2-0 out of 5 stars Save your Money
I am looking for a system to replace a Siemens 8825.
3-0 out of 5 stars I had higher expectations
I am an industrial designer, so I look pretty closely at features and design. I bought a 5.8 GHz phone because one of the other users has a very minor hearing impairment, and I was told that a 5.8 GHz will deliver the "best sound". I wanted cordless because I didn't want to be tethered during long calls.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good System...minus a couple of points
Had this system for a week now. Almost Everything is great. The only complaints is that I cannot get the caller ID to work on the 2nd line. Panasonic is no help...just a generic trouble shoot from them. The other item is the display of all the missed calls. Besides that it is a good system so far??? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great for our household
We have 5 of these sets and are quite satisfied with their performance. Good reception and the most-used features are intuitive and easy to use, plus the handsets have a nice heft to them -- not flimsey at all. Now if I can just get my husband to quit playing with the ringtones.

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY MISLEADING
Jan 2 2006
1-0 out of 5 stars misleading and confusing
I ordered the "md7001 2 line phone" Being a novice to this I thought I was getting a cordless 2 line phone. What I actually got was a 2 line handset that requires a base unit for it to work. This info should be prominently displayed in their description. I am returning it because I feel it is a form of deception to not properly describe the item in its main heading. It says DIGITAL CORDLESS 2-LINE PHONE. It should say DIGITAL CORDLESS 2-LINE HANDSET. After reading some of the reviews of this and their other products, I decided I didn't want Motorola crapola. ... A well-designed system for home offices or talkative family members, the Motorola MD7081 is built to handle two separate phone lines. Expandable to a total of eight handsets, the system includes a 30-minute digital answering system with two mailboxes. The base system is the only part that requires a phone jack, allowing you to add extra handsets wherever you like. Each handset can operate as part of an in-house intercom system, access conference calls and even function as a baby monitor; each also includes a headset jack and belt clip for hands-free operation. 1-0 out of 5 stars S-l-o-o-o-w
Others have commented on the major weaknesses of this phone, but I'll add my own pet peeve: everything is so bl**dy SLOW! To scroll down through the phone book feels like click-pause-click-pause-click-pause.... Each handset defaults to private phone book use, so to switch to the shared phone book involves a couple of button-pushes, each of which takes ages to respond. And don't try getting ahead of it: your button pushes may or may not be recognized.
2-0 out of 5 stars Needs Significant Improvement
I replaced a Siemens 8825 with the Motorola 7081 and was, unfortunately, really disappointed. The 8825 while rich in function, is quite lacking in quality. So what's good about the 7081 is:
4-0 out of 5 stars Great system, with just a few issues
I replaced all of the 'phones in my home with one base unit and 4 handsets. I love the fact that I can place a fully functional 'phone with access to both of my 'phone lines anywhere there's a electrical outlet. My 2nd 'phone line is wired only to my home office, so I placed the base unit there and now I can pick up the 2nd line anywhere in my home.

An additional handset for expandable 5.8 GHz Panasonic systems, the KX-TGA570S is compatible with both the KX-TG5771S and the KX-TG5761S system models. Like the base systems, the cordless handset utilizes 5.8 GHz Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum technology, meaning that it operates on a different wavelength with much less traffic than the 2.4 GHz technology while maintaining the great security, incredible clarity and long range. Have a wireless computer network, or thinking about getting one? 5.8 GHz technology will not interfere with wireless networks such as 802.11b or 802.11g WiFi.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Where has quality gone?
Works fine, looks and feels "cheap."Very few cordless phones with speaker on handset that are wall mountable? Why?

