Great GPS unit
I have only had this unit for a week, been using it all the time around town.
Outstanding GPS
I've only had my Nuvi 660 a couple of days but I have say I'm extremely pleased with my "road tests" so far. The screen is big and bright, the audio is loud enough to use with the windows down, the touch-screen controls are very intuitive, and the screen update speed is more than adequate.
Using the Nuvi 660 in the UK
I just returned from England where I used the Nuvi 660 extensivly with the UK SD card (requires separate purchase). My business partners were incredibly impressed with the accuracy and detail of this unit.It was excellent in locating gas stations, hotels and even a McDonalds for an early morning coffee. At one point the driver missed a turn in a roundabout and the Nuvi immediately rerouted us down what was basically a remote back country road that we would never have even considered to get us back on track very quickly. This unit is truly 'State of the Art'.

Early disappiontment
I decided to purchase the c330 based upon many positive reviews supposedly written by other satisfied customers. The unit did arrive from Amazon on schedule. The ease of operation and graphics are outstanding (I am electronically challenged) as others had mentioned. However, in test runs in our neighborhood, the unit twice attempted to route us on roads that have been closed for 10+ years. This, of course, would be a major problem in an unfamiliar area at night. Also, the local Applebee's was shown as being 0.5 mile from its actual location. We plan to take a trip of close to 1000 miles this week.If my opinion of the actual navigational value of the unit imporves, I will submit an amended review.
no-brainer!
This unit can be used by anyone in just a few minutes right out of the box.I was amazed! The detail of side roads, street names, and lists of businesses just amazed me.I was expecting abreviated mapping data, but no; the detail is great. Comfortable to use in 2 minutes.
Navigation is a breeze
This is the first GPS system that I have owned and I purchased it for the ease of use and simplicity. It lives up to the great reviews and has worked like a well-oiled machine since I got the unit. The points of intrest are a great asset with this GPS and the maps and voice prompts are easy and simple to use.It works right out of the box with all maps pre-loaded for the US and Canada.I would recommend this unit for anyone who is married and planning a driving trip.No arguing over directions, wrong turns or places to visit.Garmin takes care of it all even down to where we want to eat. This product is fantastic!

What a nice little GPS
Well if you're like me and need a GPS to get you from point A to point B and not have it play MP3's and all that other garbage then this little unit is for you.I recieved it from Amazon next day and out of the box it was ready to go.I noticed how small it was but the screen is amazingly sharp, even in direct sunlight and easy to read.it's also light weight so the included suction cup holds it firmly in place, even over rough roads.
Simple Instructions Makes for Safer Driving
My experience with the Garmin StreetPilot c340 includes daytime and evening travels over unfamiliar high volume New Jersey and Pennsylvania streets and highways to the mountain roads of Virginia. It worked remarkably well in all situations.I confess being skeptical, but for over a 1000 miles the c340 kept me on track.I had a concern that any GPS navigation system might reduce my attention span to the real task of safe driving.I have reached the very opposite conclusion - the c340 permits the driver to concentrate on the immediate task of driving and not to be distracted by the innumerable signs and crossroads that confronts every driver traversing unfamiliar roads.A quick scan of the lower right hand corner displays the distance to the next turn that keeps the driver adequately informed of progress; then await the close-in verbal and visual instructions from "Jill" as she guides you through the next turn for virtually error free travels. It is a senior citizens "must-have" driving utensil.
like most people said - so easy to use
This is one of the item, I can really say to my wife "trust me from now on, honey".My wife didn't believe the car navigation from the beginning. This item is so easy to use, she finally convinced that I made a excelllent purchase (will, she didn't said that, but I can tell from her face). Now both of us are totally depended on this device when we travel outside of town.If you missed a turn, it automatically re-caculate the route. So, just relax and enjoy a good conversation in the car or enjoy the signorina (oops, scenery man, lady).

