Exorbitant and USELESS
I bought this item in april during a promotion for my brothers graduation thinking it would make a perfect gift for him since he always loathes the heavy laptops. The item is lightweight and ultra portable. full marks here to it. BUT!! THATS ABOUT IT! BESIDES THAT THIS ITEM IS A PIECE OF CRAPPP.
DO NOT BUY THE PEPPER PAD!
This computer is one of the worst items I've ever had (I took it back in the first week of using it)

WiFi phone?
There's an alternative firmware set for this device that can be used to create a mono-enabled system capable of VoIP via WiFi.

So now sharp has given up on america, as far as linux palm pcs are concerned. The scene is desolate, tumbleweeds blow through, and ebay is littered with bargain used and refurbished sl-5500s.
Not perfect but superb
I've been running an SL5500 since they came out.Being a Linux geek wannabe type, the Zaurus was a natural.Sure some interfaces are prettier and some PIM apps on other platforms may be slicker but as they say, "Beauty is only skin deep."

Outstanding features and nearly software complete
The SL-6000L is the best handheld of all the units I have owned including a Zaurus 5500.The built in wireless syncs with every hotspot I've tried and the Spread sheet, Word processor and Presentations works with all the MS Windows files natively without converting back and forth.

I jsut received this yesterday and here's my first impression.

I'm writing this on my new Zaurus. Firstly to the reviewer who complained about the handwriting recognition, it's the best I've seen. You can train every letter to the way you write. Great little Linux box
The SL-5600 comes with QTopia, an embedded version of Linux.It looks really good, and the software ROCKS!It can read and write Microsoft Word and Excel files, etc. Good but beware the screen