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Many Choices.
With most of the available two-line phones now being sold as console units that will support many cordless handsets and built in message features, I wanted a plain old, stand alone, two line phone.Like the old record turntables, most of the big manufacturers still offer one or two choices but the pickings are slim.I decided to chose Panasonic based on a mostly positive experience with their products over the years, but it is not a great phone.Good phone, yes.It can be staticy and not so clear from time to time but I always get a signal. The operation sequence for managing the incoming calls has you push one button and the phone will answer what ever line is comming in.This system does not perform well with "call waiting".I still don't have it down yet.Fortunatly most people call back if I cut them off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone for the money!
I have had a V-Tech VT202431 Two-Line Digital Speakerphone, 2.4 GHZ phone system for about 3 years now and no problems with reception or the battery which is surprising. Considering, I have bought similiar phones that were more expensive and they ALL have had the batteries replaced or they have had horrible reception. This one is just simply the best phone I have ever had. I bought this VTech 20-2481 2.4 GHz phone to go with my other phone. I am sold on V-Tech products. I have my parents and my brothers sold on them as well. They do make a great gifts.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weak Signal
This system used to work fine for the last couple of years I've owned it, but for the last 6 months it seems that the interference in the 2.4 ghz band from wireless computer networks has been too much for it. It no longer offers a clear reliable signal past a few feet from the base.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good buy - especially if you get a better battery
I bought this phone as a replacement for a Panasonic model which I have for many years with no problems. This phone has a lot of features for the cost, however, we have tha base in the second floor and the phone is used in the first floor - usually it is somewehe but in its base most of the day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprised to see negative remarks
I've had and used this phone system for the last 4 years and love it. I see comments about no mute, but it has a hold button if you want to carry on a conversation and not have the person on the phone hear. The answering machine and voice mail on each of the phones works perfectly. Collecting messages is easy. When someone leaves a message I have different hand sets set to react differently. If someone goes to my personal extension to leave a message, the phone system pages me with the phone number of the person who called so I don't even have to call my answering machine to get the phone number of who called (with caller id service enabled). I have 8 hand sets and use them as intercoms as often as I use the phone for calling out and it's great. During a power failure, the phone system continues to work for hours with careful use. I can set the extension in my bedroom to ring only when one of my 4 phone numbers is called, so I don't get bothered at night except by my family. It's not perfect; I have some problems with my extensive home networking system and the extension at the farthest point from the base and after 4 years one of my hand sets is starting to act weird when it rings, like late ringing or no ringing. I'm using this phone system with 2 standard phone lines and 2 VOIP phone lines. It was expensive and I hope it doesn't give out on me because I've never found another phone system that does all that this one does. I wouldn't give it up and don't know what I'd do without it.

3-0 out of 5 stars constant cordless breakdown/voicemail flaw
We've used this system with 3 cordless and the base unit for at least 4 years - maybe more. I purchased it for the auto attendant and cordless phones, which are a must for our car lot. One major flaw for us is when you transfer a call to another extension and that person doesn't answer, the caller is NOT forwarded to their voice mail - rather, they are sent back to the person that originally transferred the call.
5-0 out of 5 stars affordable, easy to use, perfect for small businesses!
We use this system with 2 cordless handsets and 4 corded handsets in a small law firm and it works perfectly. We have been using it for 2 years and have had no problems with battery life, reception or any features.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good system with durability issues
I have used the phone system for a couple of years. It is one of the best I have found for a small office in terms of functionality and sound quality.
2-0 out of 5 stars Great features; not so great durability
Phone has good sound quality in handset and speakerphone mode, great range from base station, easy to use presets and other dialing functions. However, many of the keys have already become somewhat lame. They now require you to press very hard; I have missed more than one call because the on/answer button simply would not respond no matter how hard I pressed it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good and not so good
This phone system met our needs perfectly (two lines, no messaging system, speaker phone, multiple handset capability) and from that point of view its been a really good phone. However, the keypads on the handsets have become problematic:you have to really press hard to get a number to register and when you do you often get multiples of the one number you're trying to type. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars A pan of Panasonic
I've had my phone for several years. The base unit audio quality is good, but battery life is about 20 minutes...even when replacement battary is installed. Use of speakerphone in base unit cuts off the phone. The second cordless unit works flawlessly; has a good range...but your callers have trouble hearing you...and many times you can't hear the caller. I continue to use the Panasonic because the AT&T system I had purchased before from Staples crapped out within two weeks...and the attitude of the customer service folks was disgusting...and the cost of repair or replacement was more expensive than the purchase price. At least the Panasonic keeps working.