Say that again ...
I bought my Magellan 760 after becoming addicted to Magellan's Hertz Neverlost, but I should have done more due diligence before selecting Magellan. The bottom line is, you have to be able to trust a device that does what this does and I don't trust the stupid thing. No matter which routing option I choose, it always calculates a route based primarily on Interstates -- even if that means routing me umpteen miles in the wrong direction to reach the first Interstate in the list. That's OK in rental cars on hurried business trips that begin in airports located next to Interstates but not when you're looking for a lazy, scenic drive on Least Heat Moon's "blue highways."Its more annoying quirks have been documented by other reviewers (who, yes, I should have read more carefully before buying this thing), including unpredictable reboots after the ignition has been turned off during a route, a non-functioning detour program, a weak windshield bracket that can't hold the unit steady and (this may be original to me) a screen that's nearly impossible to read through polarized sunglasses. An example of the wonderfulness of the detour feature: I recently found myself the third car in line behind an accident that blocked the road in both directions. The 760 announced that it was calculating a new route, and sure enough it did.It took me two miles in the wrong direction, looped me around and put me in line again behind the same accident -- but this time there were at least 50 cars ahead of me waiting to get through. But the significance of the unit's unreliability pales in comparison to the anger engendered by any encounter with the company's customer service department. Not only have the phone reps I have hooked up with been difficult to understand, they have been arrogant in denying that they are difficult to understand. If you're dumb enough to buy one of these after reading these reviews, just practice saying "Say that again" before you call Magellan service.By the way, the solutions I was offered were to (1) keep re-initializing the unit until it performs correctly and (2) when that doesn't work (take it from me, it doesn't) edit the calculated route by eliminating the roads you don't want to use -- thereby forcing the unit to calculate the route you want by process of elimination.Excuse me, Mr. CSR, sir -- I bought this thing because when I travel I DON"T KNOW which roads I do and don't want to use.
read this before you buy.
i have owned the magellan 760 for just over one week and have been very pleased. this is my first gps. this is a small computer, not a toy! there is a small learning curve. it needs to be powered up and shut down correctly. a power surge can fry components. start car first, then start unit, power off unit, then turn off car.
"If you're not lost now..."
I had bought this with high hopes. I had quit a job in Connecticut and taken one Florida. I had decided to buy a GPS becuse I am tired of fighting maps. I was trading the inconvience of refolding maps with the convenience of push button electronics. That was was my first mistake.

What a pleasure!
I read the majority of customer reviews before I purchased my i5. I was pretty much certain that I would be happy, but my expectations were well surpassed! I had to travel to Central NYS this past week to a location I knew nothing about. I received the address, put the information into my brand-new i5, and here I was a few hours later pulling into this driveway somewhere up in ski country. Awesome!!! I wouldn't have found this location in a thousand years.

good product
I have been doing research on finding a good gps for a few days know, i've actually read almost all the reviews for this one and decided it was right. Ilove it! I use the smaller memory card for my state, and the larger one for the entire US. (I bought a 1gig for 19bucks). Great buy!
Garmin Lives up to their promise
I recently moved to the Phoenix area and have to drive all over the Valley. This unit does live up to their promise out of the box.If you go to Garmin's website, you can download updated drivers, computer to c320 unit interface that allows you to customize the unit for your purposes. With the standard SD card slot, you can upload huge areas with good detail. The address or site imput is quick and easy and the detail is so good that it will even tell you on which side of the street a location is. This unit saves me so much time and trouble travelling from point to point.I cannot wait to download 3D topo maps for off-higway driving.
very disappointing-it's being sent back

Easy to use- great productbut one problem
Bright screen - fast lock in to staellite - very easy to use - great windshield mount. This is a great product with one exception.Once in a while the directions are insane.I have several cases of route differences but nothing of any real concern.99% of the time everything is OK.It is that 1-2% that really bother me.The route instructions are just not even close. Normal recomputing when I choose a route that varies slightly from the 360's route is accurate and fast.I dont know what would happen if I followed the 1% route that is just plain wrong - Once in a while you might find it is a good idea to trust you senses - I am normally very good at that but just be aware that it "can" be way off one in a great while
Good equipment, but unreliable features
I agree with all the good stuff listed against this product (model -360). I have been using this for about 6 months now (brought it for a $100 more).
Great unit, arguably useful.
I bought one of these to use on a short interstate roadtrip. It was nice to have, and helped me make sure I stayed on track.

