Great camera--but a little sensitive
Love the camcorder and the fact that you never have to buy tapes or those stupid little 20-minute discs. The quality is great. And you can upgrade to a three-hour battery, so battery life isn't a concern. My only drawbacks: 1) camera can be very sensitive; I took it to the beach and jostled it around a little and the zoom and focus stopped working, and 2) using it with a program like Sony's Click to DVD software scrambles the clips, so when you edit before burning to DVD you have to go back, frame by frame, and rearrange the clips in the order you shot them in.

Convenience, convenience, convenience, and features!
I moved up from a MiniDV camcorder to this one because of the hard-drive recording. It was a *great* purchasing decision. My personal favorite features:

Overall good but....
This drive is ok, but beware that this drive can not be used to install Windows XP on a computer that need hard disk drivers (RAID/SATA and such)...

Best thing in video since sliced bread
This unit has a very user friendly interface and is very easy to figure out for the average consumer.I work in the motion picture industry as a cameraman, so I do have a unique perspective.It does take a while to figure out the software and the the best way to download the video, but once you get it, it's as good as apple pie.The one downside is this unit's operating temperature.It gets very hot the longer it's powered.But that's the price you have to pay with a hard drive camcorder this small.Even with the state of the art Professional High Definition cameras in the motion picture industry, you still have over heating issues as well as power consumption issues.Eventually this will be solved, but for now, this is as good as it gets.

Don't believe the hype
Bought this camera last month to replace my 2 year old MiniDV camera. Though I am impressed with the small size and low weight, the video quality is not as fabulous as others are suggesting, even after tweaking the settings. Recording outdoors in direct sunlight is good, the colors are fresh, but not so good when trying to shoot something in shadow. Trying to shoot inside in low light, even with the gain on, was extremely poor. The video quality is nothing close to High Definition (HD), and in my opinion no better than my JVC MiniDV camcorder. I've viewed the video on both my 19" LCD and my 65" HDTV and remain unimpressed with the video quality (most notably pixelation when filming moving objects). Great drive
My purpose for finding an external drive was probably different from most people's - I needed a drive that would work on Linux (SuSE, specifically), and I needed to copy files between a Linux machine and an old 8-bit MSX computer, which only accepts double-density diskettes. I'm happy to say that not only does the drive work flawlessly with Linux, I had no problem writing/reading double-density diskettes between the two machines. If you're looking for a drive that reads/writes double-density diskettes, and/or one that works with Linux, look no further

Works exactly like it should
I have one at work and now one at home.Does exactly what you would expect with no issues.Let me save you some grief though...If you are trying to boot from the floppy and need to set your BIOS to have the floppy drive first in the boot order, make sure you have the USB floppy drive plugged in before powering the computer and entering the BIOS setup.If you don't the computer will not see that a floppy is available and will not give you the choice of booting from it.Hope this helps.

Satisfied Customer
Love the three different colored face plates and buttons,with these it will match any computer case, that was a great idea. The drive works fine easy install,the only problem was with my floppy discs themselves wich are not made by Sony a few refused to copy information,actually they all did at first until I down loaded a install utility for floppies from Intel, shouldn't they copy info automatically?

It's not the technical aspect...
The "granite" faceplate matches the Antec SLK3700AMB case perfectly. It's more of a bronze color. I never imagined there would be a drive that matched that case, much less a Sony. If you care at all how nice a case looks, or if you're a mom-and-pop PC shop that wants to sell computers in that good-lookin' case, this is the floppy drive to get.

Nice Product, Take the Time to Implement
Bought this for our top dog sales guy.We have VoIP and also have WiFi in the office, so we had concerns about interference.Amazon did not offer many details about the product or compatibilities.I assumed it would be fully compatible.
Says what it does, does what it says
This device works well to integrate Bluetooth headset technology into my home office.I paired it with an AT&T Model 959 phone and everything works perfectly.The only caveat I would mention is that the cord on the AT&T phone is short, buy a longer one.Oh, and the installation takes about 20 minutes.

Great dvd Burner
I am not sure why the other review is so bad, but let me tell you, this is one awesome dvd drive.I have not had one bad disk made with this unit....If you are trying to copy a copy protected DVD, it is your software causing you the problems, not the DVD unit.....This unit is perfect....

Be Careful
I couldn't get this unit to work despite a ton of e-mails to and from the manufacturer's tech support people.My problem: no media player software, including the Cineplayer software packaged with the unit, was able to play a DVD on this unit without false copyright protection errors and other aberrations.Iomega tech support asked me to try a ton of solutions, none of which worked.Then Iomega changed its story and said the problem was the Cineplayer, which won't work under Windows XP!They advised me to delete Cineplayer and try Windows Media Player, but that didn't work either.This unit is going back to the merchant. I don't believe the manufacturer tested it fully and I've given the manufacturer every chance to prove that the unit works under XP. In my personal experience, it does not. ... Read more

Not white, no mounting kit
The front (bezel) is not white, it is ivory.Also, there is no '5.25" mounting kit' nor "installation guide" included, as claimed.The distributor is buying these bare drives in bulk, and repackaging them.This is not a retail kit.Do some research on model # "FD235HFC291" to confirm my statements.If you want an off-white drive that will fit in a 3.5" bay, buy this drive.If you want what is advertised, look elsewhere.
