1-0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE - AMAZON SELLING OLD VERSION 2
I recently purchased this item from Amazon. What I received was version 2 of this modem. The current version on the Linksys site is version 4. As a Cox customer, the results of my purchase were unsatisfactory. I will be returning this and purchasing the version 4 Linksys from another vendor.

5-0 out of 5 stars cable modem
I am happy that I purchased this modem as it saved me $5.00 in rental cost from my cable company. It seems to make my Internet browsing faster and the price was very competitive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Linksys BEFCMU10 EtherFast Cable Modem
The product was easy to load onto my Windows based computer using Windows XP.I connected everything as instructed and as soon as I plugged in the TV cable to the back of the modem, My internet explorer picked up the signal and put me at the log in page for new accounts of my cable provider.

5-0 out of 5 stars great product.
I've had no problems at all with this product. I don't get kicked off every 5 minutes like I did with my d-link wireless adapter. Also - it's easy to install and practially idiot proof. I was also very impressed with the shipping. I got it within a day or two.

2-0 out of 5 stars Problems for XP version
I have a COPMPAQ laptop that runs on Windows XP. The driver software i got on the CD when i purchased the wireless card had problems and sodownloaded the one they have on the website, and for two months i had no problems. Once i updated my windows XP and my antivirus protection, it somehow dumped its physical memory contents (the wireless software)as though the software was never installed, and now it doesn't work at all. Every time i insert it into the laptop, the system is forced to restart itself.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to install and good reception
Received the card a few days after I ordered it from Amazon. After reading many reviews, I downloaded the driver from the Trendnet website instead of using the CD that came with the card.Unzipped and installed the files, re-started my laptop and inserted the card.Everything went smoothly and I was surfing the web in 5 mins.I read Gary's review about the card not working for his IBM Thinkpad and was skeptical at first since I am also using an IBM Thinkpad running Windows98 SE.But mine works perfectly and very good reception.Highly recommend it!

3-0 out of 5 stars had to be replaced
i had this modem for about 9 months and for the first 8 months it ran perfectly. unfortunately, it gradually became harder and harder to get online. it took longer and longer to connect and it kept dropping the connection while i was online. at first, i thought it was just Comcast having problems or maybe it was my computer. I switched the computer and called Comcast but still ended up with the same problems. it was the modem that was the problem. i didn't have any problem with Comcast replacing it for free though. they gave me a Scientific-Atlanta Inc. modem, so time will tell if this one does the same. don't worry though if you had bought one. Comcast knows about this problem and they will swap out your modem no problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trouble free
I've been using this modem for three years without a hiccup.Although there are newer models available, if you can find a working used version of this modem (and your ISP supports it) it should (hopefully) last for years and cost a lot less than the latest modems.

3-0 out of 5 stars 1 year and it died.
Got a new, boxed unit from Comcast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Needs better directions.....
This modem works fine so far. I didn't have trouble getting the MOH to install, I just couldn't find it. Right-clicking the application icon in the system tray of the desktop displays this option. I am not very computer literate, so I didn't think to look there. You must run the software installation FIRST before hardware installation according to the instruction book. Even so , my computer could not find the both drivers. I ended up going thru "my computer" and clicking on the "drivers" and then they installed.( There is an audio driver also). So far everything is running good.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal For The Price!
I bought two of these modems - one for me to replace that died in my 'puter and one for my friend's that died as well.Just took a matter of minutes to download the drives and swap out the old modemsfor the new. Both work fine and we're both pleased. You can't beat the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent modem, but instructions not so much so
The Trendware modem hardware I purchased installed very easily, and the internet performance is more than satisfactory. The instructions were not good for enabling modem-on-hold (allowing one to receive calls while online), non existant actually. One must copy the LTMOH files from the CD, and then put them in a folder on the hard drive, and then add the ltmoh.exe file to the startup menu;for the software didn't install automatically. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars pay no attention
Pay no attention to the negative reviews of this product.RF links are all about math and the gain of this antenna produces a directed signal that is hundreds of times stronger that what you get out of one of those standard wifi omni antennas. The people frowning on it are likely trying to use a radio link in an environment where rf is just not feasible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Modem
I like being able to see my ADSL line stats, and this modem lets me see the SNR, Attenuation, Line Power, as well as other stats that my Westell doesn't provide. I use a LinkSys router running DD-WRT so I can set up a VLAN to the 10.x.x.x interface on the modem, and I'm able to manage my router as well as manage the modem. It provides for complete control over my ADSL connection as well as stability. If you're a control freak like me buy the Zoom 5615 and combine it with the LinkSys WRT54GS router loaded with DD-WRT(Google it if you don't know what it is) and you'll have a great method of monitoring your connection as well as more stability.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little modem!
Pros: Small, quiet, easy to setup, and alot less expensive than what you'd pay the ISP for their modem (unless they give you the modem at no charge).

1-0 out of 5 stars Controllerless = WinModem
The product info doesn't mention this, but this modem is a controllerless modem (a.k.a. WinModem) which means it only works on Windows (not Linux or Mac). Also, controllerless modems usually perform slightly worse than controller-based modems.

