2-0 out of 5 stars Can't calibrate it!
It looks good and it is said that it does wonders, but I can't calibrate it. I have tried many times but it fails on me. And their tech support is hard to reach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for PDA or PC connection
The GPS 76 is the perfect portable GPS unit for connecting to a PocketPC based PDA or a laptop.I have tested it on an iPAQ 3835 with Pocket Streets 2002 and it works like a champ.I have also tested it with a friend's PDA using Anywhere Map (a moving map/EFIS type program for flying) and it worked great. If you are in an area that can get WAAS reception, the accuracy is even better. If you are looking for a great GPS that can be used stand-alone or attached to a PDA, this is it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Confused
OK, now I am confused. There have been both pro and cons for this product and completely opposite. I love the price but if the negatives are so intence, then may be I should wait. Dan, I'm with you, I would someone that has troubles with this product to email me and explain their discontent.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this model
I have tried this beofre, the antenna is not a good one which caused the GPS drop the line from time to time. The map is really old which caused me a lot of trouble, especially in DC area. Now I ahve changed to another brand for much less money with the newest map inside.. Also it is too big to put in the cars. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great product
Apparently Amazon is now the place to share your design opinion even though you don't own the product.Nice.How about next time you comment on something you own?And secondly (And you would know this if you OWNED the product) the GPS receiver is sitting in a bluetooth sled. The sled can be removed and you can hardwire the receiver and use it as a standard GPS mouse.
1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Design
Thats the ugliest gadget I have ever seen. I dont own one and I dont plan to buy one either... But just pointing out that zero thought was put into design the product. Sorry to disapoint anyone who has actually bought it and liked it but I couldnt resist commenting on that ugly design :))

5-0 out of 5 stars Pharos does it again!
This is my third Pharos GPS unit and easily the best.Coupled with my HP tablet and MS Streets and Trips 2004, the unit was up and running less than 5 minutes after ripping the plastic off the box!Yeah, that includes reading the Quick Start Manual.

Editorial Review

Stay safe while navigating the coastal waters with the Cobra MR F75 dual-power marine VHF transceiver. The radio, which boasts a selectable output power of either 1 or 25 watts (for short or long communication), lets you talk with other radios within at least a five-mile radius, and sometimes as far away as 25 miles, depending on conditions. It's an essential tool for communicating with marinas, the Coast Guard, other boaters, and commercial towing companies, all of whom can offer life-saving assistance during a crisis. And because VHF radios work on a party line, any boat that's within range can listen in and provide help, or they can relay the signal to a professional that's outside your range.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your hard earned cash.
I have been using the Navman 3420 coupled to an Ipaq 3850 for over 1 year and am constantly disappointed by its performance.1-0 out of 5 stars WASTE OF MONEY
Very unreliable. Clumsy user interface. Couple of times I had to pull over and wait for the stupid thing to lock on the sattelites. Often needs a PDA reset. Imagine having to reset your PDA , start the program again and enter the destination again while driving in traffic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good product, If you can get it to work.
I was running the NAVMAN GPS on a iPAQ 3955. To make this short, after doing a "Hard" reset and applying the latest Soft-Paq I could get it to work 1 out of 10 times.Read more

Editorial Review

The Garmin Geko 301 is one of the smallest and lightest waterproof GPS units on the market. This inexpensive unit has a sleek design and simple operating system, and it's WAAS-enabled with an accuracy of three meters or less. With its sturdy, dark gray case, the Geko 301 packs an amazing amount of functionality into its slim frame--making it a great all-around handheld GPS unit for general navigation. In addition to regular GPS features, the Geko 301 includes an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter. The compass provides bearing information while you're standing still, and the altimeter determines your precise altitude and provides a 12-hour pressure-trend tool for gauging changing weather conditions.Read more

  • Easy operation: five buttons for one-hand use
  • 12-hour operation on 2 AAA batteries; includes serial PC interface

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for its size
Amazingly compact, no larger than a small cell phone. Easy to operate, even though there are only five buttons. Can be configured to use different units and coordinate systems. The battery life is okay but can be as short as four hours, depending on various factors (which I wish were documented somewhere). The built-in compass and altimeter are neat, but probably not worth the additional cost over the Geko 201, especially if you have a separate compass anyway. The screen resolution is okay, but in the view that shows tracks and waypoints the labels sometimes start overlapping and get unreadable when you zoom out. Getting a signal can require anywhere from less than a minute to more than ten minutes, depending on how much time (or distance?) has passed since the device was turned off or lost the signal. Getting a signal in urban areas, in forrests or even steep mountain sides turned out to be difficult or impossible; don't know how much of an issue this is for comparable devices. Finally, the USB cable which must be purchased separately is outrageously expensive. You'd expect this kind of thing to be included, but no luck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent first GPS
A great simple GPS with some neat extras such as Compass.

5-0 out of 5 stars A perfect addition to my dashboard
I was looking for a compass for my car and I am glad I found this one.Perfect size and easy to use.Fits great with the three suction cups right on the dash (doesn't fall off).Within easy reach and seems very accurate. Great addition for someone who is Directionally Challenged.Definitely would recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't know what they are talking about?
I have to tell you. I read the other reviews and am not really sure what they expected for the price. You get so moch more compared to comperably priced units form other brands.I primarily use mine to geocache and will admit the inability to download coordinates from the computer would be nice but I didn't want to spend the money to get a unit that did that. As far as accuraccy I feel that this is very good, I have never had a problem finding my caches and have never had a problem getting a lock within a reasonable amount of time. Backlight is great, base map is adequate, navigation page is good. Basically you can get much, much better but not for this price. Perfect for the weekend geocacher, hiker, biker.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice first handheld GPS
I love this GPS.It's light and the buttons are clearly defined. The accuracy is great, although it's hard to get acquisition while moving, I suppose that's the same with all GPSrs.I've gone Geocaching already with it and it finds everything.I've once even got the accuracy within 3 feet, which was really nice. The only one con I can think of is that it is really slippery.I've almost dropped it twice, but was saved by the included wrist strap.Haven't gotten to test the water resistability, but I don't think I want to "test" it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor Value

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent features, rugged. A bit big though...
I'm extremely pleased with my Suunto Mariner. It is simply loaded with features that a sailor/racer wil find handy. It can also take a lot of abuse (clumsy me...). There are only two things I can think of where the Suunto Mariner comes up short: First is that it is a bit big when worn on your wrist. However, all Suunto watches are this size; and, once you get used to it, you stop noticing. Although it is big, it is very light in weight. Overall, it is very comfortable to wear. And, the benefit of having a big display is that it is easy to see (and digest) all the data displayed on the unit. Second, many watches coming out from other companies that cater to water-sports enthusiasts include a tide calculator/display. The Suunto Mariner does not have this feature. In my opinion, adding the tide feature would make this watch complete.Read more
