1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY !!!
I bought my X5 in early October of 2005 and after about 6 months its been nothing but problems. In under a year I have sent it back to them twice and I am about to do so for a third time. The problem is with the volume, it goes from low to loud randomly. The volume problem appears to be a defect with the X5 itself. I know this because two of my friends deceided to buy it when they saw mine and they have both had the same problem. The difference is that they got tired of sending it back and to be honest with you if they can't fix it this time I won't either. I think I'll be done with this company. When you read all the things the X5 can do it sounds great on paper and it would be a great MP3 Player but it rarely works.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Fooled by it's Size or the Brand Name
When I started looking for an mp3 player my main concern was the ability to play songs at a very high quality level. The ipod was a consideration, as was another top rated Sony mp3 player. However, Ididn't want to get what everyone else had and after a bad experience with an unnamed sony game console, I thought I would try something new. If you asked ten people who Cowon was, I would say probably nine of the ten couldn't tell you. It is very sturdy and has the same general shape/dimensions as the ipod. Clearly designed to compete with Apple, the iAudio X5 has some very valuable aspects:
3-0 out of 5 stars user friendly. poor quality
i bought my x5 the same time video ipod came out and i should have waited for the ipod. the x5 is a great mp3 player but the screen is smaller then ipod. if you want to use the software that came with x5 then you need a PC. i have a imac and none of the software is compatible. the only advantage that x5 has is the built in fm tuner and ability to download pictures directly from digital camera to x5 which i never tried. if i had to choose between ipod and x5 i pick ipod because there is more support and more accesories to choose from. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Decent player with problematic Audible file implementation
I was looking for a "do-it-all" player for music, voice and audiobooks. Although the iRiver T30 handles the first two functions pretty well, I advise you not to buy this unit for its support of Audible files. In this mode it works (sort of), but I have discovered several very annoying quirks.
1-0 out of 5 stars does not work with Toshiba laptops
Beware -- this unit does not work with Toshiba laptops. Tech support is non-existent. You will never get through on the phone. Email support is non-existent. You will have to wait weeks to hear back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Have had for about a year
I bought this little guy at Fry's for $100. I don't use it heavily, but it has been just fine for me for a year, and I wonder why it hasn't gotten any better press. I've had no interaction with the company or tech support, but they just released a new firmware for it, so it has been on their minds. The number one reason I got this is that it is ONLY one I could find which supports bookmarks. I listen to a lot of talk radio and audio books, and I want to be able to move from one recording to another and not lose my place when I go back to one I started earlier and this guy does it, via its bookmarks. I also don't have to use any Itunes-type proprietary software. I just hook it up to my laptop and it appears just as any other hard drive. I create a folder, click/drag my audio, and I'm done. Even the on-device user interface is Explorer-like, and intuitive. Don't tell him, but I just bought another one for my brother's birthday....
2-0 out of 5 stars Would not buy again.
I purchased this item in pink back in April, by May the hard drive crashed... I sent it back to the company for repair and I have been waiting a month for it to be returned. I love the unit itself but the customer service is the most horrible that I have ever received.

3-0 out of 5 stars good while it lasts
i liked it.it was good for a year and a half... then crashed a few days ago.i bought it for under $200 instead on an ipod.... 10 gigs more for $100 less...good deal to me.one thing i hated about it was that it's so huge and bulky... somebody actually asked if it was a walkman.it was my prized possession... i had 2500 songs on it and lost them all....so for that i'm pissed.i plan on staying with creative and getting a 20 gig Zen Sleek Photo.

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST MP3 PLAYER ON MARKET

1-0 out of 5 stars GARBAGE!!!!!DO NOT BUY!!!!!
Doesn't even deserve the one star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I bought this for my daughter for a Christmas present last year.It never worked at all.RCA support SUCKS!!I spent hours on the phone with RCA & didn't get anywhere.I always thought RCA made good products but have learned otherwise from this miserable experience.I sent this product back to RCA for a refund about a month ago & haven't heard anything.I will feel lucky if I do get a refund after reading these reviews.I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER RCA/THOMSON PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE & WOULD ADVISE ANYONE WHO READS THIS TO DO THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IF BEATING YOUR HEAD AGAINST A WALL IS FUN FOR YOU THIS IS THE PRODUCT FOR YOU.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
My wife bought this for me for Christmas last year.It doesn't work - for a whole number of reasons. After reading the other reviews here I'm afraid to send it back to RCA.I can't even get in touch with anyone there I have to send it blind and hope they take care of it.Don't waste your money.