It's a chunk of money, but...
I've never regreted buying this thing. It's been on several trips and used in my work on a daily basis. No, I don't believe you'll find one that will always be 100% accurate, maybe on down the road, but I've been super impressed with it's capabilities. Going to Atlanta this next week and it sure is sweet not to sweat being in the right lane through metropolitan areas. At 18, not knowing exactly where I was going was fun, now at 42 it's not fun anymore. This unit has put some thrill back into the trip process, "Jill" and I are tight.
I can't live without it.
I bought this whilst in California and found it useful when going on trips to Yosemite etc.You just plug in and go. (You almost don't need to ever read the instructions it is so easy.) I was the main driver and it meant no more arguments of the best way to go or shouting because turns had been missed. Then I moved to Washington D.C with my family and the Garmin StreetPilot 2720 became the valuable piece of equipment.Where ever we were trying to go it got us there.I loved the fact you can just type in a shop name like Target and it will give you options of all the nearest ones. There is no more staring blindly at maps trying to figure out where you are and how to get back.I can truly say that I will never life without a navigation system. It is worth its weight in gold just for the now stress free trips to whether we feel like.
Functional and affordable GPS
The Garmin StreetPilot 2720 is the best GPS currently on Amazon for two reasons.First, this GPS is only a year old, and costs half as much as it originally did!Second, you will not sacrifice features by paying less for this GPS.It costs what a mid-level unit costs, but it is quite an advanced system.

Editorial Review No larger than a baseball and priced with affordability in mind, the StreetPilot i3 GPS navigation system is a great fit for commuters, college students, and corporate travelers looking to experience the ease and enjoyment of satellite navigation for the first time. Don't let the small size fool you; the i3 boasts many of the same powerful functions as Garmin's premium vehicle GPS navigators. The StreetPilot i3 features a unique and convenient click-to-enter scroll wheel and a Back button that makes it easy to select a destination from the unit's menu-driven interface. It also offers voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions through a built-in speaker, and should you miss a turn, the i3 will automatically recalculate the route to put you back on course. And perhaps most conveniently, the unit moves easily from vehicle to vehicle thanks to the integrated suction cup mount, so you don't need to go through a cumbersome process each time you change cars. I love this thing.......
I have to admit it, when I bought the Garmin StreetPilot i3 I wasn't sure if it could do what it was supposed to do. I tested out in my home area for about 2 weeks. I took a small trip with a couple of friends we were about 60 miles from home. My friend has a brand new luxury vehicle with a GPS that she didn't know how to use. I had my StreetPilot i3 so we used it going down. I was pleasently surprised to find out that the voice response on theGarmin StreetPilot i3 was loud enough to hear over our conversation. There were three women in the car talking and we could hear the turn by turn voice instructions loud and clear, and accurate on the Garmin StreetPilot i3. On the way back home we had figured out how to use the cars built in GPS so we programed it and set out for home, we could hardly hear the turn by turn instructions on the cars system so coming back home was a little quiet (boring) because we had to be quiet so that we could hear the instructions.
great GPS
This was my first GPS and had been using for last 8 months it works great . Highly recommended . Now i bought Garmin C320
great unit with low cost
I wanted to buy GPS unit with low cost. This definitely falls into that category. Picked one up at Costco which as on sale this month. The unit works great, picks up satellite in most cases and calculates route fairly quickly. However, it did loose signals going to LA from SF while on Hwy 156 mountains and also on Hwy 5 which is flat. Great audio and screen resolution.

Editorial Review Knowledge is power, and thanks to the advanced technology packed into the Garmin StreetPilot 2730, you'll get plenty of both. The big news about this model in comparison to its predecessor, the 2720, is the addition of XM radio capabilities. Maybe I'm Missing something
I've used the Garmin GPS III handheld unit for years and one of the map features I always appreciated was that Interstate rest stops were on every map.Everything works great with the 2730 Street Pilot and the XM radio feature is fine but do I really need to know there are 6 grass strip airports within a 5 mile radius? Are the rest stops somewhere in the POI's that I have missed?
Motorcycle friendly GPS
I had been searching the various GPS manufacturers for awhile before settling on the 2730. I recently took a motorcycle trip to Wyoming from NY and had this GPS mounted on the handlebars. Very well made unit that made my trip much more enjoyable. I purchased this particular unit over others by TomTom and Garmin because I liked the XM weather/traffic/radio combination more than the bluetooth capability of the 'rider' and the 2820 (although the 2820 offers XM also, it does not supply the antenna as the 2730 does). Being able to answer the phone on my bike doesn't seem the safest option, and I had heard that the bluetooth headsets don't have quite the sound quality I would want for traffic/music.
Garmin Streetpilot 2730
This is the best GPS I have ever owned. The only drawback I can find is the maps are not up to date and I have downloaded all the updates. Garmin needs to update their maps otherwise this thing is GREAT.

