Better than BOSE
Wow, how do I explain the quality of the sound of this complete system?I have a Bose sound system and this is just as great, if not better.I added a subwoofer to my system to give it an even more bass boost.If you have a DVD player, you're in for something great.It is BETTER THAN THE MOVIES!Wait untill you hear the center speaker.It has great features like karaoke, dolby pro logic, and DSP surround sound.This is THE BEST!

Beats a boombox, maybe
To be honest, I've had better sound from two tin cups on strings. But everything arrives in one box and Amazon will ship it right to your door - and for a 5 channel surround system, the price is right.There are allkinds of DSP (digital signal processing) options you can use to tweak thesound if you're not using a 5-channel input (high end VCR's and DVD playersprovide this for movie watching); but these options have the habit ofcancelling themselves at the drop of a hat.Luckily resetting them iseasy. Good system, but...
I've had the Kenwood HTB-S710DV Home Theater System for about 2 months. I like the ease of setting it up and it has all the features I need to hook it up to my Xbox, TV, and other audio sources as well.The reason I gave it four stars is bacause the subwoofer died after 2 months of normal use.I never blasted the bass or kicked it.I guess its a power cord issue or something.Hopefuly Kenwood will help me out. ... Subwoofer blown
I also bought this Kenwood HTB-307 in Nov. 2004 and now it has blown it's fuse.Apparently there's some kind of short as the replacement fuses I install are immediatly blown when power is turned on. Since someone else has also had this problem, I'd be warry of buying this again unless Kenwood can be sure to their service centers able to quickly fix this at no cost and little hastle.

Defective Subwoffer
I have a HTB307 Home Theater System since november 28th, this product has been working great but yesterday 2005/4/4/ after a fast interruption from energy service the subworffers dont power on again and checkit for see a blow fuse but the unit dont have the fuse, irremedialy the unit die and smell so bad.I dont recomend the system because this was only electric equipment fail in my house with this energy interruption.

BETTER THAN THE THEATER!!!
I know very little about home theater and I am by no means one of these guys who spends thousands of dollars on home entertainment.What i do know, however, is that this system, despite it's size, pumps out HUGE sound.Movies I haven't watched in years seem to come alive.I spent several months researching various home theater systems and finally decided on this one, mainly because of it's price, size, and incredible wireless surround speakers, that happen to work flawlessly.It took me a few hours of playing around to get the hang of all the features, but make no mistake, when setup correctly, this thing rocks!My wife and I rented Hostage the other night and it felt as if we were part of the movie.With the bass cranked 1/4 up, our living room shook with each action sequence.Ok, so the living room didn't actually shake.But, seriously, forget the movie theater.The dialogue is crystal clear, the bass is DEEP and rich, and several times, thanks to the wireless surround, I could have sworn someone was sitting next to me on the sofa!Ok, so it makes movies come alive.How about CD's and the radio?This thing really does hold its own.CD's and the radio sound crisp and clear and the surround speakers give a nice "wrap around" effect.Honestly, I couldn't be happier with this gem.If you already have a DVD player (not included), refuse to run surround sound speaker wire all over your living room, and want an all out awesome movie experience, pick this baby up!!!You'll love it!

Excellent Surround Sound System
After much exploration and research, I decided to buy this system because of the excellent reviews on Amazon and the few elsewhere.One of my main concerns was the need for running wires from the main receiver to the surround speakers across the room.The Kenwood HTB-S610 solves this problem brilliantly by including a transmitter and receiver specifically for the surround speakers so that you don't have to run wires under the carpeting or around baseboards or through the ceiling.The transmitter is connected to the front receiver and you still have to have wires from the second receiver to the surround speakers, but this is only a minor issue.Other systems such as Panasonic and Sony have wireless surround speaker systems, but not for the same price range.
It is not wireless
The product description used by Amazon is misleading. The description seems to make a big deal out of touting the idea of a wireless system.The only "wireless" part is the two boxes with antennas only used if you buy another two speakers and create a Dolby 7.1 environment.

Poor long-term investment.
Like many reviewers have stated, mine worked fabulously at first.My only complaint since the beginning was that the disk actions were too slow (changing disks and reading disks).But one month shy of 3 years old, it gave the 'F61' power error and died.I could get it fixed, but it makes me wonder what part of it may break next...

Skip on Panasonic
Just as many here have written--if you get two years you are doing well. Right at the 2 yr mark my system which is used maybe once a month will not read the discs. Now to make things even more irritating--it will read some discs sometimes. However, it is getting worse and I came looking for reviews and reading I have now learned this is a common problem and now realize I will have to purchase a new system.
GOOD FOR ONLY A YEAR OR TWO
I bought the first one of this product a couple of years ago because my family had good experience with Panasonic in the past. Not long after we bought it, it died. Luckly, we were able to exchange it for another at the place we originally bought it. I didn't have any more bad experiences until this past weekend when it did the same as the first system. While watching a dvd, it froze then quit reading discs - It would at first try to read the disc, but now doesn't, just immediately says "NO DISC" or "-----". It gets very hot (to the point you can't touch it for more than about 5 - 10 seconds) - I called Panasonic about this and they told me that it was normal and that the cooling fan is thermastat controlled, so not a problem but I suspect it finally just fried itself. Panasonic customer service was rude, on hold for 30 minutes before I just gave up. Tried to contact them via email but no respnse and no help or advise with the problem. So, now I have a very expensive radio taking up a lot of shelf space in my living room. Thanks Panasonic!!!!!!!!!

home theater made easy
The system has a very clean sound , but does lack power. The DAVS 500 offers 40 watts to all and 80 to sub. For the price ,it outshines the competition. There is a out for the woofer if you choose to replace the sub, sony does not recommend changing any components. DTS, 5.1, and various sound fields I prefer a unit which selects the best possible sound and if you want to alter GO ahead. A sub cost what this system cost. The speakers are matched which really brings out the sound, but no chance to upgrade with a 30 watt output. IF you do not want to shake the floor and create thunder in the living room or bedroom but do want clean sound this is for you. IF you want to expand and change then spend a 1000 or more on a better system.

