder
I used this recorder to record rehearsal sessions for a chorus I am in.Previously, I had used a much less expensive tape recorder, and this is so much better. There really is no comparison. There is no way to turn it off (I think), so you will have to replace the batteries after a month or so.I do recommend the Olympus DM-10. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars It's ok but...
I really like this so far. It's small, has great sound, more than enough storage space, and has some modes. My one problem is that I can't get the software to translate my words on to text accurately. That was the main reason that I bought this particular product...hopefully I'll figure out how to make it translate better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great IC recorder with voice editing and text feature
I received this Panasonic IC recorder with USB terminal on 8/11/06.I am a happy and pround owner of this IC recorder. This is the most advanced IC recorder I could have found at this price range of $53 to $60.My research paid off. It came with a detailed instruction manual, USB terminal, and voice editing software CD-ROM.This voice editing software can transform voice recording to text messages and can translate English to Spanish, German, Italian, and French and vice versa.