Not up to par with other Magellans
I have had a few GPS units in my car.My last a Magellan 700 roadmate was stolen from my car and so I decided to get this unit.
Great GPS, Poor mount
I have had this GPS for about a month, and it is extremely easy to use and had minimal set up.So far it has gotten me about 20 places with pretty good directions. The only problem I can see with it is with the cheap design of the mounting hardware.Mine is already broken and I have resorted to industrial strength velcro on the dash.
Worked right out of the box
This was the first remanufactured electronic device that I purchased but Amazon and Magellan are reputable companies and the price was unbelievable.I had used the Hertz NeverLost version so I just had to plug it in and it was ready to use.The user interface is very intuitive and the touch screen makes it even easier to use.It works great in the Los Angeles area and I plan to use it along the entire west coast. The unit came with the latest software already loaded and was in brand new condition.

Wonderful!
I'm so happy with my Garmin i2.Its a reliable little companion on my trips and I will never again drive for hours on unknown roads getting further and further from my destination. The Garmin always gets me where I need to go.Bravo!
Practical hints and observations for buyers
I've had the i2 for a few days only now. When buying, my main decision was between the i2, i3, and i5. I considered other models on the market too expensive. The i2 is monochrome with no maps installed, the i3 is color with no maps installed, and the i5 is color with maps preinstalled. Does color make a difference? Does preinstalled maps make a difference? After buying the i2, I feel I am not missing out on anything. Here are some practical suggestions:
works as good as any I have tried, better than most
Have had unit since November, 2005, so a longer term review here.

Pretty Good
I just took this unit on a 5000 mile road trip from Chicago to San Antonio, to Phoenix and back. The unit was worth the price, especially for finding routes off the interstate system.
waste of money
Looks nice but i had to return it because of constant glitches. Instead, I got a Garmin Nuvi which costs more but is well worth the money. You get what you pay for!
Needs some tweaking, but all around a great nav system.
I've been using my TomTom ONE for a week and a half or so and overall, I'm quite happy with it.Out of the box or after having been moved a significant distance while off, the unit takes about a minute or so at most to determine its position. From a warm start, it's usually a matter of seconds.

Editorial Review With an effective in-car navigation system at your side, you can say goodbye to the good old days of pulling over and asking directions. But designing an effective system, one that brings together the right mix of speed, accuracy, and simplicity has been a long, hard road for many manufacturers--leading many folks to stick with the human touch of the gas station attendant. The latest in-car GPS units deserve a serious look, though, especially by those who've sworn them off as too inaccurate, too complicated, and too expensive. The TomTom GO 910 embodies much of what's really great about the next generation of systems, and in many ways it's successful at making drivers feel as if there's a helpful guide along for the ride. Problem with docking station
I've had the unit for about a month and I'm having a difficult time with the docking station in the car.The suction part works fine but the arm does not hold the unit in place very well. Also when snaping the 910 to the dockng station sometimes it takes a couple of tries to make sure it's attached. This is a new unit I've used a Garmin unit in the past and did not have this problem. For these units to be portable they need a better docking interface.I can see a problem poping up very soon with a pin being broken or bent and there is no way to charge the device without the docking station.
Top Notch GPS!!
I usually do not write any reviews but I felt like I had to give my two cents about this product. The GO 910 has everything I need and want in a portable GPS. The out of the box experience was easy, the navigation top-rate, the re-calculation time when I missed my exit was quick, and, best of all, I could come home and dock the unit to my PC to download my address book. It even updates the software in the background as I work. Absolutely FREE - no fees!
Old maps
I bought the Garmin 2720 after returning my Tom Tom 910 in the year 2006.