I really enjoy this thing. It's small, simple to install, easy to use, even my girlfriend could figure it out! The DTS sound is awesome! True it would be nice to hook up a tape deck, but really who has that anymore...and it would be nice to play CDR's but you can hook up a CD changer or other CD player, no big deal! I would recomend this thing to everyone. I done know what others are talkin about when they complain about not enough bass, you can raise the bass level, center level and rear also, it even has a way to hook up a powered sub woffer if you really want to annoy the neighbors. Oh and the price is droping too! I paid almost 700 bucks for it, I saw it in the paper last week for 400. Bottom line, buy it its cool, and all the cool kids have one!

not a monster but a sweetest company
The thought of buying a dvd player with digital funtions had been haunting me for sometime. I looked into various models of dvds in the town but nothing to satisfy me. Then one day I saw this sleek dvd palyer with funtions that was more than one could anticipate according to its size. however, it was there with dts, dolby and everything. Its the best selection one can make for ones home. There will be no regret for the decission but if one expects very high sound system then it is better to drop the idea because it doesn't fullfil the need. I should have taken this system back for a different make.
My old Awia system that i purchased back in '96 was a better system.Features I didn't like on the Panasonic was the remote, which is small and the buttons are too close together.The signal is weak which require repeated pressing of buttons.The CD changer is noisy and to take out one CD you have to stop the playing CD.A carousel would have been better.Loading CD's is a task and retrieving is also difficult.And still very noisy.I don't recommed purchasing this modelas there are better ones out there that can do the same job.

Panasonic has really put out a surprising system that amazes you left and right as well as behind and right in front of you too.This system offers a Dolby Pro Logic Decoder so that you can listen to your favorite cds in Dolby Surround Sound, as well as watch your favorite dvds in Dolby Surround Sound as well.The AK66 offer 5.1 surround, and has an audio input that you can plug you dvd player/playstation/nintendo/whatever into so that you can enjoy your video games in surround sound as well.There is also a 5.1 audio input cluster on the back that can be used for dvd players with the 5.1 audio out option.As an added bonus there is also an av output for a subwoofer (not included) for even more bass.Anyway this system puts out an extremely clear sound as well as loud that can fill a large room easily .Distortion in the sound is extremely rare, and very minimal if you ever encounter any.The speakers are detachable (of course), and the speaker wire that they are attached to is extremely long for a mini system (especially the rear speakers).The player has the capability of holding 5 cds, but it is extremely slow at switching between cds (thus the 4 star rating);However despite the slow swithing between cds this system is definately a great buy, and a good starter sytem.Heck this system is in my bedroom running a small home theater, and I'm completely thrilled with it (I'm very picky when it comes to sound quality and other things such as bass, loudness, and the like).There isn't a mini system better than this one that is in the same price category.

Holly BASE!
Very clear, crisp sound. Best buy for the money that's for sure. Didn't realize how powerful a system I was getting until I brought it home and plugged it in! Amazing! Only thing I don't like about it is you can't add a cd to the system without it stopping the one that is playing (if one is playing). Overall, great sysem, doesn't have the useless features that the JVC has (ie. the rolling in control section).

Worst Purchase Of My Life
I got this system only a few years ago, and it's now retired after only mild use.It is the crappiest stereo ever created, in my opinion.
This Panasonic SC-AK78 is the best stereo for the money.
This Panasonic stereo is one of the best stereos that i have seen for a long time. Philips makes and good stereo but no Philips comes close to this one. Not even the Bose comes close to this one. Panasonic has been know for good sound and Panasonic is part of Technics. I love this stereo with the 5 speaker surround and the 5 cd changer makes this worth while. the monsterus sound makes this stereo come to live with any music of VHS of DVD movie. Even the radio comes to live with this thing.So this stereo is worth all the money that you pay and it even more. It plays cdrw burned cds and it is just overall "A GREAT STEREO" Buy it today.

Commerce quality grows to professional level.
I simply do not believe to my ears! This sound quality should be on triple price. Or more.:-) This Sharp system is crazily out of category. All the others I tried before on this price level are far far not up to this experiment.
one of the best out there
the sharp sd-at1000 is by far one of the best home theater out there for its price(i got mine for 199). it has 600 watts or total power and can decode everything, dts, dolby digital, pro logic and pro logic 2. its also utilizes sharp's 1 bit technology which converts analog signals into digital, while its ultra-high speed sampling rate captures detailed, high frequency sounds that could never before be experienced. it also has 2 digital and 3 line inputs and a nice design. this system also doubbles as a am/fm radio with magnetically shielded front speakers. my only complaint is it does not have a dvd play but for the price i really wasn't expecting one. later models such as the sd-at 3000 and 4000 dv do contain dvd players but for a much higher price. i'd recommend this system to anyone, just buy a good dvd player and you're good to go.

Great system for a great price
I recently got this Sharp home theatre system.To be honest, for the price, I wasn't expecting much.But I was really impressed with the sound.You look at it and think it's going to sound cheap, but it sounds really great. It's 600 watts, so that helps and the sound separtation is real clean.I wish it had a powered subwoofer and center channel, but then again, I'd being spending about $400 more for it.I thought it was great.I'd recommend it to anyone. ...