3-0 out of 5 stars volume transmit problems
Hi, I bought this phone 2nd hand on EBay (I'm in Australia and you can't buy a 2 line phone here, new or used).
1-0 out of 5 stars Shame on Panasonic
Same problem with battery life as most everyone else, 5 minutes tops and it starts beeping for low battery. Run around and grab another extension for another 5 minutes. Started just a couple of months after purchase, and I did charge it per the instructions.I have 3 extensions, all doing the same thing. The worst thing about it is that this was not a cheap purchase and panasonic could care less.I will think long and hard before ever buying Panasonic again, it obviously doesn't stand for quality anymore. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Good features, poor quality.
The features of this phone are perfect, and worked very well for a few months. However, at this point the batteries in the handsets we have (2 of them) don't last more than a few hours on standby, and we cannot use either handset to dial a number because the digit buttons rarely work. This is typical of my experiences with Vtech products - I am done with this brand!

1-0 out of 5 stars FOR YOUR SAKE DONT BUY THIS PHONE
I HAVE ALREADY RETURNED 2 OF THESE THINGS. I bought the first one at target and it worked for about 6 months only to have the screen go dead. I recieved a replacement from vtech and less than 2 months later that screen went dead as well. Saving myself the time, hassle and money and buying a diffrent phone instead of calling vtech customer support again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst phone ever
Hard to dial.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great phone except for one problem
This is a great phone. It had all the features I was looking for -- 2 lines, conf, call waiting, call id, transfer, mute, headset jacks, volume, ringer on/off.The only problem is that you cannot turn off the ringer on the handset. If your talking on one line and another call comes through on the other, it rings loudly in your ear.I called Tech Support and you cannot turn this off -- only to hi or low volume (and 'low' isn't that low).If it weren't for this, I'd recommend it highly.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cannot recommend it
After less than one year, I am shopping for a new phone. The handset does not work anymore.I replaced the battery thinking that was the problem but it wasn't.When I click on one of the lines, there is either no sound at all, no dial-tone or anything OR it is just static and fuzz.2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good desk phone!
I bought this phone with the intention of using it in my home office. The caller-id function is very important to me.Unfortunately, the phone lays to flat for you to see the caller-id display or read the keypad. Also, speakerphone volume is really loud, even when turned all the way down.I am taking this phone back. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Skip this phone
The AC adapter for my phone just died so I call the phone number they plaster on the phone and on every manual. The recording says to email them or goto their website and then it hangs up.Why even give a phone number?I email them as instructed and the email comes back as not working. So I am still trying to figure out how to make a warranty claim.
1-0 out of 5 stars Seimens 8825 Gigaset system is junk
I was looking forward to getting this system for it's great features, but once I set this system up its been one moment of frustration after another. We began having problems with this system from day one.The cordless phone sound quality is horrible with annoying clicks and pops on all the 3 cordless phones that I purchased. The phones have problems with the redial and directory calling functions. It seems to have a problem not dialing the first digit of the calling number, so I have to manually dial the number EVERY time. This makes it useless for quick callbacks from either the directory or from the caller id list. The base system's LCD screen went out so that it displays only garbage on the screen. The cordless phones have an annoying intermittent contact problem with the chargers. They randomly begin beeping every 2 seconds until you slam the phone back in the charger.Calling their support people is a further exercise in frustration and gets me no where with this product. This is one of the worst and frustrating products I've ever purchased.Buyer beware.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on a Siemens phone system
It's unfortunate that one star is the lowest possible rating available, because this company deserves a minus five stars for its poor product and complete lack of customer support. Our very expensive system with five handsets worked when it was brand new, but four of the handsets have failed one by one and cannot be repaired. The company offers no support whatsoever, and the "self-service" web site doesn't work either. As of today the base unit of our system also stopped working on one line, so we are down to one line with one handset. We are shopping for a new phone system, but it will not be a Siemens. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Works fine as a phone, but some silly (and irritating) design decisions