2-0 out of 5 stars The One I Had To Let Go...
The Lyra was my first PVP machine and I picked one up in January 2004 not long after its release. I was enamored with its sleek screen with dazzling video, cool interface, respectable audio fidelity, and other amenities - including the ability to record directly from a video source. I auditioned one for a month before after much hand wringing, forced to return to Best Buy just before my 30 day return was about to expire. There were a number of factors which led me to do so; glitches with the interface, video issues, system freezes, etc. Finally, I experienced a complete lock-up of the interface that not even the pin reset could undo. Mind you, my Lyra wasn't abused in the least - never dropped, rocked, or jolted. I *really* liked the Lyra even in spite of its considerable flaws but had no choice but to return it. I've moved on since then to a much more issue free Creative Zen Vision M and have no regrets...but you know what they say about your "first love". Sigh. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked for 3 weeks then stopped
These headphones are hard to use. They are small and don't really produce a good sound. You can really hear the outside world while wearing them and that makes the music hard to hear sometimes. We had them for about a month and they quit working.Too late for a refund. There has got to be something better out there!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars I am really enjoying this MP3 player!!!!
This is a perfect MP3 player for working out. It doesn't hurt the back of my ears some other headphones do, and it is light and easy to figure out. The only improvement I would like to see is a bigger storage capacity. All in all I am very satified with my purchase!

5-0 out of 5 stars No wires, works, great little player for the price.
I had a Zen Nano 1GB that I liked a lot except for the wires.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money - especially if you are living overseas
I bought this RCA Lyra MP3 player (model RD2762) for my son inJuly 2005. Six months later, it stopped working. I contacted the company and was told that I had to send the item back and they will issue a replacement after I pay $69.95. I sent the item (call me dumb), and authorized them to charge my credit card. Last June I called the company and was supposed to get a call back, which I didn't. I did receive a letter stating that I needed to pay the replacement fee. I called the number on the letter and authorized them (again) to charge my credit card. Two months later and six months after sending the item back, I have not received a replacement. I was told today that they cannot ship the item to a Post Office Box. Well, we are in the military and are stationed overseas, so we only have a post office box. This company's policy is not going to help any of the thousand of military members and their families living overseas. I didn't have a choice but to provided them with my sister-in-law's mailing address. Still no replacement. I am very frustrated over this and have lost faith in this company's customer support. I feel like they have given me a run around, since everytime I called they give me a different reason why they have not send the replacement. If you are living overseas, do not buy from this company. ...
1-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Piece of Junk!
After buying it, it stopped working after 2 weeks. The stick in the middle of the wheel is easily damaged and the HDD freezes. It is pretty to look at and a pain to use. Creative Labs makes better stuff. Buy only the ones with push buttons on MP3 players. After paying $150 for this thing, NO RCA ever! I do think iPods are ridiculously overpriced, but Creative seems to be the best for the money.
2-0 out of 5 stars Pretty on the Outside, But Crumbles Under Scrutiny
When I first purchased my RCA Lyra RD2762, I thought it was great. The mp3 player craze was gaining momemtum, and I was a nieve kid who had a bit of money, but not enough for an i-pod.I should have saved for an i-pod, or maybe something else.First, the purchasing price for this player was nearly $180, far more than a mere 4gbs is worth.Furthermore, the software for the machine is awful and clunky, so that you're better off just opening the device folder and transferring files directly there. The worst aspect of this gadget, however, is the battery. This mp3 player has an internal battery that is integrated with the hard drive, meaning there is no way you can replace it nor can you take it to a general electronics shop.In fact, according to a customer service representative I spoke with, the battery can't be "replaced" at all!You must return it to RCA and have the device replaced for a $99 service fee, IN ADDITION to tax and S&H.This device has planned obscelesence; it includes a one year warranty, with parts replacement, but the battery doesn't stop functioning until a few weeks AFTER it's hit that one year deadline.I bought my player when they first came out, and the warranty recently expired. Not 7 weeks later the battery starts screwing up and now I have to pay more than half the purchase price if I want it fixed.I'm just buying a better one.