Magellan for Nervous Navigators (Like ME!)
I bought the Magellan 800 not wanting to spend alot but wanting good quality for my needs. It gets me to my destinations very well, sometimes I would choose another route and it keeps going on (unless you "escape") telling you where to turn but you may know a better way but it helps to get you to where you want to go.I am unsure if you can "teach it" but I'll learn that part soon I'm sure.
Returned GPS
This was a top notch GPS but my husband prefers his small one so we returned the Magellan
Terrible accessaries.

Great portable unit, but in hindsight, the smaller square models are best
The sound is clear and it even has an audio out jack for my auxiliary input jack of my stereo. So, if I'm *really* paranoid about missing audio cues when I'm driving, I don't miss them now. Alternatively, if you pair it with a bluetooth headset, you should be able to get the same in ear (of course you could also use the audio out for regular headphones while driving, say one earbud in, if you wanted).
Bulky, too much $$ for the size
Overall performance was great on this unit.I took 3 units for a 30 day trial run, this was the first one.The unit did everyrthing it was supposed to do flawlessly. The points of interest catagories by Garmin are superior they give you full address and phone number. It came in handy on Hawaii when we wanted ice cream and it was 10pm, we looked up Bakin Robins and called them phone number to find out they were open for another hour, deifinately a time saver.
My second Garmin GPS: Extremely good, but missing lower-end features.
This is the second Garmin product I've purchased, the first being a StreetPilot C320 for my mother which I've also used extensively. (I've reviewed the C320 also. Most of the good things I pointed out in that review also apply here, so read that one if you want more details than what I give here.) This one was purchased for myself and my wife to use in our new car. (New toys! Hooray!)

Great addition for the car.
The Lowrance 500C works great. It is especially helpful when making several stops in unfamiliar places. I was surprised to find it was able to navigate to my week-end home which is on a dirt road in the mountains. The mount is quite secure. My Nissan Pathfinder provides a space for the unit to rest. The screen is large and bright enough to see in all lights. Sound from the power cord is loud and clear without attaching to your speakers. The unit is heavy but detaches easily when it is removed. I purchased the unit from Amazon who delivered it promptly as promised.
Lot of features, no use
I have this unit for 1 year now. Greatest problems. (BTW, I have latest software 1.7.0)
Don't buy it
Don't buy this unit. The database is terrible, and Lowrance wants $75 for an update. This unit has sent me on wild goose chases looking for stores that moved from the database's given address years ago. It has no listing for businesses that have existed for years, and more often than not tells you to turn after you already passed the street it wanted you to turn on. Extremely disappointing, and definitely not worth the money.

Crappy Service From Garmin
When it works it is great.Unfortunately, I lost the lottery.Mine takes 20 minutes to get it to boot up.And if you have never wanted to kill someone, trying to get help from Garmin will turn you into a serial killer.
Great Navigator
Over the past 5 years I have owned and used Kenwood Navigator ($3000), DeLorme Navigator, Microsoft Streets & Trips w GPS; all unsatisfactory. The Garmin 7200 tops them all.I would have to nit-pick to field any complaints about this product.Easy to set up and easy to use.No annoying behaviors.
DC power plug blows fuse
I have the streetpilot 7200 and I like it very much. Talked my girl friend into getting one and found a glich when connecting the 12 vdc power plug. She has a 94' Ford Tarus with the conventional cigarette lighter socket. When inserting the gps 12 vdc plug into her cigarette socket the fuse blows. This was also the case when I used my unit to verify problem. It also will blow the fuse without the gps unit attached. Using a multimeter I found that if the tip of the plug is recessed flush with the plug body it shorts out the fuse. My Honda civic 06' model has a accessory plug and this does not occur. The design of this power plug for older cars is faulty. I temporary corrected the problem by inserting a rubber washer to fit inside the socket to prevent the plug from being inserted to the depth that would allow the tip and the body to be flush resulting in a short circuit! Washer size: 7/8"od x 3/8"id x 1/8"h. UPDATE: Garmin shipped us 2 new cables via overnight delivery. They worked great. It's refreshing to see a company that backs up their products. They were very professional and polite.
