I thought it sucked BUT....
...it was my setup!The bass is waaaayyy intense so I had to turn it to -6 and then, wow, it sounded much better.I thought it was too boomy and generated a lot of static until I started fiddling with the settings and found the perfect selection of bass and treble. I do wish it had more inputs, like for my ipod, but an A/B box ought to take care of that.The speaker wires that come with it are long enough to run through the floor and under the house to set the rear speakers in the back of the room.
Best bang for your buck
This system is complete and can be set-up in 15 minutes.Everything is color coordinated so if you are like my wife with AV equipment you can figure it out.The sound works well in a small to medium sized room if that is a concern.There is a lot of low end from the subwoofer.Sometimes it is a blessing and sometimes it is a burden.The easy surround or (hand clap set-up) is a no brainer for set-up.Just sit in your listener position and clap your hands once, done.The two standing front speakers are a nice edition.It is a rarity for that anymore.The omni-directional rear speakers are great for your stereo surround sound.The center channel is longer than the ones that I have used in the past so it fills up the listening area with more sound.It includes all the wires to have a basic set-up.I would recommend that you use the component connection or the s-video connection if you are able to.It has a 5 disk changer that I have used for DVD, CD, and MP3 disks.I have not messed around with DVD-R disks yet.The instructions for this are very easy.There are a few surround modes such as a movie surround, a music surround, and all stereo surround.Don't worry it defaults to the auto select.In all it was a great purchase.I found it here through the amazon marketplace shops for almost $200 less than I did at the retail stores.

Great sounding system
If there is one movie that you watch on this system - it was to be War of the Worlds.The sound is crisp and the bass really sucks you into the movie.

Better than BOSE
Wow, how do I explain the quality of the sound of this complete system?I have a Bose sound system and this is just as great, if not better.I added a subwoofer to my system to give it an even more bass boost.If you have a DVD player, you're in for something great.It is BETTER THAN THE MOVIES!Wait untill you hear the center speaker.It has great features like karaoke, dolby pro logic, and DSP surround sound.This is THE BEST!

Beats a boombox, maybe
To be honest, I've had better sound from two tin cups on strings. But everything arrives in one box and Amazon will ship it right to your door - and for a 5 channel surround system, the price is right.There are allkinds of DSP (digital signal processing) options you can use to tweak thesound if you're not using a 5-channel input (high end VCR's and DVD playersprovide this for movie watching); but these options have the habit ofcancelling themselves at the drop of a hat.Luckily resetting them iseasy. BE FAIR... Aiwa is just as good, if not better...
Aiwa systems are definately one of the best value for money stereo's you can buy.Despite all the complaints I tend to see, most relate to exceptionally old units - and most relate to those people who never gottheir Butt into Gear to get it fixed under warranty.That's what awarranty is for!I have owned several AIWA's and have never experiencedanything but the best customer service and swiftness of reply in any kindof problem or query.I would recommend AIWA to my closest friends due tothe amount of confidence I have in their products - especially the modelsrelesed in the last two ranges.How about a true fair go... if you buy aunit for under $1,000, you can't expect it to perform and last as long as aseperate component $3,000 plus unit!(I bet you wouldn't treat it as welleither)Be fair... ... If you have a small apt, and a budget, these will do
I live in a small 600 sq. foot apt. in NYC (Manhattan), and the walls are thin, while the floor is wood, so sound travels well to disturb neighbors.I was on a tight budget at the time (was saving for an engagement ring) but still had a sweet receiver that needed some decent speakers.The KLH caught my attention as it has been getting some good reviews and after playing with them in the store I was sold.The sound is great for DTS and Dolby 5.1 Digital, esp. where it's used well (Day After Tomorrow, Saving Private Ryan, and Band of Brothers).The subwoofer isn't the loudest (actually is pretty weak) but it was still loud enough to disturb the neighbors below, so I just leave it off now.The residual mid bass that comes through the speakers is good though.So if you're in a confined area like me and on a budget, these speakers might be good for you.If I ever move to an apt with thicker walls and floors though (or somewhere that I can be a little more "louder", I'm definitely going to upgrade the speakers.

Great Value
Build quality is very good considering the price.Subwoofer is adequate for small to medium size rooms.Satellites are plastic but have high quality woofers and tweeters.Included is a full set of brackets for wall mounting and some rather skinny wire sets which should be tossed and replaced with at least 16 gauge.Center channel is just a regular satellite but shielded.My subwoofer was mysteriously missing certain things on the back such as the polarity switch and auto on-off.Get one while you still can, its dirt cheap and so much better than a Bose Acoustimass system.

Nice little system
While the fidelity is not there for a Polk Audio man such as myself, its just fine for my son's (11 years old) movies and video games. Surprisingly good bass from a small sub, decent mids and highs from the satellites. Comes will all the mounting hardware. True piece of garbage!!!
I've had this "system" less than 6 months, and it's already pooping the bed.
Great Buy
I had read all the reviews before placing my order for this RCA Surround Sound system. Despite the few negative remarks that are there, the attractive price and product image compelled me to give it a try. I am pleased to say that I have now set up the unit in my home and the performance certainly exceeds my expectations. My opinion is as follows:
Endless problems.
I purchased one of these and had to return it because the unit would freeze while playing or would refuse to turn on. I found through an internet search that many people have had this problem.