4-0 out of 5 stars new device

2-0 out of 5 stars I thought i had a great device
I really enjoyed this device up until 3 weeks ago.It has long battery life and a large capacity for storage.BUT that does not matter if it just cuts off on you.Lately, has I hit an hour mark of running, it just shuts off.I did notice that the player looked as if it had moisture inside so i thought it was from my sweat. After reading the other reviews, i realize this is a feature of the player--- moisture getting trapped inside....I wish I would have known this before,I would have just gotten an IPOD.Anyhoo, on top of that, if you run in the daylight (which i believe most of us do) you can't read the player because of the reflection against the sun.I find myself having to hover over it or go to a dark space in order to see what songs I am changing it too....If you don't run, and just sit around with it, buy it, but if you plan on doing any activities with it (i.e. running, walking, excercise) DONT BUY IT!!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars iPod 40 GIG Photo
I just bought a refurb iPod 40 gig photo with firewire from the Apple Store online. It was the best priced model that still works with Firewire. Since I do not own a computer with USB 2, I wanted to stay with Firewire. Regarding malfunctioning iPods, you have a one year hardware warranty. If you choose not to buy AppleCare for the extra year, that is unfortunate, and not Apple's problem, but the users. Guess what? Sony's MP3 players come with a 90 day warranty, and Sony has a reputation for good quality. Point being: not Apple's fault if unit breaks down after one year if you don't purchase extended warranty. All electronics are made in China anyway, so buy the extended warranty. More later after using the iPod for a while.

2-0 out of 5 stars Beware Apple Quality
Apple quality is terrible, and they don't stand behind their products. My iPod Photo started malfunctioning almost immediately after the warranty expired. I have spent more time resetting it and reloading it than listening to it. The battery gives no where near the advertised power. If you don't pay for an Apple Care policy for an extra year, Apple will not provide any service or refer to third party service for an iPod, even if you wish to pay for it.
1-0 out of 5 stars Beware of the iPod click wheel.
This device has many great features. I bought the iPod Photo mainly because I want to transfer photos from my camera to the iPod. This way I don't have to buy a bunch of SD cards. It was a good idea, but...

2-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to operate
I bought this because of the form factor and so that my husband could record something he was studying for.Granted, he is not a puter whiz but he had a hard time getting the record function to work.Usually, I can show him something and it will work fine for him thereafter. He kept coming back asking me whether he was recording or not.Not a good sign.It is pretty cute, but the toggle buttons are very hard to operate, especially for my husband that has larger fingers.Basic tasks like moving thru menus are a little hard to navigate with the tiny toggle. And we often found ourselves entering a function we did not want because of that. The sound is decent and it was easy to setup and transfer files to.

5-0 out of 5 stars great mp3
I was suprised at how good the sound quality was for the price. good volume level too!