3-0 out of 5 stars Awesome modem
I live in a rural area, and have tried several PCI modems, but couldn't get better than 31.2K connect. This TrendNet modem installed easily (Win98SE), and connects at 44K all the time. I'm pleased!

1-0 out of 5 stars TRENDNET not the best for Macintosh

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Shouldn't Be Used With 12V Equipment.
I'll be the second engineer to tell you not to use this product with any 12V equipment. Devices require some fixed amount of power to operate and when you supply 5V to a device that expects 12V, it's going to get the power, at the expense of drawing over twice as much current. This will cause the device to operate outside its operating specifications, probably run hotter, and probably fail earlier.

5-0 out of 5 stars It really does work with 12v
I have the WRT54G v.2 that uses a 12 volt power supply.I plugged this PoE in and it worked right way even thought it said 5v output. It has been running now for 4 months with no problems. I guess the reviewer who is "the engineer with 25 years experience" was incorrect- experience does not count for actually doing it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Also useful for 48V DC POE devices
Appears to implement 802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE) standard in full.Marked down because the documentation supplied and available on Linksys web site is so dismal.

Looks like it should be a good deal. It Disconnects and locks up the computer after a couple of minutes use. It seems to have bad drivers and bad firmware. 5-0 out of 5 stars great modem, easy install!
got this modem yesterday, put it in this morning and what an easy process! I didnt even need to install the drivers, it connected fast and easy to the net. I had tried a cheap ebay modem that i ended up returning that just didnt work at all. But this one was easy, to install and i'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reasonably priced modem.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am amazed
I never thought I would write one of these but here goes...I was trying to get online with my sister's old Dell computer with a Pentium 100 processor and running (barely) Windows 98SE.I bought another modem from a computer store "guaranteed" to work with this system. It continuously booted me offline, took forever to download sites and wouldn't let me on Ebay, Yahoo, etc.I returned that modem and bought this one on a whim because I had an Amazon certificate that was burning a hole in my pocket.I ordered one morning and it came the next afternoon.I easily installed it and have been surfing the Net ever since. It is incredibly fast to connect and reaches any site.Mind you, I am not a computer wizard and I have only been using this thing for a day and a half, but I would say give it a try to anyone else having connection problems even if your system is OLD.Run disk defragmenter often to keep things optimized and I hope things go as well for you as they are for me.One last note is that this modem does seem to screech and howl louder and longer while initially connecting to the Web than any I have used before.Still, that is a small price to pay for the speed and efficiency it provides.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple Modem Installation
One of the simplist installation of a modem I ever had.Running Win2000 just installed the board and followed the on screen prompts to install the driver.Had it running in five mins.Would have to recommend this modem.Speed seems to be faster than my old modem blaster which findly gave out.Read more

I bought this modem to replace a 6 year old Conexent to see if I could pick up a little more speed.I wasn't expecting broadband, but I at least wanted to get maybe another kbps.Boy, what a LETDOWN!I couldn't get the connection speed above 19200!I'm not exactly a computer beginner and I tried everything that I could get from the software. No results. No matter if the speed was set at 57000 or 115200.Connect speed at 19200!No higher! With download speeds at a pathetic 2.0 kbps, I was beginning to think I regressed back to my old 486-14.4 days!
5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Reliable Modem
This modem is great!!replaced a US Robotics 5699B which was hanging up and dropping connection. This one holds a solid connection without a hickup. Also, the Netwaiting software, which pops up to show you who is calling and let's you decide if you want to take the call or keep surfing, keeps a record of the numbers that have called you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Windows 98 Trouble
I tried installing the modem software in Windows 98 according to directions and had much difficulty. The software corrupted my registry a number of times, which I then had to restore.Software was poorly designed.I finally got it installed, and it is working fine. However, to avoid headaches, I would look for another modem if you have Windows 98. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Longterm Experiment
I got the 5260 model as a package deal from Sprint in July 2001 with a download speed of 768 Kbps.I have beve experienced a single incident that caused me to restart it.With a gateway router the log-in is automatic. My only concern is the service speed and compatability.I've upgraded my service to 1.5 Mbps and soon 5 Mbps. But this device was built for future expansion and scalability and is rated at 8 Mbps.I have no reason to even think about it until I upgrade my service and I still don't need to replace it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
I had mine for about four years with very little problem. I did have to restart once in awhile, though I'm not sure whether this was a modem or ISP issue. I was always able to connect and maintain a good reliable connection near advertised speeds. I guess this model is getting a little long in the tooth, but for the price I saw, it seems to be a good value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works fine for me
I've been using a 5360 since March 2002. I had it connected to a 350 MHx Macintosh G3 running OS 9 until a week ago when I moved it to a 2GHz iMac G5 running Tiger (OS X 10.4). Set up with OS X was a no-brainer -- the very first time I powered up the iMac, OS X reconized the unit and automaticly set itself to connect to my ISP via PPPoE -- I only had type in my e-mail address and my iSP password. The 5360 has worked reliably for me on two computers over 3 years. What's to complain? ... Read more
