Costly Marine Software
I have just received my new GPS 76C. It is a great unit. There is however a major downside. If you intend to use this for marine navigation and are looking at buying a BlueChart CD to download Charts, you only get one unlock code with your CD. This means that you can only use one of the region charts. Ie. if you are in the Eastern part of the Med, you can use your one free download to get the chart for this area. If you move to the West of the Med, you now need to buy another unlock code. These are far from cheap and will start costing you a fortune. Buy a Magellan GPS as the Marine CD is cheaper and you get all the charts for the region you purchased included and not have to buy each areas chart. I am now stuck with a GPS that I don't really want.

Works well in Sunlight
I bought this unit for GPS data collection.I choose it because of the 115mb internal memory and the 10,000 track points storage, WAAS capability, external antenna jack, USB port, ability to load maps, and color screen. Difficult to manage Waypoints

Don't waste your money on Global Pet Finder, but try the Verizon Migo
GPS,Tracking, LLC (Global Pet Finder) totally blew us off.We contacted technical support 7 times by phone and 6 times by e-mail over a 5 day period and not one person ever returned our call. We only had service for about 6 hours over a 5-day period.Our dog was out of her fence for an hour because we were testing the system and we did not receive one alert saying she was out of fence.The battery went dead after approx. 18 hours and we did not receive an alert.This product is a total waste of money not to mention time setting it up and testing it to make sure it works. We never were contacted by technical support, EVER. What a joke.We returned it and went to VERIZON WIRELESS.Who says it has to be made for a dog?We purchased a Migo (GPS tracking for children) and paid $49.95 for it, you have to have a Family Plan and your phone must be "Chaperone Capable".The GPS Capable Migo weighs about 2.5 ounces and it works! We purchased a back pack case and just clipped it to our dogs collar. We pay $9.99 per month for the tracking service (and we don't get charged for extra "locates" as you do with Petfinder)and for an additional $9.99 we can set "Fences", as many as you want such as "Home", and you get a text message on your Chaperone Capable phone if your pet leaves the designated area.I would give the Migo 4.5 stars.It is called "Chaperone" and would work well for the elderly also, if you have a parent or someone you worry about. Their technical support was great!

Great for hiking with my wayward dog
I have a pointer mix who loves, loves, loves to run after deer. He always finds his way back during one of our camping/hiking adventures within an hour or so of romping through the woods. At home he comes when called, but in the woods it is a whole new ballgame. The tracking device just gives me peace of mind.
Totally worthless
This product keeps changing home addresses; none of which are the address I typed in the initial field. It does not stay charged so that it is actually able to function as advertised if you are gone from home any length of time and you put your dog in a yard.Additionally, gravity takes it down to the lower neck area in common use so that when the dog is doing normal dog things, the device sinks downward so that the antenna is pointing toward the ground.The pictures are misleading.We tried all of the advise the company gave us. It's just not a device that works when and where you need it to work.It was a lot to invest to have this many problems. ... Read more

Lousy Product Support
I am not writing a review for this exact product, but am for a similar one.It failed because of a plastic part that broke.Humminbird will not allow me to purchase a replacement part.The only concession they will make is that if I ship the unit to them they will repair it at approximately 50% of replacement cost.I consider that a bum deal and totally unacceptable.Because of their failure to provide even a minimum level of decent product service I've bought my last Humminbird product. ... First time GPS Owner - Very impressed
I purchased this as my first GPS for a family vacation. Researched quite a few and decided upon the c550 because of brand name and simplicity. Overall a great little device, very intuitive, easy to use. Got us to where we wanted to go "most (99%)" of the time. Two preprogrammed locations, a Toy Train museum in PA and a restaurant in GA were way off. The first landed us at a very nice Amish farmers house - not many toy electric trains there and the second, for the restaurant, in an office park. Both locations several miles off. I'll report the details on the Garmin page to see if future updates make corrections. Only one additional trip point can be added to a trip but you can change them out as you go. Apparently with MapSource products by Garmin, purchased separately, you can add more - I'm not clear on this - still learning the difference between waypoints, trip points, points of interest, etc.At any rate I hope this is changed in future updates. The Bluetooth sync'd to my phone and works very well as a speaker phone. It has MP3 capability but in my opinion you get better sound quality from an old AM transistor radio and this is just a feature I will not use. The provided mounting is a bit cumbersome. I would prefer it come with a friction mount, an available option, but the suction devices do work. I'll be adding an optional friction mount... The voice directions are very computer like sometimes the pronunciation is off but is usually understandable. The GTM 20 Traffic Message Channel is extremely convenient and does a great job of helping to avoid traffic jams. Overall I really like my new gadget!

It's Pretty Okay
Overall a decent product for road navigation.I use it with my Dell Axim X50v PDA.My only complaint is that it's only really usefull for roadtrips.Don't think of taking this thing Geocaching, camping, hiking, or backpacking.There's no topographical map support unless you buy third party software (and hope it works).The Ostia software could also be a little more user friendly.Getting a signal can be tricky at times too.

After receiving this product, I immediately set it up with my Samsung i700. Well, it didn't take off right away but after playing around with it for about 15-20 minutes, I got it working.Well, of course the real test is when you get out on the road.Here's my experience with this contraption.