Editorial Review

At 0.63 ounces and 0.94 inches (24mm) square, the mobiBLU Cube DAH-1500i is the world's smallest MP3 player (as of January, 2006). This 1 GB player in blue is compatible with both MP3 and WMA digital audio files, and it has an integrated FM radio (with record function), voice recorder, and clock. The built-in lithium-polymer battery provides between 8 and 10 hours of battery life, and it can be easily recharged by a USB connection to your PC (via the included cable). It also sports a cutting edge OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display that looks terrific and draws less power than conventional LCD displays. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Cute, but...
Really liked the Mobiblue 1500 cube at first - great sound, easy to use.But found there is a serious design flaw in the product within the first month - the plug for the earphones is on the top of the cube. When working out, a little sweat got in the unit and fried it.Completely unusable. To make matters worse, the support for Mobiblue was HORRIBLE!They took over a month to initially reply to my e-mails for help (there is no support line number to call), only to tell me what I had already read and tried from their on-line materials.
1-0 out of 5 stars Nice at first...
I bought this MP3 player about a year ago because I heard nothing but the best about it...although it was still brand new at the time. When I received it, I found it was very difficult to use and even after you knew what you were doing, it was confusing to use.Unfortunately, after only 8 months with it, the small cube died. The buttons stopped working while it was on, so the battery ran low, and I lost everything.Haven't been able to turn it on since. There is NO help from Mobiblu when something like this happens. My suggestion is, spend the few extra bucks and get yourself an Apple iPod Nano.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute and it functions well
Ive had this MP3 player for over 6 months now and I really like it. At first I thought it was a piece of junk because after a month or so, it kept shutting off and then wouldnt play anything. But I realized that you have to plug it into your computer every so often and do the MP3 update (if you click the right option, it wont erase all of your songs). If you do that, it functions perfectly! The sound is good too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Edited review, after double-checking the battery life.
My cousin brought this baby from Korea 2 days ago, and I love it so much that I would almost steal it from him if only I could use the AC charger in the US. (their electricity is mostly 220v while electricity in US is 110v, I think) I'm so happy that I didn't waste any money on a new mp3 player(the one I have is about 6 yrs old), because this PMP is such a good deal!
4-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
Just got this yesterday, overall impressions are good, the best part in my opinion is the fact that my computer sees it as a drive and I can transfer whatever I want to and FROM it, unlike the iPod, which won't let me put my stuff back on the computer from it. I pretty much backed up all my must have program setup files, a few text files, 1200 songs, 500 pictures, and 2 movies, and haven't even used 1/2 the space on it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible !

5-0 out of 5 stars This Player is For The Rest Of Us
For those of us that don't have the cash or don't want to spend it on an IPod Shuffle with 512mb (I believe) and no other options other than volume and "skip/shuffle" this is the player. You start out with 512mb and can expand almost indefinitely using sd/mms. Haven't heard or seen anything about this player but it is absolutely fantastic! Personally, I used some 512mb and 1-gb "mini-sd" and an sd-adaptor I found on EBay. It workd out a little better since the sd memory alone is kind of difficult to remove from the back of this player. This solved the problem altogether. You can expand another 1gb doing this, I think. It takes an AAA battery and if you use a rechargable, it recharges it while plugged into a usb port. I'm currently trying to find out if I can plug it into a Motorola Razr/Slvr usb charger but that's just for my own convenience. This player has an FM (sounds stereo, to me) receiver, with 25 presets you set and scroll through, lighted backlight, equalizer (presets) that work at least in MP3 mode (not sure about FM mode) joystick scrolling/press to select and it can be loud. The display screen even has video characters that move around, dancing while in use. I'm not sure about the battery life yet but haven't had any issues and you probably won't if you plug it into your usb when not in use. You can even change batteries and charge a couple of more if you're going to be traveling. The joystick may be a little small for some to get used to but it does work and you can set the display to stay on which is great for me since this is going on my motorcycle, somehow. It comes with a sturdy set of earbuds and the FM reception is pretty good using these. Some of these companies need to get together and really look at what the others are doing. This one, imho, is a winner. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as cool as I thought.
I bought this iRiver because my music library was all WMA music files.I had previously owned a 256 mb iRiver (which I really liked) and was looking for something a little bigger. It is all right for an mp3 player, but after the newness wore off, I became more disappointed with it.First of all, to charge the player, you have to attach the adapter to the usb cable. So, you end up having a mess of cables and always have to use two just to plug the thing into the wall.Charging time is pretty fast though, but it seems like the iRiver sucks a lot of the battery when it isn't even on.That leads into my second frustration with the iRiver. It has a standby and an off.You have to hold down the power button for several seconds before it goes off.Sometimes you think the iRiver is off, but it is really on standby and your battery goes down even faster.Third, it seems like forever to start up.I think my computer starts up faster than this. The buttons for play/pause, forward, and back are on the side and aren't really user friendly. It does synchronize with Windows Media player well, and it plays your WMAs.The color screen is nice, you can load your photos, but it won't show album covers. This isn't a bad mp3 player, it just wasn't what I was looking for.

1-0 out of 5 stars I thougth wrong!
No doubt this thing is cool, but in buying it I made a huge mistake. I had always refused to give in to the ipod crowd and so I tryed this thing out. The sound was good, but then I had to figure out how to put songs on it. This was my fourth MP3 player and it was the most complicated of all of 'em. If you want the best, unfortunately you must pay for the best- get an ipod. Save yourselfthe pain.