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst PHONE ever!!!!
I purchased this phone in May 2004 - I have had nothing but problems with the unit and handsets.Panasonic states the base unit most be situated in a room with out a computer or 9 feet away from the closest one in order to not get garbly staticy reception on the handsets - wonder what office doesn't have a computer near a phone??Low and behold you move the base unit away from the computers and the handsets still are garbled.Panasonic now states to reset the base unit and handset - i have to do this 5-6 times a day, while trying to talk to customers. And that still doesn't work all the time!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Aweful !
This is NOT a good phone....I was needing to replace my Panasonic 2-line cordless phone KX-TG2267 with a phone that has a longer talk time battery life..this GE phone doesn't ring consistently, has static and clicking, all while I'm within 20ft of the base....It's a total WASTE of money !!....if only panasonic could improve the battery life on the before mentioned model, it would be the perfect 2-line cordless phone....I hope someone at Panasonic reads this and takes note !!

4-0 out of 5 stars good product
everithing is ok in general but the screen is to short and the liquid numbers are too small.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best darn 2 line phone for the money!
I've burned through 4 or 5 other "better", more expensive, two-line cordless phones over the past 8 or 10 years and this has proven to be the best value.Sound quality, features and range. No, I don't walk around the neighborhood with it (that's what cell phones are for) but my house does have a ton of smoked glass, concrete and steel walls. Goofy brand name (does GE actually make anything small and consumer-like themselves?) and it sure doesn't look Scandinavian but it sure performs just great. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars 2-line phone
This phone has a glaring omission, namely, it does not accommodate a duplexed line.Hence, you must have two separate jacks connected to have two line connectivity. No other phone requires that. All have an input permitting a single jack which carries both lines.
4-0 out of 5 stars Decent, inexpensive phone.
I was looking for a cheap two line cordless phone, and this one does was the least expensive of all available. The phone is decent, but the keys are cheap. However it works well, and I don't mind that. This is still the first week, so I do not know how it'll work in the long term though....

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone- we fixed the battery problem
We've had this phone for over a year now.It works well, we get good reception outside my house, I can sit on the porch far from the base unit and talk without any static. We too had problems with the battery life a few months after purchase. We replaced the battery with a not Panasonic NiMH battery with 1300mA and since then have had great battery life.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not Panasonic's Best
Positives? Good cordless sound quantity even at greater distances.
4-0 out of 5 stars Battery life issues are strange, but can be avoided
I recently acquired a 2.4Ghz Panasonic cordless phone after seeing one my parents have had the last 5 months and being very impressed with the features. I wanted to post this because I've seen the many reviews complaining of poor battery life.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want to get frustrated everytime you place a call...
This phone worked well for a while, then suddenly, the buttons became impossible to push and dial!I can't tell you how frustrating it is trying to dial a phone number pressing and repressing a digit until it finally registers. Also, there must be a ghost that comes along with the phone; several times a week a caller on the other end says, 'I can't hear you, but someone else'?Why does this happen?Well, this system automatically scans for the best channels during calls, therefore you can momentarily be in on a neighbor's conversation. All the company has advised me to do is maintain a safe distance (50 ft radius) of the base! Why bother having a cordless phone? Now, after we've loaded our house with this idiotic phone system we have to go back and spend a bundle re-outfitting!Next time, I'll be sure to check with the opinions of other customers and not buy a "Costco special".ARGHHH!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone system
My son gave my daughter and me this four line V-Tech system. It is great. You can carry one phone around with you while the others are on the bases so you don't have to run to the phone when it rings. We had a cordless phone, but these phones are small. If you misplace one, you can call it and find it by its chirping. Also, if I need to reach my daughter, I can call her through this system. You can store phone numbers, redial, look to see whom you called. It has so many features that I don't think we found them all. This was the best gift I have received! ... Read more
